Hey, Siestas! It’s time for summer Bible study! For the sake of rich fellowship and vital accountability, we hope as many of you as possible are meeting with small groups and on every other Tuesday or as close to Tuesdays as possible. You are absolutely welcome to join us solo but try to stay as involved as possible in the discussions so that you’ll feel plugged in. This is what you’ll do every other Tuesday:
1. Watch the video so you’ll have your instructions for your gathering or for your solo experience. I will always put the bare bones of the instructions in writing on the post just in case there is a video malfunction.
2. (You will find these instructions reiterated in this post because it’s fundamental to the experience.) If you are in a small group, designate one person who will write a comment to this post briefly telling us about your group and your discussion. It can be a different person each week or the same. START THE COMMENT WITH THE CITY, THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AND LOCATION THEN DESCRIBE YOUR GROUP AND ADD SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR DISCUSSION. For instance, I am meeting with my Monday staff members so my comment will begin with:
Houston, Texas; 8 of us; Meeting at Living Proof Ministries. Our group is primarily made up of…The main part of our discussion was about…(And so forth).
3. If you are going solo, your comment will become the way you complete the assignments. In other words, you’ll see that I ask you to describe this season of your life in one word. In your comment, tell us what that one word would be.
Make the length of it one good, descriptive paragraph. Try not to write too much or readers will tend to skip over it.
This clip is to give instructions for your first gathering – the one you are hopefully having today or in next 24 hours. You can watch this together or your leader can watch it and pass on your instructions.
Summer Bible Study – Week 1 from LPV on Vimeo.
I so hope that makes sense! Now, here are the written instructions for your gathering just in case you can’t get the video to work. Welcome aboard! May God take us on a journey that we’ll treasure for many years. Let’s find the Ruth in us, Siestas!
Today in your small group, here’s what I am asking you to do:
1. If you don’t know each other, spend a few minutes finding out some basic biographical information about one another. (Single, married, still in school, or in a career. Children, no children. The regular stuff. Keep in mind that everybody fits in Bible study. You don’t need to all be alike. In fact, the more alike you all are, the less you may sharpen one another.)
2. Each of you in your small group characterize your life in this present season in ONE WORD. Have the leader record these.
3. Each of you in your small group share one specific goal you have this summer for being in Bible study. Have the leader record these, too.
4. Look at the very last verse of the Book of Judges (Judges 21:25) because of its placement just prior to the book we’ll study together this summer. Discuss several specific reasons why doing what each of us sees fit at any given time could be dangerous. After several minutes of discussion, read Jeremiah 17:7-14 and talk about how this segment relates or contrasts to Judges 21:25.
Leader: this is very important. You get back on within 24 hours of meeting and write a brief summation of your group time as a comment to this post. Tell us how many came, your city, and something about your group or your group discussion.
*UPDATE*
Here’s a link to the first chapter of Ruth in case you don’t have your workbook yet.
http://www.lifeway.com/lwc/files/lwcF_Ruth-Sample-Chapter.pdf
I finally just went and called Living Proof and we have a local Lifeway Christian Book store local and they have the book YYAAYY Sooo I am picking up my copy on Thursday and I cant WAIT!!!!!!!!
So glad you were able to find the book.
My name is Sherry. This time I will be going solo in Oklahoma.
1. I am married to a Senior Pastor. We have one married son, a darling daughter-in-law and two precious grandchildren ages 6 and 2 years. I work at the church part time and teach the young adult Sunday School class.
2. The previous sounds farely serene, but the one word that would characterize my life at the present is “juggling”.
3. My goal for this series is to discover a new insight to the God I love and serve. He has been so faithful to enlighten me with His truth through each study I do. I’m excited about what is to come!!!!
4. Judges 21:25 & Jeremiah 17:7-14: Because human nature cannot be trusted, doing as one wishes eventually creates a catastrophe. Everytime the children of Israel did what was right in their own eyes, they sinned against God and suffered dearly. Staying within the boundaries God sets for us brings love, peace, hope and blessings to our lives. Put simply: God’s way is best!
Looking forward to the next few weeks in Siestaville doing the study of Ruth!!
Our group met for the first time today. We are 8 strong. We range in ages from 40’s-50’s. Some of our kiddos are at home, but the majority have college and beyond kids. It is apparent that our group is not only starved for God’s Word but godly friendships as well. Most everyone except one is new to Denver and searching for friendships grounded in Christ. Alot of discussion about the comparison between Judges and Jer 17 reading. It was glaringly obvious to us that the first reading seems so current for today’s culture-relying solely on oneself and following one’s own heart instead of seeking God, trusting in Him and finding our confidence in and through Him instead of ourselves. We are VERY excited about what God has instore for our group.
-Kathie Waldheim, Denver, CO
Poplar Bluff, Missouri and will be doing the study solo; am in my 50’s and have been married for 28 years.
DIFFICULT is the word I would use to describe my life right now. I am in a caregiver role for a family member with Alzheimers and unable to spend time at home or with my husband much at all (has been 9 weeks straight) with no end in sight.
My goal is to stay immersed in the Word and not become bitter in my circumstances and/or let Satan be victorious.
I have been doing the Living Beyond Yourself Study online and am now excited to add Ruth.
By doing as we sit fit, the door for self-absorption and life being “all about us” is opened. Jeremiah 17:7-14 speaks about trusting in God,the focus is off of us and on Him.
oops—should read “see fit” not “sit fit”, was nervous when posting because I am normally a private person and don’t share as much about my circumstances as I did
doo-dah,
Bless your heart, can’t imagine being in your shoes. Difficult is a very good word, indeed. Lifting you and your circumstances up in prayer. I’m sure you are not alone in being nervous to share…good for you in stepping out.I think most of us can relate when we ‘bare’ ourselves….but then that’s when we can rally around each other and God gets the glory!
rene : )
Doodah,
I am praying that the our gracious Lord will give you the physical and mental strength you need and you will feel His peace as you complete the task He has set before you. Your weariness touched me as I am the primary caretaker for my mom who has Alzheimer’s also. I know He is faithful to give me the manna as I need it. I hope that this blog and your Bible studies can recharge you as they do me. They revive and refresh me and are truly the living water in a parched desert. May our loving Lord make them the same for you. He loves you and knows how the task is difficult but in His power is possible.God bless you for being His hands!
Wetumpka, Alabama
going solo this time – usually facilitate our ladies Bible studies at my church
married; in my 50s
SEEKING: a personal revival and fresh excitement for being in God’s Word
Hello Ginger! I’m in Sylacauga and work with a wonderful lady that lives in Titus…small world, huh? Hope you are as excited about his Bible Study as I am.
Theresa….VERY excited! I want to go thru this slowly and methodically….want to glean as much from the study as possible!!! Can’t wait to read what everyone else has to share!
I’m with you about the “slowly” part. I’ve done the first two days and I’m loving it already. Already I realized there is much to be gleaned from the book of Ruth. Stay cool and see you here again soon.
Theresa,
If you get down to Montgomery/Wetumpka anytime in the next weeks, let me know and let’s hook up to talk about Ruth and what we’re gleaning from it!
We are a non-denominational Bible study group meeting in Sheridan, Wyoming, made up of women of all ages, backgrounds, denominations, but have a great time studying God’s Word together! We have about 50 women who will be doing this study together, and will be meeting in 5 different small groups. Some of the “ONE WORD” descriptions were “change, busy, blessed, full-plate, hot-flashes (we decided that could be considered one word for obvious reasons!). Some of the goals for doing this study are to have the structure of daily time in the Word, a difference in our attitudes (Our husbands notice when we’re not in the Word!), and just having some time with other women so our minds don’t go to mush with toddlers.
Mostly, we love being in God’s Word together with other women.
Being in the Word with other women is something that I JUST got the joy of back in March and I absolutely love it. It is awesome and I totally get y’all on the difference in attitudes part! Fortunately(?) I’m not married so there’s no husband to notice. Ha! 🙂
Springdale, AR; Doing this by myself; Meeting typically in my bedroom (my “peace & quiet haven”).
2) One word to describe my current life – Uncertainty
3) My specific goal is to memorize some powerful scripture! To remind myself that my journey is worth it & that HE is the way!
4) Judges thoughts – Doing what each of us sees fit is especially dangerous because it is the straight path AWAY from God. Jeremiah thoughts – God is enough. If we cling to Him & his word, we will be taken care of by Him. Either in the here & now, or one day when we personally walk with Him in Heaven.
Hey Everyone,
Wow, I was really concerned I would be one out of a “few” going solo. In fact it’s the word I describe my life as right now and past two years since my broken engagement. Solo!
I feel better already knowing there are others of you going solo as well. I’m from Olive Branch, MS and I’ve been reading this blog for probably about two years. I am a K-1 resource teacher and out for the summer. I do not have children, but love working with them. 🙂
I’m overwhelmed with the love that is shared in this blog. I’m looking so forward to the new challenges God is going to give me in this study of Ruth. Loss, (been there), Love, (yes, been there too), Legacy: That’s my goal, to learn to TRUST God more and through this study to learn about His legacy for me and us!
I love what Kathy, from Austin, TX put in about Jer. 17:14 from the message- God pick up the pieces and put me together again. I truly believe I won’t “be together” without God doing the puzzle! I can’t see the all the pieces so I just put them in all the wrong places. The puzzle becomes a mess called life! I’m looking forward to just how He’s going to work this puzzle of my life this summer.
Blessings Siesta Girls, I hope we ALL have a great time in God’s Word this summer,
Amanda 🙂
Urbandale, Iowa.
Solo.
Depleted.
So glad you’re here, Jennifer. God knows you and loves you and is pursuing you. Trust Him. He’s so faithful.
Stay-at-home mom in Meridian, Idaho…going solo.
One Word: Trusting, having gone through many trials over the last five years I am still trying to leave my hands firmly in Christ’s and follow Him instead of trying to do it on my own
Goal: To feast on the word of God and become more like Him. To Grow more…be effective for Christ.
Jud/Jer verses: The woman who trusts in the Lord will be lead to amazing adventures, high true hopes, enduring strength, confident love and abundant joy. The other woman will attempt to find these very same attributes in her life however, no matter what she tries on her own it will ultimately fail and may even end up hurting her and the people around her.
oooooo I so want it to be said of my life that I “did not cease yielding fruit”. Please Lord take me there…
Tucson, AZ and doing this solo.
One word to describe this season of my life: weak
What I want to get out of this study: I want to feel
confidence and God’s presence when I sense God leading me to a place that’s not necessarily comfortable or familiar.
We just moved here last week from Louisiana and I’m feeling a little sorry for myself. We prayed as a family for some specific things we wanted in a home and God blessed us beyond measure with more than we even prayed for, but I feel so empty in it. Scared of the new I guess. I think I’m mourning what we’ve left behind and what my kids are going through. I have to remember God has a reason for every place he’s put us. Boy do I need this study.
Praying for you as you and your family adjust to life in your new home!
Hi! I’m going solo on this SSBS. Recently moved to Richland, MS and haven’t found a group of Siestas to meet with yet. One word to describe my current season- learning. Learning in every aspect of the word; learning to trust God in all things and pursuing education in speech and language pathology!
Sheridan, Wyoming; 8-12 gathering – today we had 6 during our discussion. We are part of a larger group called Women of the Word and we are made up of wives, mothers, grandmothers and professionals, ages 20 and beyond. Today’s discussion was beautiful as we gathered to first get to know one another. Our descriptive words were as full of variety as we are, but seemed to revolve around the busy/chaotic nature of summer as well as its vitality. Our goals also are varied, but many of us are looking for consistency and organization from ourselves as we reach toward our Lord’s message for us right now. We are all looking toward refreshment, peace and contentment as we delve into His Word. Possibly the most important vein of conversation we meandered into delt with our ultimate goal being not this life, but the next one. Peace to you all in the weeks to come!
I’m going solo. I’m single/divorced living in Houston, TX. I work full-time as an admin. asst. My season of life right now is “changing”. My goal is to fuel the flame of God’s Word and get to know these 2 women that God chose to reveal Himself through their story. Doing whatever we like when we like creates chaos and madness. Without authority and accountability, depravity results. Having God and His Word alive in our hearts keeps us grounded and secure and hopeful. Judges vs. Jeremiah – they are related because we see the consequences in Jeremiah to what happens when we are lead by ourselves (Judges) more than being lead by God.
Hey there,
Im 27 from Central Il. Doing this by myself unless someone else is in the area!
I’ve seen so many good words- mine I think it HUNGRY. I really want to STUDY the bible and have it rooted deep within my heart and not just read it.
My goal is to have a stronger/deeper relationship with Jesus and get to know him and me more.
What part of central Illinois?? Just curious as I am getting ready to move a little north.
1. I am from Alburtis, Pa, married for 14 years and have 2 daughters. I am doing this study solo and was so excited when I saw the blog this morning.
2. The one word that describes the season I am in my life right now is SAD. I suffered a loss of a dear relationship within the last few months, our daughters last day of school was today, our youngest daughter will be entering middle school and the oldest high school in the fall and there are some difficult things that we are experiencing at this time. All that to say I have a sadness deep down on the inside that I feel like I carry around in my heart.
3. The goal for me is to strictly get more in God’s Word that I so desperately need.
4. Doing things as we would seem fit to me would bring chaos, uncertainty, and a whole of inconsistency.
Jariza, I am sorry that things are difficult for you right now. I will be lifting you up in prayer to our precious Saviour who loves you so very very much!
1. I’m doing this study solo although I’ve shared the site with others in my Wednesday morning Bible study that runs through the year from Sept. to May. I’m a retired high school English teacher, married to the man of my dreams for 46 years, have one son and daughter-in-law, and grandchildren who are the light of my life. I’m more active in church now because I have no more papers to grade! I can study the Bible anytime I want and as long as I want. My Wed. morning Bible group varies from 10 to 15 people, usually. They, too, love the Lord and love His Word.
2. Life now: BLESSED
3. Goal: Stay in the Word.
So excited to be a part of bible study this summer! I have been following the blog for a couple of years now, but haven’t posted before ~ trying something new!
Our group is meeting in the next week due to vacations, etc. So I will post our answers after we meet. We are a group of 3, two in our late 30’s and one in her early 50’s. We serve in the church nursery together and decided this would be a fun way to grow deeper together in Christ this summer. We all have our books and are ready to roll! Super excited!
Our group is meeting on the “off” Tuesdays (worked better with the kids). We currently have 10 of us who will be meeting in Show Low, AZ
Eau Claire, WI ~ Four gorgeous mommies ~ In a season of constant, crazy, fun exhaustion. We through a mom’s ministry group and have become friends. We are looking forward to growing in Christ with each other this summer and so excited to have a study b/c we slack in the summer. 🙂 Thanks!
Houston, TX. Going Solo. I’m in a season of Discovery on God’s purpose for my life.
Goal for summer: grow in wisdom and understanding of God’s word and effectivley apply it to my walk.
Newton Tony, England
9 participants
Meeting at my house in our Village
Our group started 2 weeks ago because we only had 6 weeks between then and the middle of July when school gets out here so I wanted to make sure we got through it before the Holidays when everyone is gone. Our group is made up of Christ followers and many seekers. Some military and one who owns a Bed and Breakfast in Amesbury. Teachers, Accountants, New Moms, Nurses, Americans and British 🙂 It is really interesting leading a study here in England because so many women here (we are American – military) are not used to women’s bible studies. It’s a blessing though and God is doing His thing!
my grandmother got to meet you today at lunch. it made her trip to houston! now she’ll go back to her small west texas town and tell her Bible study friends.
thank you for your kindness.
blessings-

She was absolutely darling. It was our honor to meet her.
Cedartown, Georgia; 2 of us; Meeting at each other’s house. Our group consist of two college students who are best friends. We are super excited to get started! The main part of our discussion was describing ourselves in one word. We had to put a lot of thought into what word best describes us and we still are not 100% positive that we chose the right one!
Russellville, AR — just me & God on this one
one-word description: haggard (thus the desperate craving to go solo and FINALLY have some quality time alone with God)
goal for the study: to learn how to get much, much better at trusting God to take care of my family in unknown future circumstances

I have noticed a lot of “solos”. A lot of Abraham’s sojourning this summer!

I love Austin 🙂 haha – thanks for laughing with me on my mistake!!! 🙂

It was a wonderful day!
Thank you!!!!
Magnolia, AR; me — going solo; meeting at home!
The one word I would use to characterize my life in this season is “anticipation.” My goal in being involved in this Bible study is to learn to trust God with all of my longings. I am currently experiencing the desire for a husband, while at the same time desiring GOD like never before. I am praying for Him to purify all my desires so that they line up with what His plan for my life is. I know that Ruth speaks to these issues. Doing what is right in our own eyes could lead us onto a path that is vastly different from what He has in mind for our life to accomplish. That knowledge should cause me to stop and prayerfully consider each decision I make. Each of my decisions will either bring His blessing, or His punishment. I want to please Him, honor Him, and glorify Him with my life. I am looking forward to this Bible study community this Summer!
Hi there again I had commented already but I just had to write this, God is already working I read several of the comments and ran across Stacy comment and it just cut to the heart I had been in similar situation yrs ago. So I commented back to her and we are going to join together and do it by email how awesome is that. I will be the leader she appointed me to do that so please pray for both of us a we journey together in this bible study.
Thank you for seistaville
I had earlier this morning I came on the blog and just felt insecure about doing the study and then I am glad I did not back down Thank you Lord.
Thanks Carol
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! THAT IS AWESOME! I am praying for you 2 right now!!!!

Have an awesome evening
Love to you all Carol
One day we will meet
Puyallup, WA; All two of us; My living room; We are married women, one with enough kids for both of us!
One word descriptions for our lives right now are 1) different 2) tailspinning
Goals for this bible study are consistency in God’s Word and perhaps figuring out life calling
Judges/Jeremiah comparison/contrast: When we are doing for only ourselves, we end up with grief/consequences. When we our hope is the LORD (Jeremiah) we are blessed. When we are doing what is right in our eyes (Judges) since our heart is deceitful (Jeremiah) it won’t be right for us or anyone!
Be blessed ladies!!
I am going solo online but am also studying in a group. I found out about this study after I signed up for a group which meets at a church in Louisville, Ky. Kelly came to the church for a summer kick-off to her living room series. She was amazing!! One word to describe my life in this season is; grateful. I am amazed at the many opportunites out there to study the bible. I am fairly new to bible study as well. Thank you Beth and Melissa for this opportunity. Beth – you are the reason for my season of bible study. I was invited by a friend to study A Woman’s Heart and I’ve been like a sponge ever since growing in my faith. My goal with this summer study is to continue to see how staying in the word is changing my life. I just completed Session 1 work – Amazing!!
What church judy? I grew up at Fourth Ave. Methodist in downtown Louisville ( my parents met there as teenagers). Im live in Lexington now.
Linda
Columbus, OH. 4 women meeting at a friend’s house on Saturdays. This will be our first time doing the Siesta Summer Bible Study!!
I have a technical question…I have high speed internet, but after about only one minute of the vimeo running, it stops and just stays frozen…coming back minutes later but only for about 20 seconds. Any advice??
Thank you!!
Please disregard that (or delete it!!) I accidentally figured it out!
the Sky Chair group in Snellville, GA
met this evening. our ladies in attendance were Deirdre, Liza & Christine (Missing were Jennifer & Meri) Also in attendance were husbands and children for a total of 12 people. the ladies did the study on the porch while the men and children made dinner and played. Then we sat down to a meal together. what a blessing this is, Bible study and fellowship with neighbors and friends all summer.
our single words were ; growth, overwhelmed and stymied
our goals were; being open, going deeper, and learning connections.
and in a discussion of Judges 21:25 we just had to laugh – we all have young children so the chaos of this verse seriously resonates.
oh I forgot to say that we range from 52 to 33
I hit right in the middle at 40
and Beth I was so touched that you initially did the Ruth study just after surgery – I just had a similar unspeakable surgery myself.
hugs,
Deirdre
So cool that you all will be fellowshiping together as families!
Let me tell you it is GREAT to sit on the porch talking about the things of God while our kids run through the sprinklers and play on the slide and the men grill out. When we get together for the meal the first question was “so, are ya’ll gonna share? what did you learn?”
the only thing I’m afraid of is that my hubby is going to ask for us to do a Men’s study next summer….;-)
Deirdre
Fayetteville, Ga. Studying with my 17 year old daughter who is at church camp this week so we will talk via text. Married -51 and a business owner so my one word is TRUST in this season. Small business owners are really trying to keep things going in this economy. My goal is to stay in the word and watch how God continues to work in my life. I can’t imagine everyone doing as they saw fit. It only leads to disaster. Thankfully God doesn’t let us go! I would be nothing with out him, as Kelly said in our first study, “He’s my ultimate thang!” Thanks Beth for keeping us in his word even in the summer!
Hi everyone!!! I’m going solo and I’m from beautiful deep East Texas. My one word for this study is “re-trust”. There are several areas in my life where I need this and the most important is to continue to trust God. This ties into my goal for this Study and that is to see how faithful God is when we submit completely in all areas of our life. I want to be able to let go of my controlling spirit and trust God completely.
I was a little concerned about going solo so it is really great to know I am in such good company. With all of you, I’m not really solo am I?
Thanks Beth for picking this great Book “Ruth” for us to study this summer. Judges comment-No accountability will always get us in trouble Need to be accountable to God even when no one is looking. Jeremiah: No fear, no worries, great fruit and rewards according to your conduct. This relates back to Judges and your conduct.
Sorry this is so long, but I don’t blog often so I making up for it I guess.
Amarillo Texas, there are 3 of us in our group. Our group is made up of myself (Becky 35), my aunt Irene (over 50) and her coworker Brenda (over 50). We decided to name our group the BIBs after our initals, but we decided it stood for BECAUSE I BELIEVE! We have gone through 3 of your biblestudies together. I am the only one with a child in the house and I’m currently pregant. Irene and Brenda both have grown children. We all work for the school district, but at diffrent capacities. Brenda is currently going through a divorce after 31 years of marraige so we are going to help her through! One word to describe each of us; Irene: Busy, Becky: HOT!!!(I’m pregant!) and Brenda: Uncertain. Brenda’s goal for the study is that she is looking for hope! (What better place to look than in the bible!) Irene’s goal is that she wants to see the book of Ruth from a diffrent prespective. I just want to commit to emerse myself in the word daily. We are so excited and can’t wait to get started! I just love that the Lord has lead me to you and your staff for guidance! Good Luck everyone!
Becky, Amarillo is my home town & I have about 1 million & 1/2 wonderful friends there, as well as family! So, “Hey!” from down here in Houston!
Blessings to ya’ll in my native country! 🙂

Robbinsville, New Jersey. We are two sisters who are trying our very first Bible study together. I’m nineteen and no stranger to Siestaville! My little sister is fourteen and officially thinks that Siestaville is the most amusing place ever. However, when I asked her what her goal was for this Bible study, she said something that surprised me.
Laughing while she told me (no way she was gonna let on that she was serious) a line from a song that went like this: “I have been changed for the better. Because I knew you I have been changed for good.”
I just want with all my heart for her to meet with Jesus. I want her to know that sweet, protective, God love. I want her to know her value, who she really is. I want her to be able to say, “Because I know You, I have been changed for good!!!” So psyched Siestas!!!
What an amazing sister you are, cheering and encouraging your younger sister! You both are blessed to have each other!!
I kind of teared up reading this because I have a little sister and thankfully SHE took that interest and me and because I know her I’ve been changed for good 🙂 Plus, your description of Siestaville as the most amusing place ever just made me smile 🙂
I thank God for sisters – physical AND spiritual 😀
I am Lora from Hickory, NC. Doing this study solo because I don’t know anyone in this town. One word to describe my life right now is “Growth”. I moved from Dallas, TX to Hickory, NC out of obedience and God is teaching me a lot about Him right now! I hope to gain more understanding of God through this study and how to deepen my relationship with God and to know Him better to bring Him Glory! Amen! If anyone is from Hickory and doing the study too please let me know! Would love to make a new friend!
Forgot to mention that I just turned 50 last week. I am divorced and have 2 grown sons, both married with kids! I am a Grandmother to 4 beautiful girls and 1 handsome boy! Grandparenting is the best! I work full-time but no other responsibilities because I am here alone…my kids live in Indiana.
Aww, if I was in school right now we could totally do the study together… but since it’s summer I’m at home, and not in Hickory. 🙁
You must be a student at LR? I live just around the corner from the campus!
Cleveland, TN – there are two of us – and we met over the phone this evening!
Our words – Unfocused / Wondering
Our summer goals are to draw closer to God and to be consistent in Bible study.
We had a good (short) discussion about how doing as we see fit is pretty much living without boundaries. Not a good idea. Trusting/following God brings blessing…doing as we see fit usually brings disaster.
Hey Tina Bea! Me & my mom are doing the study by phone. She is in Cleveland Tn., I’m in NY. I know she would love an accountability partner there as well if you are lookin for one. Her name is Twyla McAmis. Thanks. :o)
Hello,
I am so blessed to be doing this study with all of you Siestas. This is my first Siesta study, and I am thrilled. Residing in Canton, GA. I am married with four children, 3 boys and 1 girl ages 3 – 12. One word for me this summer is “santification”. The Lord has delivered me, is delivering me, and will continue to deliver me as I trust His purification process. He has won my heart, and I want to be totally free from bondage and totally His. My goal for this summer is to fall more deeply in love with Jesus and be radically obedient to His will. I am desperate for Him. I know He will not fail us, Siestas. He will meet us right where we are in this study.
Beth, the Judges Jeremiah verses spoke to my heart. Any time I have relied on the wisdom of my own deceptive heart or reasoning, I have ended up in a pit. I need a King, my King Jesus to rule and reign over my life. He alone rescues me from my destructive self. He is all my Hope.
Love you all already,
Stephanie
Stephanie, I live in Roswell. If you were interested in doing the study with someone, let me know.

I am doing the Ruth Bible study by myself this summer but I do have a co-worker that is also doing it on her own and we discuss the Lord often. I am sure we will share our thoughts and feelings during these next few weeks. This is my first time doing the Summer series. I have completed many of Beth’s studies and am excited to experience another.

My name is Diane and I live in Roswell, GA. This is my 3rd Siesta Summer study and I have done them all solo. I am part of a very active, wonderful Bible Study group at my church during the “school” year, but we take a break during the summer. I’ve actually found doing the summer studies solo to be very personal and rewarding. It’s nice to know that all my Siestas are doing it as well, though. I’m loving the study – have actually had the benefit of doing the first Session already. It’s hard to pick one word to describe my season right now, but I guess I’d have to narrow it down to “thankful”. Love all you Siestas – and you too, Siesta Mama!
Diane, I live in Roswell also!!! I am doing the study solo and wouldn’t mind doing it with other local Seistas!!!

One word to descibe the season I’m currently in is BUSY!
Doing what we see fit at any given time could be dangerous because we belong to the Lord and it’s for him to decide what, when, where and how. If we take things upon ourselves and do things without asking God we will not be in his favor. Or job is to ask, seek, obey and trust always. Even in the rough times. Especially in the rough times because that is when our true character is tested. God wants to see that we will not worry but seek and trust Him.
Fletcher, NC. 11 of us. Representing 29 kids. Group of friends who call ourselves “The Bettys”. The name is in honor of one of our mother’s, Betty Jean, who also called on a group of friends for love and support. We have a Betty Boop, Betty Rubble, Betty Crocker, Betty White, etc. – each representing our personalities. We are excited to dig into Ruth and out of the ditch!

I already have the bottle of glue in hand! We are so blessed to have each other and seeing all these other posts is so exciting! This is the coolest idea ever!! It will be amazing to watch God work.
I love the name of your group…my mom is a Betty (for real) & I grew up w/a ton of Betty’s (for real) at church….my mom had several friends all named Betty, so they were “the Betty’s” to us! What a hoot! One of my spiritual moms’ is a Betty, so I am particularly fond of that name…
Rock on Bettys!

One word to describe my life right now – transitions
My name is Alisa, and I live in New Hampshire. My husband and I are church planters. I am a SAHM to 10 kids ages 2-17. A word to describe the season of my life is dry. The church we are helping with now is in another town, and there are only 5 other members who are all much older than I am. Because of my kids, I don’t get to attend often. New England is a very day place with few Christians, so I don’t have regular Christian fellowship. It is spiritually dark where I live, and it is difficult. I am from GA and I have lived here for almost 2 years.
Alisa, If you are anywhere near central NH, check out some of the churches in Manchester and Concord. I realize you wouldnt attend there as you are planting your own. It might be a good place to find some fellowship though. You are right, NH is very tough. I am praying for you now – that God gives you friends.
