    Elaine, Jefferson, GA

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
    Philippians 3:12-16 NIV

Wow! It blows my mind how God has used these scriptures to renew my mind this year. I started off doing good, but in early February things went terribly wrong. The chronic illness that I had been battling (now for almost two and a half years) increased in intensity and caused such a strain on me physically that I forgot all the scriptures I had memorized in January and was struggling to retain a single word.

I was about to give up when I decided I would put my faith into action. I was memorizing Hebrews 11, the roll call of the faithful. I was determined to be faithful, figuring that God would use these holy words to transform me, even if I couldn’t retain a single word. And through The Spirit, retain I did! Not to toot my own horn, but He placed on my heart to memorize a total of 74 verses this year. And through Him, I’m doing it! He proved to me that while I am weak, He is strong! When I’m failing, He remains faithful. When my mind is overwhelmed, He renews it day by day. Despite the challenges of this year, He has shown me what can happen when I truly immerse myself in His Word. This is a definite habit that I will continue. All the glory goes to God!

And to my dear Sister who gets to listen to me fire off these 74 verses next month in Houston: I’ve been praying that you will be richly blessed by the fruit He has grown in me. I can’t wait to see you next month!!!

    Fareen Doss says:

    Fareen
    Las Vegas, NV

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.
We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints”
    Colossians 1:1-4 NASB

I do not think I can express how much this has changed my life. I do not think I can ever have a time that I cannot be memorizing anything or doing something like this! I now need this in my life and will forever be changed. Thank you for showing me how and re purposing me for the Kingdom.

    Tara G. says:

    Tara G.
    Sherwood, AR

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it. And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,29 for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

    Matthew 7:24-28 (ESV)

Our pastor preached through the Sermon on the Mount this year and challenged us to memorize it in its entirety. Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

    Isaiah 40:28 NLT

God has shown me how alive His word is. When He says He is faithful, He has shown me His faithfulness. When He says He loves me, boy did He ever show it to me. When He says for me to trust Him. He has shown me that I can trust Him. Who am I for God to prove Himself to me. But He has! And when the times come when I don’t hear Him so clear. I will know that GOD IS FOR ME! And I am for Him! Always!

    romans 15:13 niv

may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

for this year I chose verses which I had never memorized before and which were from my daily devotions. God’s word is more precious than gold, silver and diamonds and is a treasure to me! I think of the many believers in times past (& some in today’s world like in china & north korea & other countries in which the Bible is forbidden or other languages in which it has not yet been translated) and I stand in utter thanksgiving that God has allowed me to be blessed with His living word. and then I think about how careless I am with this privilege of access to God’s very words and how many saints through the ages gave their lives for His Holy Word to be passed down….thank You LORD for Your love and Your Word and thank You for Your servants like beth who encourage me to hide Your word in my heart that I may know You and obey You and be used of You. amen
