Greeting From Beth, October 11,2010 from LPV on Vimeo.
My Dearly Loved Siestas, please watch the video greeting when you get a chance so that I can fill you in on what to expect for the next 2 months. This written post does not take the place of the video so please be sure to watch it. This is only to reiterate what I shared with you in the video about what to expect on here while I’m away. You will still find…
*Siesta Scholarship Giveaway Tickets to events that fall within this time period.
*Living Proof Live Recaps of the events that fall within this time period. (And, yes, I will read the comments to those events just like I normally would. I will just discipline myself not to write back.)
*A possible entry here or there on special occasions or when I’m bursting to tell you something that won’t really translate into the James study.
*”Talk To Me Tuesdays” – Every Tuesday I’ll put up a post where you do all the talking. (It will begin next week.) Tell me in a concise paragraph how you are, or what God is doing, or something funny that’s happened, or what you’re learning. Although I will hold myself back from responding to them, I will be anxiously and joyfully reading as many of them as possible. In this way, I get to continue to be inspired by your journeys with God and, when I’m tempted to respond, will, instead, put that energy into writing the Bible study. This format will also help you stay in touch with one another and allow you to directly respond to each other.
We will be very busy in 2011 here in Siestaville with the return of the Siesta Scripture Memory Team! I better take this chance NOW!
I could almost cry telling you how much you mean to me and how I will miss you. STAY IN THE WORD! Pray for your Siesta Mama. And I will pray for you. We’ll all be back together before you know it.
I love you. Really.
PS. Because Twitter doesn’t really consume creative energy (grin), I will probably try to keep up with that unless it gets distracting. So far it hasn’t been. It’s fun but I don’t have the attachment to it that I have here. If you want to join us there, it’s (this is so embarrassing) @bethmooreLPM. I feel like an idiot.
I was wondering where Mama Beth was! I’ve missed you. I’m so inspired by your love and dedication, and I completely understand where you are coming from. I SO look forward to the study of James. I’ll be praying for you and Melissa while you are working hard. God will bless you for being diligent and studious workers! Love ya in Arkansas!
Praying for you and Melissa as you put the pen to paper! My pastor husband is starting a series on James in two weeks. I can’t wait to hear him teach it. And, I can’t wait to do your study when it comes out. James is my favorite book in the Bible! Love to you!!

I will miss you mama Beth but I know you are doing what God has called you to do. I look forward to the James study when it comes out.

Awe Beth!
The quietness on the blog is going to make all of you very very missed! BUT you are loved & supported in your choices! So don’t worry. We are here for you! We are praying for the work you are putting into James for us.
We love ya!
Blessings!
You and your family have already been in my prayers, wondering what you’ve been up to for the past 8 days. Thanks for letting us know you are well and diving deep into James for us. I will continue in my prayers for all of you. <>
Thanks Siesta Mama! I will be praying for you as you finish up the James study. TTYT–i.e. talk to you Tuesdays! ๐
Love,
Missy
Hi Sweet Beth,
Thanks for this post – I’ve been missing you!
Know of our daily prayer for you, Melissa, and the staff there at LPM as you spend this focused time preparing this study of James. We love you so!
Sister Lynn (and the gang in Clyde!)
Hope God blesses your work these next couple months!
We love you, too, Beth! Will look forward to filling you in on Tuesdays about what’s going on in our lives. May God lead and guide and bless you as you get James up and running. I don’t tweet, but now you make me wish I did! ๐
Beth,
Know that I will be praying for you that the Lord speaks to you and through you. I want to encourage you in your discipline to lay down something difficult but we know the Lord will bless your obedience.
I am excited for Talk to me Tuesday’s and am over the moon about starting scripture memory in January!
Blessings,
Karla
I will be praying for you and Melissa and the James study. I think you are making the right decision in taking a break to focus on what you need to do!
You take all the time you need!!! We love you!!! We will pray and can’t wait to see what God does with James. Mighty is our God!
You Go Girl! Can’t WAIT to share in your study of James… love that book! ๐ May His Spirit fill you as you seek His Face – with depth of insight, in His wisdom and knowledge… and may you about with Love!!!!!!
I will be praying for an amazing little break for you, Siesta Mama! Praying He pour out His direction, wisdom and guidance on you and Melissa. Thanks for loving us so much!
PS…my 10 yr old son just peeked over my shoulder and said, “Are you sending HER something? SISTY Mama?!” Then fell down and started laughing and rolling around. My fam just doesnt understand this whole blog thing ๐
Whew, I thought maybe we New Englanders did you in!!! So glad you are okay and you do what you need to do- will keep you in prayer!!!
I HAVE to tell you this story. Because I love you dearly and had a hilarious and divinely inspired “experience” with you last night.
My husband and I were driving home to Birmingham from a date day in Atlanta for the Braves game and we started talking about a fear that our 9yo daughter is experiencing right now. She plays VERY competitive softball, and is talented beyond her years, but has recently developed a crippling fear of the ball – which, for obvious reasons, makes playing softball difficult. We have talked with her and prayed with her about it. We made her a wristband with Isaiah 41:10 on it. But have seen little progress. So I was telling him about session 4 in Esther on fear, which I have on my iphone. So we listened to it in the car and are working on ways to help her through this. It was such a surreal moment – 1st, watching my guy learning how tough it is to be a woman (HAHA!) and 2nd, watching his face as your voice came on at the beginning of the session (the voice over part) – he said “she sounds like a Disney princess.” Obviously he’s a dad of 3 young daughters! It was absolutely hilarious and ranks up there as one of my favorite memories.
LOVE YOU! Can’t wait till DS Bham! Hope to get to hug your neck!
Robyn
Robyn, I think it’s great that we have our very own ‘Disney Princess’!! I like his description!!
And Beth is the best Disney princess EVER!
Thanks for filling us in on what’s up. I will miss ya’ll on the blog, and be excited when you return… but I am glad you are getting the time and space needed to write this study. I’m an writer myself and I know sometimes, you just got to do what you got to do to get it done correctly. I’m looking forward to the James study, and the 2011 memory verses. I so failed on that last yr.
Take care, and I’ll read ya later.
I think any of us who actually have our own blogs totally get the need to pull back from time to time. Looking forward to “Talk To Me Tuesdays” and how the Lord will talk to me personally. Love you, sweet lady, and I look forward with GREAT anticipation to getting to see you this weekend.
Donna
Donna, I too can’t wait to see you and Beth this weekend! Woo hoo… Siesta time! Love you both so much.
Your thoughts and words are so precious. Just to know that there is Joy in the Lord that His mercy, His peace, and His wisdom is speaking to you is humbling.
I pray that He will give you a heart-full of His wisdom, peace and rest when needed, the strength to accomplish His work and His presence to get things done according to His will. May God bless you in an extra-special way.
May He prepare the hearts of women who will hear His Word through this Bible Study.
It is worth it all when God is doing something spectacular in the lives of others.
Touch a Heart for You, Lord
Speak softly to their soul
that they may come to know You
And You can make them whole.
Touch a Heart for you, Lord
That needs to know Your love
And give You all the praise
To praise you for Heaven above.
Touch a Heart for you, Lord
That cries out in despair
Give them the hope they are looking for
And bless them with answered prayer!
~joyce~
(Please know I love you and truly care about others. I hope what I write will encourage other women, Not for my glory for God’s Glory and praise.)
Beth, you ask me to share something God is doing in my life_through your Bible studies I have realized that I needed more of God even though I was a Christian. God is to be my security, my comfort, my hope, my joy, and my all. Sometimes, it has me in tears__I want to love Him more and more.
Joyce,
You write beautiful poems.
Blessings,
Patti Hayes
Patti, You are so sweet. I believe God speaks to my heart and tells me what to write. Hope it encourages others and it a blessing to be used for His glory.
I don’t often comment, I guess its the time issue, but I do check the blog daily. I love it and I think you are an awesome family of women who do a mighty work for Jesus. Soooo, I will miss it terribly, but I am so looking forward to the James study! I will be praying for you and probably still checking the blog, just in case! I will be in Rapid City to see you in November and cannot wait for that! God’s greatest blessings on you and Melissa as you write for His glory!
Hi Beth!
I love reading your blog, books, and listening online. I will miss reading your blog posts, but I can’t wait for your James Bible Study to be out. It’s one of my favorite books. I’m a freelance writer, and so I understand the time you need for concentrating on this book! My husband & I & kids moved to South Korea last month, and I continue to be blessed by your ministry.
Enjoy your writing! Praying for you.
~Tina Cho
Beth,
I am so excited about your new study on James coming soon! You are a huge inspiration to me and I love how Melissa is working in ministry with you! God Bless you and can’t wait to learn about James!
Joanna
I too have had to make thoes difficult decisions to say no to some important things in my life. Thanks for setting healthy bounderies! It gives others of us the courage to do the same when the Lord requiers it.

My 5yr old comes to the computer…”Are you sending an email to her. She is not even real! LOL”
Just wanted to say thank you Beth for your obedient heart. I have joked with friends that I want to be like you “when I grow up” May God bless you and Melissa on this journey.
I pray God’s richest blessings of wisdom and grace on y’all as you are writing, and I can’t wait to study it myself. I have three days of homework left and one more video of the Esther study, and I have been absolutely blown away. Thank you for taking the time God requires of you. ๐ Much love!
Beth,
Please know you’ll be in my prayers during this time of intense writing. Your writings, whether they are bible studies, books, or thoughts, are such a blessing to me and to everyone else. I’m so excited about the James Bible Study. The first Bible Study I took part in was Kay Arthur’s Precepts study on James. That was 16 years ago and has stuck to me all this time. I can’t wait to take part in your study on James and breathe in your insights and see how The Word speaks anew to me in my new stage of life. Thanks for all you do!
Will be praying for you and Melissa and your team as you take this ‘siesta’ from the blog. Oh, how thankful I am for you. The Lord uses you, even in this small video, to make me hungry for Him…how I want more of Him. Hugs to you and your loved ones!
Hi Mama Beth!
I know that it will be hard for you to pull away but know that we WILL be here when you get back!! We’re not going anywhere and I fully support you taking this time to focus on what God’s called you to do. I love that you shared it with us by video…so cute! ๐ Plus, I don’t know why you’re embarrassed about twitter, I love when you pop into Twitterland and do a little tweeting!
I look forward to hearing how the next 8wks go for you and Melissa. May God bless you both with focus and energy like you’ve never had before as you write this study. I can’t wait to do the study myself! I also look forward to reading what’s going on in the lives of all the dear ladies on Tuesdays. This time will fly by…just think it’ll almost be Christmas!! ๐
Love you all and praying for you daily!
Nikki
Hi Beth!
Due to my deep rooted issues of abandonment, if I had seen that video six months ago, I would have had “the ugly cry.” But, praise God, with all the work he has been doing, I only choked up a little at the end when you were signing off.
So, first I say – go Beth!! We are behind you one Thousand percent and are praying for you! I greatly respect and admire your vision, focus and dedication to the work God has given you.
Also, I would like to offer to host a venue that might help fill some of the gap for some Siestas. I have been working on setting up a Bible/Theology study blog to discuss “nuts and bolts” type issues like Melissa asks us. I am definitely not the scholar Melissa is, but would love to have people to investigate those kinds of issues with. Any Siestas want to join me?
Beth – thank you for all you do. We will definitely miss you, but will stay in the Word and anticipate a great James study next year.
Love to you!
Darling Beth,
Isn’t it interesting when the Holy Spirit whispers something to you privately and then He confirms it through His body? I had sensed for the last few days that the Lord was asking me to better discipline my time spent on the blog. I’ll admit I struggled with rationalizations at first, but remembered that He is always for us. So though difficult to hear, your words were just a confirmation of what I believed the Lord was already saying.
Thanks for setting such a wonderful example and prioritizing your God-given ministry. I for one am a different gal b/c of His Spirit at work through His Word taught through your Bible studies. Privileged to pray. Write On!
It is so funny. We know each other so well now. I don’t mean you and I but the community in general. I have been thinking about you all and praying that all was OK with you because we have not heard from you. So very glad to hear that you are just busy doing what God has called you to do and not ill or having other issues. Praise Him.
Looking so forward to James. Praying for you and Melissa and everyone involved in getting that into our hands.
Love you so much, you and your ministry mean so very much to me. It is because you obeyed our Father that I have fallen in love with Bible study and ultimately in love with Jesus all over again.
I know you will not really be taking a “siesta.” Instead you will be hard at work dreaming about taking a siesta!
Hang in there. God bless you.

Phil 4:8
What a great example you are Siesta Mama! I think, as Christian women, it is so easy to go and do and say “yes” to good, Godly things, but sometimes we get so overloaded we can’t focus on what is important. We need to learn how to concentrate on what God is calling us to at that moment and not just busy ourselves with all the good, little Christian activities. So thank you for showing us how to do that. I will be praying for you in the next two months and I am already looking forward to James! Love to you!
Mama Beth,
I am in the 4th week of my first time through Daniel with a group of wise, wonderful women. What a time of learning and growing. My resolve remains strong, to break away from the things of Babylon that still have me captive. One thing that God brought right into my face is as you put it, “constantly thinking little of ourselves is still thinking constantly of ourselves.” Thank you Jesus for opening my eyes and my heart to this message.
ANYWAY, my whole point was, that although I will miss you Beth, I know that in doing His will, we will all receive and wonderful study of James! It will be just as magnificent as He is! My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
Joan
Gotcha Seista Mama. I particiapte in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)in October. It takes great discipline to write intensely, but not drop off the face of the earth without neglecting God, your relationships, and your responsiblities. So, every time I think of you in the next 8 weeks, I will pray for you. I can’t wait to study the book of James to see what God has to teach me through you and Melissa. Love you girls!
ok!!!!
My bible study women (together 4 years) are in the middle of your Revelation study right now and we are LOVING.IT.SO.MUCH. The book of James saved my life. I was saved to “count it all joy” in the midst of a painful, unwanted divorce. I cannot wait to see what Jesus does with you through this time that you spend on writing the study…and Lord willing, I cannot wait to read it! Be blessed. Thank you Beth, for all you do for us who love Jesus so much and just want to know Him more!
Beth,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to pray for you and Melissa as you follow what God has laid on your hearts. I am so excited to study what He has been teaching you both when the study of James comes out!! Until then, know that I will be praying for you and count it a joy that the next two months I will be able to participate in that way. What an honor to go before the throne of grace with boldness on your behalf.
Love you,
Sarah Rader

P.S. Even though I love to get to pray for you in regards to this study, I am still looking forward to mid-December!
I will miss reading your posts Beth but know I will be praying for you! Can not wait for the James study and excited to get involved in the Siesta Scripture Memory Team next year! Thank you for your devoted service to Our Savior and to women all over the world! Love You!
I totally get it. You go momma! Love the talk to me Tuesdays too!
My bible study group just started To Live is Christ last week! I’ll have to tell them that James won’t come for another year – we’ll definitely do that. It’s crazy to think that by the time we’re into your James study, at least one of us will be a new mom, ALL of us will be married and graduated, and who knows what else. The Talk to Me Tuesdays will be great! Our study will be praying for you during this time and remember, don’t sweat it too much – all of your studies are incredible. God works through you in ways you probably don’t even realize!
Love you Beth, Melissa and Amanda. We all have to turn our focus for a season to different things that require our full attention. I know I have! Praying for you as God directs on the Study of James. I look forward to taking it in the future. Jesus knows I need help in the Tongue Department!! I know there is more to James than that but that is all I seem to gravitate to. Can’t wait to see what else you pull out of it through the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Thanks for letting us know what’s going on. I’m very excited to know that the SSMT will resume in January.
James is a book that has always spoken to me, so I look forward to doing the study. I have made a repeating Outlook task to remind me to pray for you!
Thank you for how much you think of us. You are the very best Siesta Mama a girl could ever have! I look forward to “seeing” you and Melissa again in a couple of months.
Until then…. love and prayers for y’all and the James study. ๐
Will be praying for you and Melissa as you write the James study. Can’t wait until it comes out! And I can’t wait for Siesta Scripture Memory 2011 – woo hoo. I have been doing that with my Bible study gals this fall since we are doing the Inheritance series that does not have homework.

Dear Beth, I am so thankful you are not shutting the blog down for awhile. It is the highlight of my day to hear from you and your sweet daughters. I want you to know that I appreciate your dedication to the Word and am so looking forward to the new study. I have taken every one of your studies so far and always been so truly blessed. I want you to know that you will be in my prayers and throughts everyday. I will miss you all so much but totally understand why you have to do this for awhile. Much Love and Many prayers, Bobbie
Precious Lord Jesus, I lift up Beth and Melissa to You as they long to hear from the Holy Spirit during this time of writing a Bible Study on James. I pray for focus, creativity and perserverence for them both. Thank You for their ministry which we know would be for nothing if You are not the center of it. In Your Precious Name, Amen. See you in mid-Dec…
You mean we get special opportunities to bless you back?!! Whoohoo!! After all you do for us, it will be a PRIVILEGE to participate in “Talk to Me Tuesdays.” =)
Praying and looking forward to James when it’s ready.
