Siesta Summer Bible Study 3 Launch

Hey, Siestas! It’s time for summer Bible study! For the sake of rich fellowship and vital accountability, we hope as many of you as possible are meeting with small groups and on every other Tuesday or as close to Tuesdays as possible. You are absolutely welcome to join us solo but try to stay as involved as possible in the discussions so that you’ll feel plugged in. This is what you’ll do every other Tuesday:

1. Watch the video so you’ll have your instructions for your gathering or for your solo experience. I will always put the bare bones of the instructions in writing on the post just in case there is a video malfunction.

2. (You will find these instructions reiterated in this post because it’s fundamental to the experience.) If you are in a small group, designate one person who will write a comment to this post briefly telling us about your group and your discussion. It can be a different person each week or the same. START THE COMMENT WITH THE CITY, THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AND LOCATION THEN DESCRIBE YOUR GROUP AND ADD SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR DISCUSSION. For instance, I am meeting with my Monday staff members so my comment will begin with:

Houston, Texas; 8 of us; Meeting at Living Proof Ministries. Our group is primarily made up of…The main part of our discussion was about…(And so forth).

3. If you are going solo, your comment will become the way you complete the assignments. In other words, you’ll see that I ask you to describe this season of your life in one word. In your comment, tell us what that one word would be.

Make the length of it one good, descriptive paragraph. Try not to write too much or readers will tend to skip over it.

This clip is to give instructions for your first gathering – the one you are hopefully having today or in next 24 hours. You can watch this together or your leader can watch it and pass on your instructions.

Summer Bible Study – Week 1 from LPV on Vimeo.

I so hope that makes sense! Now, here are the written instructions for your gathering just in case you can’t get the video to work. Welcome aboard! May God take us on a journey that we’ll treasure for many years. Let’s find the Ruth in us, Siestas!

Today in your small group, here’s what I am asking you to do:

1. If you don’t know each other, spend a few minutes finding out some basic biographical information about one another.  (Single, married, still in school, or in a career. Children, no children. The regular stuff. Keep in mind that everybody fits in Bible study. You don’t need to all be alike. In fact, the more alike you all are, the less you may sharpen one another.)

2. Each of you in your small group characterize your life in this present season in ONE WORD.  Have the leader record these.

3. Each of you in your small group share one specific goal you have this summer for being in Bible study. Have the leader record these, too.

4. Look at the very last verse of the Book of Judges (Judges 21:25) because of its placement just prior to the book we’ll study together this summer. Discuss several specific reasons why doing what each of us sees fit at any given time could be dangerous. After several minutes of discussion, read Jeremiah 17:7-14 and talk about how this segment relates or contrasts to Judges 21:25.

Leader: this is very important. You get back on within 24 hours of meeting and write a brief summation of your group time as a comment to this post. Tell us how many came, your city, and something about your group or your group discussion.

*UPDATE*
Here’s a link to the first chapter of Ruth in case you don’t have your workbook yet.

Siesta Momma….if the devil ever talks you out of doing Bible studies there will be hearts breaking ALL over the world! Thank you so much for your insight, your heart of gold, and your love for women…..what would we do without you?
My one word…..”Stagnant”…..which is why this comes at a wonderful time for me! This happens to me every summer as my normal study group breaks for summer….I fail at being disciplined enough to go it all alone though I start off with good intentions. So, I am thrilled to find a study I can do alone from home, yet with others to hold me accountable, and a timetable to keep me on track! I do have an email buddy doing the study, so I am blessed to be able to bounce things off of her!
Thank you Seista Momma, for the blessing that you are!

    Tara Spencer says:

There are 2 of us, both living in Miramichi,NB, Canada.
We came together as friends who wanted to grow and be accountable in our walk with God. We are both mom’s of busy two year old s. We can see how Satan is always at work to try and stop us from getting close to God. This morning when we got together one of our kids started vomiting and throughout the time we watched the video there was several distractions with the children and road construction just outside the window. It reminded us to be resilient in our walk. We both feel that we live in a very selfish society where God is not central on our radar. Everything else is more important but when we need him we want to be the most important thing to him. We both have seen in our own lives how fulfilling it is as women, wives, and mothers, when we live a Christ centered life. God delivers in his promise. Thank you for this summer course. We are so excited to learn more about God’s word.

    Whitney says:

Hi! This is my first Siesta Bible Study and I am going solo. I am 30 years old, Newellton,LA, married with two boys 5 and 3, and a teacher on summer vacation. A word to describe the season of my life would be seeking. The past two years God has answered so many of my prayers, including helping me through a troubled marriage. I am so thankful and I just want more! My husband isn’t a Christian, so I have taken the reigns as the spiritual leader in our family which at times can be very trying and frustrating. I am praying that through my example and my strengthening relationship with God, that He uses me to lead my husband to Christ. So excited about joining this study!

      Lora says:

      Dear Whitney,

Dr Vincent Price from the European Christian Missions preached at my church Sunday and he told a story about a woman he knew that had prayed for 20 years for her husband to be saved. He asked her what her prayer was and she said she wanted him to be saved so he would go to church with her. He told her to pray that her husband be saved so it would bring Glory to God. She changed her prayer and her husband was saved AND he went to church with her! I have no idea if you were supposed to hear that story but there it is! I will pray for your husband to be saved and that you are strengthened and renewed through this study!

      Your Sister in Christ,

      Lora

P.S. I am the mother of two boys also, mine are 31 and 30!

    Shon Tetik says:

Hi from Perry, OK. Doing the study solo. My one word description is “plowed.” My goal for this study is discovering how God can use me for greater kingdom gain. I think Judges 21:25 is such a lonely, desolate verse. I don’t even want to imagine a life without my King! I am a single 48 year old, mother of four grown children-ages 20-28, and “nana” to my precious grandbabies, Aiden and Avery. I am a nurse, currently on medical leave following surgery. I have some free time right now and although I am already in a group study for Esther, I think it’s just a great time to immerse myself in His word.
I used the word “plowed” as my seasonal description. As I drive along the county roads and see the farmers’ fields that have been plowed under, I feel much the same has been occurring in my own life. A great deal of what had been my usual, comfortable life’s “crop” has been churned up and replaced with fresh, new soil. It hasn’t been the most pleasant experience and I often find myself confused and uncertain of what to make of all this “dirt!” So my prayer is for God to grow a fruitful harvest in this servant’s field. Looking forward to reading everyone’s comments along the way. I was just blown away by the tenderness and love the siestas share with one another through the blog. I can see why Beth “bawled” through the postings! Praise God for such blessing!

    Solo!
I am a Navy Wife/Homeschooling mom. Currently live in Omaha, NE but will be transferring to BANGOR, WA this summer. (Which is why I am going “solo” with this study. After 20 years as a military wife, good-bye’s are still hard for me)

“Joy” is my current season of life. I just finished Beth’s “Living Beyond Yourself” with my Bible study ladies and it has INCREDIBLY changed my life. God is so good.

      mk says:

Cheryl, you will be in my neck of the woods! You will love this area for homeschooling, there is a huge community that homeschools (lots of yahoo groups with lots of activities going on). If you need any info and anything or even to hook up for the study – would love to help.
      mk

      • Cheryl says:

Thanks so much. That’s very sweet of you. Our family is really looking forward to moving back to BANGOR. This is our 3rd tour there, but our first as a homeschooling family. As soon as I figure out how, I may private msg you to find out more about the homeschool community.

        Be Blessed!

    Laura says:

Hi, Siestas! I’m Laura, from just outside Jacksonville, FL. For some reason, my comment in the signing-up post didn’t “take” so this will double as my introduction!

I’m doing the study solo, which is fine since I work from home as a full-time technical writer/editor so I have to sneak in my study time here and there as opposed to doing it strictly on a schedule.

The one word to describe my life right now would be “regrouping”–getting my focus back where it belongs… on God! You might say I’ve been away to a Moab–for me, Moab was a land where insecurity and being overly sensitive kept me from so, so much goodness and happiness. (I love what Kelly says on Day 2 about being away in “a distant land of my own choosing”-I can really relate to that!)

I can also REALLY relate to Kelly’s feelings of pouting against God in seasons of disobedience.I have struggled with insecurity (Beth, thank you so much for writing So Long, Insecurity… that could be a whole ‘nother post for me :)) and, more than once, I, too, have pouted when I–thanks completely to my own non-participation, judgmentalism, whatever–felt left out of something.

Sometimes it was right here in Siesta-ville… OH how it breaks my heart to have to admit that!!. The Siesta Scripture Memory group? I didn’t keep up with the group and my arch-enemy insecurity was RIGHT THERE reminding me: “Oh, Laura… you’re not [hip, smart, “Christian,” biblical, whatever] enough to be in a group like that anyway!” and there I went… pouting just like Kelly described!

Needless to say, I am so certain this study is JUST where I need to be. RIGHT NOW!

I have finally (thank you, Father!!) come to a place where my focus is off myself and on God. He has set me free from insecurity and plunked me down squarely here in the middle of Siesta-ville and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I have been a lurker for so long… insecurity was costing me your friendships because I never felt like “one of the gang” enough to even say hello! It’s hard for us insecure girls to make friends but, today, I suddenly feel as though I have a couple thousand new BFFs and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be spending time with you! From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.

    (Please pardon this lengthy introduction!)

      Noelle says:

      Dear Laura,
You are not alone. For some reason I sometimes feel like insecurity is part of a woman’s dna. I too have felt like you and, yet, it is always rewarding when I step out and meet with others. I have had to fight looking at other Christians…always feeling “less than”. But, I know now that I am exactly as God made me and I will shine in the areas He wants me to. And so do you. We’re all different with different strengths. I am so glad you are part of us!

      Mary Ellen Hale says:

Hi, Laura~ I can SO relate to your comments about not feeling cool enough to even say “hello” on this blog! We are a FAMILY so we should feel free to love each other even if thousands of miles separate us! And what a family: NOTHING can separate us from the love of our Father. We have it made! I’m so glad to “meet” you! Love, ME

    • 907.3
      Linda says:

Laura: I too am a work-from-home writer and could’ve written almost everything in your post. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just “writer’s/artist’s temperment” or all a result of being so much alone, mixed in with insecurity and pride. I too am so thankful for Beth and her studies, and God’s sweet, persistent work in our hearts. I’m glad you’re here. You do belong. And you DO have a couple thousand new BFFs! : )

    Kim B. in AZ says:

I am going solo. I am a pastor’s wife with 4 kids. I have been homeschooling for 15 years. I just graduated my third child and only have one more at home. The three older ones are all in college and living in 3 different states. (The will all be a several days drive from home.) I had a hard time choosing one word to describe my life right now. I guess I would have to say changing. My goal for the summer is to get back into the word on a consistent basis and to deepen my relationship with the Lord. The last couple of months have be rather dry spiritually and I have no one or nothing to blame but myself and my lack of time with God. That leads me to the last question. When we do what is right in our own eyes we miss out on the blessings and peace that come when we trust and have confidence in God. When we are in the place of trusting Him we have no need for worry. God know best and provides our needs. Our needs are not to be confused with our wants. We so often think that our wants are our needs. We can’t trust our heart, God says that it is deceitful which is contrary to what the world says. So we need to be trusting God and looking to Him only, then we will have peace.

Kim going solo in Ellenwood, GA. Wife, mom, & Christ follower. Present state: Passionate and excited. I cannot get enough of God and His Word!!! Goal: Seek and find more and more truth. I also want to share God’s message of hope and salvation with others.

Special Message: Joan K., Julia, Kay, and Ernie, I will be praying for each of you. May God touch you all with His unchanging hand. Blessings from your sister siesta.

    Darby says:

We are a group of 8 siestas (only 5 were present at our first meeting) who are of all ages, stages, shapes and sizes. Our group meets at a home in College Station, TX and we’re so happy to get started. WE are excited, challenged, changing, distracted and overwhelmed.

Through this journey together, our goals are: to grow closer to God; re-focus, learn and realize we’re not in control; to grow spiritually and encourage others to step up to lead; reconnect and re-focus; and to learn more about the strong women God chose to fulfill HIS purpose–Godly women are Awesome and we wanna be those kinds of women.

p.s. The enchiladas and Mexican sundaes were devine 🙂 We jumped ahead on our cooking and I’m glad we did!

    Conne says:

Here we go! Off on an exciting journey! We are traveler’s from many places… New Ross, IN, Fortville, IN
McCordsville, IN, Grand Junction, CO, Murrieta, CA and one on pilgrimage with no current home!:) We are 6 in number and bound together with a thirst for His Word and the beauty of internet! Our ONE WORD description finds us, Blessed, Seeking, Progressing, Shifting…. Our goals comprise Bearing good fruit, Feeling God’s steadying hand and His soothing quiet in our head and heart during this study to seeking guidance and direction and clarity. Daughters of the King who are married, divorced, and widowed, connected by two sisters who God has been gracious to. Discussion from one of our members: “Doing what is right in my own eyes leads me away from the Source. Staying close to the Source of sustenance insures that, even in difficult times, I will flourish and continue to produce fruit in my life. Moving away from the Source leaves me prey to the circumstances of “drought and heat,” causing me to wither and dry up.” We are excited to see what God will do over the course of this study and blessed to be joining the thousands of others doing the same.

    Madge says:

We are a group of 8 women ranging from 20’s to 50’s meeting in Marietta, GA in my home. Six of us are from our neighborhood. We had a great get to know you session with a chicken enchilada dinner.

Words used to describe seasons ranged from hopeful, to stable, to changing to trudging and others such as up and down and busy, but grateful.

I’m so thankful for this group – I’d done the last two summers solo, so hoped to make a change this time. Yay. Hopefully I can secretly get their shoe sizes and buy flipflops for everyone. Last night they got pots with flower seeds and scripture cards. My bad – I forgot to take a photo. ugh. next time….love ya siesta mama and fam.

    Beth T. says:

I’m facilitating a group of 5 lovely ladies in Madison, Ohio (near Cleveland). Our ages range from 42 – 60 and are in all walks and stages of life. One friend is new to the church, another just retired, another going through a dissolution and I’m a mother of a four year old. We are really looking forward to diving into the word over the summer and hearing from the Lord!

  16. 916
    Amy says:

Covington, WA; 3 of us; we are all stay at home moms with 2 year olds. We talked mostly about our need to stay in the word and that it is hard for us to do without being involved in a study. We are all a part of the same couples small group so we know each other pretty well.

  17. 917
    Lisa Shuler says:

My mom is now joining me for the study, from Williamsport, PA,she is 62, has been a Hair stylist for more than 40 years has 2 grown children, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter on the way! She is also a breast cancer survivor. One word for her would be TIRED!
Getting what we want, she knows also that it spells trouble.

    abbensmom says:

Solo participant from Knoxville, TN. 43, married with two kids.

One word: “returning” from Moab back to Judah

One goal: to sharpen my hearing, discerning of the Holy Spirit as He leads me through life and Life.

I’ve finished days one and two so far, and never in my life imagined I had so much in common with Elimelech and Naomi. It’s amazing how I find myself so aptly described in some of the most remote and neglected (studywise) placed in my Bible.

  19. 919

    Clemmons,NC Solo, Married/30’s
I am going solo this summer due to heavy coursework in college; I can watch the video at any random time, even 2am! 🙂 I am back in school trying to finish and get my degree. A couple of baby girls(now 11 and 9)prevented me from finishing! But I wouldn’t have had it any other way! 🙂 They are my little blessings!
I would describe my life right now as arduous, but I know that all of the hard work will pay off in the end!
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” Colossians 3:23

    Rebecca says:

Elizabethtown PA, 1 participant, at home at the computer.

I’m a stay-at-home/homeschooling mom of 3 (ages 4,6,&7). This summer, God has called me to focus on my baggage and my relationship with Him. So one word that describes me right now is: Unhealthy

My goal is to be in His word and seek His healing (emotional, physical, and spiritual)

Jeremiah 17:14 could be my verse for the season

  22. 922
    Betsy says:

I will be doing this study with my daughter – with discussions by email and phone since we live about 3 hours apart, she in Dallas, I in Carthage, TX.
My season is “anticipating”. I am expecting our first grandchild (same daughter) in less than two weeks!!!
I am doing this study to deepen my relationship with Jesus and continue to learn more about His character. I love how each study reveals Him more intimately in new and exciting ways.

  23. 923

    Hey Mrs. Beth,
I know that it is Thursday and you guys have already started. I am hosting a group tonight at 6:30. Tuesday night is visitation at my church, so Thursdays were better for us. I have invited every woman at my church a few close friends outside of my home church. Please pray for me as I open my home to whoever chooses to come. I pray that nothing will stand in the way of women showing up to study God’s Word. I will come back on tonight after the meeting and give an update according to your directions.
    Thank you for your prayers,
    Mary H.(a.k.a. ThirtysomethingMom)

I am married, in late thrities hosting the group in Ardmore, AL(we live on the Tennessee/Alabama stateline and two women live on the Tennessee side!). Had three other women come tonight and one that couldn’t come but participated via email. All in different phases of their lives. Our one word descriptions: endurance, full, emotional, busy, convicted.

  24. 924
    Carol says:

Solo, Roswell Georgia. Taking another study at church, so this is a bonus.

Word: scattered. Much good in this season but a whirling dervish of activity and direction. I anticipate the Ruth study will renew and remind me of what is really important and what is not and faithfully respond accordingly.

  25. 925
    Vicki says:

Loudonville, OH. We’re having a small “family” group: me, my sister, daughter and daughter-in-law. At every stage of life…empty nest, have a teenager, 2 young-uns @ home, and just startin’ with a 2-month old. We are: hectic, overwhelmed, seeking and distracted…looking for peace, strength, direction and focus. Had a great first discussion last night (but trying to remember all the details ’cause I left my notebook at home!). Oh the chaos when everyone does as s/he sees fit! We discussed Jeremiah’s images of one who trusts in the Lord and the warnings about deceitful hearts and becoming spiritually bankrupt (fool), and the necessity of standards, and rules and order – physically, socially and spiritually.

But it transitioned into a discussion about the responsibility each of us has to *not* become someone who does her own thing – things like prayer (listening, not just talking!), bible study :-), and staying in the Word – and how the *relationship* we have with God helps us know Him – which helps us understand His heart – which helps us welcome His standards – which help us hear and discern His will – which brings us closer to Him…which starts the cycle all over again. We are so grateful the Bible, isn’t a read-it-once-then-give-it-to-Goodwill novel, but a God-breathed-still-living organism which offers a new insight every single time we pick it up. (I’m so sorry my ‘one good paragraph’ multiplied. It was just such a great start!)

  26. 926
    Terry says:

Terry, solo from Washington, IL I am a 51 years old and have been very happily married for 30 years. We have two married children and two adorable granddaughters. I work as church secretary and facilitate the women’s ministry at our church.

My one word for right now would have to be “weary”. Facing several significant health related issues and a long-term, very difficult work related issue.

My goal for this study is to be refreshed and encouraged by getting to know Ruth, my God and my siesta’s a little better.

I know better, but have been trying to fix things my own way (Judges 21:25). When I read the passage from Jeremiah 17 it literally took my breath away…how directly it spoke to my specific need. My prayer for this study will be vs. 14 “Heal me, O LORD and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the one I praise.” Amen.

  27. 927
    Lois C says:

    Wausa, NE
I am doing the study alone. My season right now is”Hungry”. I want more of Him and to know him better is my goal. I need a closer relationship with Him. Life gets so busy that it is easy to crowd Him out but I want to learn to make more time for Hm

  28. 928
    Northern Lights says:

    Just two of us
Our words were frustrated and lonely… talked too much and didn’t really get time for the goals! But one of the major topics of discussion was the longing for real community we both have.

    Charlotte says:

Couldn’t get my comments in until now. I’m solo in Plainview, TX, married with my first grandbaby on the way any time now. My word for this season is “waiting”! Thanks for having this Bible study on-line – it’s my first Siesta but have done many Beth Moore studies. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for my life!

    Houston Texas
5 single gals in our late 20’s-early 30’s. We are excited to go through the Ruth study–and the interesting thing is that for a few of us–God has brought the story of Ruth into our lives consistently over the last year. So, our hearts are ready to hear from the Lord and what He will reveal though the word!

One word to describe this season of life: probably 3! hopeful, expectant, and desiring. We are all in a place of entrusting ourselves completely to the Lord and laying the desires of our hearts on His altar and asking Jesus to be the lover of our souls in our singleness. We would love for Him to be our Boaz and bring along a man of God like Boaz too 🙂

  31. 931
    Kate Hawk says:

Yeah!!!! We made it! 9 of us in Charlottesville, Virginia~

Our group meets on Thursday mornings in a local park. I wish Tuesday would’ve worked for us but our small little church has small groups on Monday and Tuesdays and we also have a softball team that plays on Wednesdays. Thursday was the soonest we could meet, but we were with you in prayer and in the Spirit!

Our group is very dynamic in that there is no one woman in the “same place” in life! Our basic goal for summer Bible study is to simply be in fellowship and time in the Word for maturity, and deepening in our relationship with our Father. One of our sister’s has just recently lost a very dear friend through a tragic accident. Needless to say, she is seeking healing and peace. She is new to our group, so we are all so excited to love on her!

    SOOO Excited!!!!!

    Blessings Siestas!!!!

    Donna says:

We are four women meeting in Kirkland,Wa , half are single,50’s and 60’s, some newre to faith than others, all from same LARGE church in Seattle, who know each other from previous Bible study. Last night two of us described our season as “anxious”. One felt “confusion”. We are in this to stay close to Jesus and be in His word and supporting each other.

  34. 934
    Kristi Blankenship says:

16 Beloved women ~ Stoughton, WI

We have a wide range of ages meeting. All except one of us are married, with children. One of us is going through a painful divorce. Our group has “empty nesters”, to preschool age children.

A common thread within the group was a yearning for closeness with God, after being away from Him for awhile. We all crave fellowship and a structured time of studying God’s Word in our life.

The words that describe our group are Transition, Lazy, Frustrated, Comfortable, Too Comfortable, Chaos, Sinking, Busy, Rollercoaster, Exploratory, Stressful, Turmoilish, Settled, and Distant. All of these words can express each other’s lives at one time or another.

We are looking forward to what we will glean from God’s Word this summer!

  35. 935
    Lahna says:

Our group of 5 is in Waurika, Ok. I live 35 minutes away in TX. My husband accepted the pastorate of a teeny church on Sunday. I talked to them last night about doing this study. Only one other lady has seen you. Boy, are we all in for an adventure!!
Our group ranges from 50’s-60’s. I am overwhelmed with the responsibility of being a pastor’s wife. Never did this before. We only had about 20 minutes last night to talk about this and their expectations for me. My goal is for this study to be the beginning of a deeper walk for all of us.
Pray for us and me. I do not have a clue about what I am doing, but I am willing.

My goal this summer is to be in Gods word. We bought a resort 5 years ago and my summers have lacked scripture/church time due to crazy busy!
Struggling to lump this season into one word with my childrens help of naming my season: Syd 14 says BUSY, Reed 12 say cranky, Rob husband 45 say seasonal (dry Humor)My take: Gratfulsadfunhungurytired I am sure this is one word in some language. Maybe Mellisa can research it for me 🙂

Franklin, TN I’m Debra. We had our first meeting at Chuy’s and will meet at Panera Bread for all other meetings. There are 5 women in our group. 4 married, 1 single. 4 in their 30’s. I just turned 40. 3 full-time SAHMs (prior nurses and teacher), 1 part-time SAHM/CPA and 1 teacher. I organized this group b/c I’m hungry for relationship and for God’s word. Our words this session were: overwhelmed, tense, crazy, challenging. We talked about how out of control life is when there is no King. How we are self indulgent and self centered and focused on immediate pleasure which leads to sin and separation. We are all in different places yet are all hungry for the same thing: God’s healing, grace and peace to reign in our lives and our homes. We are so excited to be participating in our first summer Siesta bible study and looking forward to what Ruth will teach us.

I am doing the study solo, thus far. Trying to get some peeps on board! 🙂 I’m a 35 year old Wife and Mother to two boys. I live in Monroe, Michigan. I am laid up had flat foot reconstruction done and recovering from the second surgery. I now have arches! How cool is that? My season word would be “Spring.” I have been in the cold winter for two years in every area of my life and I can now feel the cold chill leaving, hear the birds chirping, and can see the new and feel healing the Lord is bringing my way from my brokenness. My goal for this study is to let the Lord continue to heal me, memorize new scriptures, and to weep forward. 🙂

Overwhelmed is the word that describes my life. Im the mom of 3 girls. Four, three, and one month. The Lord is teaching me so much and I have to rely on his strength. I can so relate with having a time of trial and blessing because my kids are both. Praise you Father. I want to remain strong in You in these physically and emotionally demanding times.

    Kelli says:

Beirut, Lebanon; Kelli, mother of 3 girls, married 15 years, doing the study solo. Would have loved to connect with an online community but know it’s probably complicated since I’m 8 hours ahead of everyone and not getting the book until my mom comes in July… Do have a fellow siesta nearby but she’s spending most of the summer in the US.

My word is rejuvenated. I’ve just come through a pretty difficult few years as far as being content with where God has me. It’s been a very refining time but I praise Him because I finally feel like I’ve come out the other side better than when I started, for sure. He has been so faithful in spite of my selfishness.

My goal is to continue to deepen my time in the Word and in prayer and to model for my girls what this should really look like.

From the Word, what jumped out at me today is from the Jeremiah passage. In the second part of verse 8 where it says, “It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” As a control freak female, I need the reminder that I don’t need to try constantly to snatch the reins of my life out of the hands of the Father just because the ride is getting a little bumpy and I think I can do things better. Even when I am going through a drought, it blesses my soul to be reminded that I don’t have to worry because I am planted by the Source, right where I need to be.

Praying for all you Siestas! So excited about this study!

    Cindy says:

Two of us (Kim & Cindy) met Tuesday afternoon at a Starbucks in Laguna Niguel, CA where we’ve met for the last two Summer Siesta studies. We shared our goals & our seasons. We read and discussed the two scripture sections which led to discussion of God’s will vs. ours. This led to much discussion of prayer, specifically intercessory prayer (our Pastor preached on it last weekend). Coincidence? We think not!! 🙂

5 ladies this time, but we are expecting a couple more next time. Chelsea, MI. We meet on Wednesday night. We have ladies in their 20’s, 30’s 40’s and 50’s. Great first meeting everyone got open and honest right away! Could not have been better, except a tornado warning siren going off right as we finished our closing prayer! We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in the coming weeks! He is GOOD!
