Rom 12-13
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need.
Practice hospitality.

God’s word changes us, it’s alive and active.
I picked my verse this week because I’ve been feeling
almost resentful… every piece of mail is request for money
it annoys me. But I know that IS NOT the attitude Jesus wants
me to have.
Psalm 25: 22
Redeem Israel, O God,
out of all its troubles.
I am not the best at memorizing BUT going over the verses and seeking them out has so much meaning. AND at various times during the year, one will pop into my head that matches the situation I am facing. How great is our GOD. I love the time with Beth and thank you Beth, for taking this time to encourage me, all of us. I miss the verses in the ‘off year’ and wish I would be disciplined to do this on my own. Blessings to all who helped us on this journey

So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:28(ESV)
Thanks for encouragement during the year. Blessings to all.
For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! Psalm 117:2
Gloria, Irving, Tx:
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us.” Psalms 67:1. NIV
Judy of Marietta, GA: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace”. Numbers 6:24-25 NIV
Katrina Gagner from Wichita Falls, Texas
And I am certain that God, who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
As much as God tells the Israelites, over and over, to remember everything he did for them, and Jesus tells us to “do this in remembrance of me” I know that I need help remembering God’s incredible ongoing faithfulness and work in my life. I chose each verse based on what God was doing in my life, and sometimes it was even prophetic! God had me memorize a verse that I was really going to need in the two weeks that followed. I wrote on the back of each verse in my spiral a few words that described what that verse was about and how God was using it in me. So now I have a wonderful way to look back through my year at how God was moving, providing, comforting, saving during the entire year of 2017, all the decisions and ups and downs. Thank you for this ministry! (also 9 is my “lucky” number. I’ve always felt God uses it to say “this ones for you” so being part of the 999 remnant was super special to me!

And now dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right and pure and lovely and admirable. Think about such things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 NLT

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength… Psalm 23: 1-3
Kim Hernandez , Roswell ,Ga “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James 1:17
Sallie Russ, Greenwood, SC “Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus remained at Corinth, but Trophimus I left sick at Miletus. 21 Make every effort to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, also Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brethren. 22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.” 2 Timothy 4:19-22 HCSB
One word testimony – from 2 Tim 3:14 CONTINUE
Kim Lee, Faison, NC: Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 2 Timothy 2:14-16. I started in July memorizing the book of 2 Timothy after completing the Entrusted study, and it will take me until next year to finish it, but these words of wisdom from Paul have enriched my life so much. And I have never challenged myself to memorize a whole book, but so far the progress feels great!

“The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

Doing this together with you all has caused my ear to listen more carefully when Scripture is being quoted. When a verse or passage hits me in the heart, I add it to my Scripture Typer app so I always have a list to choose from. God has surprised me so much with giving me the ability to memorize His Word fairly easily. I always thought that Scripture memorization was too hard, but He has proven that He will bring it to my remembrance as I’m memorizing it and when I need to apply it. The Lord has been so good to me!
Lisa from Wellington, KS – And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:13-14 NKJV
Jenks OK. As a mother comforts her children, so will I comfort you. Isa 66:13a NIV

“But as for me, I will watch expectantly for the Lord. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. Do not rejoice over me, Oh my enemy. Though I fall I will rise; though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a light for me.” Micah 7:7-8 NASB
Denise Ciofani in Lexington, NC. “Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” Exodus 4:12 ESV. What a blessing this is! I love how God speaks to me through each verse and I treasure the conversations that some of these verses spur with my Heavenly Father when I’m struggling to understand how a particular verse or passage should be applied to my life. This last verse is so fitting to that end because now I feel that He has spoken into my life through memorization, I can go and speak to other about what I’ve been learning – through Scripture, He is truly teaching me what to speak!! Thank you so much for all the time and effort this whole time has invested in this project. His Word will never return void!! Praise HIM!! <3

“Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.””
Exodus 4:12 ESV
This verse that Beth quoted in her video sums up this whole memorization experience for me. I have a terrible memory and when I was challenged to do this I just knew there was no way I could memorize 24 verses in a year. I know I couldn’t have done it without God’s help, and to see Him being involved in my life in such a tangible way has been life-changing. Each of the 24 verses have become so special to me! I find myself quoting them often – to other people and to myself. Now I’m praying that I’ll be able to keep them in my head and heart until I get to Heaven!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1 ESV
Susan, Houston, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” ESV. I was familiar with only the first part of this verse, and assumed the treasure was Jesus. Memorizing verses 6 & 7 together was enlightening. The treasure is light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus. God is so specific and intentional!
“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.”
James 1:27 NASB
This year the first chapter of James has been an encouragement to me to persevere through a time that has been challenging in my marriage.

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”
Ephesians 4:29 ESV
Its been a joy to memorize Gods word. It has made all the difference for me in my prayers, as I will pick memorized verses to help me in struggles, to praise Him and pray for others.
Isaiah 45:2 NASB
I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.
Though I’ve followed Jesus from my girlhood, I always read and memorized scripture purely as a discipline. Only in the past couple years of my journey have I begun to HEAR him, speaking to ME, through his word and it’s brilliant! For SSMT, I chose to memorize 24 verses that God has met me with very specifically, verses with which he’s woo’d me, reassured me, and given me sure glimpses of his measureless grace and deeply personal love. It’s been thrilling and sweet. ❤ I’m so thankful.

“Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” II Tim. 2:7 ESV
My husband and I have been memorizing II Timothy together this year. It has been such a blessing! We will continue on into 2018, because we are about half way through it now. Thank you, Beth, for the blessing you have been in our lives through many years. And may the Lord continue to bless your ministry for His glory. We love you!

The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped. Rev 5:14 (NIV)
When I chose my verses at the beginning of the year, I wanted a passage so they would all flow together. God gave me the desire to look for a couple of chapters that were all about Him. I landed on Revelation 4 & 5 and have been amazed by his holiness as I took in the scene in the heavenly throne room.
Chris Robertson from Fort Wayne, IN
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up others according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29 NIV
This journey has been a daily reminder that God is ALWAYS at work on my present circumstances . On those days when my hope was fading, saying God’s word out loud always lifted my spirits.
Angie from Bixby:

Exodus 33:13a ‘Now if I have indeed found favor with you, please teach me your ways, and I will know you, so that I may find favor with you.’
Allison from Albany, GA: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Doing SSMT this year has been meaningful as I’ve been pregnant most of the year! (We welcomed our baby boy on Tuesday of this week. Praise God!) Through the ups and downs of the pregnancy, God has faithfully met me in His word to give me peace and direction. I don’t have the right words to say what it has meant to me, but I’m so glad I have more of His Word memorized now. I know I will continue to need it.

“See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139:24 NIV
This whole psalm speaks to how God is so familiar with me, my prayer is that I would desire to know Him as well as He knows me.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:23 KJV
It is reassuring to me that Jesus didn’t come to fix all of my problems, but to save me from my sin and to be with me through all of life’s struggles and joys. What a Friend we have in Jesus!
Kerry from Houston, TX
God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
1 John 4:9,10 NLT
(I usually choose to memorize a verse around Christmas to emphasize the reason Christ is so important to us.) But prior to that, in June my mom suffered a stroke and all the verses I chose to store in my heart after that were selected to be a source of special encouragement for me struggling with concern, exhaustion, and pain. I can’t tell you how many times I have given those very verses to friends who have experienced hard times (like Hurricane Harvey!) since then! God truly does comfort us with the comfort He has given so that we can comfort others!
Nancy Casper, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.” Philemon 24, 25 NIV
What spoke to me in verse especially is verse 6 of Philemon (NIV)
. “…share your faith SO THAT you will have a full understanding of every good thing you have in Christ Jesus.” WOW when I do share Jesus, He gives me understanding of what I have in HIM!! Isn’t that just the best??!!!

Daniel 9:16 (HCSB)
Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, may Your anger and wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become an object of ridicule to all those around us.
My focus Word this year was “ trust”. But while studying “Armor of God” by Priscilla Shirer, I began to memorize Ephesians 6. Then I studied “The Daniel Prayer” by Anne Graham Lotz and memorized his prayer in Daniel 9. Both have been so applicable to our current world situation. I have prayed these passages over our government & the world situation. What a blessing to be able to apply these Scriptures in my life & the world around me.
Amy Fuggi, Baltimore MD
“to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. -Ephesians 3:21 NAB
Memorizing Scripture this year has taught me that I can do more and be more disciplined than I realized AND so many times throughout the year I have been in a place and one of my Scriptures has popped into my mind where I could help a friend or myself with hope, love, encouragement, gratitude, a reminder of God’s presence, peace, no anxiety and I could go on and on! Praying these Scriptures has been awesome! Thank you SSMT! My life has been forever changed!!

I memorized my verses this year with my two grown daughters and new daughter-in-law. It gives me great JOY to know that the next generation of women loves God’s word! (And they are quicker at memorization, too!) So blessed to walk with you siesta sisters and our daughters!
