(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)
Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!” I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.
If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.
OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. It can be your favorite song. Share ONE FAVORITE THING of yours (only 1!) with your Siestas today. It may mean that some of us find a new favorite something this very day.
Start it like this: My favorite (fill-in-your-blank) EVER is… (then, for crying out loud, tell us)
I think this is going to be fun. I’ll start with a really stupid one.
My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.
What’s your favorite something, Siestas??
Favorite ice cream = Breyer’s vanilla. I love the way it softens and gets melty (is that a word?)
Daffodils.
I wait all year for them to wake up, pop open, and smile at me. Their warm yellow colors whisper to me that warmer spring weather is nearly here. More importantly, they remind me of special people and memories, like walking through the woods with my cousin Leslie, who is like a sister to me, when we were children in search of more and more daffodils. As adults, she and I still like to get together once a year to find daffodils. With permission (once in a while without ;)), we like to dig up a few to transplant in our own yards and share with others. I have some of hers in my yard, along with some from her mom, our aunt, and my mother-in-law. I also have some from other dear ones who have passed on: my sweet mama, our grannie, our great-grannie, and my husband’s grandmother. Those are extra special! These sweet, simple little flowers represent precious memories and significant people in my life. Like those people, daffodils are always there for me. Maybe I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like, but they come back to me time after time and are more beautiful than I remember.
Lord, thank you for your faithfulness to us, even though we don’t deserve it.
the best: holding a pudgy child’s hand – while walking together. nothing compares !
ahhh, well – maybe a passion iced tea, no syrup from Starbucks !

Makes me smile:) My favorite fast food tea in the South is Orange Tea by Petros (A fast food, chili and chips place). It has hints of cloves and oranges in it, and if you get it “half and half” like half sweet and half unsweet, it’s just about the right amount of sweetness. It’s usually what I drink when I go to the mall:)
Love in HIM, ((HUGS)), have a blessed day today:)
My favorite thing (which is not real good when you’re trying to lose weight like I am) is homemade decorator’s cream cheese icing. I decorate cakes and have to make a double batch every time I do a cake with the cream cheese icing….yummy!
My verse for March 1 is:
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
My favorite beauty treatment is Fango Active Mud for the Face and Body by Borghese.
I used YEARS ago when I really couldn’t afford it. I love the smell, I love what it does. Recently I was at Costco and low and behold……FANGO. I ripped it off the shelf, threw it in my cart without even a breath.
Then I use it on my face. ONCE. Love the tingle….I know it’s doing the work. THEN….oh then….I go to my Thursday morning Bible study and someone says, “Wow, your skin looks great.” And, then, a few days later, “Wow, your skin is looking good.”
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE FANGO!!!
So I’m at the point where I really can’t afford it, but I have added it to my Amazon wishlist so I don’t forget about it! (Just thinking about the tingling gets me all excited!) 🙂
My favorite thing is……a desert that has half baked chocolate chip cookie dough, and hot fudge (warm) on the bottom, with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream on top and whipped cream and a little more hot fudge on top of that. I wish I could have it every day!!!! But I do have it one a week! 🙂
My gotta have everyday favorite item….Avon’s Moisture Therapy Lip Balm. 🙂
Oh my goodness! We are ALWAYS stocked up on that stuff!
My favorite thing is SUNSHINE!!! Without it I go crazy! NO more grey days! My fave place to soak up sun is Hilton Head Island with my daughter.

My favorite eyeliner ever…Lancome Black Artliner! It is the best!!
my favorite house slippers are from haflinger. they are a little pricey, but well worth it if you don’t like cold toes and want them to last. i have had my one and only pair for four years and i just recently wore a tiny hole but they are fantastic! my fav for sure.
AND hey, try l’oreal double extend tubes. i’ve been trying it for the last few weeks and like it. i was in a bind trying to find a GREAT mascara that did a lot like NOT smudge or flake. i searched and can you believe that there is even a ‘mascara report’? http://www.closetofstyle.com/images/docs/pdf/MascaraReport9-2010.pdf
My favorite thing(s) are loving touches from the people in my life… Like the way my mom used to gently brush the hair away from my face when I was sick or sad…Or the way my dad carried me on his shoulders or gave us piggy back rides when we were small (& watching him do the same with my own little ones)…or the way my hubby sneaks up behind me and hugs me and whispers in my ear…or the way my teenagers still scramble half-asleep to the door to kiss me before I leave for work in the morning…or the all-encompassing,swallow-you-up hugs from my down syndrome sister…or the way the little ones grab my face with both hands when they want to tell me something……There’s just nothing sweeter this side of Heaven!
My favorite nutritional supplements EVER are made by Standard Process…and distributed through a nutrition response testing practitioner who LOVES JESUS! Six smaller pants sizes and minus fifty pounds later (in nine months), I’m SO glad God sent them my way…it’s so nice to be able to keep up with my kids without getting winded…and to be able to do something BESIDES collapse on the bed on the rare occasion that my five year old actually takes a nap.

The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. IT does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

I know I’m late, but I’ve gotten behind on my blog reading! My absolute favorite dessert is dark chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory!!! Yuuummmmm!
I just found this blog and cried my eyes out when you said you were my blog mom. My mom died when I was little so I am always longing for a mom figure. But my favorite nail polish is OPI “I’m not really a waitress”. Just always makes me laugh to say the name.
That’s my favorite OPI polish too!
I love it too…my husband will actually request me to wear it.
today is my birthday, so my favorite birthday cake is my mom’s homemade white chocolate amaretto cheesecake with an oreo cookie crust. pair that with some coffee, and i’ve got it made!
My favorite lipstick is one of the cheap ones. Kiss of Caramel by Jane. Goes with everything. Stays on and doesn’t taste bad. But (sniff, sniff) I can’t find it anywhere and would buy ten more tubes if anyone out there can find it!
Favorite winter slipper EVER is the foot duvet from Restoration Hardware – like a mink coat for your feet!
My favorite lip gloss is Nars in Vagabond. It comes in this little tiny pot and it’s almost annoyingly sticky, but I la-la-love it 🙂
My favorite thing to wear ever is my fuzzy purple and flower-dy pajamas with my fluffy blue house shoes.
I look a sight in them but oh my the comfort! Lurve them!
I love, love, love the fragrance of the men’s cologne Dolce and Gabbana’s (sp?) Light Blue. I walked by a man in Wal-Mart who was wearing it and felt absolutely hypnotized by it! I felt very awkward, but asked him what he was wearing so I could get some for my hubby. Oh man, does that smell amazing! Lol
Renee, S. Carolina 1 Peter 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
My favorite moment ever is when out of a blue the children I love say, “I love you!”…just out of nowhere for no reason. It makes my heart melt.
My favorite “pair of tweezers” are a from Avon. I know this is quirky but last year I bought loads of this wonderful travel set and gave them to all my friends. They are a travel set that fold up into themselves and fit in a nifty little case. Perfect for the drawer in my desk at work, the glove box of the car, my purse. Seems as I age I have hair growing at a rapid rate of speed and never want to be without a pair of tweezers to deplete! AND they were under $4!
I love philosophy bath gel……MY FAVORITE…..any flavor will do but Cinnamon Buns is incredible….
Karen from Kentucky, All this I have told you so that you will not go astray. John 16:1 NIV
Thanks for this article. Generally I can say that it is a a good post.
Although I have some favorite products (Jason soap, Viva papertowel) and books (Outliers, A Different Mirror), I am going to share one of my most favorite memories because when I think on it now, it still makes me laugh. Some years ago, I was in a Walgreens with my son, Jordan, who was 5-years-old at the time and who also happens to be autistic. This Walgreens was in an affluent area and it’s not rare to see women in the winter around this town wearing fur coats to run errands in the snow. That day, I was picking up some really boring things like floss and envelopes. My son Jordan, who was finally, slowly beginning to formulate complete sentences was actually quite quiet while we shopped- until we got to the register to check out. In front of us in line was a tall, slender, very regal-looking woman wearing a very long fur coat. Her hair was silver and short and sprayed up in a beehive sort of deal and her face was carefully made-up in several layers of make-up. As the cashier rung up her purchases, this fur-wearing lady extracted a credit cards from her designer wallet and held out her hand to pay for her booty, showing off her long, shiny red fingernails. Suddenly, I felt a tugging on my shirt. I looked down and there was my son, so wide-eyed and amazed, his mouth literally open, staring at her. He said to me in this very loud whisper, “Mama, Mama!” and then he paused and stared and his eyes got wider and he looked mystified and amazed all at once…”It’s Cruella!”. Of course he was referring to that old lady villian in 101 Dalamatians, and to his credit, she kind of did look like Cruella DeVille. I could hardly contain my laughter of joy. I was laughing, not at the woman, but because Jordan had spoken a sentence, albeit short but sweet. He had also made such a strong visual association and had been so expressive about it, which is a huge thing for an autistic child to do. I had been under so much stress worrying about Jordan and his diagnosis and his future, this little event was like God saying to me, don’t worry about Jordan, he’s mine and he’s going to be ok.
My favorite singer is Charles Billingsly. I first heard him at a Celebrators Convention in Branson last year. He sang every song from his CD God of the Ages. I wrote down every word to each song. He wrote alot of them himself. I esp loved You STill Love Me. It started out like and prayer of Gods glory and ended with worship and praise and the Lords prayer. Check it out at Charlesbillingsly.com. He is presently Worship Leader at Thomas Road Baptist Church and travels with Dr. David Jeremiah as his worship leader.
I tell ya what…my favorite thing is sitting at this computer for over 2 1/2 hours and enjoying all my dear “Siestas” favorite thing ever. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve got a list of things to buy and books to read, movies to see and mascara’s to try….and I’ve prayed with ya all too! No wonder our Siesta Momma said “My Favorite Fill in the Blank Ever Post”. To top it off, reading the Cruella D’Ville post by our siesta Catherine and her darling boy Jordan…just amazing, amazing grace! Thank you LORD, for 1000 and more gifts, all in one sitting!
