(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)
Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!”ย I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.
If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.
OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. It can be your favorite song. Share ONE FAVORITE THING of yours (only 1!) with your Siestas today. It may mean that some of us find a new favorite something this very day.
Start it like this: My favorite (fill-in-your-blank) EVER is… (then, for crying out loud, tell us)
I think this is going to be fun. I’ll start with a really stupid one.
My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.
What’s your favorite something, Siestas??
My favorite coffee creamer EVER is International Delight brand, flavor is Hershey’s Chocolate Caramel. It is SOOO hard to find, and when I do I stock up! LOVE it. One of my friends jokingly refers to it as my “elixir of life” ๐

My favorite season is whatever one we’re in – loving X-country skiing and being snowed in with my family this winter, love crisp apples and the beautiful colors of changing leaves in autumn, love fresh picked strawberries and roasted sweet corn rolled in butter eaten out on the picnic table in summer, but my absolute favorite are those first mornings of Spring where I wake early, grab my coffee and bible and can sit out on my porch swing to greet the day with my precious Lord Jesus!
My favorite hairspray is Aquage Finishing Spray. It has great hold and a light scent, so it doesn’t take your breath away.
One of my “favorite things” I found while travelling. It’s the Breck Conditioning Shampoo that we used to have “way-back when”. One of the motels we stayed at had it in the little one-ounce bottles but you couldn’t find it in the stores. After some research – found that it had changed hands and could only buy it at Dollar Tree, but it was not the same formula. Finally tracked it down through restaurant supply place – course had to buy a case of it and now I have enough for 2 years!!!!! But that’s okay too!!!!
My favorite place to be is on my Mom’s front porch visiting.
My favorite drink ever is a Venti Iced Chai with skim milk from Starbucks! Ask for an extra pump of chai and you won’t ever be able to pass up a Starbucks again:)
Peanut Butterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
Oh, it’s hard to pick one. But I would have to say one fave thing right now as I am anxiously awaiting warm weather is flip flops, bathing suits and taking my boys to the pool on my half day summer Fridays. (I guess that is 3 but they lump into one thing so I think that counts) ๐
My favorite Yankee Candle: Midnight Summer
My favorite Disney movie is “Mary Poppins”.
fav thing to do : watching Gilmore Girls from my dvd collection while drinking Girl scout Thin Mint cookie milkshakes!
My favorite? When I pick up my hubby after a long business trip and I still get “the flutters”, when I see him watching for me.

my favorite thing is being on with my two sisters, Lori and Jene’….anywhere:) we live too many thousand miles away from each other.
Usually I would say that my favorite time of day is around the dinner table where there is an abundance of laughing, sharing, guffawing, snorting and general silliness. (all of which is observed with a quiet smile on my husband’s face.) But today, my favorite time is now. When the tucking in and prayers are done (yes, I still do that for my 20 and 22 year old who are home temporarily till God open doors later this spring for them to do their next move, as well, as my 11 year old.) Now, when I can peruse a couple blogs, check how Joanne is doing, reply to any email and maybe even play my turn on my scrabble games on Facebook. And wind down and say goodnight to my Lord who has gotten me through another long day.
My favorite time right now is when my 6 year old son asks me to sing to him at night
before bed. He is so active and busy during the day that when he finally
settles down, it touches my heart so deeply to share this sweet time together. God is
good!
hold on to that as long as you can!!! How sweet…
My favorite board game EVER is The Settlers of Catan. For any game lovers, I highly recommend it as it can continually be expanded with new additions to the original game. Our family can’t get enough of it right now!

I don’t know if I can pick just one favorite thing! After all, my girls are always talking about things and I say “Oh, that’s my favorite!” Angela would tell you that she knows no one with more “favorites” than me. It’s the only reason she truly believes that she and Chloe really are BOTH my favorite daughters! I have so many favorite songs I can’t think of a single one without hearing it first! I’ll tell you my favorite son since I only have ONE!!! My favorite son EVER is Jeremiah William Paparazzo, born on November 11, 1998 at 5:23 p.m. after 14 hours of labor! I thought I was going to die! I knew I was! Josh’s families really into natural childbirth and I broke their hearts when I started begging for drugs and I MEANT IT! I never did get my drugs by the way! With all three of mine there was always some reason I couldn’t have drugs! By the way, Josh swears I was only in labor for 10 hours, but that’s because he was asleep for the first 4 hours! Then, the screaming began and didn’t end for 10 hours, so he couldn’t sleep! By the way, I love shopping so much that my daughter put a background on our iPad that really made me smile! It has lots of drawings of all sorts of clothes and accessories and it says, “Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping.” I love it!
My favorite sound EVER…is the sweet voices of my grand babies saying my name…Grammy:) Melts my heart into aorta soup for sure!
Since it’s winter and I’m cooped up in the house when it snows, my favorite thing is to throw treats into the deep snow drifts and watch my Beagle dive into the snow and disappear looking for them, and when he emerges his little brown face is white as the snow and his ears are frozen and sticking out, makes me laugh!
My favorite song is “Deep in love with you” by Michael W. Smith!!! LUV LUV LUV it!
My favorite thing is playing a game with the family… it is truely a sacrifice for them as I am the only Game addict in my family!
Rocky Road ice cream a close second :o)

My favorite way to unwind is with a hot bubble bath. All my best times IN the word are usually spent trying to keep it OUT of the tub water!

My favorite thing about God used to be His faithfulness – He has been so faithful to me. As I got to know Him more, my favorite thing became His perfection- He is briliant and has thought of everything. Recently my favorite thing about God has changed to be His lovingkindness. O how gracious God is, not just loving but lovingkindness!!!
