I’m very thankful for the accountability of SSMT. As I seek God, there are verses that speak to me
that I choose. God uses them according to the season of life I’m in. I’m so thankful for God’s faithfulness.

This was my 3rd time memorizing on your team and my 5th year of consistently memorizing scripture (since I kept it going in the between years). The change and growth in my walk has been exponential and miraculous! Thank you, Beth, and all the lovely ladies who make up your team. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t had the Word of the Lord engraved on my heart during the hardest and most earth shattering time in my life. Your willingness to encourage this team helped me begin this memorization journey. My eternal soul, who now has a deeper and integral abiding connection to our Lord, thanks you. All my love, Leah

This year has been my first time ever memorizing scripture. It has challenged and grown me and it has been such a blessing to have the word on my lips, and in my heart at all times. It has taken more discipline and creativity than I could have ever have imagined or predicted and I know I could not have accomplished it without the intercession of the Holy Spirit.

I’ve actually been praying a lot about my mouth lately. I am always awe struck when someone speaks a word from God to me directly where I am!

This has been life to me during one of the hardest years of my life. Each verse is God’s promise to me. Never thought I could do it but now I not only know I can but I’m hooked. Thank you Beth and team for always pushing us.

SSMT was the answer to my prayers. I knew God was calling me to memorize His word, but I didn’t know how to start. I saw your post last December and knew that was my “how”. I’ve chosen many verses based on my current situation & it’s amazing how many times God has provided opportunities to share His word. To God be the glory!!

As an actor I memorized hundreds of scripts, lengthy monologues, entire plays, but they were merely words…ink on a page. Memorable but not life changing. Only the God- breathed, living and active Word of our Creator seeping into the gray madder of my mind and burning into the deepest recesses of my heart has had power enough to change me, to cause a spiritual and physical metamorphosis, and to save my mind. Each Word committed to memory has indelibly and eternally marked me… not merely knowing them by heart, but knowing them by life.

Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever. Amen.
Beth, you once said, “Wherever we go, every word that abides in us, arrives with us.” I want Jesus to arrive with me and speak through me and it’s His Word that will transform lives. It’s transformed my life and I want to be so close to Jesus that I’m but a mere reflection of who He is. Memorizing the Bible is like breathing in fresh air…I have to have it!!! Thank You for cheering us on and keeping us going!!! I Love You Beth!!!

I must tell you that I have a canvas bag from Hallmark that I bought for my October birthday this year because I need the visual carry along reminder of what’s printed on it: “GO! I will help you speak & will teach you what to SAY exodus FOUR twelve” My hand shot up in solidarity with you and I am stunned by your words, Beth! I long to communicate in a way that is authentic and with good humor without being offensively sarcastic in tone. I’m talking about communication that connects. When my words collide and challenge may it be only for God’s GLORY.

I have been so blessed to be a part of this Team! This is my second year of SSMT, and I am not a young person, so memorization does not come easily, but it is wonderful to have some of God’s words tucked in my heart, so that I can recall them either for myself when needed, but even more, to be able to encourage others with them at appropriate times. I am SO sorry that I am unable (both in 2016 and 2018) to join the celebration in person.

Memorizing Scripture helps me truly focus in and meditate on what God is saying, and I love doing that. I’m a slow thinker and like to ponder the same Scripture for awhile. I am thrilled I was able to ponder and memorize Colossians 1 this year. Reciting the verses in this chapter whenever I felt anxious, moody, or down on myself, always changed my outlook and I felt so much better, even when I only had 9 or 10 verses under my belt. I am so grateful for this discipline and for the encouragement on this blog throughout this year. Merry Christmas to you, Beth, the staff of Living Proof, and to you all!
Lynda Rickey from Ocala, FL: NIV Psalm 139:24 – See if there is any offensive way in me & lead me in the way everlasting.
This time around, scripture memory has kept me in the Word as I have found life so very busy and my devotion time has disappeared but my memory work didn’t. It kept me in Psalm 139 every day.

Colossians 3:11 (NIV)
This is the first time I have memorized a whole chapter of a book. I started with verse 12 because it was meaningful at the beginning. My word for the year was “compassion”. I worked to the end and then back to the beginning. Now I’ve pieced it all together. It is so helpful to learn this way. Thanks for all the encouragement along the way!

Dear Beth,
When I attended your Toledo conference in September, Hosea 2:14-15 was my memory verse for that very time. Towards the very end when you told the story about your friend sending you the verse from Song of Songs and you spoke it aloud I want you to know that was not in vain. It was once again, God using your mouth to speak words of life over the multitudes and me, specifically. I look forward to the day when you heed the call to write that bible study on Song of Songs. 🙂
In His Love,
Valerie

All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one if them came to be.How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast are the sum of them! Were I to count them they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you. Psalms 139:16B-18 – NIV84
I had a very stressful situation at work a few weeks ago and had to defend myself from something that was told to the boss. I did not want my actions to hurt my witness and my Sept 1st verse helped me thru this. 1 Peter 3:8-9. The part about do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult but with blessing. Have not found the “right blessing” yet but it will come in time. Love all of you at Living Proof. Merry Christmas

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, not for men” Colossians 3:23
I memorized Colossians 3 this year. It has been LIFE to me. After 12 years of being a full time mama, the Lord called me to serve on my local school board. One of the largest in Michigan…quite a transition from stay at home mom to politician!!! Colossians has been so practical for me to lean on in my first year on the Public eye and SO fitting to end (I started with a verse from Ep. in Jan then picked up Col 3) with this verse about working for the LORD! God is so faithful and His Word is soooo applicable. Such great reminders to put off self (old) and continue to put on (new) Christ’s likeness!!
Bless you, Mama Beth for cheering us on. Probably would have given up in the hard parts of the year when life was pressing in hard but your encouragement made me continue. Thank you for your example! Love you and am praying about doing Galatians with you…seems sooo long! Tried James with you and only got 2 chapters in!!

Psalm 16:5 GNT
Having truth written on my heart and hidden in my mind is the best take away from SSMT (this is my 3rd adventure with y’all) – at the end of SSMT 2015 I memorized Ephesians 6:11-18 and my spiritual life changed forever – it is my go to scripture during morning quiet time and when praying protection over others. It was a game changer to understand God’s truth that the struggle is not against flesh but against evil. Memorizing scripture bears much fruit and unleashes the Spirit to change me, heal me and transform me.
One other comment I just must leave…Beth, love the new hair! I will always love “big Texas hair Beth” too…new look rocks!
