James Calling: For Just A Little While!

Greeting From Beth, October 11,2010 from LPV on Vimeo.

My Dearly Loved Siestas, please watch the video greeting when you get a chance so that I can fill you in on what to expect for the next 2 months. This written post does not take the place of the video so please be sure to watch it. This is only to reiterate what I shared with you in the video about what to expect on here while I’m away. You will still find…

*Siesta Scholarship Giveaway Tickets to events that fall within this time period.

*Living Proof Live Recaps of the events that fall within this time period. (And, yes, I will read the comments to those events just like I normally would. I will just discipline myself not to write back.)

*A possible entry here or there on special occasions or when I’m bursting to tell you something that won’t really translate into the James study.

*”Talk To Me Tuesdays” – Every Tuesday I’ll put up a post where you do all the talking. (It will begin next week.) Tell me in a concise paragraph how you are, or what God is doing, or something funny that’s happened, or what you’re learning. Although I will hold myself back from responding to them, I will be anxiously and joyfully reading as many of them as possible. In this way, I get to continue to be inspired by your journeys with God and, when I’m tempted to respond, will, instead, put that energy into writing the Bible study. This format will also help you stay in touch with one another and allow you to directly respond to each other.

We will be very busy in 2011 here in Siestaville with the return of the Siesta Scripture Memory Team! I better take this chance NOW!

I could almost cry telling you how much you mean to me and how I will miss you. STAY IN THE WORD! Pray for your Siesta Mama. And I will pray for you. We’ll all be back together before you know it.

I love you. Really.

PS. Because Twitter doesn’t really consume creative energy (grin), I will probably try to keep up with that unless it gets distracting. So far it hasn’t been. It’s fun but I don’t have the attachment to it that I have here. If you want to join us there, it’s (this is so embarrassing) @bethmooreLPM. I feel like an idiot.

    Beth,

Oh we will miss YOU, MELLISA and AMANDA. But, as I told one of my girl friends: today I am pretty darn healthy and not too needy. =) Praise God. That has not always been my case.

I can remember you telling something Keith told Amanda and Melissa: learning to say good-bye is an important life skill. Whew, that went deep with me. (Thank you Keith for sharing some wisdom with me too)

I am so excited to hear how God blesses your socks off! He is Huge and able to do MORE!! And, I believe He is going to bless me too as I seek Him and pray for the Holy Wisdom of James to drop right in two beautiful lover’s of Christ renewed minds.

Now is the time to focus and do the thang. =)

Love you and am praying for a season of perfect timing.

Oh, good. I was worried that somebody might be in the hospital again or something after not hearing from you for a week or so. I’m glad that is not the case and that everyone is healthy and everything. I just joined Twitter. I’ve resisted for quite a while, thinking how far can I go with this techology thing with what little time I have already? I have a facebook account, a blog, and two email accounts, as well as all of the blogs that I already follow. It was this blog that got me started on the blogging thing, just so you know. Twitter definitely doesn’t look like that kind of thing that will take up too much of my time, though, like facebook does. I’m actually tempted to drop facebook in favor of Twitter. That’s something I’ll have to pray about. I just love my farm so much and of course all my friends on facebook. I had no idea I had so many people that I know! And yes, I’ve met every one of them face to face at some point in my life! I just didn’t realize how many people I know. Some of them I just know their faces from church or whatever, but I have met them face-to-face at some point! Anyway, this is getting long. You should see me trying to put a short enough update on Twitter and make any sense. It’s insane. If they even call it an update on Twitter. I’m too used to facebook.

May God truly bless you (and Melissa)as you begin the writing of James study. It amazes me that two months “away” is all you need. I enjoy reading your blog and will miss it but take all the time you need. I’ll be praying with all the other siestas that your creative juices will flow freely and that the Holy Spirit will inspire your writings.

My own little flock doing the Bible study “A Woman’s Heart” is going great. We are so Very, Very Blessed to have a Godly committed Bible study teacher like you.

    Linda says:

We’re going to miss your smiling face and words, but so glad you are doing what the Lord is leading you to do.

Do you have an IV drip of Starbuck’s ready to go? You might need that!

Ok, I’m starting “Talk to me Tuesday” right now by telling you I learned a new phrase today from the college girl I am mentoring. She is leading a Bible study and she needs to confront one of the participants about a problem and she asked if I would pray because she’s afraid she’ll “word vomit” all over this girl! I’d never heard of such a thing, but she explained that she wants to talk slowly and sweetly with this girl, but is afraid she’ll “throw up” the words and mess the whole thing up! Is that funny or is it just me?

We pray for you every Tuesday morning and we’ll add the James study to the list. We know this will be an incredible memory maker with Melissa (and Amanda)(and Keith). May the Lord buoy you up each day!

It’s Tuesday! Not the correct one, but I can’t help myself. I am so So SO excited for the new James Bible study you and Melissa are working on! I wanted to throw out another thing that I have always wished you would do a Bible study about…

You have spoken at length about your mentors in the faith and the many beloved people that have graced your faith walk. I would dearly love to learn more about your personal Bible study habits and techniques. Maybe something about your research strategies. Kay Arthur is strong in this area, but I find it harder to connect with her teaching. Just something to think about. Thank you for working so hard to help me find my way. Much love!

    Beth,

Wow, do you do anything without honor and integrity? I know the answer… tee hee… Seriously though, you are so purposeful about making sure the people you serve are highly esteemed.

Be blessed Beth and Melissa. May the Holy Spirit bring fresh revelation as you write. May He have your brain, your heart, your constant attentions. May God’s glory be all over the pages of the book and this experience in your relationship!

Praying protection over your households as you step out and obey. Thank you Lord that Beth and Melissa have your attention as you sweep this Earth searching for hearts beating for you!

    Dearest Siesta Mama,
Thank you for coming and talking to us – I was starting to get worried as we hadn’t heard from you. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the hundreds of responses and thought it won’t matter if I respond – I’m just one of the masses..But as I watched this video and I looked into your eyes I couldn’t help but think Wow, she really does love us..she really does want to hear from us..I was so touched, so overwhelmed..I would be so honored to pray for you over the next 2 months. I am commiting to pray for you every day right here, right now as you journey
thru the book of James. Love ya, Marylee

Dear Beth, It’s been a long while since I’ve been able to comment. Work and school and family. I so appreciate your tender heart toward the blog community and sharing in video what will be going on with you, Amanda and Melissa. It is so important to do ALL that God is calling you and your daughters to do right now. I can’t wait to reap the harvest from this study. We are studying James in our Sunday morning sermons and it just gets you right where you live. I will get spiral note cards ready for the next scripture memory challenge(I got a great opportunity today to rehearse memorized scriptures while I had a MRI done, made it go easier:) Also I’ve been listening to the on-line book So Long Insecurity while doing house chores. I laugh and cry with you and just want to give you a hug!!! What a great help and challenge it has been. I will continue, as I have been, to keep you all in my personal prayers for God’s wisdom, guidance and insight. Thank you all for loving us! We love you all! In Jesus’ Love, Kathy Knoblock
(P.S. to the Siesta who lost her dog, we are pet people and I will be praying for God’s loving comfort over your family.)

    Margie by the Sea says:

    Dear Beth
We’ll miss you, as we have for the last week. I was getting a little concerned with the silence, but what a relief to know that all is OK with the Moores.
What a blessing to have Melissa at your side as you take time away from all the distractions to focus on God’s Word as given to James. Treasure that time spent alone with the Word and following the leading of the Holy Spirit and don’t worry about us.
We are grateful you have been called to explain things to us that we would probably never discern on our own. No blog? It’s a small price to pay and the least we can give back to you for all you’ve done for so many of us.
My prayers are going up for wisdom and discernment for you both.
    Margie

  19. 319

God bless you, Beth and Melissa, as you hunker down and focus on hearing from Him and putting pen to page. May the enemy be thwarted in any design or plan against you in Jesus’ name. May the Truth of God and His Word flow through you onto the page. We wait with great anticipation for this new study to be completed. I can’t wait to see what God has to say through you. Happy writing!

    twinkle says:

    Beth,
I always shake my head in wonder at how you do all the things you do! I will be praying you through these times. And, seriously, I think we got a small taste of what you and Melissa go through when Melissa posted the post about “born again” as compared to “from above.” My head hurt trying to crack that code!

So, I know that you have tons of words to crack open and bring to us in the way that honors God’s Holy Word and speaks to all of our needs…even the needs we haven’t made it to yet.

That’s what I love about God’s Word being Alive and Active. It meets me where I am now and where I’ll be next week…and on into the coming years. And your studies do the same to minister to me every day.

Now my head’s starting to hurt trying to explain how important what God is doing through all of you is right now.

Maybe you could get Keith to post? πŸ™‚

Amanda, you KNOW we all understand your decision to put your family first right now. I think I love you even more because of the decision you made with your tender heart. We love you to pieces, baby girl. Remember that.

God in heaven, how blessed we are to have this community of blogfaith! Help us to always graciously support Your direction here. Abound in this community and in this ministry that loves You more than life. Impart wisdom to Beth and Melissa and make their minds sharp and their fingers fast as they process Your intent and put it to paper or keyboard. Thank You for the book of James. Let it come to life in all our lives. In Jesus Name. Amen.

    Beth:

Great idea! It’s Tuesday today and I’m so excited to tell you that I too am stepping back from the Blog sisters – for a bit – just to keep up with all that God has us in ~ as doing ‘life’ in the kingdom!

Last night I taught on Session #4 from The Inheritance
and we had much discussion – plus – I have written homework for my girls [about 27 of them] and they are doing the work!!

The best part was that last night I saw and heard in those ladie’s voices that they are receiving this study into their hearts! They are truly understanding the concept of Inheritance! For me this is the completion of both – Believing God and The Patriarchs – a fulfillment of God’s promises – even to me!

I am so honored to share this road with you~ keep writing and take all the time you need! We are hungry for His Word~!

    Choosing JOY, Stephanie

    Siesta Mama!
I have definitely missed you. I’m really excited about this James study though – it reminds me of my mama. She did Kay Arthur’s James study a while back and talked constantly about it (and still does!).
I’m inspired by your taking away from something you love so much for the purpose of doing God’s work. That’s really incredible to me.
thanks for that and for caring so much and for doing so much!
praying for you and Melissa. Loving you so much!!!

    Kathy says:

Next Tuesday I am scheduled for a very serious health test but am praying for a Miracle from the Lord in my body before then. What a testimony of His Power to the doctors that would be! Tonight in our Beth Moore study was on- “He hath not given us a spirit of fear but of POWER, of love and of a sound mind.” I will be claiming this all week as fear gripped me a few weeks ago. I am totally trusting Him with this situation-“I’m believin God!” We KNOW He heals and He still works Miracles!! Just wish your study on James was done -esp.5:13-16. Have called for an elder-if it does not work out, the ESV Study Bible states beautifully that prayer for healing is not limited to the elders, but we are directed to PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER because the righteous have GREAT POWER in prayer.
I am therefore “talking on this Tuesday” already that you would pray for me and with me regarding this matter.

On the AUTHORITY of the Word of God you will have GREAT POWER! Amen and Amen. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Beth,

I will be praying for you and Melissa as you both do the specific work that God is calling you to do at this time, which clearly involves the book of James.

I’ve learned about how God can put His words in our mouths (Jeremiah 1:9). He has definitely spoken to me in the current study I’m doing of yours on Revelation. I trust Him to continue speaking through you — and Melissa — through this James Bible study. Praise the LORD that He gives you specific direction as to which part of His Word to study and teach, and when.

Love you, love you love you. You and Melissa will be in my thoughts and prayers….when I think about checking this blog (it has become a habit), then I will do so in the format it will take, but it will also serve as a reminder to pray for you two as you work on the James study.

True story about 3 months ago I had a dream about you amanda and me. We were at your house and you asked me if I wanted to ride on the roller coaster Keith had just installed for you. (is that spelled right). I said no numerous times but you and Amanda dragged me on this ride in your house. I was crying and you were saying but look at all the wild life Keith has killed. Still true story we get off the ride and now we are hiding in the basement from the Indian’s. Let me just say I have no idea what your house looks like but I have a picture in my head. Im cracking myself up again you should have dreamed this… I then rededicated my life in your basement because I thought I was going to die you were holding my hand. Now Im not sure where Amanda went at this time. Then I guess I woke up because that’s all I remember. Did you get through that?? I will miss you but two months will go by fast. LOVE YOU SO MUCH Ps I promise to say a special prayer for you every Tuesday!!!

    Dear Beth,
You replied to my comment on your Happy Place post and asked me to let you know about my Dad. This seems like as good of a spot as that one to let you know that God did take him to his “Happy Place” this morning. It has been a roller coaster month, but we were glad to “let him go”.

Thank you and all of your family for all you do. I will be excited when the James study is complete. I will be praying for you
