Greeting From Beth, October 11,2010 from LPV on Vimeo.
My Dearly Loved Siestas, please watch the video greeting when you get a chance so that I can fill you in on what to expect for the next 2 months. This written post does not take the place of the video so please be sure to watch it. This is only to reiterate what I shared with you in the video about what to expect on here while I’m away. You will still find…
*Siesta Scholarship Giveaway Tickets to events that fall within this time period.
*Living Proof Live Recaps of the events that fall within this time period. (And, yes, I will read the comments to those events just like I normally would. I will just discipline myself not to write back.)
*A possible entry here or there on special occasions or when I’m bursting to tell you something that won’t really translate into the James study.
*”Talk To Me Tuesdays” – Every Tuesday I’ll put up a post where you do all the talking. (It will begin next week.) Tell me in a concise paragraph how you are, or what God is doing, or something funny that’s happened, or what you’re learning. Although I will hold myself back from responding to them, I will be anxiously and joyfully reading as many of them as possible. In this way, I get to continue to be inspired by your journeys with God and, when I’m tempted to respond, will, instead, put that energy into writing the Bible study. This format will also help you stay in touch with one another and allow you to directly respond to each other.
We will be very busy in 2011 here in Siestaville with the return of the Siesta Scripture Memory Team! I better take this chance NOW!
I could almost cry telling you how much you mean to me and how I will miss you. STAY IN THE WORD! Pray for your Siesta Mama. And I will pray for you. We’ll all be back together before you know it.
I love you. Really.
PS. Because Twitter doesn’t really consume creative energy (grin), I will probably try to keep up with that unless it gets distracting. So far it hasn’t been. It’s fun but I don’t have the attachment to it that I have here. If you want to join us there, it’s (this is so embarrassing) @bethmooreLPM. I feel like an idiot.
Beth,
Thank you for being so thoughtful of us and taking the time to make that video!
May the power of God surround you and Melissa during this time of writing and planning to teach others about His Word and His love. I pray peace, and joyful surrender for you and your precious daughter, as our Lord works through you and Melissa to teach others about Christ and his love of us! May every person He wants to reach from this study have their ears and eyes wide open! May every aching heart find His direction and His hand on their lives!
You guys are on my prayer list! So much love sent your way, as well as to all the other siestas on here.
Kristi
Beth,
You will be missed, but it is totally understandable. I will be lifting you and Melissa up in prayer as you undertake this. I am so looking forward to this study. James is one of my favorite books! In fact I just picked up Charles Swindoll’s James and I and II Peter commentary.
I will check in on Tuesday’s. I hope you will take those Tuesdays if you need prayer for the study or for anything to ask us!
Love you!
Stephanie
Beth, Amanda and Melissa – thanks for demonstrating what obedience looks like!! Sometimes its so hard to take that step of faith to what God is calling me to due to the sacrifice it means… I have been convicted, Praise Him. Happy writing, happy parenting and may God pour out!!
I must admit that you won’t be very far as I’m currently doing “Stepping Up” (Psalms of Ascent)so I feel like I hear from you every day. Will be praying for you & the rest of the team as I can’t wait for the book of James bible study.
I’m still new to this Siesta blog community, but I wanted to just encourage both Beth and Melissa and say we gladly release you to write your next awesome study!! I’ll be looking forward to James and seeing what amazing truths the Lord reveals to you to share with us. I pray protection over you both from the distractions of the enemy and hope that we here in blogland can be a source of joy and love as you tackle this giant project. Thanks for all you do!
Dearest Beth,
You are such a dear heart. Thank you for updating us. I’ve been wondering if something big was going on in your world, since you hadn’t blogged in a while. James is pretty big!! Thank you for showing us how to set boundries for ourselves.
Father, I pray that you will meet Miss Beth through the power of the Holy Spirit on the pages of the new James study. I pray that you will give her the exact right words, and stories to speak Your truths to us. Also, pray your covering and inspiration over Melissa. In Jesus’s Mighty name, Amen
Much Love,

Psalm 16:5-6 has been on my heart the past few days and I pass it on to you as an encouragement for this season. “LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” I hope you are blessed beyond belief the next several weeks and months as you work on the new study. Our inheritance is truly the ability to study God’s Word with your guidance. I am so looking forward to the James study, I think it will transform the women who take it! I will be looking forward to Tuesdays!
We will miss you…have fun writing James!!! ๐
I think it is so neat how much you care about this community. Thank you for the update and for being faithful to do what God is speaking to you ๐
Beth, I have just started on the Faithful, Abundant and True Bible Study. I am so excited about it! Can’t wait to do your study on James!
Thanks for everything you do.
I will be praying for you!
AAAWWWWWWW(sad face) I will miss you Siesta mama, but I will be praying for you!! Tha first thing that I do every single morning is to turn my computer on and immediately go to your blog…I will miss you, but I know that this James study will be wonderful and full of blessing for us all just because you are letting God and the Holy Spirit take full control..God bless you mama!
We’ll miss you, but pray that this time is more productive than you could ever imagine!
You go girl! We will sadly miss hearing from you, but look forward to the James study to “catch up” with what we missed. We love you and will be praying for you and for this project. I know God has big things in store for you! We love you and thank you for taking this break from us, because we know it will make the study even more Christ-filled and even better without us bugging you!
Have a great couple of months!
Steph
Ok I totally get it and am trying soooo hard not to be selfish here!!! I was already having some big withdrawals from this week alone! 8 weeks??? Oh goodness me! I’ll have to get an intervention plan ….. every time I am longing for a post from my siesta momma I will turn that into praying for you and Melissa. Lucky for you girls that will be multiple times a day!!! ๐
P.S. Already follow you on Twitter and LOVE it!!!!
Beth,
Bless you for being so open to the Holy Spirit’s leading that you even hear “Pull back, Beth!” I am so excited for you and Melissa! The next two months will be a blast! I wouls almost be jealous if I didn’t know that I will be the one to reap the benefits of all your hard work when the James study comes out. I can’t wait! James is my absolute favorite book of the Bible!!
Know that I will be praying for you both!!
-Patty
Bye, Beth! I’ve been missing you already! – but time will fly. It’s comforting to know I get to visit with you each week through the new Breaking Free series while you are away. …Thank you for loving us. We love you, too, and will certainly be praying for you and Melissa as you write. May Jesus shoot those lightening bolts of His wisdom and power and glory right through both of your hearts and minds and onto those pages. Be blessed. We’ll wait with bated breath for your full return. ๐ (Gotta run: I’m off to join Twitter so I can keep up with my buddy Beth.)
We get it. We appreciate all the time you take to attend to us and we will all benefit from the time you take to focus on this James study. One of my favorite studies ever was one our pastor did on James. Incredible. I welcome the opportunity to revisit it with you.
Praying the God speaks greatly to you in the study of James and uses it grow women more and more in love and intimacy with Jesus!
I was wondering just this morning why nothing new was on the blog! I’m super excited to know that everyone and everything is OK! Miss Beth, take the time you need to develop this Bible study. We will all be blessed by the sacrifice you make these next 2 months. I’ll definitely miss reading the blog, but I am really excited and looking forward to the Siesta Memory scripture thing for 2012! WOOHOO!
May you be blessed with tons of creativity and clear writing over the next 2 months (and year) until James is complete!

Siesta Mama,
I certainly appreciate your honesty. I am looking forward to your book on James, it’s 5 small chapters on big convictions!
I think “Talk to me Tuesdays” is a brillant idea! I am anxious to start the Bible memory verses in 2011.
Time will fly so fast, see you soon!

Good for you for listening to the Lord and setting good boundaries so you can go for the BEST. Praying for you and the team.
Siesta Mama,
We are so glad to hear from you! I pray you and Melissa will be very productive in these next two months. God will honor your obedience to take a little break from the blog. Can’t wait for scripture memory again! I’ve been doing it on my own with my little spiral, but it’s not quite the same as last year:) See you on Tuesdays.
I’m not going to lie, I will so miss hearing from you and what is on your heart. But I am truly encouraged by you taking a break from a certain area of life to focus on what God is asking you and needing you to do for the sake of His kingdom and glory. I will be praying for you and Melissa, sweet friend. You might want to give a pep talk to your coffee maker….it may have some “overtime” in its future.
Much love,
Misti
Beth, I’ll be praying for you and Melissa as you dive into writing. I’ll be doing something similar as I now enter the writing phase for my doctoral dissertation on marketplace ministry. Looking forward to eventually enjoying the fruit of your work and doing the James study. Love from Jakarta, Indonesia.
Aw I just love you!!
Well, what a great idea Beth! Especially the Tuesday thing with the siestas. Honestly, I don’t know how you get done all that you do! I think this is akin to the fact that when I am in the middle of one of your daily Bible studies, I do them home alone (with no kids or hubby interrupting), and I do not answer my phones!! Currently, I’m in your Psalms study and absolutely AMAZED at how every week God has answered a prayer specifically for me, like questions I had that only He could know!! And He used you to do it!!! ๐ How awesome is that, and how wonderful is our God!!! So I’ll be praying for you, and maybe try the Twitter thing for fun…
God bless you in your writings!
Jen
p.s. I think I may change my public “name” to “44choirgirl” since we started our fall season last week and I am a helper there.
Beth,
Your work on James will more than compensate for 8 weeks of being away from the blog. No need to apologize in the slightest. You are doing God’s work–the blogging community can certainly wait! I look forward to the study on one of my favorite books of the Bible!
Completely love and respect what you are doing FOR us not TO us ๐ See you on Twitter in the meantime!
Dear friends Beth and girls,
We will miss reading your entries the next couple of months but I’m so thankful for your making the James study a priority. I was skimming through the book this weekend and was totally overwhelmed thinking of all the meaty issues it covers. It seems like it’ll be tough to choose -maybe the study can go 15 or 16 weeks….!! Will be praying that God’s Spirit guides you in the selection and teaching of the portions He lays on your heart.
Love you all,
Hey Beth,
I kinda sensed something was up! I thoroughly appreciate your sentiment. I too am having to re-shape the margins of my time and commitments. Tuesday talk time sounds great! I will miss you, though I so look forward to God’s Spirit pouring out in the final production of your study on the book of James . . . one of my all time favorites. Thank you for serving the Kingdom.
BTW: Our church is fortunate to have a Spirit directed author in our midst. The study we’re doing is call “The Whole Enchilada.” It’s an overview of the whole Bible and how it all works together in 8 weeks!!
You take that 8 weeks and longer if needed!! I am reading in the book of James at this time. I can hardly wait to share your new study with my ladies whenever it is ready!!
Rock on Momma!!! lots of prayers for you and Melissa as you work, and Amanda as she mommies! Having 2 little boys I am not sure but that you and melissa won’t have the easier task ahead of you-just kidding. love to you all!
Mama Beth…we will miss you so much! However, I would not want to be the thing that came between you and one of your Bible studies! I will be praying mightly for you over the next two months and I will be looking forward to the day I can get my hands on that study. I love the book of James and can’t wait to see what God speaks through you! We’ll just talk amongst ourselves while your away. ;o)
Much love!
Kimberly
Praying for you Beth, Melissa and Amanda too, as well as your families. Will be looking forward to the study of James and siesta scripture memory. Love you!!

Hey Beth! Feelin’ overwhelmed? I understand.
Hey, I’m doing the 4th video of the Patriarchs Tuesday, the 12 th
i was wondering, if you could bring a baby shower gift to Sarah and Isaac what would you bring? I would bring a hand knitted blanket for Isaac, and My mom thought I should tell you(i’m 14 yrs old), that i thought i should bring a Bible for Sarah, I mean the woman isn’t gonna ever see or most likely dream of the idea of a Bible, let alone involving her personally. What do you think?
I love ya siesta mama!:)
Your Little Siesta:)
I love you, too, Beth. Really. ๐
And will be praying for you and Melissa as you undertake this wonderful journey in James. I have no doubt our Lord will show up in marvelous and delightful ways and rock your socks off!
Beth:
You are such a wonderful insperation to us all and the writing of James will bless us so much that these 8 weeks will just fly by and and it will be for our benefit. Take care of you, because you always take care of us.
Love you and will talk to you on Tuesdays…
Lichelle
1.Aww, teacher’s pet, really? ME??
2.Keep telling me that you love me and that I am precious to you. It fills me up. Almost believing it, too.
3.I cannot tell you how much it means to me to have a woman of faith to look up to from a messed up world. It gives me hope. (Not a lot of other flesh and blood does that.)
4.I love how open, vulnerable, and R.E.A.L. you are.
I love you Mama Beth, be blessed during your siesta. I know we certainly will be blessed from the fruit of it.
Dear Lord~
Please bless your servants, Beth & Melissa as they prepare the bible study on James. Fill them with the Holy Spirit and guide them supernaturally to write a study that glorifies You. May the study reach thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of women across the planet to realize how awesome You are.
In Your Most Precious & Holy Name,
Amen
Beth,
Praying for you and yours over the next eight weeks. I love you.
Kim
Girlfriend! I will for sure be lifting you up in prayer as you start the writing for James.
(I’m kindof partial to his name since my daddy and my grandaddy are named James after him.) Will be looking forward to doing this study one day…
Be blessed in your time of focus Siesta Mama.
much love!

Will be praying for you all:o) Looking forward to Tuesdays!
Applauding!!! I have been praying all summer long that you would have a little break somewhere…and I know that you will be diligent and working hard with Melissa on James. But I want you, dear Beth, to recover your life. You have been so very busy on our behalf.
I love you! So much. And I am praying that God would completely make this study His own heart on the page for you, for Melissa, and down the road for us. How can we ever say thanks? Now I’m crying (as Andre Crouch begins playing in my mind–To God Be the Glory!)…I’m such a girl! Ha!
With Love,
Holly
who was Crown Laid Down, but is now A Martha Heart. Do come by and see. Trish and I have been dreaming about it for 3 years now.
OH! And I’m mailing 63 Siesta cookbooks out tomorrow. Can you believe it?
Holly, I can’t believe you’re still mailing cookbooks-that’s awesome! I think of our Siesta Fiesta so often and use recipes from the CB a lot! Fun weekend for sure!
Saw your blog and YES, PLEASE take the time you need to write what the Holy Spirit lays on your heart. We will always be here for you and with you. Most of us will some what more distracted too with teh coming of he holidays. I have this goal every year to have a cleaned up, spanky clean houe for the baby Jesus at Christmas!!! I don’t always make it cuz if I get bogged down by a memory trunk!!!! I can become sidelined quickly. What’s a memory trunk??? It journals I have written, volumes of my fight with bipolar disorder. The triumphs and the tragedy of it. Then there are photo albums from the past, old letters I wrote to someone long before the advent of internet and Facebook. They are neat to find as it takes me back to those times. I can get very bogged down with all that and miss a full day or two of cleaning for that!!! You will still be traveling I would guess becuz you are scheduled to be in Rapid City come Nov and if the weather on the prairies hold, I will be driving the whole 7 hrs to see you. I will need protection too from the elements such as ragging snow storms!!!! Gotta run. Bless you. We are doing Daniel study after my first study with you which was Esther. I will keep you in prayer.
You will be dearly missed…but I so look forward to doing the James Bible Study one day. I know it will have an impact on my life as all of your other studies I’ve completed have had. May the Lord continue to bless you and Melissa on this exciting endeavor He has you on together!
I just started your A Woman’s Heart study with my church’s womens group so I’ll still get to “be” with you. Thank you so much for your care for us, I feel it so much! I think Talk to Me Tuesday is a FANTASTIC idea. Excited about that.
God bless YOU in this concentrated time in the James study. I hope the prayers of those here on the blog and those around you strengthen and bless you.
Dear, sweet Beth, thank you so much for explaining what is going on. You, Melissa, Amanda, all your families & the LPM team will be in my prayers continually during these next several weeks. Prayers will be going your way for your writing on the James Bible study. Take care dear one…I will probably have ‘withdrawals’ from the blog but will know the Siestas are always in your heart. Take care….
You go girls! I’ll be praying for you as someone new to this blog who now looks to the posts and comments for a quick uplift thru my day while I have been on maternity leave this last 8 wks at home with my newest blessing and a toddler and preschooler! At times, this blog has truly kept me sane!!! Can’t wait for the new study on one of the most powerful and meaningful books of the Bible! ๐
I’ll miss you girls but totally understand that you need to take this time to focus on “our” next study! Exciting time! Mama – in the midst of “Esther” and thoroughly appreciate all of the time you put into these studies. We are blessed by God through you, so thank you for all of your dedication to the Word and to the Lord.
Look forward to when you are back here with your Siestas!
HUGS and prayers for you and Melissa as you work these next months.
Beth,
Praying for you during this time in which you are taking off to write the Bible Study James. I pray that I will be able to take this study when it comes out.
God will be with you everyday during the next few months in which you can not be here to blog.
Praying for you,
