“With long life I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:16 NKJV
At the beginning of memorizing I had set my mind on Psalm 91, but it is only 16 verses long. I decided to memorize scripture that proved my need for Jesus over and over and I selected 8 verses or passages that would speak importance to me for the initial 16 weeks. Then, while memorizing the 91st Psalm I found that it spoke over me the love and power of God Himself, not only in my day to day commission, but also His protection. The first third proved my need the second two-thirds proved God’s provision! This has been an incredible journey! Thank you for sharing this beautiful gift with me (us).
I will be memorizing God’s word through 2018 and beyond.
“The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!'” Luke 17:5,NIV
One thing I’ve appreciated about this blog is the accountability! This forum is positive, enthusiastic, sisters-in-Christ peer pressure! I need checks & balances to stay on track, even for very excellent goals like scripture memory. God provides and he is good. All the time.
Thank you for leading this, Beth. Your joy & leadership are lovely gifts to the many you serve. May God continue to be with your mouth (that really is a great verse!) as he has been so faithfully these many years past. Merry Christmas!
Corinthians 1:16-17
16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved,
by like a gazelle or a young stag on cleft mountains.
My verses have kept my heart peacefull and steady thru a rough year of my sister’s cancer diagnosis and surgeries and recovery and my own uncertainty over mammograms, but Praise The Lord we are both okay.

For whatever things were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:4-6 Nkjv
I have been encourage to memorize scripture this year because it just seems to help me become closer to what God wants me to be. I am a work in progress and I am amazed at what He can do to me. He is not finished with me yet!!!
Thanks Beth for all you and your team do to help all of us.
Merry Christmas!

I have found it to be the most fun this year to see from month to month what verse God gives me to memorize – always on the look out!
Meredith from Johnstown, OH: Her heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. Her heart is steady; she will not be afraid, until she looks in triumph on her adversaries. -Psalm 112: 7b-8 (ESV)

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:15-17
Memorizing Scripture this year has enhanced my prayers, because often when I am praying, one of the verses will come to mind and weave itself into my prayer. This assures me that my prayer is in accordance with God’s will. Or even something that is happening will bring a verse to mind. I am so thankful for this and I want to continue to memorize more Scripture. Today’s verse wrapped it up. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” See what I mean? I had chosen this verse to be today’s memory verse several months ago, as I chose a long passage broken up over time. God is at work! Also, this year, I have been listening to Christian music on You Tube when driving in my car. I have so enjoyed learning new songs and they have such beautiful words that have meant a lot to me. That is also addressed in today’s verse. “…as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” God is wonderful and His timing is perfect.

May He give you what your heart desires and fulfill your whole purpose. Psalm 20:4 HCS

And while they were there, the time came for he to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:6-7 ESV
This year has been different. I have struggled to memorize these scriptures but am not giving up on ending strong. The verses have been about building. I am praying that through the coming year, as I review these verses, God will show me how to be a part of building His kingdom!

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptable with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”
Hebrews 12:28-29 NIV 1984
What Scripture memorization has meant to me this year… it has been my rock during a difficult and stressful year of transition, from my oldest child’s last semester of her senior year of high school through taking her off to college in another state, not to mention the teenage trials of her three younger brothers still at home. Thanks, reverence and awe to our God for His goodness through all of this! I am so looking forward to SSMTC in Ft Lauderdale! This will be my 4th time to attend, Lord willing!!!

Job 11:16-18 (NIV)
16 You will surely forget your trouble,
recalling it only as waters gone by.
17 Life will be brighter than noonday,
and darkness will become like morning.
18 You will be secure, because there is hope;
you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
We went through a major move this year. I always submitted my verse but sometimes had a hard time completely memorizing it. We are almost settled in our new home so 2018 I will go back to those scriptures and memorize them. God has put this on my heart to do. Looking forward to 2019!
Nan Smith, Leawood, KS
“I must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what I have heard, so that I don’t drift away.”
This scripture memory practice has allowed me a channel to hear God’s Voice clearer this year. Praise Him!
Cindy Cannon, Brighton, IL
After he has suffered he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many and he will bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:11 (NIV)
I can not express how much memorization has helped re-wire my mind. God’s Word will never return void.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah. (Psalms‬ â€68:19‬ â€NASB‬‬)
For me, this year’s SSMT was about internalizing God’s promises. It’s been such a wonderful year, really getting these verses into my heart and into my prayer life. God is so so good!

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'”
Luke 2:11-14 KJV
This has been a very challenging year for me. The scripture memorization has kept me focused on my Lord, and drawn me closer to Him. I know without a doubt, He has brought me through it all. Thank you for the encouragement…and the discipline that was required to read His Word and stay close to Him.
Jane Baker from Pontiac, IL: “Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.” Psalm 119:24 (NIV 1984)
I have been memorizing the first 24 verses of Psalm 119. I love the Bible and its teachings and this passage encourages me to stay in His Word. When I recite “I will not neglect your word” or “I will obey your word” or “I have hidden your word in my heart” it really resonates with me how much I love God and want to know Him fully.
Alicia from Shoreview, MN: “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29 NKJV.
I started the year in Romans 12:2, and it was not planned at all by me, but somehow I have ended in Romans. A journey which could only be constructed by the Holy Spirit, which is our gift from God!
I started this journey searching for purpose and meaning. To shift my thoughts. I was searching for the gift and the calling God has for me within myself. Just feeling completely inept. Having nothing whatsoever to offer God or anyone else. Yet, right here God showed me this year, that it is not my talents and gifts that need to be known, but rather the gift of the Holy Spirit He has given us.
I went from feeling like I have nothing to offer, to knowing that I do. It may not be as visible, but it is as powerful as a woman’s influence is throughout scripture. “Wisdom is she”, says scripture. Though she may be overlooked, her influence by invisible power of the Holy Spirit never is.
Karessa, Peoria, IL:
…to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. Acts 26:18 ESV
I teach women’s Bible study at our County jail and so many of these Scriptures were purposefully chosen to strengthen me and to pray over the inmates. Also a very challenging year not knowing if my husband would lose his job. These Scriptures were such a life line! Not sure if I can make it to FL yet – hoping to!

for your love is ever before me,

The accountability helped me to stay with it. I loved seeing I can still memorize.Thank you.
Suzy Adams – Wheelersburg, OH – Hallelujah! For the Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! Revelation 19:6b-7a NIV
Luke 2:10-11
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
KJV
Kenora, ON: Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body will also rest secure. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:5, 6, 9, 11 NIV I actually memorized this early in the year and every time ALL YEAR that I have wanted to whine, pout or complain about my life, I have made myself recite these verses and they always transform my mindset into one of contentment and gratitude, praise God.

“The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 NIV

“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27
Working on memorizing the first chapter of James was challenging. This year was full of trials and I was constantly reminded to ‘consider it al joy, to ask for wisdom, to persevere, be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, be a doer of the word, remembering that life is fleeting and God gives perfect gifts’. God’s words helped me get through this past year. Thank you for the reminders and encouragement twice a month.

“Look to the Lord and his strength;
Seek his face always.”
1 Chronicles 16:11 NIV
I felt God’s presence in every scripture He led me to; His faithfulness and love brought me through the journey. Holding on to His promises.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her. Luke1:45 (NIV)
The last two years I have started my year by deciding on something I want to focus on in my relationship with the Lord. This past year it was focusing on truly believing God’s promises to me and living in a way that shows this unwavering belief. I incorporated the memory verse challenge into this by choosing verses that fit into this theme. This has been such a blessing because these verses jump into my mind constantly as I go about living life. Now to find my theme for 2018! I don’t know if you are planning to have this challenge next year, but if not, I will continue to do it on my own because it has been so beneficial for me this year. My prayer is that this has helped others see Jesus through me. Thank you for all you do!

that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

Every year at years end, I pray for the Lord to give me a verse to claim for the new year. I will admit that I was trying not to freak out last December 2016 when just one word kept coming to the surface. The word was “Pressed.” The verse that I feel the Lord gave me to go in support of that word was 1 Cor 15:55-58. This was the pillar I stood on as well as Eph 6. All these I committed to memory this year plus Ps 46. It was an extremely difficult year in every area of my life. But God! He was precious and faithful to give over and over again a word from His word that was a healing balm and a firm foundation to plant my weary feet on and is now seared on my heart! I have no idea how I could have even endured without His word this year! I am so grateful for ssmt! So grateful that Beth has cheered us on all year to hide his word in our hearts and minds. What a joy! I can hardly wait for the February celebration!
And now as only the Lord could do to end this year not somehow, but in the victory of His mighty and holy name and Truth of His word! Hallelujah!
“God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.
Exodus 4:!2 ESV
I had another verse picked out and then I watched the video and sobbed. I leave for language school in a matter of weeks to get ready to go on the mission field and have been struggling mightily with insecurity about language learning. As always, Scripture memory has been LIFE to me this year as I’ve gone through transition after transition. I have loved scrolling through the comment section and seeing what the Lord is teaching you ladies through Scripture. So much love to you, SSMT Siestas! I will be thinking of you all at the celebration from Mexico!
Joanna, Dallas, TX.
so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. -Isaiah 55:11 NIV
For me each verse has been a marker on my journey with God this year. Looking back through them, I’m reminded of the challenges I’ve gone through and how God has met me there and carried me forward. I felt like Isaiah 55:11 was the verse He wanted me to conclude this year with…a reminder that all of His Word will accomplish His desires and achieve His purposes, regardless. What a comforting truth to end this year and be ready to begin a new one! Thank you for encouraging us to hide His Word in our hearts. God bless and Merry Christmas!

Finally, brethern, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. Philipians 4:8 AMP
This year I made more of an effort to search for verses that spoke to me. I appreciate your encouragement and will remember that we never waste time spending it in The Word.

“Trust him at all times O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”
Psalm 62:8 NIV
Being part of SSMT and memorizing Psalm 25 this year has given me a ready supply of verses to confront specific, challenging circumstances that have befallen me throughout 2017. Knowing I have been memorizing in the company of Beth, the LP ladies and hundreds of other women has made me feel less alone and also stronger against the schemes of Satan with God’s word tucked in my heart.
