And it was clearly a VERY good hair day for Beth…I tried not to be distracted by the perfect volume, highlights, & color!

I am using the MemoPad that comes already loaded on the blackberry. It isn’t as cute as Beth’s app, but it works in the same manner as you have to type it in and give it a label.

I have also downloaded free Bible software from Olive Tree. They have the NET Bible that Beth often quotes available for free too. It is my favorite translation at the moment. http://www.olivetree.com/ Click on mobile Bibles, then click the box that says free, then click sort.

I just finished reading So Long Insecurity – for the second time. The first was for me and upon the urging of my mother who was right, it hit me right where I needed it and straight to the heart! The second time it was for another. I work in full-time ministry at the University of Wyoming. I spend my days teaching college women how to live life in a biblical way and I knew that one of the girls I mentor one-on-one would love the book. So we spent the fall semester and Christmas break reading it together and discussing it. What a joy it has been! As I finished up the last pages of the book with my wet dog (she just had a bath) sitting on my lap (she weighs 3 pounds and with a name like Lola Jane lives up to her Princess mentality that the lap deserves her presence before a book’s) I thought to myself, “I think I’ll see what’s going on with Beth lately.” I thought it would just be a minute (my feet were freezing and slippers were across the room) but I ended up freezing and reading for almost an hour. I just wanted to say thanks for all you ladies do! Thank you for the encouragement that is more important than freezing feet! Thank you for speaking to parts of me that I would keep hidden if I didn’t know someone else struggled too! Thank you for speaking Biblical Truth into my life because it has helped me learn to speak Biblical Truth into the lives of the women I have the profound joy of leading! I’ll leave you with this… I wrote it in February of last year before I had ever heard of your book So Long Insecurity. After reading the book again I knew I wanted to share it with you. Here goes and then I will go let miss Lola outside because she’s looking up at me with that whine that says, “Put me out or so help me I will pee on the slippers you just disturbed my peace to put on!”

    Security – February 27, 2010

    I find myself craving it,
More so now than ever before.
It haunts me, it beckons, knocking at my door.
It’s elusive and momentary, leaves me wanting more.

Will it ever come? Will it be made complete?
Will the taste of it satisfy my soul?
Or will it burn a deep, searing hole,
Once full, a now empty, discouraging bowl?

It is false and fleeting, no one ever knows it for long,
Here on this earth it’s temporary, oh so brief.
A lover, a friend, an enemy, all the play the thief,
The pursuit of it so empty, leaving me hopeless, steeped in grief.

Will it forever hold this power?
This trance will I ever have the strength to break?
Or will I daily feign its results, so pretend, so utterly fake?
My own version will I be able to make?

I try to find it in men, in money.
In a career and other’s gentle advice.
While I pursue the world is cheering, Satan’s ploys so kind and nice,
Encouraging me to keep going, to keep looking for what will suffice.

This world, these people, men who catch my eye,
None can know, none can fulfill, none can guarantee.
Only in Heaven can the answer be
Only in Him will I find my security.

It has come, it’s been made complete.
My worth has been made known.
It can fully satisfy, it can fulfill and be sown.
It can do everything I need and more, if sought through Christ alone!

Thank you so much for sharing this poem with us. God is using you as his vessel. I have seen so many women of all ages who are living their lives trapped by insecurity and God is putting it on my heart to reach out to our teens with Beth’s book to combat it before it takes such a toll. Thank you for providing that for these college women. I’ve been asking God if this is what He wants me to do and I feel like your comment is confirmation.

    Hey girls,

First of all, HI SABRINA!!! What a fun little video!! This SSMT and this spiral have been so fun!! It fits right perfectly on my dash and it has gone everywhere with me. Can’t wait to fill it up!

Love the app…now I just have to get me an iPhone or iPad! You aren’t selling those, are you??? πŸ™‚

Thanks again for loving us so much and spurring us on. I’m still astounded at God’s provision of such sweet fellowship in such an uncommon way!

Been thinking about this scripture all day. I’m sure in context it has an entirely different meaning, but I’m claiming it for us and for Joanne, because I KNOW that God is doing something that we could have never imagined in our wildest dreams!!

“Look at the nations (OR THE SIESTAS) and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Habakkuk 1:5 NIV

    Blessings,
    Dori

Joanne is a big fan of you and your work Beth. She is a 38 year old mother of tow beautiful girls and wife to a faithful and God-fearing husband. A couple days ago she suffered a stroke and is currently in the hospital fighting for her life.

Her husband and kids are at her bedside. They have requested Psalm 46 be prayed for/with/over them.

Can you? Would you be willing?

    Blessings-

MERCY – Y’all are so cute! I REALLY wish now that I had an i … iANYTHING! And that is sayin alot since Radical is wreckin my heart – and my wish list – for Him! But that is just too cute!

Also, I just want to ask that if any of you have had it on your heart to be praying for Joanne Heim (The Simple Wife) in her time of need, you may know already about the #prayingforjoanne hashtag on twitter. But I wanted to let you know that her sister and her friend Janna are asking that we send in Scriptures to paper the walls of her hospital room.

Here is where the SSMT comes it – some of us are taking one page from our spirals to write our verse for Joanne on and then we are taking that page and sending it to her sister Kristen for the wall. If you feel so led, and would like to join us, here is the link to find the address: http://mustardseeds.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/01/joanne-update.html

Thank you so much. Imagine her waking up and finding her room COVERED in SSMT pages and knowing that we love her so! This community has been such a Blessing and has created so many very real and personal friendships – WHAT a Blessing.

I do not know what you ladies had in mind when you created this blog, but such a times as this is what HE knew.

Glory to Him and Him alone!

Hey Siesta’s, just watched the video”) it is amazing how many are doing the Scripture Memory this year….Yeah God!!! Nothing like a fresh dose of the Word of God in our hearts to continue to change us to His glory. I try each year to hear God give me a theme. This year it is to know Him more and love Him best with my whole heart. So I will choose Scriptures that have touched my heart in coming to know Him as He reveals Himself to me. I read David Platt’s book Radical this week and realize I want more of Jesus…
I think the app is a wonderful idea!!! Love your excitement!
Lord bless you all at LPM

    Rebecca says:

Okay, okay, I give up. I’m in.

I didn’t plan to do this this time. But let me share a story.

I’ve wanted to be a mother since I was a little girl. I’m 36 and still waiting. I gave up the dream of becoming pregnant, and turned to a new dream of foster care with the hope to eventually adopt. But after two years of fighting through red tape and inefficient government procedures and people who won’t do their job, and STILL not having the approval process completed, I hit a point this weekend where I couldn’t take it anymore. I was asking God why all these issues, why so long, why couldn’t I help these children that I know He has TOLD me to help? And finally I just said, “God, I need a word.”

And He said — not audibly, but ever so clear — “Beth Moore has one for you.”

Huh? I had no idea what that meant. I thought, okay, maybe I need to check the Wednesdays with Beth page, maybe there’s a new lesson on there or something I’m supposed to hear. I got distracted and didn’t check it — and not an hour later, your blog post showed up in my feed — the one about the girl in her upper 30s who just had a baby — and the verse at the end.

“I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of god courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27:13-14

I don’t have the index cards but I wrote it immediately in my devotional journal and have been reading it over and over every time I need it.

Now with this nifty little app, I’m sold. I’ll join in, and the above will be my first verse.

Thanks for letting God use you to show me HIS Word.

    Hi Beth,

I just couldn’t wait to tell you that when my daughter came home from Passion just 9 days ago, she wanted me to order her the Siesta spiral. Even though she’ll be a freshman college athlete in the fall, she is so excited about being a Siesta and coming to Houston with me in January. She was so touched by your talk at Passion and your love of scripture!!! She’s an amazing young woman, Beth, and I believe she will be a strong influence for God’s glory. She reminds me of you in many ways, which is truly to God’s credit!!

Tell Melissa she left Atlanta just in time, as we’ve had a major snow/ice storm. Schools and many businesses have been closed all week. Lots of sledding, hot chocolate, puzzles, books, etc … great fun!

Praying for you and your family tonight.

I just have to share this with all the siestas. I chose the same memory verse as Beth to begin the year. I really felt compelled to choose that verse but at the time I didn’t know why. Now I do,for 2 reasons.
I went today to my oncologist to get the results of my CT scan. It has been a year since I found out I had colon cancer. I have repeated that verse over and over to myself the past week and the Lord has greatly encouaged me with it. But today I was sharing on facebook with my sister-in-law about the good results I got PRAISE GOD and he opened the door for me to share with her that verse since she is going through a really tough time right now. I don’t know when I’ve felt the presence of the Lord any stronger than I did in our conversation. Thank you Father for your amazing love and for continuing work in my life. Thanks, Beth.
