DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.

It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.

Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.

Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:

But really, enough about us.

I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.

Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

Do I have a faithful fall remnant?

This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).

I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:

The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:

Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.

Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.

Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:

This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).

Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.

Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.

Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?

So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.

We love you so much,

Melissa

Fall has to be my favorite time of the year. I love the colors of the trees here on the PA mountains. The pumpkin lattes & as a knitter & crocheter, it’s the chance to sit and knit for Christmas. Everything just feels cozy in the fall. Rather fleshly reasons I know. But it just feels so good & makes me smile.

I love coffee on the porch when the mornings are cool and leaves are beginning to turn. I also love how my dogs – and my children get hyper with the first cold snap of the season πŸ™‚

I love so many things about fall! Probably my favourite is watching the leaves change, and marveling at this amazing piece of art that God created just for us. Fall clothes aren’t so bad either. Lol.

Thank you for all you do, LPM, for me and my fellow siestas. May God richly bless each one of you.

Since moving from California to Virginia I’ve grown to love fall for the beautiful colors that God places on the trees. Living at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains offers a beautiful rainbow of God’s beauty to go with the crisp clean air. Time for cinnamon scented candles, pumpkin bread and soup and stew, all reminders of God’s glorious gifts to us.

Fall is my favorite time of the year! I love the fall colors, the cool crisp air, pumpkins and football begins again! I love the smells of autumn baking and scents of fall candles. Fall gets me in the mood of thinking of blessings from our Father above. These are some of the reasons I look forward to fall, my favorite time of the year.

    Kim says:

FALL is my favorite season of all time! Driving or riding on the back of my husbands motorcycle to apple hill, taking in all the beautiful fall colors of leaves, crisp air, sipping apple cider and of course eating apple fritters!

    Tami Brock says:

As I get older I find that Fall season gets harder to get through, as I know Winter is ahead and with it comes cold, cold and more cold. BUT, this year fall has been SO very “beauty ful”, with the magnificent vibrant colors that God has blessed us with. Color. That’s my favorite!

  10. 360

Most of our family birthdays are in fall, as well as our anniversary! πŸ™‚ Oh–and my Aunt Sandra’s stuffing on TG. Hee hee!

    denise vick says:

I love fall but it bums me out because I know what’s coming next….winter and I don’t love winter. In fact, am I the only one that’s counting down the days until spring???? 139 to be exact. But I do love the crisp, clean air. And I love being able to work outside without being attacked by mosquitoes!!!!!

  12. 362
    Michele Duffy says:

Love all the fall colors and the coolness of the air-makes taking walks so fun!!! Also it’s me and my husband’s anniversary (26 fall seasons this year -grin!) so it is an especially sweet time of year for me!

  13. 363
    Katie R says:

I am BEYOND pumped about Fall being here. Boots, Scarves, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Sunflowers are a few of my favorites.
This year is extra sentimental to me due to just adopting a baby boy 3 weeks ago. There just isn’t a better time for the Lord to give me such a beautiful gift- to enjoy during this month of thankfulness then celebrate the birth of Christ. So overwhelmed with joy!
He really gives good/perfect gifts to imperfect people- so that HE gets all the glory. Praise the Lord!

  14. 364
    Jennifer Miller says:

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I live in the mountains of East Tennessee and every year they are transformed into a colorful canvas, an amazing display of God’s glory.

  15. 365
    Gail says:

I love long car trips with the family. I love the smell of cold outside and the smell of a soft fire warming the home. I love extra time with family, and I love the flavors of Fall; pumpkin-everything, cranberries, squash of every variety, meals cooked in the oven slowly for hours, instead of out on the grill. Love ALL of it!

  16. 366
    Vicki Jones says:

Oh Fall, my very favorite time of the year! I love cooler weather, High school & college football (BOOMER SOONER!), leaves changing, holidays coming, old recipes revived, so many wonderful fall/holiday memories of grandparents and family members that have passed. Love the reminder that when we see the seasons change, we have continued hope of God’s never changing love, grace, mercy and faithfulness!

I love fall for a lot of reasons, one is that it is finally acceptable for me to play christmas music, two is that colors of the leaves are breathtaking, and three is that its that much closer to when i marry my love in july! πŸ™‚

  23. 373
    Angie Tindal says:

I love Fall because it never fails to bring me back to a place of solitude with God. I get my cozy blanket, my Bible and dive into a Bible Study and prayer. I have no idea why the cool air does this to me every year. It’s like it’s my time of slowing down, taking in a deep breath of fresh cool air, lighting a cinnamon-scented candle, grabbing a fresh hot cup of coffee and just delighting myself in God. I have many other times like this throughout the year…but there is no other “season” that drives me to be “quiet” with God like the Fall does.

  24. 374
    Lisa Bale says:

I LOVE (most) everything about fall! I love the change of season – the crisp, cool air after months of blazing hot 100 degree weather, I love the food – pumpkin anything, the colors of fall & the smells of fall – spiced pumpkin pie candles! My least favorite thing: hunting season =( I miss my man when he’s gone!

  25. 375

I love, love, love fall. Love football games with the family, pumpkin butter, and a hot pumpkin spice latte!

  26. 376
    Susan Carpenter says:

I just finished the Mercy Triumphs Bible Study and one of the strongest messages to me was about family! How can I not use this time to learn to truly love my family, accept them as they are and give with a full heart!
I need to be “full of thanks” as well ” giving of heart” during this fall and Thanksgiving month.
Many thanks for the spiritual leadership and guidance.
    Susan

  27. 377
    Erin says:

Oh Fall! I love the smells. I love the (idea of) leaves that change colors. I love the crisp Autumn days. What is not to love?

    -Erin Woods

  28. 378
    Debi Grenseman says:

I love that it’s the trees turn to be dressed in their finest in shades of gold and scarlet with bits of green mixed in. I love the smell and sound of their fallen leaves on the sidewalk even if our shoes bring them in the house. I just have to press and save a few. I love the cooler air and the morning fog that often blankets our town. I love the hint of Christmas in the stores. But I look forward to first celebrating Thanksgiving with my family with all the trimmings. We’ve a lot to be thankful for. Of course, I love all the pumpkin flavored items, especially pumpkin pies and pumpkin lattes, AND pumpkin crisp. YUM! But, autumn is the season that brings us to Christmas celebrations and SNOW! Beautiful! Such a fleeting time, it’s hard to wait. So, thank You, Lord, for autumn’s glorious golden leaf colored yards, sidewalks, and streets. It hints of heaven.

I just recently put up some fall pics from the last 3 weekends of traveling nearby to see the fall colors in SC,NC,TN, and Virgina. I hope you can view them. https://www.facebook.com/sherry.andrews.96/info#!/media/set/?set=a.4650501097681.183043.1147853387&type=3

Oooooohhhh…Fall is by far my favorite season!! I grew up in the Midwest and absolutely love the leaves changing colors. It doesn’t happen near as brilliantly here in E. TX but we do get some fall colors. I also LOVE being able to leave my window open at night, and snuggle under a warm comforter to sleep. My hubby would rather have the window closed so sometimes we have to take turns.:0)

  38. 388
    Martha in Florida says:

I love Fall, even though I live in Florida now and don’t experience it quite the same! I have lived in Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio, all states that have great fall foliage.

I am reminded of God’s plans when I think about the leaves dying and falling off the trees. It takes a lot longer for trees, but it’s a bit of a picture of Christ dying for us and then returning to life when the trees start to bud again in the spring. It’s also a reminder of believers — we must learn to die to self, but learning to live for God is such a beautiful thing, just like the buds that bloom in the spring!

    Alicia Payne says:

    Rene Sandifer says:

(Wow. What a stunning and generous give away! How fun to have been shopping for it all!)

One my favorite things about Fall is decorating other’s homes for the Holidays … Fall Harvest, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Each home uniquely their personality, but somehow I get the awesome privilege of using God’s creativity to bring beauty to their personal space. I never forget I am invited into a place where their family will be enjoying traditions and making memories. So much JOY for me!

Love to you all at LPM. xo

    Kayla Moore says:

I love the colors of the leaves!

  42. 392
    Rachel Piferi says:

Of course I love how God’s majesty appears in the changing leaves and the colors of fall. But, I also love Fall because I love sweaters and scarves and boots and jeans! I am a clothes-girl and I just love the clothes of fall!!

  44. 394
    Laura Deglau says:

I just love fall. Cooler temps, leaves changing colors, pumpkin, fires. It’s wonderful!

  45. 395
    Karen says:

I love the array of vibrant colors. I love the smell of roasted marshmallows over a campfire, the feel of a brisk fall morning, and the excitement on my children’s faces as they visit pumpkin patches and dress up in their favorite costumes. Fall ushers in special times with family and friends as we give thanks and celebrate our Creator and King. His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!

  46. 396
    Kim Goodfellow says:

I Love the Fall, it’s my favorite time of the year. The weather is “just right” and the colors here in NY are beautiful this time of year, God putting on a display for us here of earth. I love to bake, especially this time of year – baking loafs of apple cider pumpkin bread right now and the house smells yummy!

  47. 397
    Pamela Hatchell says:

Fall seems to come and go so quickly; it’s as if it gets shorted in its time with us. Maybe that makes it all the more spectacular, because it needs to show itself off. It transitions us from hot, active summer into cold, sleepy winter and reminds us that we need a time of rest before we bloom again. God draws us near when we stop. We need to be reminded to slow down, grab a blanket and a Bible, and spend some time with the One who loves us most.

  48. 398
    Rebekah Arnold says:

I love Fall because it is one step closer to Winter and COLD WEATHER!!! πŸ˜€ I also love the changing of leaves, cooler weather, and a reason to sip hot sassafras tea.

  49. 399
    Jamie Morrel says:

Fall is my favorite season. I love the beautiful changes in God’s creations and the crispness in the air. I look at falll as a new beginning. The leaves changing are so beautiful. Thanksgiving is in the fall and I love time reflecting on what I’m thankful for and all that I’ve been blessed with. Pumpking anything is AWESOME!

    Joyce watson says:

Well, I so love that bird pillow and some of the other gifts you are giving away. So happens, that this year at our ladies brunch at church we are using birds as our decor. I love the Bible verse: I will take refuge in the Shadow of Your Wings Psalm 57:1.

About Autumn: It reminds me of God’s love this is how I describe it…

I am like a fallen leaf blown into the wind,
Whirling around with no place to land
Then, God reaches out His hand
    And He catches me,
    But instead of crushing me,
    And throwing me away__
He glues me into His scrapbook
To keep me in His memory.~joyce
