Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.

I love myold NASB my parents gave me as a teenager, it is falling apart but we have been through so much together, and I have a NIV, for bible study’s and taking out of the house, the old Bible doesnt go to far without loosing parts.

My favorite Bible is my pink and orange NIV that I got when I graduated high school. And 8 years later I am still using it!
My favorite devotional Bible is the Living Bible. I purchased it when I graduated from college in 1972. I like to use NIV for Bible study.
Precious Moments Bible? How about The Psalty Bible?!? Does that ring a bell with anyone? My kids were raised with that one! I have been using a Women’s Devotional NIV for the longest of times and keep trying to convince myself to start fresh. So glad to hear that you, too, Lindsee, have palpitations at the thought of a new Bible! May God choose just the right person for this special Bible of Beth’s in tomorrow’s drawing! 🙂

I have a NIV Women of Faith Study Bible. It’s purple and it has a ton of room to write little notes on the side.
I would absolutely treasure a Bible like that. I lead a women’s group and my husband would be so happy to have his dining room table back since I have taken it over with all my Bible study aids. Now when dinner is ready, I can just pick up one book:)..Thank you!

My favorite is the NIV study my bible was given to Me somebody had given it to the church because that got a new one so my church gave it to me it is an old one and I have it all marked up with verses I memorized with Beth in 2009 then the ones I memorized by myself in 2010 then the ones I memorized with Beth in 2011 I would love to have a new bible I have been wanting to get one but right now unable to . Currently my bible is being marked up in James memorizing.

But it’s been great through BibleGateway.com, first, to read verses in different translations, & now through the Holy Bible You Version app. It’s opened up translations I would not have sought out – NASB, NLT, God’s Word – all of them! And this year I’m reading through The Message Remix – great perspective!
My favorite Bible is a Thompson Chain reference in NIV. My very first job was specifically for the purpose of purchasing this Bible, because I’d never had one.

I love my ESV bible that I purchased before traveling to Houston for the SSMT celebration of 2010. It is getting a bit worn, the pages are no longer sticking one to another and it has been with me through a few of the hardest years of my life. Lots of tears fell on the pages of this little red bible. I just love it!

Hi, I’m Janet Stowell, and I’m currently using a hardcover Ryrie Study Bible (NASB) that I got for my birthday in (gasp!)1981 from my husband. The cover has finally ripped along the spine, and I’m in desperate need of a replacement. The Ryrie Bible has seen me through the birth of 2 children and their growing up years, and several of my husband’s surgeries. I won’t part with it, but I would love to have this new Life Essentials Study HCSB!

Favorite Bible: Message Bible
My name is Andrea Mulholland. This bible looks great and yep who doesn’t like a new one. My favorite bible is sort of a tough question but I think the Jesus Storybook Bible is one of my favorites right now. We read it most nights with our kids and they are starting to ask questions and remember things we talk about when they are praying!
My favorite Bible has to be the first one I bought for myself when I came to Christ at 15 (a black leather NIV with my name on it). I still have it. However, my favorite version for reading and studying has to be NKJV!
I love my OLD Living Bible. I retreived it from a garbage can in 1974.

My favorite Bible is my Life Application Study Bible (NIV). the first one I got was in college, and when it was time for a new one, I got one just like it. By my bed, I keep three different Bibles (and they are three different versions). I use a different one every month.
My favorite Bible is a Women’s Study Bible that was given to me when I was a young mother and not much time to spend in my Bible everyday. Now that my children are grown, I still find myself going back to it!

Liz Baird-My favorite bible is my NIV Life Application Study Bible. It’s where God saved me, so it is very special to me. It fell apart, and when a treasured friend at church heard about it she insisted on having it rebound for me. So now it is twice as special! I have since gotten attached to my Holman Every Day with Jesus Bible with devotions by Selwyn Hughes. God has spoken to me so mightily in these pages, and I give Him all the praise and glory for continuing to transform me thorough His powerful, loving, and life-giving Word!
I love to read my NIV Life Application Study Bible. Last year I left it on the front porch and my new puppy chewed the back cover off! I “repaired” it with packing tape and I’m not embarrassed to carry it to church anymore! LOL!
