Congratulations!! You did it!!
As we wrap a bow on our SSMT year and prepare for the upcoming Celebration, we want to send along our encouragement to you to continue in this great work. Some of you have already told us you are continuing to memorize on your own, or have even formed your own local teams. We couldn’t be happier to hear it!
Beth and LPM will plan to see you right back here next Jan 2017 to link arms together to hide God’s Word in our hearts. He is worthy!
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped is swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; (Psalm 130:5 ESV)
I want to praise the Lord for the gift of these Scriptures this year! As I review through them, I think of the many different things that have happened this year and how timely each passage was for the month I learned it – from the challenges of another pregnancy to the overcoming strongholds of anxiety to learning to discover delight and joy in the everyday. What a collection of Ebenezer moments!
I also have found that memorizing and meditating on these Scriptures has helped me see and begin to drive out the sin and stronghold of fear in several areas and replace it with faith in our Sovereign God. I would often recite these as I was driving – which before would be a source of anxiety for me – and instead became a time of connection with the Lord and being built up in faith. Thank you, Lord!
Proverbs 31:25-30 (NET)
She is clothed with strength and humor, and she can laugh at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also praises her: “Many daughters have done valiantly, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.

The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 NIV
What a great journey! Many of my verses this year have been about light and how God is light. Dwelling on this powerful word has given me the desire and courage to pursue more light in my life. Not only that, but I am also better equipped to recognize and turn away from darkness. This siesta is filled with gratitude and joy!

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. Psalm 63:1-5 (NIV)

I have loved memorizing scripture. My favorite thing was learning a big part of Psalm 139. It’s so beautiful–the words and message are so beautiful and loving. When I get to v. 5 “You hem me in behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me” I get tears in my eyes. How wonderful is the love that God has for us. To think that he has laid his hand upon me. Me, someone who falls short every day and messes up in one way or another. Me. Ordinary me, but He knows me and to Him I am special and loved and forgiven–and wonderfully made.

This year of Scripture memory has blessed me and my husband, who also selected and memorized verses right along with the rest of us. Each Scripture memorized has been a treasure tucked into my heart and soul; God has opened my eyes and given me understanding like never before! HE is my true treasure and I am so thankful and grateful to HIM who has saved me from this world…sweet, sweet JESUS!!

Philippians 1:11 (ESV)
I could weep as I think back on this past year and what the Lord has brought me through. I could have never imagined what this year had in store for me as I penned the first 4 verses in my spiral that I would memorize for 2015. But God knew. And he walked beside me as I endured hearing the words “You have invasive breast cancer” all the way to “This is your final treatment”. I know without a shadow of a doubt that at times He needed to carry me. But I am standing now…able to put one foot in front of the other. My hair is growing back. My strength and stamina is returning. And as the verse above says, it is all “to the glory and praise of God”. So grateful for you, Beth, and this ministry. May you and your families have a very Merry Christmas. Here’s to a healthy 2016!

I have so thoroughly enjoyed memorizing scripture this year! I have hidden God’s word in my heart and have a closer, more intimate relationship with Him. I am so very thankful!

This year has been a year of fighting & trying to overcome anxiety and ultimately BELIEVING GOD. This time memorizing Scripture has helped me fight this battle, and continues to do so. I plan to continue memorizing until the day I die as I’ve heard Beth say. Thanks for all you all do, I am grateful!

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Thank you Beth so much for issuing this challenge. So many time this year His Word came to me when I needed it. Sometimes to keep me from saying too much and sometimes to help someone else who was struggling, and most of all it gave me peace and an overwhelming sense of being loved. His Word is so precious to me!

This has been an amazing year. My bible study girls and I embarked on this journey with our hearts wide open and God has written his word on each of our hearts. Each 1 and 15 one of us would send a text to the others…”Hey Girls, it’s Siesta Day” and we would share our verses with each other in case we couldn’t find them on the blog. I’m so grateful for what the Spirit of God has allowed me to remember. Thank you Beth for your dedication to bringing women, your Siestas, closer to God. You are blessed to bless others.

This Siesta Scripture Memory has continued to bring me peace and joy. It has given me words to share with firends and relatives when they have needed a word from God. It has bought me comfort in times of stress. It has made me fall in love with so many verses and they will go with me for many years. Scripture Memory has made be closer to God and Jesus. It has made me see how scripture is alive and how it works in me and through me. I will shout God’s words from the mountain tops and I will continue to share with others how powerful memorizing God’s words is for their life.

This year I have had a couple of serious health concerns – DVT blood clots and uterine cancer. Jesus has led me to memorize Scriptures that tell me of His love, protection, closeness, and healing for me. I am now blood clot and cancer free! Praise Jesus! He continues to walk with me as I go through preventative chemotherapy and radiation. Memorizing my SSMT Scriptures has been such a blessing this year! Looking forward to the January celebration!
