Bible Study, Anyone?

Good Thursday morning, ladies!

We pray all is well with you and yours this day.

Originally, we had the thought to post this on Monday, but then the big Winter Storm of 2014 blew in and kind of threw our system off kilter. We ended up posting information about Bible study instead, and the next day we hunkered down at our respective homes while the ice and snow barely reached the ground on Tuesday. Needless to say, things unexpected and unplanned for ended up swirling and here we are and it’s Thursday and I was not going to let this post go to waste.

If she comes to mind, you wouldn’t waste a prayer on Beth, or any of her family or LPM as she is preparing simultaneously for multiple teaching opportunities. Ones that have been on the calendar for well over a year, but the time is now so she’s neck deep in preparartion. I know I don’t have to tell you that she is one of the hardest workers I know which in return blesses us. We’re so grateful for your prayers and support. We love y’all so much.

So, onto Bible study! We usually don’t wait until nearly the end of January to hear from you about Bible study, but it’s better late than never, right?

Inquiring minds want to know, what Bible study are you digging into this semester? As we’ve mentioned here a few times, we just launched our Tuesday night Bible study titled: Breath: The Life of God in Us, but we want to know what you are up to?

How about we do this, tell us your name, your city and your Bible study of choice and if you’re going at it solo or with a group or leading or attending. There are countless studies out there today, so do not feel one ounce of pressure (and please do not hear us saying) that we only want to know if you’re doing a “Beth Moore” Bible study. It is our joy to hear all the different authors you are studying under!

We even want to hear from you if what you’re committed to this semester, or this year, is reading through the Bible in one year. That’s big, B I G, and we want to cheer you on and walk alongside you. Sometimes we’re not committed to something until we speak it out loud or write it down for someone else to see. A little accountability never hurt anyone!

To make it fun, I’ll go ahead and post my answer in the comments! I miss doing that!

This is short and sweet but we’ll look forward to hearing from you!

I’m in two group studies, I’m taking a BSF class on Matthew, and then a wonderful group of ladies and I have just started the Precept upon Precept course of Revelation part 4. We’ve been working on this study for 3 years, so we are really excited to see it through!

Also, in my quiet time I’m reading the Bible through this year. No fancy plan, just 3 chapters Monday-Saturday and 5 chapters on Sunday πŸ™‚

I’m not trying to be an over-achiever. I’m going through a particularly hard season of life, and I need as much of the Word as possible to combat the chaos in my mind and heart. Praise God, He’s faithful.

I am in the middle of a series of hip surgeries (and temporarily out of work while I recover) so the Lord has blessed me with LOTS of time to dive into his word and studies. Praise him for that. I am starting Beth Moore’s “Sacred Secrets” at a new church in a few weeks. I don’t know anyone in the study. But I know the Lord will be with me, and Beth’s familiar face will be on the screen so what do I have to fear?!
On my own I am reading about the people who had to do a lot of waiting on the Lord (a theme in my life right now). Right now I am in Isaiah. Up Next Jeremiah.
I also have Angie Smith’s book “Chasing God” – waiting to be opened!
Phew. that should keep me busy!

Our Pastor is doing a complete study of Hebrews. I am struggling because his theological grid is different from our Church’s for the last 30 yrs. We are doing a Precepts study of John which will take more than a year. I enjoy listening to Beth’s Studies online and miss the home studies we use to have. Pastor decided to end the Church sponsored studies because men were attending her classes. :~( but we are free to listen/study on our own. Loved Beth’s “A Heart Like His”, “A Woman’s Heart…”, and currently listening to her study through Romans.

Well, currently I am going solo trying out the ESV One Year Bible. It is a little discouraging as I am already behind and it is only January :(. Also, our church is memorizing Ephesians. Since we homeschool, I am teaching it to our 4 youngest children to help me learn it :). During the summer, I have a sweet friend that usually does a Siesta Summer Study with me. I just need to get back into my quiet times again consistently. I miss it!

-starting next week teaching a small group of women on Ouachita’s campus. we’re looking at faithful women in Scripture – pulling from several sources & approaching it from Beth’s statement at the LPL-Bossier when she said “you will act like who you think you are” & discussing the lies of Satan these women likely had to overcome to follow faithfully. it’s still gelling in my head but it will come together. πŸ™‚

A wonderful group of around 20 women began the study Sacred Secrets last Monday night. I am a group leader and had a great response from the ladies the first night. They have come to really grow and draw closer to our Lord through this study. I can already tell He is going to do GREAT things in our lives as we explore those secrets that keep us from truly being free in Him! He is so good to always meet us where we are in our journey!

We’ve almost completed the entire bible! Of course, we won’t stop there, we will continue to cycle through it as long as God gives me the grace to keep leading and writing.

I’m praying for all of you precious ladies! I just love to see God’s army in action!

May God bless all of your bible studies as He continues to draw us closer to Himself.
