Welcome everybody! This is our first gathering for Children of the Day and we are incredibly blessed to have you along! If you’re just now hearing about it, we’d love for you to join us! You’ll find it most helpful to begin by reading this previous post that includes our approach, our summer Bible study schedule and many other specifics: (SSBS 2014 Info post) All you need to participate is the workbook entitled Children of the Day. We only officially “gather” here on the blog every two weeks because summers are so busy.ย On each of those 5 Tuesdays (starting today), you’ll find a video I’ve prepared for you with instructions for that day. I’ll also remind you to do the next 2 weeks of Bible study before our next gathering. View it personally if you are going solo or, if you’re joining in with others, with your small group. I’ll always put the bare bones of that gathering’s instructions in print in the post as well (as you’ll see below) in case you have any trouble viewing the video. Here’s your first one!
Basic written instructions in case you have trouble with the video:
Register for our summer Bible study by simply leaving a comment to this post per instructions below. Of course, you can take part without registering but you’ll get much more out of it if you fully participate. It not only increases accountability. It stirs up a sense of belonging and fellowship which is so important to us here in this blog community.ย
ย
Hereโs what we’d love for you to supply in your registration comment today: (Try to limit yourself to this information so it will be easy to read and count.)
ย
1. Your NAME.
2. Your CITY.
3. Whether youโre going SOLO or in tandem with a small group. If you’re in a small group, share approximately how many are in your group and where you are planning to meet.
4. Share in a sentence or two why you could really stand to be in Bible study this summer. Maybe itโs that youโve never been in one before. We would be elated! Or maybe it’s been a long time. If so, this is a great time and place to come back home to the heart of Jesus. Maybe you’re just hoping to get to know Christ a little better. Or, perhaps you’re interested in particular subject matter that appears on the pages of 1st or 2nd Thessalonians. On the other hand, maybe you especially need to be in the Scriptures because you have extenuating circumstances that could really challenge you this summer. What’s motivating you to get into the Scriptures with us this summer? There are no wrong answers!
5. BONUS question (optional):ย WHAT IS A QUIRK OF YOURS?? Come on, now! Tell us!
If you’re meeting with a small group, share your answers to questions 4 and 5.
ย
I will pitch out a memory verse each week for anybody who wants to participate:
ย Week 1 Memory Verse:
ย 1 Thessalonians 1:4 The NET Bible: We know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that He has chosen you.
Week 2 Memory Verse:
1 Thessalonians 2:8 The NET Bible: …with such affection for you we were happy to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
Do WEEKS ONE AND TWO of your homework before our next gathering in two weeks! If youโre watching the OPTIONAL video teaching sessions, you will want to watch Session 1 this week before you start your homework and Session 2 before you start your second week of homework. Here is the link: Children Of The Day Sessions
Don’t feel pressured to go to the added expense. All you need to participate in the summer study is the workbook.ย
I am so honored to serve you and study with you this summer! Can’t wait to see your names and locations! So much love to you, Sisters! We joyfully embrace each one of you.ย

My name is Jessica Woodworth. I live in Hannibal, MO. I will be doing this group with one of my dear friends and we are really looking forward to it! I am a stay at home mom and we homeschool, so I often feel like I am not able to give Bible study the time I should. These kind of structured things really helping to focus and I am so looking forward to it. A quirk on mine is that I can’t stand the sound of people chewing gum! I have to really fight that.

4. The Word of God energizes me and enables me to get through the life changes I’m desperately trying to make.
5. When I hear or read a scripture verse that speaks to me, I will most often write just the scripture address on anything I can find to write on at the time. In quiet moments, I can pull from an assortment of scraps of paper, look up the verse and let God’s Word soak in….love those treasures! (The quirkiness about that is where I find even a tiny little corner of an envelope or a larger piece of paper with scripture addresses all over it….I can find them almost anywhere, even in my car.)
Gig Harbor, WA

5. Two quirks for the price of one:
A. I love Pepsi and milk or Dr pepper and milk.
B. I am a child magnet. No matter where I go in public, little children come up to me to talk or wanting me to pick them up. My spiritual gift is working with children and I often lead children’s Worship so maybe it is not really a quirk. Sometimes I feel like the pied piper.

4)Not my first study, but due to working one or more jobs has prevented me from attending a study in quite a few years. Am now in between full time employment due to some health issues and have been hearing from God to go back to school and get my degree in theology. Want a group of prayer warrior women to pray and study with for guidance.
5)HUGE Star Trek fan! Because of the Star Trek culture of rightness, morality, equality, truth, and personal integrity; I began aggressively questioning science to either prove or disprove a higher power. As a result, I am now a HUGE Jesus fan!!! Science and mathematics so beautifully proves a magnificent and precious God. Space, the final frontier… where one day Jesus will take me on voyages the Star Ship Enterprise could never go. ๐

I’ve never done a bible study on here before, this is my first time, also I’m going through a bit of a trying time right now and I could use all The Word I can get.

4. I just always need to be in a bible study to stay grounded & in the word! I continuously strive to learn & grow in God’s word & strengthen my relationship with The Lord. Although this is my first solo study I am confident, after doing so many of Beth Moore’s studies, that I will feel such a part of this online group even sitting in my living room at home!

4)It’s been a really long time since I have done a bible study and I want to get closer to God.
5)One of my quirks is that the volume on the tv or radio has to be on an even number.
I am from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and am going solo. I am in a small group with the “Womens Bible Cafe” that meets on the internet.
I choose to keep myself in Bible Study after Bible Study, because I want to know more and more about our great Lord and Savior. I so want to be more like Him!
I’m having a tough time thinking of one of my many quirks, but what keeps coming to mind is one that my sister always shares….I love most things that white and shiny! I have found that white is always an “in” color that never goes out of style and my white dishes goes with every kind of theme by just changing the napkins and tablecloth. I like shiny things because their so much easy to clean! ๐

Very small group – my husband and I
I promised a dear friend I would join the Siestas and this summer you are doing a Bible study so here I am and very excited to be here!
I always drink diet Pepsi (much like Beth’s coffe addiction) and the tab must be turned 90 degrees to the right. Go figure….

4. I’ve never really done a Bible study like this so I’m excited. I am in a Small Group every other Friday but this feels like it’s going to be different, touch my soul differently. I love my church. I’m on the Welcome Team, taught 2-3 year olds and just recently started Small Groups for elementary age children. I’m not going to lie though. Sometimes I feel like the kids might know more when it comes to the Bible so one of the MAIN reasons I’d like to do this is to become closer to God and learn more about the Bible and myself.
5. I asked my husband about quirks because I know I have some but probably don’t even notice and he said, “I’m not getting into that, lol.” ๐ So, I’ll have to pay attention and see what little things I do!
