Ladies! I think a Friday afternoon deserves a celebration. We’ve almost made it through the entire work week! Woo hoo! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the cool, crisp air, the scents of cinnamon and other spices and anything PUMPKIN!!!
Lorri Wright
What do I not love about fall? Colors, shadows, wind blowing, crunchy sounds while I walk, my favorite loved ones birthdays, family, friends, bon fires, chili, sweaters, football, Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice, my cute little springer spaniel all curled up in a tight ball, camping, coziness…I could go on all day.
Fall is so beautiful, it is an opportunity to rediscover the landscape that we so many times pass by without notice. I love the color, the cold, the rain, the frost, all of it. There isn’t a day I don’t want to be in it.
My name is Ashley Phelps and I think some of my favorite things about fall are all those sweet “firsts” we get to enjoy once again. I’m thinking about that first slip into your warm boots, that first tasty crock-pot of Mamaw’s chili, the first playtime in the park that is slightly more hurried because we didn’t quite dress warm enough for the brisk breeze, the first of the changing leaves, the first s’mores at the first bonfire, the reckless pooch storming through the first piles of leaves, the first hayride of the season, the first time that fall candle is lit…and I know we all must share many more. I just love all of the new ways our senses are perfectly stimulated this time of year with all of the wonderful smells, sights, tastes, sounds and textures of the “firsts” of fall.
Anne Dalton – – I love the feeling of fall and knowing that family will soon be near. Peace to all!
I love fall – especially that first crisp coolness in the air. It is my favorite time of year – God amazes me every fall with His palette of colors that He paints over His creation! As a family we start to do more together inside, reminding me that it’s the people in my life that matter more than other things. Fall also makes me start thinking about winter, and I can truly say I am so thankful to our Lord for providing a warm home and plenty of food for us to eat – not everyone can say that.
I love getting to pull scarves, sweaters and boots out the closet! Boot lovers in Texas wait patiently for this time of year so they can wear their favorite pair. π
And I love your pup Winston! He is dashing! π
Artelia Gillam
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love watching the leaves change color and the slight change in the air from cool to frigid. I also love snuggling up with my husband and kids under a blanket and watching The Muppets or whatever movie the kids have picked for us to watch again and again for the first time!
I love the beautiful changing colors, food AND fashion. I love the overall sense of peace the season brings.
You just helped me see fall in a much better light. Thanks. May God Bless and Keep You~
Fall is my favorite season !! I love all of the deep colors on the trees, the coolness in the air, the scents of baking filling the house, and the feeling that it’s time to slow down and be still for awhile.
After the hot summers that we experience here in Houston there is nothing more refreshing or “happy” than to walk outside when that first cool front comes through and let than joy fill your bones…I just close my eyes, take a deep breath and smile and thank the Lord for the change of seasons!
I love pumpkin spice lattes, candles, etc!! And I love the cooler breezes that
give me an extra reason to get cozier with my man. π
Joelle Roibal
I live in the beautiful mountains in Georgia. I love fall because of all the beautiful colors of the leaves and the perfect weather. It really makes you appreciate God’s creation!
Courtney Williams
I love the fall because the crisp cool mornings make for a wonderful morning run! The temps are PERFECT!
Amber Cessac
Your dog is stinking ADORABLE.
I love the WEATHER during Fall! So much easier to enjoy Creation when you’re not dripping in sweat and being eaten by mosquitos π
I love Fall for the way God paints brilliant, blazing colors in the trees. I believe it is His bold reminder to us that, even in the dying process, His glory is breathtaking!
Allison Burleson – my favorite time about fall is that it was the time of year that my long-awaited baby boy was born!
I love the cool crisp mornings…so clean and fresh.
I love fall because when it starts getting cooler outside I give myself permission to make soup!! Yum. There is nothing better. Also it means Christmas is right around the corner and I just love shopping and making people happy.
I love everything about Fall! Fall in Iowa is beautiful colors, crunchy leaves, bonfires, raking, crisp air and homemade chili! Every year I marvel at the wonders of the seasons that God gave us and feel blessed by it all!
Thanks for the opportunity! What I love about fall is the bonfires and s’mores!! Always great conversation and a great time had by all!
I love fall!! The colors are gorgeous, the days are still pretty warm & the nights cool. Perfect time to start lighting candles & get ready for winter =) Thanks for the fun giveaway!!
I love the fall in Central Florida because I can finally walk outside and NOT SWEAT! I get into the spirit by cooking a huge pot of my grandmother’s Beef Vegetable “Handful” Soup (a handful of this and a handful of that) and a pan of her sweet cornbread. The aromas take me back to her SE Alabama farm and the warmth of her kitchen and of her love.
I love how you can go outside and just take the deepest breath and it feels like it goes the whole way through you! The humidity is gone and the leaves are beautiful!
I absolutely love the colors of fall here in the Midwest. And I am also a fan of pumpkin spiced lattes!
I love the Fall night sky. I take a walk at 4:00 am and the stars this time of year are breath-taking! I also love the crisp air and the smell of the leaves. It is so refreshing after a long, hot, Summer!
Donna Schoen here from Ventura, CA. I love fall because it reminds me of school days when my daughters were growing up & I’d make them after school warm snacks like cinnamon bran muffins so the house would smell good when they came home. I have an empty nest & miss that so much! I also love getting back to burning candles, mulled cider is one of my favs!
All the gifts are awesome! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for the giveaway. π my favorite thing about fall is the focus on all things family. Warm evenings, warm food, my kids bundled up and everybody snuggling on the couch while its cold outside. All of that combined with the anticipation of Christmas…it’s just wonderful!
Hi,
I love the fall colors, the changing trees and all the fall decorations.
Joani Ross – I love homeschool with the windows open, cool air blowing in, fall candles lit and All Sons and Daughters playihg in the background. I LOVE Fall so much!
Fall is my favorite season, not just because of the pumpkin “anything” that I love, but because it feels like everything is brand new. New air, new attitude, new heart feelings, new expectations. I’m not even going to mention that it just brings us closer to the holidays and the fact that a fire, some coffee and a sweet piece of pumpkin bread just makes every day better.
I love everything about Fall here in Michigan! We are huge outdoors people and Fall is the perfect time to experience all the fall colors (we live in the woods) and we LOVE hot apple cider, bonfires, and pumpkin donuts!! mmmmm….
I forgot my first and last name:
Amy Kuncaitis
π
My name is Dean Jones. One thing I love about fall is decorating my home with fall decor.
Fall – what is there not to love about it?! Well, besides the rain here in the NW. But seriously, I love all the baking, family-loving and festivities going on. And besides, Thanksgiving is right around the corner!
Oh Melissa it is wonderful to see you here. Love your sweet pup. I can so relate.
I love the colors of fall. Here in my corner of the world God seems to even paint the sunrise and sunset in the colors of fall that just make me stand back in awe and breathlessness. I treasure them up in my mind to smile about when the cold winds of winter are howling.
Thank you for this sweet giveaway.
Tammy Schroeder
PS Mama Beth, God has done some serious heart work on me the past few days…I nearly wanted to run…but I am sticking it out. love to you all
Hey LPM girls! My name is Katie Hartshorn and oh, there is so much to love about fall! I love the crisp air, the beautiful changing leaves, wearing my favorite boots, family time, cooking yummy soup and warm desserts, football games and that basketball season is next- because it’s my favorite! π I love the anticipation that I feel in my heart this time of year too..not only for the temperature and leaf changes, but the reminder of God’s promises to me…that He is not changed…and He is already in the next “season” preparing His best blessings for me! Happy Fall and Happy November! <3
Eileen Forrester
I love everything about Fall!! My birthday is in October and I love the cooler weather, wearing boots, and the colors of Fall!
I love fall because I can watch our grandchildren play in the leaves.
Marilyn Sorrells – my favorite thing about fall is the crisp early morning air here in east Texas. It reminds me of the Holy Spirit and how He always blows through my spirit at just the right time! Autumn feels like my King as SM Lockridge said so eloquently in his sermon. π
I love the cool crisp mornings and getting to walk my yorkie, Max, in the afternoon without both of us collapsing from the heat!
Thanks for doing this!
Kathy Wilshire, Mansfield, TX

The best thing about fall? It is that much closer to spring!
The best part about fall for me is my children and I on a sunny day walk around our property and see who can find the crispiest leaf. Then we step on it and see who made the biggest crunch sound!!! Then we go inside and have hot chocolate. It’s such a blast!!
Oh, I love fall! The magnificence of God’s creation in full, living color all around us! I also get to share my fall birthday month with my sister/sister-in-Christ/best friend. God is good!
Fall is my favorite season. Although I am usually ready for the season to change. I enjoy different things w year year that passes. As a young girl I loved knowing it was a time for pumpkin ice cream. As I got older I enjoyed hikes in the Shawnee National Forest w my friends. Now as a wife and mother of 3 boys (4, 6 and 10). I enjoy all the leaves as the crunch under their feet as they run or as they jump in leaf piles. I love their rosy cheeks and noses after they have played outside until the last ray of daylight is gone.
I bask in the beautiful harvest moonlight shining through the glorious colors of maple trees. God’s handiwork, breathtaking.
what I love about fall is sweaters and wearing socks!( it gets to be 110 plus here in Fresno CA. during the summers, so I never see shoes really for 6 months.) cozying up near the fire place to homeschool my kid with a cup of creamy coffee!
I love new beginnings and to me Fall is a brand new season full of new beginnings. Kind of like every day with Jesus.
Speaking of new beginnings…can I get a do-over? I think I put my email in backwards! π
I love the changing colors of the leaves. Many people don’t realize that the color a leaf becomes as it is dying is the true color of the leaf. Also true for us, my son kept his faith through his dying breath which he took as his favorite song came on his ipod. “Oh, How He Loves” by the David Crowder Band was the song. We can be a beautiful display of color by keeping our faith during our struggles in life. Thanking God for 23 years, 8 months and 2 days with Joshua Caleb, my Warrior in a Wheelchair!
I love Fall because it brings cooler weather and that means getting to wear sweatshirts and sweaters!!! It’s the simple things in life that can make me happy, and that is definitely one of them!!!
