(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)
Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!”ย I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.
If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.
OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. It can be your favorite song. Share ONE FAVORITE THING of yours (only 1!) with your Siestas today. It may mean that some of us find a new favorite something this very day.
Start it like this: My favorite (fill-in-your-blank) EVER is… (then, for crying out loud, tell us)
I think this is going to be fun. I’ll start with a really stupid one.
My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.
What’s your favorite something, Siestas??
One of my favorite scents ever is either burning leaves in the Fall or campfire smokey smell even the day after on my clothes.
My favorite thing on Tuesdays…they are John(4 yrs) & Mommy days. The other 3 kids are at school so we can read, play trains, etc. Just the 2 of us, sometimes we let Dad join us for lunch. ๐ Love you Beth & Siestas!
My favorite place is the beach, anywhere warm or cold. I love being there.
My favorite tissue is Puffs with Vicks!
That “favorite” made me laugh! Hadn’t thought I had a favorite one too. Must be present when I have a cold: Puffs with lotion.
My favorite day ever is today, because the Lord has redeemed my past, my yesterdays, forgiven all my sin & failures. He faithfully guides and directs us down the path of righteousness and rejoices over us with singing. Thank you, God, for today!
Amen, sister!
I think my very favorite thing ever is grandkids. I love watching them discover and think about their world.
I totally agree!! I truly believe grandchildren are God’s way of giving you a second chance to see the world through the eyes of a child?
Oh Yes! You said it.
My favorite denim jacket EVER was one I purchased at Dress Barn. I left it hanging in a public restroom in France and I just can’t seem to get over it or go into Dress Barn without whining about it. (ask my friend Jeannie)! ๐
Venti Peppermint Mochas. That’s all I have to say. ๐
My favorite vacation EVER was… to Disney World! It was my son Levi’s first time, my first time and my mom’s first time! How fun to have 3 generations visiting Disney World for the first time ๐
My favorite candy is Jelly Belly’s Licorice jelly beans. My husband bought them for me for Valentine’s Day instead of chocolate. Ironically, I don’t like any other flavor of jelly beans. But these, oh, I can eat them until my tongue turns black and goes numb!
That makes two of us sista!
My favorite thing ever is getting an assorted box of chocolates and taking a bite out of each one. I do this every Valentine’s Day thanks to my hubby. ๐
My favorite sandwich is crunchy peanut butter with dill pickles. Been eating it my entire life. YUM!
interesting! it actually sounds kind of good! if i didn’t know better i might think i was pregnant just for thinking that! lol!! maybe i’ll have to try one of those sandwiches!
My favorite coffee is dark French Roast ๐
My favorite dessert ever is the Chocolate Calzone served at Blue Latitudes in Dover, NH. It is ginormous. Filled with semi-sweet and white chocolate. Gooey. Warm. Served with ice cream. Drowning in hot fudge. It is to DIE FOR. With all sincerity to all you Southerners – it is SO WORTH THE TRIP. And you can stay with me (as long as I can come with you for dessert).
One of my favorite things is the “Eagles Nest” which is a free babysitting service in my local grocery store. The ladies who watch the kids are so wonderful. My kids love to go there and I get some peace while doing my grocery shopping! It’s absolutely one of my favorite things & such a blessing.
What a brilliant idea!
My favorite hobby for the last 2 years is reading my Kindle. I was going to say “my favorite author is…” but it just can’t be done!! It’s a toss up between Debbie Macomber, Angela Hunt & Terri Blackstock. My Kindle (with fav hot pink leather cover from my Mom) always has something from one of these 3 precious ladies ready & waiting for me to read!!!
Have you looked at the kindle skins? They are only about 9 bucks and are so fun!
I liked the site so much, I ordered two! One is a pink cow, called I love moo ๎จ
And the other is a pair of high heels called Diva Slippers. Good luck picking just
one! Also fun one called Stiletto ๎พ
The site I l used is:
http://www.decalgirl.com/Kindle_Skins
(there is an underscore between Kindle and Skins that is hard to see)
or just google decal girls kindle skins
There are literally hundreds to choose from, and they are VERY easy to apply.
I too have a hot pink leather cover! ๎จ๎จ๎จ๎จ๎จ๎จ๎จ๎จ๎จ
I almost forgot, Susan Wiggs is also an excellent author. I just finished one of her series of books and LOVED it. And Jodi Piccoult has to be one of the best writers of our time.
Happy Reading!

My absolute very favorite thing is one I share with my husband…..being on any beach, anywhere with our best friends, Steve & Sarah.
My favorite breakfast is chocolate chip pancakes! MMMM if only they werent so bad for me, so they are saved for the special occasions!
Two words… Diet Coke. My favorite addiction for sure. If they don’t have Diet Coke in heaven then there just may be some crying and pain in heaven after all!
My favorite facial moisturizer ever is Cetaphil cream (in a jar). It is totally amazing to smooth it on wrinkles at night and watch them disappear! I slather my face every night.
My favorite desert is a six layer chocolate cake with raspberry filling and a decadent
chocolate frosting. Around the edges is this amazing raspberry topping. I get this at my favorite Italian restaurant in Alaska. It has to be heaven sent. When I am through with it
I waddle out with my head held high.
Yum
My favorite place to get a burger and fries is “In & Out”!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their burgers! I also love to look for the scriptures that they put on their wrappers and drink cups!! MMmmmm! Maybe I need to get in the car and drive over to “In & Out”!
#2 animal style! Everytime we are in Ca visiting family we stop a few times. Good favorite, Gail!!
Scripture?? Awesome! I’ve heard many celebrities talk about that’s their fave burger joint. They always talk about going after their all-night Hollywood awards parties. Wish we had one nearby in South Georgia!
Hot Krispy Kreme donuts. It just doesn’t get any better!

Favorite song: Mercy Seat by Travis Cottrell ๐
Favorite movie: Lord of the Rings trilogy
My favorite technology EVER is the internet. Because we just moved into our new house and found out that we do not have access. Now in order to study or blog I must search for free hotspots like an addict does crack. (And I’m just being ridiculous too.) But truly, I need my wifi. It’s a sickness.
That is one of the funniest favorites yet…just the visual of you searching for wifi hotspots like an addict does crack. Too much!
My favorite thing……….Words! I love words!! Especially my “children’s words/quotes” I’ve captured on our family calendars over the years.
My favorite thing is pink flip flops. Someday I pray that I will live somewhere that I can wear them everyday!

Oh so many favorites! One of my favorite things is getting home to my husband and our 3 fantastic felines- and they all welcome me home from a hard day at work! Another favorite is that excitement that I get over learning something brand new from God- or the thrill I get from spending time with Him. I will also have to admit that this time of year I am also adding the Cadbury Egg to my list of favorite treats! Oh too many favorites to list- I am so thankful for them all!!!

My favorite thing to do is taking my family out camping!!
Those cozy nights by the camp fire!
My favorite thing is a diet Dr. Pepper. What makes it even more special is to go to restaurants that serve it. Not many do, so it is a treat to find one. This Southern girl loves it!
By the way Beth you know your lip plumper burns like fire because it’s causing your lips to swell with an allergic reaction! LOL the things we women do to make ourselves feel beautiful!! ( Grin! ) I love how transparent you are – Thank you for this little Picker upper!
HI Beth,
My favorite something is what i can’t get in Colorado, but I can get in New York, they are Empress or Presidential plums. I am telling you what, they are like eating spoonfulls of jelly and I miss them like crazy. I also got apricots like that too there. i think they will be restored to me when I get my glorified body and every manner of fruit will be readily available YEAR ROUND!!!
In the Beloved,
Anastasia
My favorite free-time activity is curling up with a good book, like one from Francine Rivers, Jan Karon, or the Zion series by Bodie Thoene. Just get lost in them!
My favorite thing to do is sleep. That’s mostly b/c I have a 4 yr old, a 19 mo old, and a 2 month old. My husband and I joke that my love language is sleep. ๐
My favorite “I need a treat” treat is a chocolate Zinger!
I have to agree with those that love the sound of a baby’s laughter (especially if it is a grandchild) and looking into those precious, beautiful eyes as they look right at you, just a little piece of Heaven right there in front of you!
i love my soma bras
You are just too funny…I have been reading along and even memorizing verses but haven’t posted…but I just had comment this time… and my best thing ever this blog and being taken by your ablility to express your thoughts the way you do is the best ever!!

My favorite facial product EVER is Clean & Clear’s Oil Absorbing Wipes. I take them everywhere to touch up my overactive pores and am pretty sure God will have a pantry full of them in my mansion in heaven. Unless He sees fit I’m oil-free in eternity.
My very favorite moisturizer is Clinique’s Dramatically Different! I have used it off and on for over 30 years, and I always go back to it when I get a wild hair to try something else:)
My son’s pacifiers. I just found out today that no new ones are being made and my heart is full of forboding. I’m stocked up for awhile, but I am very very much dreading the dark day when that last paw-paw (that’s what our little family calls them. What? ๐ cracks and blisters…….

My favorite phone call is every Thanksgiving when one of my sisters “gobble gobble gobbles” like a turkey to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving Day.
Too late to jump in? Couldn’t stop myself from sharing… My favorite candy EVER is Hot Tamales! The ones in the big box where you’re not done till your in that box up to your elbow. Made better only when paired with a movie and a big coke. Happy place…
my favorite Christmas memories are of us girls in the family making chocolate candied goodies, swatting the boys’ hands for trying to eat them early while we sneak them into our mouths ourselves.
Most fav thing – slow dancing with my husband and getting ‘dipped’ at the end of the song. YUM
A few of my favorite things are Lancome Aquatiques(eyeshadow base, waterproofs and makes shadow stay on forever) and Lancome’s Defenicils mascara! Try them Beth you will love them both!

My bit of heaven on earth!!
