Siesta Scripture Memory Team 2015: Verse 24!

Congratulations!! You did it!!

As we wrap a bow on our SSMT year and prepare for the upcoming Celebration, we want to send along our encouragement to you to continue in this great work.  Some of you have already told us you are continuing to memorize on your own, or have even formed your own local teams.  We couldn’t be happier to hear it!

Beth and LPM will plan to see you right back here next Jan 2017 to link arms together to hide God’s Word in our hearts. He is worthy!

I never thought I would be able to memorize 24 verses, but with God’s help and your encouragement I’ve been able to do it. Thank you. I’m in a minor leadership role at my church in the senior ladies ministry. The ladies don’t seem to like it, and I haven’t seen any real success yet, but each month I give them a verse on a business card and encourage them to memorize it. I plan to keep going with this in 2016. I’ve also been able to quote my verses at appropriate moments to those who are hurting or down. The verses also come popping into my head when I’m having a low or down day. Praise God for His wonderful WORD that will not return to Him empty. Thanks Beth and team…I’m looking forward to continuing in January. Merry Christmas and God bless you all.

Yea!! We get to comment 🙂 This has been such an amazing journey. While I have memorized scripture in the past, I have never done it like this before. It’s been a good discipline to have a schedule and it’s been a blast digging through scripture picking out a portion to memorize and choosing what version to use. I have been so blessed through this process and the verses have come to mean so much more to me. Portions I’ve memorized have also been handy as life’s trials have hit both me and my family and friends. I am looking forward to making the journey next month for the celebration!! Thank you Beth for all you do to get us into the Word. I have learned so much through your teachings and our scripture memorization. Love you – Yvonne Gearing

My year has had its ups and downs and trials and joys. I’ve clutched my spiral of verses through it all. I don’t have them all in my memory as firmly as I’d like, but they are life! The verses from the beginning of the year are deeply planted as I have read over them all year. Working over these verses has made my Jesus dearer and my relationship with Him deeper. I thank God with an overflowing heart and eyes that brim. Alleluia indeed! Loved this week’s video so very much! Thank-you! Thank-you to God! Thank-you to Beth! Thank-you to LPM!! Thank-you to everyone who shared. Thank-you to all the hard work behind the scenes.

      Linda Wright says:

I started out this year memorizing a Scripture that my youngest son (who is an adult away at college) challenged me to memorize. He wanted to memorize 1 Samuel 2:1-10. I didn’t want to let him down, but I needed accountability. I asked my dear friend Lisa Lucik to join me on this journey, and we have made it to our 24th posting. Praise God! I cannot believe I didn’t give up when it got hard…I know some of the Scriptures better than others, but I want to keep working because GOD is faithful! He will not let this work go in vain. It has been a huge blessing to see postings from all over and to know that there are so many of us who encourage each other through our posts! I saw another dear friend’s name, Fawnda Dooley, several months ago and that encouraged me all the more! I am grateful that God called each of us to this journey! I pray that He will use what I’ve learned to bless someone else.

“For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

The scripture memory has been life-sustaining for me. It has been a difficult year for my family. My aging parents have health issues, and I try to help them. Many of my verses have dealt with strength, hope, and peace which have been so helpful. However, the hardest thing was having my daughter be diagnosed with cancer on her 31st birthday. The subsequent weeks of evaluation and major surgery were so difficult. I had to daily claim verses to be able to live in faith and not crumble in fear. The very day before her diagnosis, I claimed Deuteronomy 31:8 for my verse. “The Lord is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” Some days I would recite that verse 100 times just to be able to breathe. Each new step of the road; meeting with oncologist, going for scans, entering surgical waiting room, etc., I would visualize that Jesus had gone before us, cleared the way, and then come back to walk us through. I don’t know how I would have survived without the Lord’s sustaining hand and His precious Word. Praise Jesus, my daughter has recovered, and is cancer-free. It is still hard for this mama’s heart not to worry about the “what-ifs”, but I reach for His Word in those times to get me through. I am so very thankful that this was a SSMT year. How I needed it!!!

Committing to SSMT has been life changing. The past year has been a whirlwind: I fell in love with the man God created for me, he asked me to marry him in August, and we’re getting married in 12 days! I have seen God at work not only in my relationship with Daniel, but with every single aspect of my life. Scripture has proven time and time again to be ESSENTIAL and ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY–without it, I would be so hungry and thirsty and would be looking for satisfaction in all the wrong places. God has been SO OVERWHELMINGLY FAITHFUL! I rejoice in Him for all He has taught me, and I will continue to be taught by Him.
I want to continue the SSMT even after this year!! I hope the gatherings continue, because I won’t get to be there at the celebration. Blessings to all of you, and thank you, Beth, for all that you do for Our Sovereign Lord!

    Your Sister In Christ,

    Kayla

    Isaiah 55:12&13

I memorized Isaiah 55:8-11 in March and April and wanted to keep 12 & 13 until the end! The Lord has taken me on a great journey this year and I have loved every moment. There are no words to describe the power this memorizing has had in my life!! I have been a Christian for over 20 years but have never intentionally memorized scripture like this. What an amazing difference! It has been so powerful to be able to call on these verses as I have faced different challenges! There are two big areas it has helped me. The first is in my relationship with food and body image and such. It has been so transforming to see this battle as a spiritual struggle and allow God’s power (and his Word) to reign in it. The other area is in my fear and worry. Some of the verses I chose REALLY taught me how to lean into God in those times and trust in Him. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

This is the first time in my several attempts at completing a whole year of SSMT that I’ve made it to the end. This has been a blessing to me. God has guided me through this and has removed 55 lbs from my body. I’ve quoted many a scripture while working out and pray daily that God guide me to healthy eating choices and strength through the workouts. I’ve been praying for my sisters who tweeted with you about their food struggles. I so get it. I pray for all of us that we never see the pounds that we have lost ever again.
