(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)
Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!” I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.
If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.
OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.

I am an absolute coffee lover, BUT this drink makes me litereally smile every time I take a sip…Almond flavored Milk Tea with Boba. Have you ever had BOBA? OMG!! I smile just thinking of it…nothing else like it! And it comes with the funnest, fattest straw you’ve ever seen!
I hope I spelled Boba right…it might be Boaba?
My favorite smell ever is freshly cut grass. Does anyone know of a perfume that smells like this?
Bath and Body Works has a scent that is similiar. 🙂
My favorite is….watching the sun rise over the ocean, then set in the evening over the river, God’s glorious creation at it’s finest!
Two of my three sons are away at school. My favorite thing in the world is when they are all home at the same time~ when I go to bed at night I can hear all three of them laughing together watching TV downstairs. They have the same goofy laugh, and it’s both heartwarming and actually very funny! Then in the morning, it warms my heart to come out of our room, look down the hall and see all three bedrooms occupied by sons~ all safe and sound at home.

My favorite hand and face lotion ever is Kiss My Face Olive Oil & Aloe!
My most favorite memory ever is spending a week in Hawaii with my mom and five other girlfriends.
Favorite Christian fiction author is Charles Martin. That man can write! If you haven’t had the chance to read one of his books-you should! He’s so good!
My favorite movie is Jane Eyre (the Masterpiece version). I’ve watched it at least 6 or 7 times.

having a real sit down breakfast (at home)…you know…with bacon and eggs and grits and toast….with my hubby. Who knew 41 years ago, he’d cook eggs so perfectly.
My favorite thing EVER is Girl Scout cookie ice cream. My mother-in-law owns a cafe’ with a scrapbook store and I have a girl scout. The store bought lots of boxes of thin mint, peanut butter patty, and caramel delite and …….are making ice cream and shakes with the cookies! Edy’s also has a few gs cookie flavors during this time!
My favorite pen is the Pilot G2 gel 07 series. Several colors and they don’t skip or bleed.
Favorite color is the wonderful soft brown.
Favorite calendar is my journal calendar called our country diary. found it at Barnes and Knoble.

Oh, me too. The bummer in my house is it always turns into fighting just moments later. It kind of puts a damper on the joy knowing what’s coming when they’re around each other too much.
My favorite dessert ever is Chili’s molten chocolate cake. I was very distressed when I went last week and it appeared that they had switched the chocolate to peanut butter….but alas they now have both and have not abandoned the chocolate!

My favorite salsa ever is Publix deli salsa! I love this salsa so much that I would eat it with a spoon, no chip required!! Sometimes Publix even makes it a buy-one-get-one special. On those special occasions, look out world! I hope you have a Publix close by to indulge on this fantastic salsa!

Shipley’s is the best! Growing up in Little Rock, we had them lots of Saturday mornings.
OK…if I were to fill in the blank of my favorite thing ever, it would be, of course, God’s gift of himself to me. But, in the vain of “Oprah’s favorite things” kind of blank, I would give the audience a bottle of Tilex’s Root Penetrator. Spray on any yuck you may find in your bath (mold on tile…not to say I have any, just giving info for those that might 🙂 & walk away. Come back to sparkling white tile & clean grout. Love it!
As for mascara, L’Oreal still makes the one with a white end & a dark end–it does wonders with mine & doesn’t flake at all, ever. Just don’t forget to put the dark one on 🙂
My Favorite thing is sitting back and listening to my children (all 5 of them) when everybody is home. ( my children range from 29 to 15)
I was listening to them one morning and asked my Grandaughter Peyton if Grandma’s children were loud and she said “yes they are”! I love them so much my heart could burst.
My fav is a ratty old flannel granny gown. I have had it FOREVER and can not bear to throw/give it away. It is so soft; but so thin if I wore it to bed the first time I turned over, it would probably tear! COMFORT IS THE NAME OF THE GAME.
My favorite thing to do EVER is watching meteor showers from my deck. I live in the country…I see a lot of them. I feel like I’m watching God’s personal fireworks show made just for me!
My favorite memory ever…is when I thought up how I wanted something to happen and it happened even better than I hoped. My man and I danced the polka (a style of country dancing) to a really good song, that I requested, and we overtook the dance floor. We had our own audience. It was a blast!

My Very Favorite Recipe Ever (today 🙂
Lettuce Wraps
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1# ground chicken or turkey
1 Tbl grated fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2c stir fry sauce
1 Tbl vegetable oil
Hot Sauce to taste
1/4c choppd cilantro
Iceburg or boston lettuce
1/4c chopped dry roasted peanuts
Put chopped onion in a bowl.
Put ground meat in bowl with ginger and garlic. Stir.
In large skillet heat oil on high. Add green onion.
Stir until wilted, then add ground meat; reduce heat to medium.
Cook and stir until meat changes color. Add the sauce; stir to coat meat.
Add hot sauce (I add red pepper flakes) and heat through.
Remove from heat to add cilantro.
Sprinkle with chopped peanuts and roll in lettuce leaves.
Serve with rice. :):):)
I always make a double batch and share these…. They are just too good and too easy to keep to myself. The real blessing came when a dear friend, who is in the last stages of cancer, asked if we could possibly share a lunch of lettuce wraps together just last week. What a wonderful lunch party we had! Thanks for asking us to share….

My favorite cookbook EVER is Paula Deen’s The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cookbook. OH. MY. WORD! The butter, the sugar, the goodness! I have received more compliments on my cooking from recipes used from that cookbook that ANYTHING else I have ever made. It is the ONLY cookbook that travels with me between the States & Africa.
My favorite ice cream EVER is a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of butter pecan in a waffle cone. You can tell by my comment I’m trying to lose some weight!

My favorite feature in this apartment is the heated floor in the bathroom; it’s the warmest room in the place now that winter has arrived!

Mascara is, Lancome-Hypnose Drama (Yeah, that was soooo named for women, what man would buy anything that had the word “Drama” in it?)
My favorite fragrence is, the first whiff of daffodills in the yard…and my perfume – Jade by Bvlgari.
Favorite sound…the squill of my grandson (one year old) when he sees his GiGi (me) first arriving at his house.
The thought of this things sweeten my coffee, even without the sugar.
My Favorite Forever Friend is My Jesus :). As our family goes through an incredibly difficult trial that’s testing our marriage & family life, Jesus is there beside me every single step of the way. He sometimes even picks me up and carries me 🙂
My favorite body/handcream is Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Orange Ginger. It is literally the only thing I will spend that amount of money on. I can go for store brands of other things, or less expensive brands, but I gotta have my BBW orange ginger!

My favorite breakfast now includes a french toast bagel from Panera Bread with their reduced fat honey walnut spread. May I just say that I nearly over-dosed on those that my stomach began a revolt against me. I now limit myself to one a week or so.
My favorite drink EVER is a Diet Dr. Pepper from Sonic. They put a little sumpthin-sumpthin extra in there. I don’t know what it is but it rocks my world.

My favorite night ever was this past Friday night when my husband of 11 years took me to an adult prom with our friends at a neighboring church. Dancing in the arms of your dressed-up love of your life is priceless. P.S. Because of our testimony (God makes beauty out of ashes), we were selected as prom king and queen.
