“REJOICE in the Lord always. I will say it again: REJOICE! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” Philippians 4:4-5 NIV
I loved taking a lot of time each 15 days to select my next verse, reflecting on how this or that verse would help me live out my Christian walk. Sometimes i chose based on what I personally needed from God at that moment; other times my choice was based on how I wanted to be toward others. Ultimately, I selected verses to praise and thank God for His transforming power in my life through His Word and that in turn, God might use me through these memorized verses to encourage others. Thank you for this SSMT challenge.

Beautifully said – I’ve done the same and agree with you Ketha! May He use these Word’s we have hid in our hearts to bring His Life to others!
So thankful- what a wonderful year! Blessings!!

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

“Greet Prisca & Aquila, and the household off Onesiphorus. Erastus has remained at Corinth; I left Trophimus sick at Miletus. Make every effort to come before winter. Eubulus greets you as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers.”
I am amazed at the times I can recall sections from these chapters. This was a huge step of faith to even try to memorize chapters at a time. When I would be able to string 3 and 4 verses together it was thrilling. Thank you for challenging and encouraging us along the way. One of my most favorite things is giving my husband my spiral and saying the verses while he watches to make sure I say them correctly. Only God could help me the way He has.
Debbie McElroy, Zachary, LA: But the angel said to them “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great JOY which will be for all people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11 NASB
My word for the year has been JOY. What a great God to help me memorize and place verses of JOY in my heart to help me in my daily walk with Him.
JOY is the word I have picked for next year!
Stephanie Morris-Clark, Norman Ok
“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” Jude 24-25 NKJ
This is another one of my favorites.
Oregon… I haven’t always posted my verse each time but I am keeping up with my memory verses. Started with Ps 91 and ending with Ps 103:1-8. But will continue in memorizing all of 103.
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Psalm 103:8 NKJV
Susan Sarver, St. George, UT
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 HCSB
I generally picked verses that pertain to circumstances currently in my life. I was amazed how my understanding and application of the verses would often change as I spent time meditating and memorizing
Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (NIV)
A group of women from one of our church Bible studies was challenged by our leader to do this memorization together. Little did we know that very leader would be moving away in a few short months, and yet, this memorization has connected us and encouraged us. I am Extremely thankful for this chance to write a book of remembrance and hide His Word in our hearts together.
Rebecca, Louisa, VA
Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place
and gave Him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. ~ Philippians 2:9-11(NIV)
My church annually makes up a lovely packet of one scripture verse for each month of the year, and thanks to SSMT encouraging me to realize that, with God’s help, I can actually memorize scripture, I often used these as my first verse of the month, adding a complimentary verse as my second verse for each month. It was amazing throughout the year to see how God often used these verses that I had not picked to speak to my current circumstances. Thanks to SSMT, they are written on my heart, ready to remind me of God’s everlasting love and provision in all my circumstances. Thank you for all the encouragement throughout the year!

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise;
give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;

“Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things and by Your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11 ESV. This has been, and continues to be, a great time of mind renewing for me, equips me to pray The Word! Thanks for the joy-honor-privilege of doing this together. Merry Christmas Siestas‼️

The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:8 (NIV)
LakeCity, FL “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
Joshua 1:9 NLT
This year I wanted to focus more on encouragement and verses that said who I am so I can claim and believe that I am special and loved in God’s eyes as an individual. So this has helped me do better with it and then hearing or reading them elsewhere has reenforced them. Thank you. I can’t believe I have done it.
Hi Beth, My friend Sara Abraham and I from Canada, did not sign in to the website with our verses. But we both sure did memorize all 24 verses plus some ! So you can safely now say you have 1001 girls who did it!

“See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:24 (NIV)
I memorized the 24 verses of Psalm 139 (perfect Psalm to learn for the year). It really is a beautiful poetic song of David about God pursuing His children. Ex. “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast (v. 9-10). It doesn’t get any better than that!

Thank you Beth for encouraging me on this new journey! This was a first for me – always said I couldn’t memorize- but “nothing is impossible with God”! I totally identify with ‘Ketha Kruth’ – may what God has deposited in me bring life to others – for His glory! I’ve already seen Him use the verses to speak hope to others!
Loved your ‘mouth verses’ Beth and adding them to my next years list – what could be more wonderful than putting the Living Word into our hearts! I’m looking forward to next year!!

hold of your right hand and says to you,
Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13 NIV84
I did not have any idea at the beginning of this year’s memory work for SSMT that these verses would literally carry me through 2017, even now. I didn’t even know it over the summer while I sat with my Mom for 12-14 hour days in and out of the hospital and rehab, and some of the verses I memorized I wrote on the board in her room just for her. I didn’t know until the end of August when she unexpectedly went home to be with our King Jesus that my specific verses would be a lifeline to me. I know where my Mom, who taught me my faith, is now and I am beyond grateful for that hope and assurance. I’m filled with grief and sadness because I miss her. BUT GOD is so present with me, and is so speaking to me as much as ever through His Word, and He has HELPED ME! These verses will never leave my heart, the same as my Mom never will.
Until we meet again, Mom, I love you, and thank you and miss you very deeply. MARGARET A. CLARK Feb. 15, 1943 – Aug. 27, 2017
“Now to those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with it’s passion and desires” Galatians 5:24 HCSB
I chose Galatians 5 because years ago with Beth’s study on the Fruit of the Spirit I memorized the fruit of the Spirit vs 22-24, I even can quote them in the Greek, so I thought why not memorize the whole chapter. Well little to my knowledge did I realized the chapter was on circumcision (the law) and grace. It was a revelation to me that has captured my heart and I’m in awe of how God has used it in my life. I always held back over the years to to the memorization but this year I knew that God was calling me to go deeper. I can’t wait to share my verses at the Celebration!!!! Praising God for whom all Blessings flow!!! Bless you all Sisters in faithfulness of God’s Holy Word!!!

The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 HCSB
I am so thrilled to be doing this again for the fourth time with my precious daughter. Memorizing God’s Word together has been a great joy of my life. Especially this year as she became a bride as God answered a long time prayer we had for her. So excited to attend the Celebration with her again. God has been so good. I pray He continues to steep her in His Word and love. Amen!!!

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”
2 Thessalonians 3:16, NIV
This is my second time doing SSMT and picking out a meaningful verse each time has been a blessing as I invariably find the perfect one for my personal growth and situation at each point in time. I am terrible with memorization, but love having these lists of verses to review and reflect on knowing the choices were presented to me by the Holy Spirit as I strive to grow in my faith.
Carol McLaren from Pinon, Arizona – May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV
Note: This is such a great verse to end on this year. Getting to memorize Scripture with my Sistas has been a blessed journey in 2017. Spending the year in Hebrews has enriched my appreciation of Christmas. Thank you, the whole team for this opportunity.

NKJV version
23 Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them, then come and offer your gift.
25 Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

I have been doing SMV for many years and chose to start memorizing Ephesians 6 in August of 2016 and finished it up in July of this past year. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis in October of last year and having the first few verses of that chapter already memorized (Be strong in the Lord, etc.) sure did help me process that diagnosis and remind me that my bone’s strength also came from Him and I just meditated on the verses that followed and prayed for strong bones and strong confidence in Him to help me find the right option to take to deal with my condition. Well, miraculously, a place called Osteostrong opened up 5 minutes from my house and I researched it and began a program there that hopefully will increase my bone density and make me stronger for sure! SMV always gives me confidence to pray Scripture and trust He can and will give me what I need. That chapter on spiritual armor has been so perfect for me in this season. I plan to memorize Ephesians 6 in 2018!

The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
I have spent the day off and on reading everyone’s comments and what a blessing a blessing it they have been. I almost feel the Lord’s pleasure for the dedication to Beth’s challenge of all my fellow Siestas. I commit to continuing in 2018 even though sometimes I do more meditating than memorizing. I started the year with Jeremiah 15:16 looking for joy in His words and I finish with more determination to rejoice in the Lord always for He is with me!

I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
Isaiah 45:3
NIV
These verses have laid a foundation for me for what is ahead in 2018. They will each be in a piece of art I am making that will go on the wall in my house to remind me and my family of God’s Word and His promises. I also just finished The Quest which was tremendous. Beth, I have done almost all of your studies and this one was my favorite. I didn’t want it to end. Thank you for writing it. I hope one day I get to tell you how mightily God has used you and LPM in my life. Bless all of you at LPM!

The beginning of the year brought devastation to our family with the suicide death of my youngest brother-in-law. Were it not for me clinging on to memorizing scripture let’s just say it was a lifeline. Thank you.
Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
(Isaiah 60:1 NKJV)
I chose this verse because I love to read some passages from Isaiah at Christmas time. This verse spoke to me about the light coming. This world is so dark, and we desperately need the Light of Jesus Christ to be shining forth.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6, NIV)
I chose to memorize Scripture this year based on familiar verses that I use quite often, but either didn’t know the verse well enough to quote it in its entirety, or didn’t know where it is found. What a delight it has been to go through and find those verses I love so much, and commit them to memory, in context and where they are found. Thank you for a wonderful year.

Psalm 139:21-24 HCSB
I have been memorizing Psalm 139 over the last few months (four verses at a time). During that time, my daughter was in Africa on a three-month missions term. I have been able to share these verses with her…they have encouraged me through some difficult times while she was away and have also been an encouragement to her at different times and in different circumstances. Just after her return, and six weeks into traveling through a very difficult time in my life, God brought verses 5 & 6 to my mind again. “You have encircled me; You have placed your hand upon me.” In that position (ENCIRCLED by Him and with His hand ON me) nothing can touch me that He doesn’t allow. What a precious thing it is to be reminded, by Him, of the Scripture I’ve taken the time to hide in my heart. He is so good to us!
