–I started SSMT in 2015 and continued in 2016 and this year was able to memorize the books of James and Titus as they went along with studies I was participating in. Love how it causes me to go to sleep repeating God’s Word!

2Cor. 10:5 KJV, Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
This experience has helped me hide God’s word in my heart, shown me I can stretch myself and succeed, and blessed me with an increased desire to continue the discipline of memorizing Scripture.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Thinking back over the year, I realize how whenever a verse spoke to me I quickly jotted it down to memorize later. I have verses on post-it notes, scribbled on to-do lists, photos of verses highlighted in my bible, and of course written on my index cards. Each verse is so meaningful and has given me such peace!
I have given them the glory you have given me, so
they may be one as we are one.

This memory group is such a blessing. I look forward to the next verse God is going to show me to work on. It is always one that fits my situation perfectly. God is so good. Thank you to everyone for going on this journey with me.

This helps me focus on what is important, God’s Word not the news or Beth or my pastor. They are all great and can guide and help but remembering God’s Word needs to be my love & passion & authority & manna for each day. THANK YOU for doing this.

For this reason ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I have not stopped giving thanks for you remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at this right hand in the heavenly realms,
Through memorizing scripture this year I learned to listen differently. Asking the Lord to teach me how to pair words and sentences together to remember and He showed me what a wordsmith He is and how little I know. It set a new fire under me to learn and devour and take apart. Funny how many situations occurred during this time that the Lord used the scripture I was chewing on to speak into what was going on. Thank you for encouraging us to do this. It has meant a lot to me.

Yakima WA I COMMIT: PSALM 9:1-2 GOD’S WORD TRANSLATION
1 “I will give You thanks, O Lord, with all my heart. I will tell about all the miracles You have done.
2 I will find joy and be glad about You. I will make music to praise Your Name, O Most High.”
The recent miracle: God has healed my brother of Stage 3 Cancer. Praise His Name forever!
It has been wonderful to memorize 31 verses from God’s Word. Before I joined back on February 15th, I had noticed forgetfulness had set in. It concerned me because my paternal grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s and my dad has advanced dementia of a different form. He has not forgotten immediate family but he has to be told who their children and grandchildren are (He has 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren). I prayed the Lord would help me and He has answered my prayer! I found a great online memory tool: Scripture Typer Bible Memory System.
I look forward to continuing to memorize in 2018. Happy New Year SSMT! Thank you, Beth!

SSMT has changed my life. A renwed mind (when I’d lost mine to fear) and an encouraged heart to battle the toughest decade of my life! This last verse I choose as a mantra. With deadly aim I shall let loose its truth over my quivering heart as we face the tumors growing on our 22 year old daughters skull. There is no way our family is big enough for this, but SSMT has taught me to cling to His word and watch it heal heart and mind. And so we declare on January 1st 2018…
“You (God) Are good and you do good.” Psalms 119:68a NASB

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]. John 16:33 ampc

Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3. NIV
Psalm 119:105 NIV – for Dec 1st
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:119 – for Dec 15th
Though I constantly take my life into my own hands,
I will not forget your law.
and Psalm 119:112
My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.
Why I did this? I have a brand new “on fire” christian working for me who knows and quotes scripture but weilds it like a sword. I needed to learn in order to effectively teach from God’s own words – and it has been amazing!
Did it start over for 2018 yet? I haven’t received an email…I don’t want to miss it!
Hi Dawn! We won’t be hosting SSMT this year. However, Beth has launched a new Scripture memory challenge “Memorizing Galations.” If you’re interested in memorizing the book of Galatians, you can follow along this Facebook page for updates: https://www.facebook.com/Memorizing-Galatians-267002807161858/?ref=bookmarks

Sorry for the late post! Spouse surgery and new grandbaby born and I forgot to post but had to finish this out! This exercise has shown me that there is a scripture to address my every need. God gives us exactly what we need when we need it. Also a comfort to see that others struggle with the memorization. It was an honor to participate.

I also found memorization a tool to help me fall asleep at night! This was a great experience!!
