Siesta Summer Bible Study 3 Launch

Hey, Siestas! It’s time for summer Bible study! For the sake of rich fellowship and vital accountability, we hope as many of you as possible are meeting with small groups and on every other Tuesday or as close to Tuesdays as possible. You are absolutely welcome to join us solo but try to stay as involved as possible in the discussions so that you’ll feel plugged in. This is what you’ll do every other Tuesday:

1. Watch the video so you’ll have your instructions for your gathering or for your solo experience. I will always put the bare bones of the instructions in writing on the post just in case there is a video malfunction.

2. (You will find these instructions reiterated in this post because it’s fundamental to the experience.) If you are in a small group, designate one person who will write a comment to this post briefly telling us about your group and your discussion. It can be a different person each week or the same. START THE COMMENT WITH THE CITY, THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AND LOCATION THEN DESCRIBE YOUR GROUP AND ADD SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR DISCUSSION. For instance, I am meeting with my Monday staff members so my comment will begin with:

Houston, Texas; 8 of us; Meeting at Living Proof Ministries. Our group is primarily made up of…The main part of our discussion was about…(And so forth).

3. If you are going solo, your comment will become the way you complete the assignments. In other words, you’ll see that I ask you to describe this season of your life in one word. In your comment, tell us what that one word would be.

Make the length of it one good, descriptive paragraph. Try not to write too much or readers will tend to skip over it.

This clip is to give instructions for your first gathering – the one you are hopefully having today or in next 24 hours. You can watch this together or your leader can watch it and pass on your instructions.

Summer Bible Study – Week 1 from LPV on Vimeo.

I so hope that makes sense! Now, here are the written instructions for your gathering just in case you can’t get the video to work. Welcome aboard! May God take us on a journey that we’ll treasure for many years. Let’s find the Ruth in us, Siestas!

Today in your small group, here’s what I am asking you to do:

1. If you don’t know each other, spend a few minutes finding out some basic biographical information about one another.  (Single, married, still in school, or in a career. Children, no children. The regular stuff. Keep in mind that everybody fits in Bible study. You don’t need to all be alike. In fact, the more alike you all are, the less you may sharpen one another.)

2. Each of you in your small group characterize your life in this present season in ONE WORD.  Have the leader record these.

3. Each of you in your small group share one specific goal you have this summer for being in Bible study. Have the leader record these, too.

4. Look at the very last verse of the Book of Judges (Judges 21:25) because of its placement just prior to the book we’ll study together this summer. Discuss several specific reasons why doing what each of us sees fit at any given time could be dangerous. After several minutes of discussion, read Jeremiah 17:7-14 and talk about how this segment relates or contrasts to Judges 21:25.

Leader: this is very important. You get back on within 24 hours of meeting and write a brief summation of your group time as a comment to this post. Tell us how many came, your city, and something about your group or your group discussion.

*UPDATE*
Here’s a link to the first chapter of Ruth in case you don’t have your workbook yet.

Blue Ridge, Georgia, going solo, because we just moved here last week! Hubby is retired, kids are grown (and we now live closer to them!), and I work from home. I’ll be going back to college in August (at age 47), so this season of my life must be classified as SEEKING.

My goal for summer Bible study is stay buried in the Word –the more I study, the thirstier and hungrier I get for more.

The last verse of Judges saddened me – seems the present world is in the same place right now. The verses in Jeremiah gave me hope and encouragement – God is our hope. He can pick up the pieces. He is our praise.

    Rebecca says:

Abilene, Kansas. I am doing this semi-solo. There are two other ladies from my town who are also doing the study – we have done bible studies together before, but because of schedules, we are not regularly meeting. We hope to get together 2-3 times over the course of the study (with coffee I’m sure!) to discuss. My season: hectic.

    Susan says:

I am going solo in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Married 23 years with 4 children. Married to a pastor and also a pastor but not actively doing ministry now. Working at a fabric store.

    Healing

To provide the discipline of daily time with God and deepen my understanding of God.

Acting as we see fit often leads to impulsive words or actions. Reflection and considering what God would have us do allows us to pull back in the situation and take a broader look, usually resulting in a more constructive or healthier outcome.

    Wendy says:

Group of 18, Newmarket, ON Canada, meeting in my home. I only expected 6-8 ladies, but am overjoyed to have 18. We divided oursevles into 2 groups of 9. Each group has a wide range of ages from early 30’s to early 60’s with variouse backgrounds. Some of us are raising young children, some are divorced, widowed, singled, grandmothers, such a rich background of life experiences. Some of the words that came forward were tired, hectic, expecting, waiting, loner, serving. There were many reasons why the women were in this Bible Study. Some love being with women and wanted to get to know some new friends. Other’s needed the accountability of Bible Study. As we studied the scripture last night, we discussed that doing your own thing can cause confusion. Women are emotional beings and what is right to us can change at a moment’s notice. We don’t have a moral compass to guide our decisions and actions and insecurity can develop. Those who trust in the King of Kings have stablility and security. Our moral compass needs to come from the Word of God.
My heart was filled to overflowing last night as I listened to women laughing, loving and praying with one another. There is a sense of expectancy among all of us and I know relationships with one another and with the Lord have been kindled/re-kindled.

    Heather says:

Grand Rapids, Mi – There are three of us.

We had a great discussion last night about passages in Judges and Jeremiah. Our three words for this season of life were: Exhaustion, Relaxation, and Busy We are looking forward to digging into the study and learning about Ruth and how we can apply it to our lives.

    Amy S. says:

I’m from Hilliard, Ohio [outside of Columbus] and I’m going solo since I’ll be on vacation for a couple of weeks during the study. I’m married to an incredible husband and have 2 active boys, 11 and 9. My word would be “busy” as both boys play travel soccer and we seem to always be going somewhere. But, it’s a good and fun busy. I’m blessed to be able to stay at home ever since my youngest was born. We lost my 19 yr. old nephew to cancer a year ago and my father-in-law suddenly to a heart attack in Feb. So, our family has been rocked. But, our Foundation is secure because God is the only way we could endure. I’m looking forward to this summer study.

  7. 507
    Jennifer says:

Flying solo in Carrollton, TX. I am desperately in need of some “girl time”. I am married to a great manly man and have 3 very rambunctious boys aged 12,8 &4. I had myself a good “ugly cry” this week over my one word phrase – drained. I told my sympathetic but very clueless husband that as a wife, mom, and nurse I give all of myself away to everyone else then have nothing left for me. This will be my me-time until I get back to face to face Bible study in the fall. (Cant wait to get into Revelations w/ you, Beth! Come, Lord Jesus!)

    Amy Halverson says:

I’m from Oklahoma City and we have a group of 8 of us that will be doing this study. We are all close friends and have studied the Bible together before. We try to meet regularly to encourage each other and learn ways to be better wives and moms. The main part of our discussion last night was that we are all looking to stay in the Word this summer and are excited about this study. We are praying that this study will help us grow in our spiritual walk with the Lord.

    Barbara says:

    Bedford, TX
My plan was to do this study solo. Now that I have started it I am going to contact a friend ot two and see if they would like to join me! This is my first Beth Moore study and I can tell from this beginning that it will be a richer experience if I can share it.

One word to describe this season of my life: Unsettled

My goal for being in this study is to grow in my trust in the Lord…not head and intellectual trust…full court, complete HEART trust!

Barbara, Jennifer (just two comments above you) lives in Carrollton and might want to join up! Y’all may be able to meet halfway in Las Colinas or something? Just thought I’d let you know in case you hadn’t seen it 🙂

    Sharen says:

Doing this Bible Study solo in Flowery Branch,GA
One word description of my life right now: searching
Goal: This is my favorite book of the Bible because of Ruth’s giving attitude and her loyalty. My goal is to learn as much as I can about her other attributes and why God thought it was important for us to know her life story.
Judges/Jeremiah: Doing as people see fit is a recipe for anarchy and Jeremiah helps to support this because when he says the heart is deceitful. People use their hearts to steer with. However, we are all different and see things differently and need something consistent to go by. Therefore, without someone over everything there is no consistency in how things are done.

    Tiffany says:

Woo Hoo! So excited for this series. Our girls met up last night at a starbucks. There are a total of 4 of us hailing from the beautiful city of Anaheim, California. One word I used to describe this season of my life is GOING! Having 2 babies under the age of 4, a husband in ministry, and serving and learning…I feel as if God is moving me constantly in my heart and in my life. I am never still it seems..just constantly going. I am really excited for this study, because I get to slow down and create some meaningful friendships with girls I am starting to love. This is something I have been missing for the last 4 years.

So excited girls! We are ready to dive in!

  12. 512
    Rebekah says:

This is a first time for all of us and we are so very excited! There were 8 women (5 in their mid 20’s, 2 in their 30’s, 1 in their 60’s) that met in my living room outside of Fulton, MS last night! 5 married, 1 divorced, 1 engaged and 1 singleton and 3 of them have at least 1 child.

Our one words were happy, broken, blessed, overwhelmed (the engaged one!), ready, longing, amazed, and rejoicing. It seems a lot of us had loving like God/loving people better as a goal. There were also 2 who wanted God to strengthen and deepen their faith/reliance on Him as their everything, one wants to stop worrying/learn the Bible better, one wants to grow in wisdom in learning how to balance parenthood/work/church and one wants to move past a terrible time in her life by growing closer to God/getting back in church.

Our discussion was mostly spent getting to know each other a little better but regarding the Scriptures we all agreed that when left to do what’s right in our own eyes things do not turn out well (basically to compare it to a tree, our fruit eventually shrivels up and dies and we have ugly brown leaves). The verses in Jeremiah tell us that we’re wicked and we don’t know our hearts because they’re deceitful! Even our good decisions may not be God’s decisions. If we trust in the Lord and make him King of our lives we’ll be like the deeply-rooted tree, with the green leaves and pretty fruit. Someone also brought up the similarities between the Jeremiah 17 scripture as compared to Psalm 1.

We decided we all want to be pretty trees 🙂

Again, we are SO excited after last night and know that God is going to move in our lives in ways some of us have never seen! Thanks for having us go along with y’all!

Rebekah, funny I also noticed the similarity between the Jeremiah verses and Psalm 1! Thanks for commenting on my post. This Siesta Blog community is a wonderful blessing.

Praying that God will meet each ones needs during this time in his Word!

Going it alone in Jenison MI. I am 34 until Friday. I have been married for 13 years and am a stay at home mother of two daughters age 12 and 8. The one word that describes where I am right now would have to be Anxious. I am so anxious to get to know the word of god, and to go through this study with all the ladies here in siestaville. I will leave it at that, there is just so much for me to look forward to at this point in my life. My life changed on May 22nd of this year, I made the decision to let Jesus into my life. I made some bad financial decisions that was ultimately tearing apart my marriage and family. That is where free will got the best of me. This my first siesta summer study and only my third comment. Thank you siesta Mama for visiting Grand Rapids and helping me to join the family of God!!

    Heidi Tracht says:

I am going solo because my life is characterized by CHANGE. We are moving from Mount Vernon, Ohio to Nampa, Idaho in mere hours. I’ve already completed the study, and LOVED it! I look forward to sharing the experience with Siestaville.

    Bowling Green, KY

We had a group of 6 last night at my house. Some of us know each other, some just meeting for the first time. A study like this is a first for all of us. We spent the first half of our time together sharing about ourselves and getting to know each other a little better. Our group ranges from early 20s to early 30s, some married and some not, some with kids and some without. In describing our “season of life” our words ranged from busy to confused to growing to transitioning. We are all looking forward to spending the summer together in the Word of God and are excited about what lies ahead.

  16. 516
    Hannah R says:

    – Oklahoma City & Norman, Oklahoma

    – There are 3 of us

    – We are meeting via email as we work through the study from different locations. We are in constant communication, but we are unable to meet consistently.

    – Our group is made up of a mother and two daughters

    – Words that describe this season in our lives? Unsettled; Full; Content

    – Goals that we have for this summer’s Bible study? Learn more about God and myself; Stay focused on the truth; To continue to develop my relationship with my God and Savior

We’re ready to take this Bible Study on!!!!

  17. 517
    Jane says:

We have a group of 14 ladies (only 9 made it to the first meeting) located in Houston, TX. We are a wide variety of ages, some with children and some with grandchildren, both full-time employees and stay-at-home moms. We had a wonderful fellowship with a yummy tres leches dessert. We spent most of our time discussing the role of women in these present times and the confusion most of us have with how we fit in. Some of our descriptive words were confused, frenzied, change, reinvent, dry, contentment and joyful – which were then supported by the goals for this Bible Study. Overall, we trust that the Lord will guide us in these confusing times and show us a clearer path for the future.

  18. 518
    Holly says:

We are the FABULOUS FRALEYS and we’ll be meeting by mass email to discuss Ruth together. There are 8 of us! We just got back to our respective homes (Washington, Montana, South Dakota, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas) from a family reunion, and the idea to do this study together was birthed when we were together.
We range from age 70 to 20 and play the rolls of grandmother’s, aunt’s, great aunts, cousins, first cousin’s once removed…you get the picture. But we all love, love, love each other, and can’t wait to be united more in spirit just as we are in family flesh! Thank you for this opportunity and idea(!), what a treat to grow closer to Jesus and find ourselves and each other deeper in Him.

I posted this last night but still don’t see it anywhere so I may have accidentally deleted it! Our group is made up of just two. We’re a mother-in-law & daughter-in-law combo in Monroe, Ga. Last night I had said we were like Ruth & Naomi but after reading the Introduction page in our workbook I take it back! We would be found baking cookies together-what a blessing.

We had such a sweet discussion together last night free from spouses, children, and grandchildren. (Not that they’re not blessings either, mind you.) 🙂 We’re looking forward to a summer steeped in intimacy with each other & the Lord. Looking forward to learning with ya!

    Dear Beth,
I am going solo on this bible study unless someone else in the Boise, Idaho area is signed up!
    One Word: Confused
Too many changes happening in my life at one time right now!
Doing it “my own way” is not an option! I loved Jeremiah 17: 14 “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise!”

    Amen to that!
    God Blessings to all

Milford, Ohio; 9 of us; Meeting at Trinity United Methodist Church. We have an existing Tuesday Morning Bible Study (TMBS). Our group is made up of 20s, 30s, 40s & 50s. All mothers from a 1st time mother w/ an infant to a mother w/ 3 adult sons. Our lives are all busy w/ 1 thing or another and we are trying to keep God 1st. We just finished a short study on prayer after reading ‘So Long Insecurity’.

We are looking for more breakfast foods to try during this study.

    Gail says:

Ellensburg,WA, solo so far. I am 37, married 15 years, have 3 daughters. One word: hamster. I feel like the hamster in the spinning wheel, scrambling hard and fast and getting nowhere! My goal: to feel the transformation that God is doing in me by the continual renewing of my mind! To make this not just another lesson, but another stepping stone taking me higher, molding me into what God created me for!
Blessings, all! Would welcome a study partner.

    Natalie says:

Spring, TX; 10 gals; my home; 3 of us in our late 40’s and 50’s and 7 in thier 20’s (my daughters and thier friends), discussion was good and I was thankful for Beth’s directions and questions to get us started. Everyone in the group knows someone, but we didn’t all know each other.

I didn’t know about Kelli’s recipes in the book but I also believe in the power of food to help people feel comfortable with each other 🙂 We started with dinner and I knew things were going to be ok when I heard everyone talking and laughing! Making S’mores over the gas cooktop was a great way for us to have a little gooey, chocolate fun before starting the video!

Here’s little snippets of our goals for doing the Summer Bible Study:
-continue with a group of woman in Bible Study,
-not let go of the momentum go from going to Houston “David” study
-to be thirsty for the Word again, to not take a vacation from God just because it’s summer vacation from college,
-to satisfy a thirst for God’s Word and that’s something new,
-curious about Ruth and what God was trying to teach in the book,
-specifically interested in studying Ruth and her relationship with her mother-in-law and how it relates to my life and my own mother-in-law,
-an answer to prayer in the past few months to bind scripture to my heart so that I can be a good Young Life leader and share God’s truths with students,
-had not been in a Bible study in decades and wanted to give it a try,
-want to communicate with God better and learn to listen to Him!

    Dee Dee Wike says:

    Collierville, TN — solo

My season in one word — Preparation

Goal — To know God more and to receive His direction for my ministry

Intro Lesson Thoughts — Life doesn’t work apart from God. Our way is the path to self-destruction; God’s way is the path to adventure, fulfillment, and peace. I know this from personal experience — doing as I see fit makes me fit for NOTHING! Doing as God sees fit makes me a vessel He can use for His glory.

P.S. Beth, thanks for the chance to do a Bible study online. My schedule is so crazy this summer that I was not able to make it into a study at my church and I was STARVING! Praying for you as we break BREAD together :-).

    Meggie says:

Winnipeg, MB, Canada, solo, single mother of 3 girls
Present season: waiting (to recover from sickness, to see what God has in store for me for the near future)
Goal: to say in God’s Word!
I’m on the leadership team for Women’s Bible studies in our church, and we’re just finishing “Me, Myself & Lies”, last summer’s online Bible study. Our church group has really enjoyed Jennifer’s study. Last summer we did “No Other Gods” in our church during the summer, which was the summer online study 2 yrs ago. Dear Beth, thank you so much for this opportunity to get to know different Bible studies. God has spoken through each study to me and all the other women who did them. It’s been really neat to see how God is moving in the lives of women all around me. Praise His Holy Name!!!

Hi,I’m from northeastern North Dakota. I am also going solo. I’m 38 and have been married for 17 years and have 3 boys (ages 14-9). I started home schooling this past year with my 2 younger boys and my oldest(born with Down Synbrome)goes to public school to a life resource room.

    One word: Seeking

Goal: Open my bible and hear His word.

    Diana in Indy says:

Indpls, IN 9 ladies meeting in group member’s home. Our group came together through a sign-up at our church and we are all about the same age group (give or take 10 years!) God has brought us together for a reason! We actually began our study last Sunday before the video from Beth. Since Ruth traveled a great distance from her home, we shared where we were all from, how we got to the Indy area, then how we got to our church family and then how/why we were part of this study group. The stories were varied, some dramatic, some simple. We are looking forward to see where God will take us on this journey together.

Just two of us…we are Marilyn from Falkner, MS, and Evelyn from Guyton, GA. As BFF since Junior High, we live many miles away but have wanted so long to do a Bible study together. This is it!

Our one word to describe this season of our lives: M- “Struggling” and E-“Discouraged”

Our goals: E-“to receive whatever God has for me”
M-“to learn to know how to live a more fearless life!”

Judges/Jeremiah thoughts–I once heard a preacher tell someone to “follow their heart” but when we do that we so run the risk of “doing what is right in our own eyes” and making a mess of everything! We should remember that the heart is decietful and wicked…who can know it? Only God!

We are so excited to be doing this Bible study with this group this summer! My prayer is that God will bless each and every one of us as we study His Word together!

    Blessings!

    Marilyn…in Mississippi

    Hello Seistas!
    1. Doing the study solo from Roswell, GA (suburb north of Atlanta). I am a wife and a stay at home mom to two boys (6 and 4).

    2. My current season – overwhelmed/frustrated.

    3. My goal is to learn more about who God is, who He says He is, who He says I am, and what can He do.

    4. To do as I see fit is to do what my heart desires and my heart is deceitful. But if I put my desires aside and trust in God, there will be nothing that can uproot me or scare me. I will be blessed. Following my desires will bring heartache (how ironic). Eventually, God will leave me to my selfish ways with consequences…I will sow what I reap.

I am excited to see what God is going to do through studying his Word!!!

Six of us from Staunton, VA, in the Shenandoah Valley met in my family room last night while various children ran in and out of the room. Singles and marrieds; no kids/young kids/young adults/grown kids; ages ranging from 20’s to 50’s. We have two to three other women who may join us later. The words we came up with to describe ourselves are hopeful, busy, stressed, covered, unproductive, and draining. It is lovely to see how we’ve been brought together to minister to each other in our various stages of life. He knows us well, doesn’t He? Most of us shared needing accountability, needing to get “addicted” to daily time in the Word again. This summer seems to offer a perfect opportunity for us to stop, listen, and surrender.

  33. 533
    Anne says:

I wasn’t going to post because I was feeling badly about going solo. But then I see another “Anne”, with an “e”, who is solo and you all lifted her up. And so I’m reading my own name in all the beautiful encouraging comments. God is so good.

I am solo. Middle 40s, just got a temporary part time fill-in job. DH, 3 kids. Want desperately to get out of this ditch. My word for this summer so far is Undisciplined. (not pretty, but its my word.)

My goal: discipline. I want out of this ditch no matter what it takes.

    Lisa KA says:

Rural northeast Woodstock, CT; first-time participants; 7 women met in my home; ages 35-45 plus one young first-time mom and her sweet 3-week-old baby boy (joyfully held by all).

We came for much-needed fellowship and to make ourselves stay in the Word so we can grow. We discussed going our own way; how it’s easier to do it ourselves than to rely on God but we’re not even truthful with ourselves about our own hearts and motives – we need God’s help. What makes me happy in the moment is not always good for me or those around me.

I read aloud the introduction to the book of Ruth from “The Message” – highly recommend it!

    Becky says:

This is my first comment since the blog format change. I am definitely one of those people who is resistant to change in any way!

I am from Chattanooga, TN….going solo this time…42 years old….married….one 12 year old son.

My word is UNCERTAINTY. My role as a mom is changing from mothering a child to mothering a teen, my job role is changing, my parents and in-laws are aging so my role there is going to be changing. Did I mention that I hate change?! Hmmm…there seems to be a theme here.

I didn’t intend to do this study until yesterday, but I want to remain in the Word because I know the danger of not doing so. This study will help me to do that.

As far as contrasting Judges 21:25 and Jeremiah 17:7-14, I just know that if I live my life based on how I see fit at the time, I will make decisions based purely on emotions and selfishness. Those emotions are deceptive and are rarely based in truth. Living in subjection to the Truth and not my own emotions is a much more solid way to live.

Just found this Bible Study this morning, someone posted it on their Facebook page, I am so looking forward to doing it. I am doing this solo, live in MI, married, mother of 3 young adults, I love quilting & home embroidery, after studying the WORD. My one word is – transition. My desire is to continue to grow in my walk with the LORD.
As for Judges the world would be much chaos, just as is is now only much worse. but in contrast Jeremiah is one whose eyes are on the Lord and desire is to grow closer to Him. “For YOU are my praise”

So that’s why I’m in the Word constantly and no stopping for a break as I always have decisions to make and want to make sure I make the right decisions and that I line up with God’s will for my life…I need WISDOM!!

With that said, leads us to the last verse of the Book of Judges…”everyone did as he saw fit.” Doing our own thing without consulting God and His will for our lives will only set us up for failure with lots of regrets over bad decisions, terrible mistakes which ultimately leads to regret. I know, because I’ve been there!! It’s such a hard lesson to learn, but thanks to Jesus, we have a redeemer to cling to and we don’t have to live in a pit of regret! Life is not easy and can get very bumpy sometimes and staying in God’s Word year round helps to smooth the bumps as He picks me up and carries me through…Praise Him!!

Our group is from Camdenton,MO. We had 5 ladies (3 of which were at Deeper Still in Oklahoma City) meet on Tues. evening. Discussions were good. Everyone wants to grow and draw closer to God. Not everyone knew each other but after our first meeting, I believe we compliment each other well.

We are looking forward to our meetings and we are going to try using the recipes each meeting.

We are also participating in another discussion blog with another small group and some individuals who live too far away to come to small group. We look forward to discussing daily with each other on the blog.

I am from Tuttle, Oklahoma and I have been joined by my mom-in-law, Lynda and a great friend, Heather from Mustang, Oklahoma.
    Our words:
    me: growing
    Lynda: content
    Heather: uphill (journey)
    Our goals:
me: finding a new perspective on an old story while growing closer to God
    Lynda: be closer to God
Heather: deepening my walk with Christ and with ‘sisters’
We will be meeting together each week and having meals together. Last night we went ahead and made the ice cream sundaes! Can I just say, we sat around until 9:30 eating whipped cream and almonds! It was so good!!!

Ellensburg, WA, solo so far. I am 37, married 15 years, 3 daughters, and so excited to do this study, even if it is solo. I just like the accountability of an appointment with a blog! It keeps me scheduled. But group discussion is so much more well rounded. I work part time and help with my husband’s business also. My one word: hamster.

That’s definitely one of the most interesting one word descriptions I’ve seen! I pray God shows you how to stop spinning your wheels and just run free with Him 🙂

    1. Mother and Daughter meeting together over phone/email/webcam!
Fort Collins, CO and Oklahoma City, OK
    Age- 20s and 40s
    2nd Siesta Summer Bible Study!!!

    2. Mom- Searching for direction / Floundering
    Daughter- Exploring / Developing

    3.Goals:
Mom- When the Lord speaks through this study that I can respond with obedience.
Daughter- Embrace the commitment of the study and do it every day throughout the summer.

    4. Judges 21:25 embraces relativism. There is no objective truth when everyone is doing as they please, and all action is subjective to opinion. When this happens, we step off the path of what God intends for our lives. Chaos results when there is no regard for other people or for the Lord.
Jeremiah instead, commands a standard- God’s standard. Verses 9 and 10 point to the heart being deceitful and therefore unreliable to make subjective decisions. We cannot be like a tree in water or bear fruit if we are acting according to our own will.

Lebanon, MO. There are 2 of us. I put an invitation on my Facebook and God had placed one specific person on my heart and she was the only one who responded. I know we were meant to share this study and time together! We met at my house with chicken enchiladas which were great! Had a great time of reconnecting and sharing where we are right now. My word is change: My daughter is getting married next month, we will be emptynesters and I’m selling out my business on God’s instruction. Our goal is to grow in friendship and encouraging one another to walk faithfully and grow stronger in the Spirit!
Our first Summer Bible Study with you all. Thank you!

Comin’ to you live and in person from Houston, TX….me, myself, and uh, yeah, I are meeting with the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit every morning from my lovely balcony overlooking our lake & forest. The cool of Houston mornings are wonderful!

Word: Focus…. needing to keep that alive and well and without so much distraction!
I work full-time w/a great schedule (4 days on, 3 off), & have a wonderful few weeks off from grad school to really dig in here and simply can’t live without my scripture study!
I get the whole loss, love & legacy deal right now….my hubby & I are recently relocated here and all 4 kids & 2 grandchitlin’s are spread from coast to coast! Plus, I have had 2 monthers-in-law with whom I was extremely close, so I am particularly fond of Ruth & Naomi….can’t wait to see what she has to say to me during this season!

This morning as I was thinking about the Judges scripture – “People did whatever they felt like doing” (The Message). And I had a visual that made me really chuckle…..
it’s kinda like letting all the animals loose at the zoo!
I love my inheritance, but I do not want it to separate me from others!
I love having my roots by the stream, no fear of heat, ever-green leaves (I hear a song!), no worries, and always fruitful.
    Yeah…..

    Sharoni 🙂

This is my first summer study and am doing it solo in Florence, SC. My word is Undone. So many things in my life are making me feel pulled apart and incomplete. My prayer is that this study and the other one I am doing “Breaking Free” help me find a way to put the pieces back together. I am in between jobs and I am hoping to redeem the time as well as figure out the next step. Already blessed by the first day!
