Greeting From Beth, October 11,2010 from LPV on Vimeo.
My Dearly Loved Siestas, please watch the video greeting when you get a chance so that I can fill you in on what to expect for the next 2 months. This written post does not take the place of the video so please be sure to watch it. This is only to reiterate what I shared with you in the video about what to expect on here while I’m away. You will still find…
*Siesta Scholarship Giveaway Tickets to events that fall within this time period.
*Living Proof Live Recaps of the events that fall within this time period. (And, yes, I will read the comments to those events just like I normally would. I will just discipline myself not to write back.)
*A possible entry here or there on special occasions or when I’m bursting to tell you something that won’t really translate into the James study.
*”Talk To Me Tuesdays” – Every Tuesday I’ll put up a post where you do all the talking. (It will begin next week.) Tell me in a concise paragraph how you are, or what God is doing, or something funny that’s happened, or what you’re learning. Although I will hold myself back from responding to them, I will be anxiously and joyfully reading as many of them as possible. In this way, I get to continue to be inspired by your journeys with God and, when I’m tempted to respond, will, instead, put that energy into writing the Bible study. This format will also help you stay in touch with one another and allow you to directly respond to each other.
We will be very busy in 2011 here in Siestaville with the return of the Siesta Scripture Memory Team! I better take this chance NOW!
I could almost cry telling you how much you mean to me and how I will miss you. STAY IN THE WORD! Pray for your Siesta Mama. And I will pray for you. We’ll all be back together before you know it.
I love you. Really.
PS. Because Twitter doesn’t really consume creative energy (grin), I will probably try to keep up with that unless it gets distracting. So far it hasn’t been. It’s fun but I don’t have the attachment to it that I have here. If you want to join us there, it’s (this is so embarrassing) @bethmooreLPM. I feel like an idiot.
We will miss all of you, but completely understand your heart on this, and want you to do what the Lord has directed. It actually sort of reminds me of when the Lord called Moses onto the mountain for 40 days & nights……and also of when Jesus went into seclusion to face temptation. When God calls, it’s time to GO!!! We will still be here when you return, and praying for you while you’re gone. Can’t wait to do the James study! Love you guys
Agreed and amen.
Blessings,
Kim
You go girls! In the power and strength of the Holy Ghost, live in the sacrifice of praise.
We will wait on the Lord with you for the study in James AND we will miss you.
Till December!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful message with us. We look forward to the James Study upon completion. Love and prayers to the Moore family and this ministry.
My prayers will be with you and Melissa both. I will miss hearing all your musings for a couple of months, but THANK YOU for listening to God so that we can hear God from you and have growth and change in our lives. I don’t know where my life would be right now if God hadn’t directed me to your Bible study on Paul at a friend’s church. It began what is a LONG road of healing, but healing I am!!! I am truly glad you are wise enough to give this your full focus so WE can receive the full benefit. Take Care of Yourself and make sure Melissa does too. Two months will be over in “a flash!”
Blessings,
Amanda

Amanda, my thoughts experience with Beth, exactly. Through Beth, He is healing and blessing so many. No wonder she is so dear to all of us.
Your Siesta,
Fran
I’ll miss you girls, however, I totally GET IT! I’m sure that your focus on the James study will reap many for the Kingdom. Don’t worry, we’ll be here when you get back.
Beth,
Thank you for taking time to make the sweet video and post. I can’t even imagine how you fit all you fit into your days.
You’re doing the right thing, girl. I know God’s already told you that and you sure don’t need to hear it from this child who is wrestling with a very crummy prayer life right now, but there you go.
Love you lots and look forward to the “birth” of James!
WendyB
PS – Was searching through the blog archives last week because I thought I had remembered one of you sharing your fam recipe for spaghetti and meatballs….never did find it but I came across your comment regarding the location of your oven mitt (in the garage on the bike seat) and I have laughed out loud in two inappropriate public places recalling that in the past few days. And I’m craving King Ranch Chicken.
Sweet Beth,
I will be praying for you and Melissa as you write the study on The Book and Life of James. Thank you for your ministry to all of us in study and on the blog. We anticipate your return with great joy and pray that in this “siesta” that He speaks to you as never before. Laying aside one thing you love to focus on another for a season seems to be my theme also so my heart is resonating with yours. Be blessed my sister.
Beth, I am continually in awe of you, a teacher who cares, communicates and carefully sets boundaries to know what is best, though difficult, when doing hard tasks. I’ve always been blown away that you even given time & attention to us in this way. You model some pretty healthy areas for us; setting boundaries, being transparent, connecting with others, and certainly a desire to know the Lord through His Word. Thank you for “doing your thing” so we can later “do your thing”…will be praying for you and Melissa and Amanda. take care…blessings, Pam in San Diego
My dear friend and I just started Esther together. We’ve only watched the introduction so far, but we kept looking at one another and gasping. “This is for us!” “Is she talking to us, or what?!” So I have a feeling I’ll be learning from you, even when you’re off the blog. Thank you for speaking God’s words–audibly, on the page, or on the blog. We know Him better because of you!
Dear Beth,
Your video made me cry today. I am very sensitive lately and I really needed to feel loved today and God knew I should watch your video! LOL I just love how God discretly uses the Body of Christ fill voids that are too hard to share out loud. I love that you love me like I love you…I know you are sincere in what you say…
I will be in the trenches praying for you and Melissa as you fullfill your calling and carry on with this study of Jame and I look forward to getting my hands on it as soon as it’s off the presses! You are often like a soothing balm in lifes hardships with your tender words… Thank you for all you do for Him and for me as a thankful receipient of your hard work. I love doing your studies!! Your sister in the Lord, Gina Kelley
Hi Beth,
I’ve just started listening to your So Long Insecurity series online. I’m only on Part 1 but i am so amazed that i am not the only person so insecure that I work hard at trying to get a compliment from my husband which he does often. Hwever sometimes it does not satisfy because its not the one i’m looking for…a bit silly i know. This has been a real struggle for me and has gotten progressivly worse as i’ve gotten older. Even in the first part of the study you have given me tools to begin to deal with my insecurities. So I just wanted to say thanks so much for doing this series! I am looking for great changes in my life and in my family as a result of this study.
I am with you! Good for you for taking the time to do your best for the audience of One! You are daily added to my prayer list.
God bless and inspire you.
Margaret
Hi Beth, I guess I’m a little late sharing my good wishes. I totally understand your decision, while our group waits for your wonderful study of James, we’ll be doing another of your studies so we’ll “see you” every week and will remember to pray that the Lord will tell you what to write as you work. Much Love!!
I respect you so much for stepping away for a time. As a pastor’s wife, I can so relate. Love you and please know that I will be praying for you and your family.
Thanks 4 the B-A-L-A-N-C-E! ๐
Hi beth

Blessings to you both as you enter this season! May you be richly infused with his creativity and insight as you write. I am so looking forward to your return (already), to the scripture memory year that awaits, and for the publishing of your bible study on James!
Sounds good! Just found your blog even though I’ve been enjoying your studies for years. Actually just heard you talk on Revelation 7 this morning, and was really blessed by it. I hope the blog fast proves fruitful. I will pray to that end! I know you probably can’t answer this ;), but maybe someone else will. Where did the “Siesta” thing come from?
Beth, you are precious, and I love you and my 86yr mom loves you too. Doing “A Womans Heart” now with a 84yr mentor from my church….only 6 in this group and I sit and cry during the video…how does that happen? hehe I told them one time if she (YOU) gets any cuter I’m gona scream, (that means we love your clothes), and even the colours you wear.
just sayin….
You will be missed, but I am so very excited your next study is on James!! Woot Woot!! Praying for you and Melissa as you team up to write this amazing study.
Much Love!
Karen Hammons
thanks so much for being real.
i understand the sacrifice – i too have had to wean myself from cyberspace at times and take it inward.and i understand so much the struggle to Not reply when I really really want to.that seems a lifetime ago now.thank you for giving me a forum that flowers hope rather than the forums i ust to get lost in.It would be a disaster to kill the forum for 2months-cause the momentum would waste away and we siestas may forget to take it easy and let god happen to our days.i have never enjoyed a blog community so much as this one, and just Feel The Love, Do U Feel it?!, i do.and i dont even Know who is loveing me today, but on here, there’s love to feel, and when someone says “im sensitive, been crying”- hey, it’s okay, I’ve been crying too.but i’m not crying right now, i might later,it’s okay though, it means I’m not frozen anymore and i can still accept my own tears, and yours too.I totally Love the “talk to me tuesday” idea- way to go!, I Love ya beth- thanks so much for this open hearted video to show you really do care so much. Paint god’s words on the canvas of your heart and I will pray for the writer in you to emerge and come forth with what your heart feels as you just let it come in whatever form it wants to.
Pat w I am loving you today
Beth – you are such a blessing! It is NEVER the ministry’s only job to make us feel like we are so important, but I have to say, your genuine love and friendship with us, with me, brings tears to my eyes. You encompass the detailed focus of one-on-one relationships in Jesus’ name while enveloping a growing ministry to the Glory of GOD! Only HE does it thru you, I am just so thankful you are willing.
BTW – I love that top on you. you wore it LIVE in Denver and with your blond hair, you look amazing! (You had amazing hair in denver) Best I’ve seen!
This blog has been a gift. And I feel like now, even thought I will want to share, I feel like GOD wants me to take what I’ve learned, the encouragement I’ve expereinced and walk it out to the people around me. Maybe the focus you need is the time GOD will focus me as well.
You are so dear to my mom and I – You’re family!
PS: See Secretariat – I just know your heart will respond
PPS: Shawn McDonalds Captivating is a great joyful song
Love Siesta OC
beth, you are so faithful! i understand what a sacrifice this will be for you. but i can’t wait to see what God will do with the study of James!
God bless you.
Hey Ya’ll,
I’ve already posted on this post, but I’ve got some news and I’m needing some prayer. About a month ago, I told you ladies about my closest girlfriend and her requesting a seperation from her husband of almost 20 years. This is her choice, not his. I was (still am) just devastated for her and her family. As I was rummaging through some old bookcases to clear some things out, I found your “Feathers From my Nest”, Beth. I’d read it years ago and can I just say it’s been one of my favs of yours!?! I LOVE my family and one of my greatest joys is seeing others who love theirs, too. Anyway, I’m passing that book onto my girl in deep prayer and hope that she will reconsider divorcing her husband. I know that book can’t “fix” it, only our great Carpenter can do that…but, I’m so believing that her heart will be as moved as mine was the first (and second!!) time that I read it and that from that softening she’ll look to Christ and see that He can, and so joyfully WILL, come and bind up her broken heart and release her from captivity!
Please, please be praying with me siestas that she will allow God to reconstuct what Satan has stolen in her marriage and heart!!!
Thanks, ladies!
My prayers will be with you and your friend. Love and hugs from one siesta to another!
Kristi, I’m praying for your friend, her marriage and for you as you continue to minister to her. She’s blessed to have your unconditional love, support and loyalty.
praying for your friend and her marriage. hugs your sister in the Lord Erin
I will be praying for your friend, her family and for you. Whatever she may be chasing or whatever she may be driven toward finding, I pray it brings her full circle and back to God and her family, in the name of Jesus.
Hugs in Him,
Kim
Praying with you. It is a great book.
Beth~ Thank you for loving and serving the LORD with all your heart and soul, and for being faithful to do what ya gotta do to make this study of James in line with God’s desire for it. Your focus as a teacher and service to our God produces much fruit; it helps us all draw closer in our relationships to the Lord and to each other as sisters in Christ. Thank you! Thank you!
You all at LPM are in my continued prayers! Can’t wait for the James study next year and our next SSMTC!!!
Love you, Siesta Mama!

What a beautiful example of obedience… thank you Siesta Mama!! Please know that we will be interceding for you, Melissa and the LPM family as you proceed on this journey. I look forward to the James study and all that God will do through this dedicated time with Him. I always look forward to your “tweets” so I guess I will follow closer now!! ๐ May the Lord give you new direction, discernment and revelation as you commit yourself to this work and may He continually pour out His Spirit on you as you pour out to us! God Bless you sister!
Oh, Beth! We will miss you, but I am so anxious to see the words God pens through you in the new James study! I will be praying for both you and Melissa as your pour your hearts into this. Much love to you both!
I’m praying for you, Siesta Mama (and Melissa!). I so look forward to hearing your insights into one of my most favorite books of the Bible!
I’m also going to try to pull back from the time I’ve been spending in the blog world during this time as I prepare for my sweet baby girl who is due January 4… I’ve procrastinated long enough- I’ve GOT to get the nursery ready!
I’m using this post to test whether my gravatar pic is going to show up.

Dear Sweet Beth, You are such a good Momma!! I thought something must be up! I’m glad you had a minute to share it! ๐ I have read 3 of your books (BF, Get out of that Pit, & SLI) but never done one of your Bible Studies until a month ago, when I started 2 of them. I signed up for the online, “Living Beyond Yourself” and then found a local church group doing, “The Beloved Disciple”. I am continually amazed at how God uses your way of expressing yourself to get right thru to my heart & mind!!! I will be praying for you all during this time of intense communication, learning and writing. And I look forward to doing the study when it comes out!! I am so blessed by your testimonies!!!
much love, Barb
Oh – I don’t know why you feel like an idiot?! I am sure that isn’t of God! ๐ None of us think you are one!!!!
Beth,
I read the blog regularly but this is my first comment. I am so thankful for your willingness to be obedient and do what God calls you to do even when it’s a sacrifice. You are such an inspiration to me – I cannot wait to meet you one day in heaven and tell you just how you have led me to grow in Christ. I will be praying as you write the James study – and anxiously awaiting it! You are precious.
I bless you, Beth, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Thank you so much for listening to God’s voice and direction, Beth! We’ll miss your blog posts but totally understand! Here’s my first of many “James” prayers for you and Melissa,
Dear Jesus, Help us siestas to consider it pure JOY, when we face the trial of missing our Siesta Mama’s bloggings, because we know that the testing of our faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that we may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Praise You, Jesus, for not leaving us stuck where we currently are, but for desiring our growth and maturity. And thank you for planting that same desire in Your sweet servants, Beth and Melissa. We love You, Lord. In Your precious name… Amen
I am on my way to work and then off to the airport to fly to DFW so I can go see you in Euless!!! I am sooooooo excited!!!!!
I FEEL LIKE A KID ON CHRISTMAS MORNING!!!
I have been awake since 4:25 am praying and praising!!!!!
Praying for travel mercies for all who will attend the taping;praying for a very fresh and powerful anointing to fall all over you; praying that you would be invisible from the evil one; praying for the WORD of GOD to speak so loudly and clearly to each of us so He can pour into us exactly what we need but on a very individual basis; and also praying for the SWEET FELLOWSHIP that is about to take place.
LOVE YOU AND CAN’T WAIT TO WAVE AT YOU ACROSS THE STUDIO!!! ๐
BLESSINGS ALL OVER YOU!!!!
Love you Beth. We look forward to the new study. Work away!
The book of James is concentrated nuggets from God. No wonder you need to take off for two months! This is my first time to your blog because I just finished reading “So Long, Insecurity”. When I received your book at my birthday party last month, other family members laughed, quipping “Jane, is SO not insecure!” But as you so wisely stated at the beginning, any secure woman must realize that she didn’t get there by herself. Reading your book leaves me praising God for leading me step by step from being a frightened middle school child who wouldn’t even speak to other students to becoming a 56-year-old woman full of bubbling joy that lives in a state of NO FEAR!! Thanks for letting everyone know that state of mind is available for all women through the mercies of God! Your directions to that place were Garmin-perfect!
Please do not worry. Your siestas will be here when you can.
New to reading your your blog… Where does one send paragraphs for the Talk to me Tuesdays?
Caite
Hi Caite,
You may respond to the Tuesday ‘post’ in a comment. Just like you did here today. See you on Tuesday!
Hi Beth. I have a typical girl question. Where do you get the thin longsleeve solid mock neck/turtle neck tops you wear when layering? I found some really comfortable ones at JCrew Outlet. Would you mind letting me know via my email address above. Thanks from one girl to another. :o) Kristi
Glad to hear all is well!! I think we were all getting worried something was up ๐ Praying that the LORD will give you wisdom and insight this morning. Your time away will be so worth it!! Enjoy your time with the Lord and with each other. We look forward to ALL He is going to do through this study!
Love you back Miss Beth and Miss Melissa and everyone else at LPM. Keep on keeping on and I will make an effort to keep you in my prayers for the Holy Spirit to work mightly through you both as you write your Bible study on the book of James. XOXOXOXO ๐
So I’m new to this siesta thing. I came home from the LPLive in Lowell, Mass. hungry to connect and grow deeper in the treasures of God’s Word. As I read the posts, I am so blessed by the community here. And EXTREMELY excited to hear that Beth and Melissa are honkerin’ down to bring us a fresh look at James. Can’t wait! Looking forward to Tuesdays too.
I found this quote today and wanted to share it with all of you:
“By reading the scriptures I am so renewed that all nature seems renewed around me and with me. The sky seems to be a pure, a cooler blue, the trees a deeper green. The whole world is charged with the glory of God and I feel fire and music under my feet.”
Thomas Merton
Doesn’t that just want to make you dance?? ๐
Blessings to all!
Hi Beth, from a Siesta Sister,, I think we are the same age! You and Melissa are in my prayers as you begin to write the study. What a great example you are to all of us. I just listened to a teaching you did where you talked about going a mile deep and an inch wide rather that being spread out all over the place. Getting Focus. You practice what you teach with so much integrity, thank you God you are faithful! Love you Erin
Praying for you Beth and Melissa as you do the Lord’s work. You are all so special to me. Ready, set, go!
Its been a blessing for me to hear this. Just yesterday, I stepped down from my position on our church’s women’s ministry board. I LOVED my time serving there and will miss it like crazy, but I believe God is calling me to shift some of my creative energy and time to my husband and young children for a season. Our women’s director has been very supportive, but it has still been helpful to see someone I respect so much doing a similar thing. Many blessings as you take this time to devote to writing.
What a wealth of Bible study material you have! I am just making my aquaintance of yours. I could not figure out several months ago what the fuss over Beth Moore was. Well, it is NOT you it is what is God is accomplishing through you. You have ignited a new passion within me to studying The Word. I just ordered a whole new bunch of material to study. I am interested in your Inheritance study. I lost my earthly inheritance to betrayal of a father and sister whom I thought loved me. I am really mostly looking forward to my Heavenly inheritance anyway! I have read this in your Daniel study we are doing and tonite in a little sound bite from the Inheritance study about how God chose us and I have said YES!!!! So often we say, well, I found God when in all reality it was not anything we did. God sought us and found us, we did nothing. Can anyone of us say we came to Christ on our own??? A resounding NO to that!!!! God has sought us before we were ever born. Doesn’t that sound special and loved??? YES to God and YES to you. HUGS from the HEARTLAND! Betty Marschner
Thank you for your obedience to Our Lord Beth and Melissa. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to seeing you in Spokane ๐
Beth,
You go Girl!!! You are so sweet to open up your heart and your life to us through this blog, what a blessing. But where would we be without your gift of writing bible studies!! You have fanned the flame in so many women’s hearts by drawing us into God’s Word and His love. I can’t wait to see what God will have you do with the book of James! Praying for you and your whole team!
God bless you abundantly!
Jenifer
I will be praying for you as you dive deep and put pen to paper. I know that we will all be benefiting later for your sacrifice now. You can’t know how much you have meant to me. I have learned so much from your books, Bible studies and just by watching your life and reading about it on this blog. I feel honored and priviledged to have you as a sister in Christ. Be blessed Beth, Melissa and Amanda.
