Itchy Feet: Tap Dancing Toward TACOMA!, Fresno, and Little Rock

Hey, Darling Things!

With great joy the Living Proof Live team and I hit the road again for our 2011 dates starting next weekend and we are revved up and ready to jump on anything with wings. Over the last eighteen months I’ve tried so hard to make some wise changes to my (almost literally) back-breaking schedule. One of the biggest alterations is that we decided not to launch the LPL travel schedule until the end of our Tuesday night series so that I wouldn’t be trying to juggle sixteen gillion things at once. It was a really great decision and I have never enjoyed my Tuesday night group more. They’ve gotten to be the chief focus at LPM for weeks and I will be so sad to see the series end. The only downside to the decision is that I have been off the road for longer than usual and away from my beloved praise team and LifeWay event team. We are all really good buddies so we are itching to be together again and do what God has called us to do. I got to have Travis and Angela and part of the team for a great Tuesday night here in Houston or I wouldn’t have made it but I haven’t laid eyes on the rest of group since the first week of December. I’ve missed them so much.

We are BESIDE OURSELVES to start our 2011 schedule in the Great Northwest. We will hit Tacoma next Friday, March 11th, as one very happy group of Jesus freaks. (My printed calendar actually said Seattle but God knew!) God began speaking to me just three days ago about the subject matter. In fact, I have a white envelope that I keep in my car console for blotting my lipstick (it wasn’t premeditated) and God startedΒ  pressing on my heart so strongly about that event that I pulled it out at the stop light and started jotting down themes right there between four shades of pink. Michelle saw it when she was helping me get all manner of stuff out of the car and made a funny face. I said kind of sheepishly, “Notes for Washington.” She grinned and said, “I get it, Ma’am.” I love it when God starts shedding light on the messages because that’s when I know for certain – for absolute certain – that He scheduled the event and it wasn’t we. Lord, have mercy. That’s our worst nightmare. Nothing like showing up and He doesn’t. That’s when you know you missed something.

So, Tacoma first.

Then we break April open with a trip to Fresno, California on the 1st and 2nd. We love us some California! We are looking forward to a whole lot of Jesus, some gorgeous weather, great worship, lots of Bible study (please, Lord), and at least two rounds (and probably two pounds) of In-N-Out Burger. Seattle-country makes me think coffee. California makes me think Animal Style Fries. I have some great friends coming to that one that I’ll get to see afterward. (I am no fun in advance. Too intense. You never have to worry whether or not we take our jobs seriously. There is considerable angst involved. But afterward, if we’ve had time to catch our breath and get something in our stomachs, we are free to laugh our heads off and rejoice in God’s grace.)

THEN, we head to Little Rock. Back home to Arkansas. Both of my sisters will be at this one. So will some of our childhood friends. More than anything, I want to meet Jesus there. Just where I first met Him many years ago. My heart is especially tender toward this one as those rolling hills draw my soul. I think about it almost every day.

So, it’s almost time to pull out the LPL suitcase again and I’m just weird enough to be glad. It’s been so good to have a nice long season at home and I will definitely do it again next year. But somewhere in the distance I hear a voice saying, “Please make sure that all carry-on items are stowed either in an overhead compartment or completely beneath the seat in front of you. If you are seated in an emergency exit row, please read the information on the passenger safety card which is located in the seat back pocket in front of you. If you do not meet the criteria for seating in this row, or if you do not wish toΒ  assist in an emergency (you lame gnat), let a crew member know and we will be happy to re-seat you. Prior to departure from the gate all cell-phones must be turned off and stowed. Once again, we welcome you on board.”

Ah, yes. And that’s when I shoot out my last text to AJ and Lis and try to power down before I get in trouble.

I’m so hoping to see some of you Siestas in one of those three great cities. Anybody planning to head either direction? Even if these events are way off your radar,Β  I’d give just about anything if you’d take a moment and pray for our 2011 Living Proof Live events. It would make a world of difference. Oh, man, we so want to honor God and give Him great glory and spread the fame of Jesus Christ. We want to keep learning and keep growing and keep seeking and keep finding, alongside every woman He sends our way. We have nothing without Him. Not one thing. If we quench Him, we’re croutons. Please pray for our hearts to be pure and our egos to be small and for our God to be huge and make His praise glorious.

I love you guys.

There are a group of ladies from The River Bible Church in Mountain Home, AR that are making the trip to Little Rock! This church is only a couple of months old, so this is going to be a great relationship builder for us girls! I can’t imagine a better way to get to know someone than at a Living Proof event! May God bless you and your upcoming events!

Dear Beth & fellow Revelation Siestas,

I have been trying to be more mindful of God revealing Himself and His blessings on me. He always blesses, but sometimes I notice.

Saturday was the end of a long and trying week. I came home and sat down. For some reason even though it was cold and rainy I had the strongest craving for chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone. There just isn’t an extra dime in the budget for a $4 waffle cone.

I thought to myself “maybe another time, I will just have to wait until God provides and be content with what has been provided. He has been good to me.” I swear not more than 30 seconds later a friend posted on facebook that it was PJ day at one of the local ice cream shops and who ever came in their PJ’s got a free large waffle cone in the flavor of your choice.

That may be the best ice cream cone I have ever had. I called another friend who is a single Mom was also in need of some encouragement that God has brought into my life and we sat there with her kids eating our free ice cream and talking about what God was doing in our lives and the challenges we are having.

I had to laugh at her boys ages 4 and 7. The 4 year old was the first to give up and he said, “Mommy this is too sweet, you take it. Why is it too sweet?” Followed a few minutes later by his older brother saying, “I don’t want any more–PUT IT OUTSIDE NOW!”

    Truly my cone runneth over!

I love how personal Jesus loves each of us. Thanks for sharing your story!! My heart is smiling that you got your cone!

      • WorthyofLove, you are so right that Jesus loves each of us personally. Not a human soul on earth knew what I was thinking or what I had said. The last two years since I started my business, I have had to be much more dependent on the Lord. It has been an incredibly special time and He has some very personal and special things for me. Well like I said above–He always does–but sometimes I both notice and appreciate what has done and is doing.

Oh and they had my favorite flavor too! Chocolate with chunks of peanut butter.

Jesus isn’t some far away person who is not connected to us. He is right next to us going through our day with us. He is next to us on the good days and the bad and everything in between.

It is just so hard to grasp that the most powerful being in all of existence not only knows who I am, but further more cares. And not only that but He spends all day everyday with me–even when I don’t notice Him, He remains faithful to me. I really want to grasp and live in that truth—not just a moment there and there–but every minute. I am not there yet, but He isn’t going anywhere or leaving me–even when I wander about in a clueless daze.

        • Not only do I love how He loves each of us personally, but even the tiniest details matter to Him. Not just any cone would be free, but a waffle cone and any flavor you wanted! Perfect!

    Hi Beth,
I have been trying to figure out a way to send you a couple pictures! The best I can do right now is post this comment and direct you to the accompanying picture next to my name.
My best friend (aka Soul Sista!), Sarah and I just celebrated our “First Year Friendiversary” on March 1st – we met at the first meeting of our “So Long Insecurity” book club, and were instantaneous besties!! This past year has been amazing for us, from reading and discussing your book together, getting past insecurities, growing inseparable, witnessing her get baptized and her asking me to be her matron of honor!
So, of course on our “date”, we had to take pictures with “you”, there is even one of us kissing your cheeks! πŸ™‚
Thank you, Beth, for being amazing and doing God’s work, and in doing so, allowing two “soul sistas” to meet!

    Brenda says:

Greetings from Canada’s capital! On Sat. we had freezing rain, sleet, rain, heavy rain, and then 5 inches of snow got dumped on us. Very messy weather. The verses for the day in a devotional planner were so appropriate:
Isaiah 55:10,11 – “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” NKJV or as the Good News Bible puts it “My Word is like the snow and the rain that come down from the sky to water the earth. They make the crops grow and provide seed for sowing and food to eat. So also will be the Word that I speak – it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do.”

We are coming to Tacoma!!! I get to go with my dear friend Cheri who has been a long time friend of 25 years- since those topsy turvy Jr High years! We have wanted to take a trip together for over a decade but our much loved children and families, health, school schedules, etc coupled with 8 hours of driving distance between us, hasn’t given us the occasion -until now!! We’ve wanted to get together for a Living Proof Live event with Beth Moore, and this is our chance since Cheri resides just north of Seattle!! I’m heading up from southern Oregon and meeting her there while our wonderful husbands hold down the forts and care for our kiddos (ages 2, 7, 12, 15, 15 & 17) with a little Grandma help too. God is so amazing to work out all the details for us-for all of us in fact! We look forward to praising Him and coming closer to Him and enjoying the time He is blessing us with! We can’t wait for this time to just focus on everything He presents through this event and our time together! God be Praised and may we all find a treasure opened in our relationship with Him and those around us~ Jesus has given so much and the Father just keeps on giving πŸ™‚

    Amanda May says:

This feels like a really random thing to post as a comment, but I’m just going to do it anyway and trust that if there is anyone out there who needs to read it, that the Lord would miraculously lead them to it.

First of all, I am beside myself with excitement to attend the LPL event in Tacoma this weekend. BUT with all this excitement, the Lord has been gently (okay, maybe not so gently) reminding me of something He taught me just over two years ago, and asking me not to forget it!
I’ll share it here, in the hopes that maybe someone else will read it and it will resonate with them. And if not, maybe the Lord is just wanting me to make a public proclamation of my struggles…and this is just between me and Him.

I think that so often, we can have sincere hearts in attending events like these, but the enemy (or our flesh) can get us side-tracked without us even realizing it. In a misguided attempt at seeking the Lord, we can unintentionally end up seeking after a person or an experience.

I believe that the Lord would love nothing more than to meet with each one of us at the these type of events. To blow our minds with His presence and draw our hearts closer to Him. At the same time, He is so gracious and knows what is best for us. If our motives are twisted, and we are going seeking an experience (apart from His presence), or just an up close and personal glimpse at a human we have inadvertently begun to worship in our hearts, He can also (in His mercy) allow us to be disappointed in that person/experience, so that we seek Him instead – the only One who will never disappoint…the only One who can EVER change our lives.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. And sometimes, in His love, He will prevent us from getting what we want so that, ultimately, we will turn to Him for what we NEED.

As I eagerly anticipate this weekend, I am pleading with the Lord to do a fresh work in my heart. To cleanse me from all my impurities and all my idols (Ezekiel 36:25-27), so I that I am freed up to enjoy Him fully. I am asking Him to break through the stubbornness and rebellion of my heart, to override what my flesh wants (a spiritual high, an experience) and give me what I need instead…more of Him.

If the enemy of our soul can’t stop us from attending an event like this, He will do his best to get us side-tracked and distracted using whatever means fits our individual personalities. Maybe some of us our distracted by a person we adore, others may be distracted by all the beautiful people around us (and we get sucked into comparing ourselves). Maybe we’re distracted by the worship team and a desire to be able to β€˜lead worship like that’. It doesn’t matter what it is, if the enemy can get our eyes off of Jesus, he has effectively prevented us from having our hearts and eyes turned toward the One who knows exactly what we need…and promises to give it to us.

β€œNow to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy” Jude 1:24

SO excited to see you this weekend in Tacoma. For so many reasons. Last time I saw you was at Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, WA and after having done your studies for so many years, had written you about my ‘road’ and you actually mentioned it Friday night when sharing a bit about how you read the correspondence from some of the women who live where you will be speaking. Sharing that you had ‘read every word’ and what a powerful testimony you thought it was. That was amazing for both me and the other women from my church who were attending (not to mention my mom!). You CAN imagine what the Lord has done since then. Blows my mind. This time, there are several women who are attending as a result of the women in my church whom I KNOW are going to be significantly impacted – probably to a life-changing degree and am so excited to see what the Lord is going to do. And that Travis! Glory! Can’t wait to be brought into the worship that only he and his team can bring. Play his CDs in my car almost every day and have those hands up while driving on occasion. πŸ™‚ Love ALL of you.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Seems I’m always waiting for something. When I was a child I was waiting to grow up. When I went to school I was waiting to graduate. The following poem by an unknown author describes the Secret of Wait as it relates to his/her relationship with the Lord

    Scripture: Psalm 40:1 (NLT)
“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry”

    The Secret of Wait

    Desperately, helplessly, longingly I cried;
    Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently, said, “Child, you must wait.”
My future and all to which I relate,
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to WAIT?

    I’m needing a “yes,” a go-ahead sign,
Or a “no,” to which I then can resign.
And, Lord, you promised that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And, Lord, I’ve been asking, and this is my cry,
I’m weary of asking, I need a reply!

    Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate;
As my Master replied, once again, “You must wait.”
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
And grumbled to God, “So I’m waiting… for what?”

He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes wept with mine,
And He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign.”
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun,
I could raise the dead and cause the mountains to run.

All you seek I could give and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want, but you would not know Me.
You’d not know the depth of My love for each saint.
You’d not know the power that I give to the faint.

You’d not learn to see through the clouds of despair,
You’d not learn to trust by knowing I’m there.
You’d not know the joy of resting in Me,
When darkness and silence were all you could see.

You’d never experience that fullness of love,
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove.
The glow of My comfort, late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.

The depth that’s beyond getting just what you asked,
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have, last.
You’d never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that “My grace is sufficient for thee.”

Yes, your dreams for your loved ones, overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss if I lost, what I’m doing in you!
So, be silent, My child, and in time you will see,
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And though oft’ My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still WAIT.

Prayer: Father, help me to learn how to patiently wait on your plans for me in the kingdom. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

I have been praying for you all the time!!! I lead a very small Bible study and I always wonder how you do it. I know that you walk so close to God and must rest and rely on Him continually. Anyway, I will continue to pray for you and your team. You are a breath of fresh air!! I thank God for you and your family:)

    Beth,
It would be awesome if you could swing through New England one year. I checked your schedule and the closest you’re coming to CT is Baltimore! I’d love to hear you speak.

Beth, I enjoyed your James Bible Study so much! Was thinking about my daughter, 24 in Louisville KY while you prayed for those young women, I was also including her! She loves your quotes and makes me give her one after every Tuesday night study, so this is the one I gave her today: “I can’t do it, I have a bone in my leg!” Wish I could’ve told the story that went with it as well as you did ha ha!! I am hoping she will get to see you when you are in Louisville in June, so she can get her own quotes ha ha!!

Beth, I will be headed for Fresno with a few of my bible study gals at the end of the month. My first grandchild is due 4/11 so I’m praying that my daughter doesn’t go into early labor. I promised her I could get back to LA in four hours! We started Faithful,Abundant,True on Monday night and it was amazing! We started doing your studies 11 years ago with 5 women. We are now 60 strong and for the first time have 5 high school girls. The excitement in the room was off the charts! God is so good! Thank you for meeting up with the Siestas in Irvine. You were very sweet with us.

I am so looking forward to seeing you in Fresno, CA. I am bringing my friends Karleen, Michele and Aileen. We will be out in the crowd eager to hear from God through you precious servant. I also look forward to the sweet surrender in worship with Travis Cottrell and group.

Our Bible study in Bakersfield, CA is finishing up the study Faithful Abundant True and we have LOVED IT! You ladies were used by God to open our eyes further as we hunger to know God more.

    See you April 1st πŸ˜€

GET READY TO BE GREETED IN TYPICAL WET WASHINGTON FASHION!!
WE’RE REALLY GONNA ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET AND UMBRELLA’S FOR YOU ALL. DON’T WANT ANYTHING TO ATTEMPT TO FLATTEN THAT BIG TEXAS HAIR OF YOURS!!! KNOW THIS, YOUR GONNA NEED THAT GIANT BIG CAN OF EXTRA VOLUME HAIRSPRAY, SO MY, MY, DON’T FORGET TO PACK THAT STUFF Hee!! Hee!!

Now on to a more serious note. Beth I just can’t stand the thought that you will be this close to me and my sidekick “Hisfivefooter” and us not able to be in attendance there. I’ts just killing us!! I was at my mama’s gravesite tonight praying for you and for your team and pleading with God to just March right in to our State and dump HIS GLORY, LOVE AND SPIRIT ALL OVER US!!! (my moms birthday would have been today, March 9th and I miss her like crazy and I want to hug her so badly!!) Maybe if I see you, you can give me the big warm hug for my mama since you officialy are my siesta mama!!!!!! That would sure make me SMILE:).

Now on to the MOST important point to this text, I felt the Lord lead me to ask you if you are still having the “sponsorship” for siestas in financial need. I need four tickets but would be satisfied with just two if the four are not possible. Being able to attend would just blow us away and bless more than you could imagine. We just need it soooo……!love you Beth and if you can’t swing it I totally understand. But I didn’t want to miss out just because I was afraid to ask. Please let me know. My e-mail is [email protected] or 360/863-0463.

Dear sister, I am so sorry that I am just now being able to reply to your comment. Beth’s latest post gave some instructions about calling the LPM office for tickets.

“Because of our wonderful Siesta Scholarship Fund, we have the great joy of offering comp tickets to the event to the first 20 Siestas who call our Living Proof office today during business hours. (Remember Central Standard Time! We are two hours later than you in the West! If you happen to call during the lunch hour, leave a voice mail and they will call you back.) If you would like to come to the Tacoma Dome this weekend for our Living Proof Live but can’t afford a ticket, call toll free 1-888-700-1999 and ask for Kimberly or Susan. And tell them I told you how much I love them and appreciate them when you call.”

If LPM is out, give Lifeway a call at 1-800-254-2022 to see if they might have any scholarship tickets still available.
