My Favorite (Fill-in-the-Blank) EVER

(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)

Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!”Β  I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.

If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.

OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. It can be your favorite song. Share ONE FAVORITE THING of yours (only 1!) with your Siestas today. It may mean that some of us find a new favorite something this very day.

Start it like this: My favorite (fill-in-your-blank) EVER is… (then, for crying out loud, tell us)

I think this is going to be fun. I’ll start with a really stupid one.

My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.

What’s your favorite something, Siestas??

One of my favorite things is Eucerin Redness Relief (line of products). Since being pregnant with my oldest, my cheeks have pink/red splotches. I’ve seen a detmatologist who told me it was broken blood vessels due to underlying rosasia. The only way to get rid of the problem is to have laser surgery (and there is no guarantee that it won’t come back). Eucerin Redness Relief calms it down so that I don’t feel like I have red light bulbs on my cheeks πŸ™‚

What fun! So many favorites…so little time! One of my favorites was my acrylic nails. My natural nails won’t grow, so loved the way my hands looked with the acrylic’s. Now I’m allergic to any nail product — makes the skin around my eyes puffy. I’m still hoping for products that will work for me. (Beth’s always look so nice.) Thank you Beth for filling my life with wonderful Bible Study. I love being in His Word with you; and have made amazing friends because of it!

My favorite ice cream is Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, slightly melted after bringing it home from the grocery store. That first bit takes me back to my childhood and waiting for the ice cream maker to stop churning and the instant brain freeze from that first bit of real homemade ice cream.

My Favorite thing is Mary Kay Eye Make Up Remover!! I just got introduced to this recently and I love it!! Works great and you only have to use a little bit!! A funny to go along with this is that a friend of mine, whom sold it, gave me a sample and I throw it in my draw and never gave it a second thought!! A year later, I am traveling with my cousin and she says hey try this….I am hooked and I LOL when I think I have had this the whole time and didn’t even try it……Isn’t that how we are…..we have gifts in our live and we don’t even use them!! I believe the saying could be used here…..use what your “daddy” gave ya!!!

I used to sell that very item… many a moon or so ago… And let me share just one other beauty tip. If you are trying on different lipsticks – just have you a cotton ball handy with a little eye make-up remover on it and swipe the lip color off your lips and then try another. It works wonders.

I have since moved on to Neutrogena’s Eye Make-up Remover. I like it as well, and it lasts a good while — and is cheaper to boot unless you’re doing wholesale. πŸ™‚

How fun! My favorite latte maker is my stove top Mukka Latte. I make my very own latte right on the stove. It can go to the cabin as a small kitchen tool and is easy to clean. Love making flavored lattes for my friends and serving them in cute teacups with scones.

I also highly appreciate your topic today on when and how to share important stories from the stage. As a speaker, I loved your advice.

My favorite thing ever… choclate covered cherry’s.
I’ve loved, and I do mean LOVED Chocolate covered cherry’s as long as I can remember, there was always a box at my home growing up during Christmas.they were made by Brachs’ then all the sudden Brachs was no more, or at least not making my CCC which meant no more Brachs’ CCC’s for this gal. now what is a gal to do with that?…well there is nothing I could do. People gave me the other brands of the CCC, but they were not as good, just didn’t do it for me.
A few years ago my husband found some Dark Chocolate Covered Cherry’s made by Russle Stoffer. WHOA BAAAABY !! they are waaaaay better than what I had before. If you have never tried them…you gotta.
I cannot eat just one, that would be wrong, I have to have a least 4, two for each side of my mouth, oh the dark chocolate is so… how do I say this? DOWN RIGHT DELICIOUS !!
    I want some now y’all.
thanks for the time out of my not so good day and giving me some fun.
    Love y’all

My favorite encounter with a wild animal was NOT the encounter I had with the baboon who stole my dinner roll nor even being able to pet baby lions, but patting the back of gorillas who sat against the glass of their enclosures (at the St. Louis Zoo) just so you could do that. That was just too sweet. (And this morning I stood at my bird feeder and spoke to a little yellow finch who must have either been demented or sick because I am no Francis of Assisi.)

Looking forward to seeing you in Charlotte!

I LOVE to read. And I never, ever thought I’d say it, because I LOVE real hold-in-your hand books. The smell of fresh (or even musty) pages, the sound of those pages turning, using bookmarks my kids made in school, highlighting or writing notes in the margin, on and on. So what I NEVER thought I’d say is that my new favorite thing is my e-reader that my family gave me for Christmas. At first I was almost appalled by it and shunned it, but now it’s on the favorite list! One more lesson in the ongoing never say never saga. (smile). Love you all – have a wonderful day!

My favorite shampoo & conditioner EVER is the Arbonne FC5 daily shampoo & conditioner.

Oh my lands!!! The smell is so fresh and clean that I have often washed my hair twice in a day. And as some of you ladies may know it can be hard to re-do your do, so that is some serious business to me. Plus, I have to critically ration it out so it lasts as long as possible since I have to order it from my friend. I’ve also caught my hubby trying to slyly sneak it out of my shower on occasions. Is it entirely wrong of me to hide it from him now??? Hee hee!

My favorite thing ever is hearing God play with me… the most recent one went like this:

You know how those energy efficient light bulbs take a while to get bright? I was looking at myself in a mirror and the light had not yet gotten bright… You could see none of my wrinkles, I looked more like 30 than almost 50! I said “LORD! If you wouldn’t mind having this particular lighting follow me around all day I would really appreciate it, I look so good”! And that’s when He said (in the same voice I had used to address Him) “Ya, but your looking at the wrong side…” I was stunned for just a second and then I started laughing!

Of course it’s the inside that matters most, and I love the way He reminds me of it!

My favorite book ever is “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers! When I read it four years ago it revolutionized the way I see how God loves me. It’s about a man named Michael HOSEA who God tells to marry a long-time prostitute named Angel. Well ladies I believe this story is annointed by God! I just reread the book in January and God used it in my life again in a huge way. I can’t stop recommending it! The very beginning is sad, dark, and a little shocking, but it’s only a necessary background to a moving, epic love story mirroring the one between us and our Lord! And don’t forget to read “About the Author” in the back; it’s the author’s awesome testimony.

  45. 1295

My favorite foundation EVER is Mary Kay’s mineral powder foundation (I think that’s what it’s called!). I’m not a re-seller of it…I just think it’s fabulous! When I don’t have it (the few times I’ve run out and had to use an off brand), the compliments about how radiant my skin looks completely cease! And then when I’ve got it back again, I find times when complete strangers walk up to me and say, “Your skin is AMAZING!” If they only knew that it wasn’t 100%-just-Christine. ;o) I’m just saying…love it, Love It, LOVE IT!!!
