(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
Stephanie Nichols
Love my Life Recovery Bible!
As I thought about which my favorite Bible was, I thought, “the one I used when we were going through our most difficult time”. That was The Life Application Bible, NLT. Just thinking about it reminds me of how the Lord spoke to me and ministered to my heart!!
My name is Julie Leland
My favorite Bible is my NIV Study Bible. It is sentimental for 2 reasons. The first is, it was given to me for Christmas the day after my daughter was born. My daughter is 21 now and my Bible looks a whole lot older than that. The second is, my spiritual life and love for the Lord have grown sooo much through the years I have spent with this precious book.
I’m not entering to win but I’ll share my favorite Bible with you anyway. I really have two, both NIV — one is downloaded on my Kindle. No more lugging a heavy study Bible to church & small group! I’ll be honest and say the Kindle version does have its drawbacks. It takes me longer to locate a verse, which is embarrassing when others are waiting on me. It is a no-frills Bible — no marginal notes or concordance. But the convenience is worth it.
My other Bible is a Life Application Study Bible, again in NIV — it is the translation I prefer.
Tabitha Bonilla Worsley–I use a number of different Bibles because I keep them all over my apartment for wherever I am when my 2 year old naps (My bedroom, my desk, my living room…) and one in my car for church. If I need to reference a different version I go to biblestudytools.com 🙂 My first Bible though was a Psalty the singing song book Bible–such fond memories. Sadly, it feel off of my bed ten times too many and didn’t make it past grade school…
My favorite bible is the NIV Life Application Study bible. I love how it helps me seek out the meaning and shows me what HE wants me to know!
Sarah Hill. My favorite Bible is my NIV Study Bible. Thanks for running the giveaway!
My favorite Bible is The Woman’s Study Bible New King James version. It has articles called Perspectives, written by noted female authors. Which I find useful and uplifting.
Katie Gravens
My favorite Bible is my little green travel size NIV that was given to me by my parents. It has been with me all over the world!
Kristi Harris
My current favorite Bible is YouVersion on my phone. It’s always handy when I need it!
The first Bible I ever purchased for myself is an NIV Study Bible. After many years, it’s still the one I use today. I’m thinking too, it might be time for a new one… but oh, how the Lord and I have traveled together through this one!!
My favorite Bible thus far is the Life Recovery Bible (NLT) because it journeyed with me through a very challenging and rewarding time of my life! Our church uses ESV, so when I’m having trouble understanding a passage I still flip open my NLT.
Marybeth Dodson-I love the Key Word study Bible(although it makes me rabbit trail often…in a good way). My most “sentimental” Bible is my 1st Bible, an NIV Life Application Bible.
Jennifer Stymiest – I grew up using the KJV and now I use the New American Standard (Ryrie Study Bible) although I would like to get an NIV!
Hi! I would LOVE to win a this new bible!! I think one of my first bible was a Holman, because it was given to me by my grandma’s brother, who was a Holman. (my grandma’s maiden name). I mainly use the NIV (since I have a small one to take to bible studies) but also like the New King James version too. How exciting it would be to win this bible! We are in the midst of the James Study at my church right now!
Kim Davis from Tennessee. My favorite bible is the Life Application Bible – NIV!
Marybeth Dodson-I love the Key Word study Bible(although it makes me rabbit trail often…in a good way). My most “sentimental” Bible is my 1st Bible, an NIV Life Application Bible.
Jenna Lempke
My favorite bible is my small pocket sized NIV- it’s so soft now from use and age and fits in almost any bag or purse I use, so I can always have it with me!
My favorite Bible is a red leather NIV thinline that is so soft and worn and falling apart. I like just holding it sometimes and remembering all the Bible studies it has carried me through.
Mary Lee Riggs
Lindsee, I had to laugh at your comment about the Precious Moments Bible… I have one of those from when I was a kid! I also recently came across a Good News Bible that I used as a teen that had the dates of my grandfathers’ deaths written in my teenage script in the inside cover. As dear as those Bibles are to me, my favorite is my worn gray leather NIV study Bible. Thanks for such a fun giveaway!
Lauralee Courtney and I love all different kinds of Bibles but I study with the NIV. I do reading for fun with The Message version. What a fun giveaway! I hope we all win!
My favourite version is the NIV. I’ve had my current one for several years, it is well-marked up in many colours. I would be great to try the HCSB, and would be so useful for the many Beth studies that I do & lead.
My name is Sacha Olive.
My favorite is the Women’s Devotional Bible NIV. I received it as a gift from my Church when I graduated high school. It is the Bible I was using when I absolutely fell in love with God’s Word!
Yvonne Downs-I love my NIV Thomspon Chain Reference from my Dad and Mom when I was a child…with my name S. Yvonne Paris in gold. There is something about a name, my name on my Bible. Grateful for God’s Word!
Julie Butler – Hello all! My favorite is The Quest Study Bible, NIV. Isn’t it so comforting to have God’s life guide at our fingertips? And, I just have to brag on Beth and her girls. I’m in the middle of the James Bible study and L-O-V-I-N-G it! Beth’s video comments on Tuesday ended up in a heart-to-heart with my two teenage boys today (Wednesday). ALL so applicable to daily life! Thanks for all you ladies do! God bless!
My favorite bible of all time is the Message Version. I love the contempary writing, it makes if a joy to read. However for studying the word. I use my NIV study bible
Kelly Powell
My favorite Bible is the one I asked my husband for, for Christmas, just a few short weeks after a DEEP DESIRE for Jesus in my life. 3 years, 3 months later, it is dear to me…worn pages, baby scribbling, verses marked out of despair and verses marked out of joy! I am so thankful for a copy of his Word.
My favorite is the “The Bible in 90 Days, Cover to Cover in 12 Pages a Day”.
Becky Jo Beverly
I think my fave Bible right NOW is my ESV study Bible that my man & kids got me for my birthday last year. But my trusty (and YEARS old) NIV study Bible that I have used for EVERY Bible study I have EVER done is literally falling apart. I picked it up the other day and Genesis went one direction and everything past 1John went the other. SO sad!
HCSB is the one translation that I have always WANTED but have yet to get … so, ya know, PICK ME! LOL!
Um….I guess my favorite bible is my NKJV Hugs for Women bible.
My daddy died suddenly when I was 12 years old (in 1974). You can do the math:) My mother gave me his bible soon after he went home. I treasure that green, hard cover, worn Living Bible. The underlined scripture and scribbled notes in the margin are constant reminders that my daddy loved Jesus!
Darn it. I forgot to put my name *in* the comment…even though it shows up above it. I will do this again if that’s not the right way:
Nikkia Bell–My favorite bible is my NKJV Hugs for Women bible.
Candy Edwards
I have had a navy blue NIV since I was in college…17 years ago! I love to look back on the notes I took in the margins 🙂
Lisa Wilson… favorite version is NKJV but for devotions love the Spirit Filled Life Daily Devotion Bible, also NKJV.
My name is Mary Alice Dulweber.
My favorite BIble is my pink NIV Study Bible.
Nicole Lookabaugh
My favorite bible is the NIV although I really enjoy The Message for certain scriptures! The Beatitudes took on a whole new meaning for me when translated with The Message 🙂
I’m facilitating the James study with a group at my A/G church in upstate NY. I’m using Joyce Meyer’s Enjoying Everyday Life Bible (Amplified Version).
Oh whoohoo! A bible with Apps! Who knew?! 🙂 Bet that makes God chuckle a little bit.
Sasha Brodeur
My favorite bible is the one I have now- the NIV study bible. (But I just had to use packing tape on the binding. I have a feeling it’s not long for this world.)
ashley moore–my chronological Bible!
Tina Noel
NIV study Bible is the one I use most often. My Bible study leader has one just like it. I hope mine looks like hers one day. She studied James – Mercy Triumphs so hard the whole book of James fell out!
My favorite Bible is a parallel Bible that has both the NIV and Message side by side.
My 23 yr old daughter and I just finished the James study at our ladies Bible study–she is hooked on the Word as God met her thru this study! It’s a new season now for her….that calls for a new Bible! Had no idea this kind of Bible was available.
My always-available is an NIV Life Application Bible. Well marked, much loved, but definitely in my “comfort zone” . . . maybe it’s time to branch out to something different?
The Women of Faith study Bible…I love it so much I haven’t been able to trade so I still use it with few book markers left on the edges (I put those on myself so I could navigate around easier).
Julie Ratcliff- I love my Life Application Study Bible
Linda Hungerford. My favorite is the old NIV. Per Beth’s challenge, I’m memorizing James and have nearly completed James 3. Two more months of memorizing to go! With God’s help, I’m gonna accomplish it. Thanks for the chance to win this lovely giveaway.
Jan Quinn – I love my Women of Faith Study Bible. I love it so much I haven’t been able to trade so I still use it in spite of the markers on the edges coming off more and more (I put those on myself so I could navigate easier).
My NIV study bible that my brother bought me when I graduated from high school 17 years ago. Wow – time flies!
Barb Holzkamp
The Grandmother’s Bible NIV
My first bible was so special to me. I received it from my kindergarten teacher when I learned how to read. I cherish it to this day…
I would LOVE to win this Bible…Such a great giveaway!
