DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa
(Lindsee not pictured here ONLY because she was out of the office when we snapped this photo)
I love, love, love the beautiful fall colors on crisp, cool mornings here in upstate SC. On clear mornings you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains on the ride in to my office. God really shows off here!
I LOVE Fall!!!Cool breezes, warm comfort foods, college football (Roll TIde), sweaters and jeans, holidays and reasons to get together with family and friends. I also love the change in colors and the falling leaves BUT with living in Florida I don’t really get to see that.
I love all the beautiful colors of fall God has creatively displayed for His glory and our enjoyment too! I also enjoy all the fun activities we can do as a family. The food isn’t too bad either. π ~ Heather Russell
Boy, do I love me some fall!! My favorite thing about fall is settling in at home, opening my windows wide (letting cool air and sunshine in) and lighting a fall scented candle. Thanks for making this giveaway possible.
Stacy
Fall is glorious here in PA! I love all the gorgeous colors of the leaves on the trees (especially the maples), going apple picking with my husband and kids, and bundling up to sit through a freezing cold football game just to watch the marching band play.
I’m in Canada so if I do win and u can’t send I’m ok with that. I love the smells of fall on the air. Smells of cinnamon. Wood heat. Fallen leaves. Warm hugs. Lots of blankets. Running @ this time of year is the best:) I also look forward to Christmas, which is just around the corner:) God blessings to everyone:) I hope U win:)
Autumn is my favorite season! It is a glorious display of God’s creation in the changing colors. I love the crisp feeling to the air and the promise of the snow to come. Soup and chili on the stove and walks through the falling leaves.
Forgot my last name! Cynthia Barks I guess I wouldn’t win if this were a contest about following instructions!
Karen Reasor here!
What I love most about fall is COOKING – as soon as there is the least bit of chill in the air, I want to make soup! I make my own stock and then turn it into soup, stew, chili….you get the picture. And a red dutch just so happens to be on my Christmas list this year!
Autumn is my favorite-ist time of the year!!
A cracking fire in the fireplace, weekend football games, pretty fall colors everywhere (earth tones are my so warm and scrumptious). Looking outside one a cold late Fall morning and seeing the first snow fall while sipping on hot chocolate. I love seeing the animals all decked out in thier “winter woolies” which happens after a cold snap and you notice the horses look so much fatter! The puppies romping in the freshly fallen snow. The comfort food up north here in the Dakotas you have to live here to appreciate. Hot beef stew, winter squash, fresh warm bread outta the oven, there are church suppers everywhere that bring communities together. Who could forget pumpkin everything!!!
I just got a 3 yr old minischnauzer to replace my beloved Tiffany whom we had to have put to sleep Labor Day weekend. She looks alot like your rotty, Melissa! She is black and full of boundless energy and I wonder why did I get one with so much energy??!!! She is completely lovable even when she is naughty!
I would love any gift especially whenI can share itwith others in one way or another Love you! Betty M
I LOVE how Fall seems to pull a family together…trips to the park, yummy meals shared over the kitchen table, cuddling in front of the fire, carving pumpkins, gathering for Thanksgiving, and so much more. I also love how Fall reminds us of God’s everlasting love…His blessings are immeasurable!
I love fall because it is the best time of year for family pictures. We always find a place with lots of trees and fallen colorful leaves to get a good picture. Since I live in Ohio, that is not too hard! My family also loves when I make pumpkin bread! Still use my 4-H recipe from oh so long ago!
Oh thank you for this opportunity! What an amazing giveaway! I live in CA so fall is not as dramatic as in other places, but I love the cuddled up couch times and general closeness we all have when it’s cooler weather. And I get to wear boots and sweaters! So fun!
I’m a Spring/Summer girl, but I do love cozy sweaters and cute jackets that crisp fall weather allows to be worn.
Yes, your mom is so cute! π
We just love the leaves here in Arkansas! Oh and apple cider! Football! Boots! All of it!
I love fall because of the colors, the smell in the air, thanksgiving with family and another year of thankfulness. When fall begins, life seems to slow down. All the running of summer is done and it’s time to unwind with shorter days, colder nights and the house feeling cozy and inviting from smells of baking and fall scented candles. And here in Pennaylvania, fall means keeping an ever watchful eye for the first snow flakes of the year.
Women’s Bible Study Groups!!!! Also, I love changing colors, settling into a routine after summer camp season, and hanging out with my church family more.
Favorite thing about Fall? The memory of childhood Autumns! My grandpa loading all of us, his grandkids, into the back of the tractor trailer, for a “fall tour” of his property on the reservoir. Trees; all burnt orange, crimson red, and golden yellow. What fun it was.
I love the colors and the foods! Actually… There is not much I DON’T live about fall! π
I LOVE Fall, but live in South Florida, which means we don’t really get a lot of the regular “fall” fun, but it does get a little cooler and a lot less humid…which is yet another fabulous reason to love the fall.
Jill Strother. I love the running in the crisp air and of course football!!
I love the beautiful coloured trees in the valley by our home and the smell of wood burning stoves carried on the crisp air. Walking and talking together as a family as we take pictures of God’s handiwork warms my heart. Apple crisp in the oven, a warm blanket, and a good book round out a beautiful Fall day.
I love the fall season for the beautiful color of the trees and the cool crisp air, pumpkin pie, hayrides. . . . . etc.
I love the slightly cooler weather and the beautiful colors of the leaves.
Colorful leaves
I honestly think I go a little crazy with excitement in the fall. From the crunchy leaves to the smell of cinnamon and apples coming from a home kitchen- nothing beats it! This prize looks so wonderful π
For me, Fall is always a new beginning. I think the teacher’s child in me looks at it as a new school year. It really is my New Year.
I love the first day I get to wear a sweater or a jacket- and if I throw on a scarf- Hold the front door!! Fall colors both in nature and wardrobe are my favorite colors. The first pot of tortilla soup I make is always the best. The first fire in the fire place is always special, especially with a cup of apple cider. The transition of our garden from caladiums and impatiens to pansies and kale always makes me happy. I could wax on and on and on. Fall is the best.
I love the fall colors, going to football games with my husband, and family gathering at Thanksgiving.
I love the blue of the sky! It is sapphire at times. I don’t know why it is only this deep in the Fall, but it captivates me year after year.
I just had a sweet baby girl on October 11! She is my favorite thing about fall! π
Fall is my favorite season too! We just finished a trip to NYC/Boston (a week ahead of Storm Sandy) and the colors were magnificent and the food….well, so much for Weight Watchers that week…lol I love to cook, enjoy family and friends, and celebrate all the smells and sights of Fall.
Reading the tweets of southern siestas always blesses my heart when they talk of fall and cooler weather and their deep gratefulness. There is so much I like about fall; bright yellow and red maple leafs, visiting the pumpkin patch with the girls, pumpkin & cinnamon smelling candles, but I have to admit my gratefulness pales in comparision. Our rainy season is upon us and I become very grateful for the occasional glimpse of the sun, just as you revel in cooler weather! π
Thanks for the sweet thoughts towards us and this fun giveaway!!
MK Nakano
ps – love the window frames on your staircase, Melissa.
O my gosh Melissa!!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Fall! The crisp air, the smell of burning leaves, the colors…..
It has always been my favorite season. You are awesome Siesta to offer this give-away. Love you and all my siestas! Happy Fall!
I love the fall. The brisk mornings are great for a 5K run and the warm afternoons are great for spending outside time with my grandchildren. Love the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, homemade soup, chili and all kids of pumpkin bread and desserts, and watching football with family. Fall is one of God’s beautiful and glorious seasons.
My name is Shelly McCormick,
I love the smell in the air in Fall, which comes before all of the amazing colours. And of course, Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte π
I love fall because it always brings our family together. From Thanksgiving to football, we can always find a reason to celebrate.
Fall is the greatest time of the year! First because I live in Texas, we start getting a little relief from the hot summers. But most of all we get to watch as God takes His paint brush and using the most vibrant colors from His pallet changes nature to some of the most extraordinary scenes. I also know that is the jumping off point for the holidays. To first be oh so thankful at Thankgiving including eating all things pumpkin. Last but certainly not least, the celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ coming to our “rescue”. How blessed we are!
Pumpkin anything…and Spiced Tea!Football and a fire in the fireplace!
My favorite thing about fall are all the gorgeous leaves that cascade the ground! I live in Michigan and (in my humble opinion) we have the best fall! Beautiful and crisp weather, with a million colors. The only thing missing is a pumpkin spice latte!
Fall, all the colors. The change in the temps always welcome after the intensity of summer in East Texas. Fall, when the old begins to die off and the things that will be lying dormant waiting for spring π
Fall is my absolute most favorite time of the year. There is no where i’d rather be than in God’s Country, the mountains of NC. Nothing can beat the nice crisp air, beautiful blue skies, the mountains and the vibrant color of the leaves on display. Truly one of God’s greatest masterpieces!
I love feeling like it’s time to go back to school again! Even though it’s not, I try to channel that energy into work, ministry, projects around the house, and life in general.
I love fall football games, crisp cool air (rare in south florida, but we had it this past weekend!) Coffee on the porch in the cool mornings and all the yummy fall food…pumpkin pie, soups and chili. I love all the fall fashions too.
I hope I win one of those fabulous prizes.
Blessings today,
Nancy
My name is Nicole Burdess and I LOVE fall because mostly the nostalgia that comes with it. Holidays, family and friends. The beautiful changing colors here in the Midwest and the smell of wood burning fireplaces. The ability to wear boots every day and even sweaters. I love the food mostly and fellowshipping with my family every chance I get. I’m a nut for Fall, always have and hopefully always will be. It makes me giddy like a child…and I love the innocence of being carefree and happy!!
My name is Jenny Hamm. One of my favorite things about Fall is yummy, hot apple cider. And of course, watching all the leaves on the trees change to stunning red, orange and yellow in color.
I remember, when I was a little girl in Girl Scouts, we use to go on hay rides in the Fall. I would love to enjoy a long hay ride with my loved ones, through a beautiful area with lots of trees, drinking spiced apple cider!
I love and appreciate that we have four seasons throughout the year, however fall by far is my favorite. With fall all of our seneses come to life, ecspecially if we have had a long hot summer. The beautiful colors, the crisp cool air, the flavorful smells and taste of the season, the crunch of the fallen autumn leaves, the harvest moon. I could keep going but I think you have the picture……fall is a beautiful blessing from GOD.
I LOVE being able to run outside without sweating my eyeballs out! Hot summer weather is heavenly but thank God for cool, crisp fall days!
Marissa Burt in Seattle, WA here. I love EVERYTHING about fall! It is my absolutely favorite season: pumpkin flavored treats, hot chocolate, smoky autumn fires, drizzly grey rain and bright colored leaves. Not to mention the season in which I was married and some years later when our firstborn arrived. Such a season full of Good Things.
What a fabulous giveaway y’all have going! Happy Autumn!
Dallas Zimbelman – fall is my absolute favorite season. I love watching our dog Ruger chase the leaves as they fall from the trees. I love digging out those old sweaters as the weather starts to change and I love beginning to plan those holidays with loved ones.
I am an October baby, but the Autumn is a special season and in my heart for so many wonderful reasons. From the physical beauty of the changing colors of the fall foilage and landscapes, to the bounty we reap from the harvest. To the scents of the spiced candles and yummy cooking, to the fresh rain and cooler temps. This time of year hugs my soul and has always inspired my most intense writings and pauses to just breath in His Goodness. All of creation cries out His Glory! It is a great reminder of my greatest hope in the Lord – that He is changing me and all by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Through great affliction and trials He changes me in ways I cannot. In ways I don’t even see or realise! What a joy to let our hearts sing Amazing Grace daily! This has been the most painful and devastating season in my life – But what God we have Sisters. I am so thankful to be able to celebrate another year of His faithfulness in my life and the lives of my children. As much as I can take it all in here, His Spirit reminds me we are not earthbound and sharpens my focus for what glory is yet to come! It makes me sing, “King of Heaven come down… King of Heaven come now… Let Your glory reign like the light of day, King of Heaven come now!”
SING praises to the King Sisters!
Kindest Regards!
I love the changing of the leaves up here in New England, even though it makes my allergies go crazy. I also love getting to wear sweaters, my down vest, and my fuzzy boots!
