(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)
Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!” I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.
If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.
OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. It can be your favorite song. Share ONE FAVORITE THING of yours (only 1!) with your Siestas today. It may mean that some of us find a new favorite something this very day.

My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.

My favorite electronic devise is my Kindle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t want one at first because I just love the feel and smell of books. But oh the joy of being able to travel with many books and having only one small item to carry. And I absolulely love that the screen is able to be seen in the sun. I have spent many an hour on the road or on the beach reading.

My favorite thing is PG Tips Tea. I am very much a tea snob.(can’t stand tea from the USA) My heart is red, white and blue but I must say when it comes to tea I fly the Union Jack! If I was there during the Boston Tea Party I would have jumped in and tried to save all those precious tea leaves!!

My favorite place to be/thing to do is anywhere in the ocean scuba diving. The quiet, other than your own breathing, is relaxing, the beauty is unsurpassed. My first dive I came away amazed that God made all those beautiful fish and colorful coral, thousands of years ago, knowing I would learn to dive and go down to see it. Why else would He make everything underwater so beautiful? The fish don’t know/care what color they are! He knew we would one day be able to spend time enjoying His handiwork! LOVE IT!

The best EVER pet – my 3 year old golden retreiver Bruce Wayne (kids named him – always gets a laugh). His bones grew wrong and he has no cartiledge on his front knee joints – 3 vets said he wouldn’t make it to his first birthday. My daughter prayed and said mom I believe the Lord is going to touch him. He is still kicking today. Knees look funny but he is painfree. He goes where ever we go – even to church (where he waits in the car of course). I will never forget the day a friend wrote on facebook – “what do you do with a 7 year old boy who says he saw Bruce Wayne at church” she knew her boy was with me in the parking lot – but didn’t know my dogs name!!!! Still makes me chuckle!!!
My favorite ice cream scoop is from Pampered Chef. Scoops great everytime.
My favorite thing right now is Fuddrucker’s ice tea. I drive by every day and get a large tea, 1/2 sweet, 1/2 unsweet, lots of ice. I might eat lunch with my friends at another restaurant, but then sneak by Fuddruckers after and get my tea! How weird is that?
My favorite season is winter with beautiful, bare trees and sparkling snow. The power has been off for a mere 3 hours so we’ve been blessed this year, (so far).

After being disappointed numerous times over products that come and go, I am settled in the fact that the key is HOW MUCH you appreciate them while they are here! This applies to people too. I often say to my husband “You’re my favorite”. The first time I said that he said ‘favorite what?’ And I said “Favorite of everything!” It’s caught on and we both use this term now. (understand that God and His Word are a given #1 in this statement!)
My favorite thing ever is a gorgeous sunset on the beach!

Oooh, I love this too! I can’t believe I didn’t think of this! I think it was way too late last night for me to think of much. I don’t get on here very often these days. My life has been CRAZY! But, I have to say I think the ocean sounds the best, but if you read my comment on the post about our happy places, you know I’m partial to the ocean anyway!

My in-laws have a house on Lake Michigan. I almost chose it as my favorite. Nothing like the sound of the waves and looking out to where the water meets the sky. God’s Magesty, right there! Praise the Lord!
I love the Mother/Daughter times. My daughter is 37 and I love her better than my next breath. One of our favorite things is sitting on the back deck with our family and lighting tiki torches. They smoke and spit but we love it. Lots of laughter and problems fill the air.
One of my favorite memories is our vacation to Big Bend. Three days of no electronics, lots of hiking and talking together, taking in God’s majesty. One night, in the middle of the night, my husband threw open both doors to our cabin to let the very cool breeze rush in. We looked up to the skies to see the most stars we have ever seen in our life. We stood in awe. My favorite Bible Study is Believing God. God used it to transform my life. I have never been the same. Praise His Name!

One of my most favorite things is my grandmother, who God gave 94 years on this earth, but has been with Him for almost 30 years… much of my childhood memories have her in them, because she lived with us and was my sitter, as mom worked. She taught me to drink coffee (at a very young age, with liberal amounts of milk and sugar)… how to work hard… an avid gardener… and read her Bible for hours at a time, when the garden wasn’t calling. She loved Perry Mason and I Love Lucy. A very special lady!

my favorite coffee is Starbucks Christmas blend, with just a splash of hazelnut syrup and room for cream. Too bad it’s only sold during the holidays. Maybe that’s why it tastes so good . . .because I can’t always get it 🙂

The website Paula’s Choice, based on books by Paula Begoun, the “cosmetics cop”. She has great reviews on all products and suggest alternatives to higher priced cosmetics that are just as good. Also, now has her own line but I don’t mean this to be an endorsement. I just find her reviews great.

My favorite feeling in the world is when my niece (Isabella – 3) and my nephew (Jacob – 2) see me and their faces light up and they run at me screaming “Auntie Jenn, Auntie Jenn!” The best feeling EVER!
Followed closely by Izzy saying, “Aunti Jenn?” I say, “Yes Ma’am?” Izzy says, “I love you! Just wanted you to know.” My heart is a melted puddle.
My “new” favorite makeup tip is to warm your eye lash curler with your hair dryer before using. (be careful not to get it to warm) It really works! It really makes your eyelashes curl 🙂

My favorite thing ever (being 38 weeks pregnant!) is shaved ice with no flavor! I chop it up in my ninja and eat it at least 3 times a day – I can feel the burning craving in my throat right now!
This is torture picking only one;) BUT, my favorite mascara of all time is Lancome’s Definicils. It’s not cheap, but I’ve found that one tube lasts a long time, longer in my opinion than less expensive brands. It is so fabulous that my HUSBAND noticed my eyelashes!!
OK girlfriend THAT right there is when you KNOW it is good! I am gonna try it! My husband and i have been together now for 9 years and I have always used the same Grape eyeliner from Clinique (if you have green eyes like me it looks great with this plum liner) anyways i ran out and didn’t have a chance to run to the mall to get more and i had to use black and well mine was kind of backwards but he noticed that he missed “the other kind” haha he didn’t know what the change was at first so we had to talk about it to figure it out. My favorite vacation spot EVER is Charles Mears State Park in Pentwater, MI! I have been going there literally since before I can remember. We always went the with one of my Aunt and Uncle’s family. Now we all go as a family. My cousins go with their families as well.My nephews and nieces are coming along now with their spouses,too.Quite the family tradition! My favorite week is in June when my parent’s and I go to their time-share in Gatlinburg. I’m 56, they’re 83, and we’ve been going for at least 25 years. We have our favortie places to go while there and it’s just a relaxing time together. The drive up and back is a real highlight, too. I’m a lucky girl.
