Most of the year, I memorized James 1. God used the focus on perseverence to prepare me for applying, interviewing and training for a new job, not knowing during this lengthy process that my 106 yr old Mama would be called home to be with Jesus. I was strengthened by the verses in James 1 that I had committed to memory.
Billie! This is Billie! Your name of course popped out to me! Thank you for sharing your verse and your testimony! I memorized the book of James about 5 years ago and it was a long process but so worth it!!! You keep it going! You can do it! Prayers and Love, Billie!

What 1 thing has stood out the most in this scripture memorization endeavor? I can honestly say it has been a joy to memorize bigger passages of scripture than just one at a time. I feel like I’m there talking with and getting into character when I memorize bigger passages. I can really feel the message and the severity of what I’m saying. I don’t know if this means anything to anyone but next year I’m memorizing several in a row or even a chapter. Thank you Beth for this adventure. I’m so grateful to hide the scriptures in my heart! You have spurred me on along with my two friends that are coming with me to celebrate. I’ll see you in February! I can’t wait! I just love your heart for Jesus and your enthusiasm as you teach. It builds me up and encourages me to keep going. God has really used you in my life. Thank you again! God bless!

While dealing with my elderly parents and in laws, God used my verses to get me the through the struggles that go along with that. He guided me along unfamiliar paths and set my feet upon a rock, making my footsteps firm! It’s still a struggle, but I now have joy in it.

My end of year statement:
2017: God has shown me the way of life and filled me with the joy of His presence. The heavens declare His glory, and His law is perfect. How precious are God’s thoughts about me. He holds my right hand, and He is the strength of my heart. May I declare all His works. His unfailing love is better than life itself!

I often practice my scripture memorization when I’m alone in the car or on a walk. God often uses the repetition and privacy to teach me how to really apply these verses and what they mean. It quickens my heart and energizes me in a way that is hard to explain, but is such a gift.

Thank you for your wee video and encouragement. I had chosen a different verse for today BUT…your reading Ex 4:12 resonated HUGE. I began the SSMT this year by praying whether I should (was was committed to memorizing the book of Philippians – just a few verses left). Each verse I asked God to show me. And the exciting thing is He DID! Meaningful verses pertinent to where I was and where He was leading me. Just. Like. Today!! Ex 4:12 is directly from His Word through you, Beth to my heart – in answer to prayer. I leave in 2 days to another country to spend Christmas with beloved family who desperately need Jesus and I have been praying for the right words to share – that God would put a guard on my mouth – what to say…and what NOT to say. I am writing this with tears of gratitude. Thank you so much for your faithfulness.

to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
In memorizing Hebrews 4:12-13, I realized that Jesus is living and active, sharper than any two edge sword, piercing to division of joints and of marrow. I know He is the Word and He uses the word to do that, but when I tied in verse 13 to realize that no creature is hidden from His sight, I realized it was a Person not just the Book. Totally changed my thinking about verse 12. It added to it. ❤️Thank you for the challenge of this opportunity. I don’t know why I don’t continue it every year, but at least I’ve done this three times and have 72 verses memorized with you!❤️

Dear Beth,
The verses I chose to memorize this past year had to do with strongholds in my life. The first verses I memorized had to do with assurance of salvation. The next set of verses were in Ephesians 3 about the love of God. The last major set of verses were about worry. All these issues have been strongholds in my life for a very long time. I can’t say I have been totally been set free but I am much better today than I was at the beginning of the year. I am so thankful for your ministry. Theresa

Memorizing Scripture this year allowed me to take a deeper look into my desperate need for God. I took Psalm 63 into my soul, how I thirst for Him….and only He can satisfy. The first part of the year, I sensed a greater awareness of being forgiven and cleansed….Heb. 9:14, “How much more then will the blood of Christ cleanse us” Yes!!! Love the Word of God…

This is my second time participating in SSMT and I continue to be amazed at how God uses the passages that I select each time to comfort me, teach me, and help me to grow in Him. Thank you Beth and LPM team for this opportunity to be part of the SSMT community.

My word this year was “REST” and I spent the better part of the year memorizing scripture reminding how important it is to “REST”. This has sure helped me keep my focus on Him more and to spend the time just resting in Him.
