The (Closet) 5+ Year Club

CAUTION!!!!! This post is about clothes! If you are offended or put off by this kind of thing, please run for your life until the next post! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! See you later in the week!

Dear Those-of-You-Who-Are-Left,

When you are a bleached blond not only by bottle but somewhat by nature, it is not always easy to explain how your brain comes up with certain concepts but, alas, I am going to try to tell you how this post was conceived. You may need to pour another cup of coffee because it’s rather involved and, not only that, it could not possibly be less important.

Maybe I should say that last part again: It could not POSSIBLY be less important. Proceed from here at your own colossal waste of time.

While many of you have frozen half to death in other parts of the country and world, we have enjoyed a series of near perfect days in a city that, in the summertime, could well be selected as the sweaty armpit of Planet Humanity. Except for a rainy respite here and there, Houston has basked in blue skies and cool breezes with trees budding and birds heralding the in-breaking Spring for such a run of days now that we might well fear that the end is near.

Last Thursday was so utterly gorgeous that, the second I got home from work, I pitched my purse and keys on the counter and headed to the spot where I keep my rubber boots. I couldn’t help but get tickled because all it takes for my two brilliant little canines to rev up for a romp in the woods is for me to start changing shoes. Running amok in these country acres makes them so exuberantly happy that I could honestly swallow gnats from over-smiling as I trudge the path behind them. And I trudge quickly, like my boots are on fire, or they’ll leap and bound themselves to the next county. (Side note: You don’t dare run in these woods if you’re a human or you will break your foot on a big, fat root. And you will miss the poetry in those last 8 words if you do not hear the word “root” as my grandmother would say it: root as would rhyme with foot. Now, try it again: break your foot on a big, fat root. Got it?) So, while I was bringing up the rear (hopefully literally), I was overcome by their imposing enthusiasm and overall cuteness and decided to take a picture of them and tweet about how smart they were. This is the picture.

That is Geli (pronounced “jelly” and short for Angelina) in the front and my own Queen Esther, or Star for short, hanging back a tad closer to her mother. Geli appears headless in every single picture I take of her from behind because she is a bird dog and runs snoot down. I mentioned in the tweet how they know their run is coming just by a changing of the boots. (Kind of like a changing of the guard.) Then, after I got a few fun responses, I thought to my blond self, “If I were on the other side of that tweet, visual soul that I am, I’d be trying to picture the pairs of shoes involved in the person’s exchange.” SO, I did what any red-blooded superficial woman would do. I tweeted a picture of the boots. (Are you on pins and needles by now? Isn’t this post riveting?)

I told the good folks on Twitter that, after I pitched my keys, I exchanged the boots on the right for the boots on the left but, based on the replies, I do believe most of them flipped the order around in their own mind’s eye. I think they assumed I’d had on the rubber boots and changed to the cowboy boots for the walk in country. Au contraire mon ami. Those are gen-u-ine (long “i” on last syllable) Lucchese’s and you don’t wear them in the mud and sticks. Or at least I don’t. I have other cowboy boots I would subject to the ugly elements but not those. Those are the boots I’d worn to work. All said, I switched to the rubber boots for the walk. I can only imagine how intellectually stimulated you must be by now. It’s just that, if we’re going to be visual learners, let’s try to get our visions as accurate as possible. Now I’ll go on if you’re caught up.

So, I’d mentioned in the tweet that those Lucchese’s were a gift to me from the great Texas town of El Paso. Lo and behold, only a few minutes later, what to my wondering eyes should appear but a tweet capturing the momentous reception of those very boots?? The snapshot below was backstage with the most wonderful and gracious handful of women you could imagine at our Living Proof Live Saturday morning before our session began. We seldom do this kind of thing and I also don’t make a practice of receiving lavish gifts but this was arranged in advance and was, quite simply, a matter of heritage. It takes a Texan to know one. That’s all I know to say. Don’t bother entertaining the thought that I did not put the boots on instantly and wear them for the rest of the day to teach. Of course I did. And home on the plane.

SO (there will be lots of “so’s” in this post because I’m taking you with me on a dizzying journey of the blond psyche and I’m trying to sew/so the pieces together for you) THEN I noticed that I had on the exact same jacket in the picture in El Paso that I’d worn to work THAT VERY DAY. (Did any of you catch your breath??) Some of you regulars even with abbreviated memories may remember because there is a picture in the previous blog of me wearing it. This is not the exact same picture I used in that post but it’s among the handful KMac and I took for it and it gives you a better view of the jacket. I wish it was full length because the same boots would really provide the finishing touch. (And, if there is anything some of you are wanting by now, it’s the finishing touch.)

Now, let’s admit it. There’s absolutely nothing impressive about me having on the same jacket in 2013 that I wore in the picture from Living Proof Live El Paso in 2009. But surely you will quit that slouching in your desk-chair post haste when I tell you that I bought it at a Lord & Taylor department store in Houston, Texas that has been closed for a solid decade and have worn it for 13 years with a devotion that can only come from true smittenness. I have loved it every time I’ve worn it.

Whose boots are stepping in this hay with me now, Sisters? Are you beginning to see the light? Because this post is about those rare and elusive pieces of clothing that we can actually call a good buy. And the best way to tell a good buy is that you…

never can say good-bye. No, no, no, no.

SO (everybody say that word with me now), I marched into my closet when I got home from that walk in the country and commenced to grabbing hangers. The result of that mad hanger-grabbing was 7 of my personal favorites from what I will henceforth call my 5+ Year Club. Each of these jackets have not only been in my closet for five or more years. They are still on the active list, getting plenty of current wear. Drum roll please:

I love this one. It’s got a darling little strip of that beading on the lower back, too. It’s a good choice for a big room. Tailored but not stuffy. Just in case you care to know a fairly reliable dressing guide for female communicators, the smaller the room, the better off you are if your clothing is understated. The larger the room, the larger you might tend to go on the look so that you don’t disappear in it. (Of course, the rub is that “larger” is a highly subjective matter. For instance, small rooms never kept me from large hair.) Addendum: I just heard from one of you on Twitter who said I wore this jacket at LPL Portland in 2003. Boom.

As you can see, the following is the utmost in understated. Clearing throat. So sue me. I’ve totally loved it. I wear it numerous times a year but without fail on Valentine’s. It is even brighter red than it looks in this picture if you can imagine that and I most like to wear it with black slim-legged slacks or jeans.

Melissa gave me the next jacket for Christmas a number of years ago. She and I tried to think exactly how long it’s been but couldn’t quite put a date on it. It makes the 5+ Year Club for certain though. It would have been a little pricier because it came from a rack at Anthropologie.Β  It was a splurge for love of her mother and one not put to waste. I’ve worn it a million times. Because it’s bell shaped, I go with a slimmer leg on this one, too. My usual rule is: blousy top, slimmer bottom. Slimmer top, blousier bottom.

I wish I could remember exactly where I got this next one because it was my favorite kind of buy: super cheap and great fun. (Interjection: Melissa proofread the post and said, “Mom, you got it at Forever 21.” Embarrassingly, I think I did.) It is well beyond the 5 year mark and still not nearing the retirement list. I wore it to teach one Tuesday night during this recent round of women’s Bible study and somehow must have gone so utterly wild that I flung a button. (See fourth spot below) I did, however, find the button up on the third level of the church auditorium where it had put somebody’s eye out (all of that part was a lie). I will soon break out the needle and thread, as much as I hate to, and give it a mending. Or at least before next Fall.

Come on, Western Girls, and give this one a hand! BEST WESTERN COAT I HAVE EVER OWNED. Hands down. I’m going to estimate it at about 8 years old. Its story, however, has taken a recent turn that will color it, I fear, a whole new shade. A few weeks ago a young barista at a Starbucks told me how much she liked it and I was so powerfully jolted by the spirit of giving that I scared the living fire out of her. Wild-eyed and grinning madly, I ripped it off my shoulders and said, “Take off that green apron right this minute! Try this on! I want to give it to you!” To which she responded with horror and said (I wish you could hear the tone of this as I write it) “I don’t WANT your jacket!” And off she went with her lighter and pack of cigarettes like she was running from Freddy Krueger. I think she may have been staring at me from safe cover as I walked with my head down to my car, slinking like one who’d been shamed. For some reason I’m tickled. Let’s move on.

We are now nearing the end of Beth’s personal favorites in her 5+ Year Club. This next selection gets honorable mention because it is without a doubt the one I’ve worn the most. It is multipurpose and can be dressed up or dressed down. I’ve spoken or taught in it more times than I could count, worn it to dinner with Keith (when we used to actually go to restaurants because we lived in an actual city), worn it to church, and to numerous funerals and it is still a long way from worn out and nowhere near retirement. If I were quizzing you, I’d ask this: Based on my rule of pairing earlier stated, would I wear slimmer pant-legs or blousier pant-legs with this?

Blousies win.

I saved this one for last because it is the jacket of my life. Yep. My all-time favorite. I could almost pause for a moment of silence. Melissa got it for me for Mother’s Day while she was in college and that was a minimum of eight years ago so it’s at least that old. Amanda and I do a lot of gift-giving as well, needless to say. It’s just that Melissa has been more prone to jacket-buying somehow. It’s the neatest fabric ever and such a pretty blend colors. It’s truly my favorite thing in the closet. I don’t wear it as much as I used to but I just can’t seem to say good bye. I want to retire it like a basketball jersey and have it hung in one of my daughter’s homes after I’ve passed. Addendum: Amanda has now added that a theme has emerged here today: my best jackets have clearly come from Melissa. For this reason, I am leaving instructions in my will for this jacket to be hung in Amanda’s home for time immemorial.

This final selection is meant to serve as a warning not to buy things when you are hormonal. It is the most hideous thing in my closet. It looks and feels like something a deep sea diver would wear and you sweat in it like you’re wearing a tall kitchen trash bag. It’s so orange, cars yield to it and pumpkins bow. I am ashamed to show it to you but, to be fair, I feel that I must. We make it a practice to air some of our dirty laundry here on this blog. I still own it, not because it was a good buy, but because it wasn’t and because I am trying to punish myself by making myself wear it. I put it on from time to time and think something to the tune of, “This is what you get.” I have to challenge myself when I wear it not to try to explain it to people I’m with. I have this feeling that most would not fully grasp that I am trying to punish myself. I need to give it away but really. Who wants it?

SO, that’s it. Let me just go ahead and say that I am sorry for this post. I have a feeling that some of you read all the way to this point because you, too, are in a self-punishing mood. I’d like to thank you.

Honestly Beth, You CRACK ME UP!!! Thanks for the middle-of-the-night-can’t-sleep-because-menopause-is-the-pits laughter! The jackets are gorgous, just like you! PS: Warning: This is weird: I notice that your hangers are all different types. I wish I were one of those women who is so organized that all the clothes hangers in her closet were the same, don’t you? LOL

Beth, this is going to sound as silly to some as your post but this post was just for me today! I just went shopping last night looking for things to wear for teaching today and a speaking engagement for mothers day. I am just starting out on the journey of a Bible Study teacher. You are my role model and last night as I was shopping I really was thinking how great it could be if I could get style advice from Beth because she always looks so cute! Then here this is! Thank you for feeling silly and actually posting this. I can see by the comments that it brightened many people’s day. But for me it was just more confirmation that I really am supposed to be walking down this terrifying path. Thank you for bringing your wonderful flavor to this day today, my 3rd recording session for my first Bible Study! Now I know what to wear! πŸ™‚

Oh my goodness, I loved this! Laughed so hard at the horrified starbucks barista running from you, and wish youw ould have that urge to give in my presence. Anything from you is bound to be astylish step up for me:-)

Love your fashion and, even more, your heart. Isn’t it just like God to bless women with an interest in one another- even their closets? Thanks for this fun:-)

Loved your jacket post…Chico’s proves the point too! Nothing like great jackets and smart separates that mix and match to extend your wardrobe! My favorite jacket of all is a bright red wrap jacket in what looks like wool felt, but it is a shaved polyester felt. A $200 jacket I “stole” on sale at Chico’s! I’ll have this baby for years. Trust me.

    Mary Watkins says:

I saw this on the Bible Gateway page today. Thought the suggestions might help a Siesta who is finding difficulty in putting God’s Word to memory.

Ten Tips for Memorizing Bible Verses
    1. Choose a verse to memorize that speaks to something in your life right now.

A Bible verse that’s relevant to what you’re going through is easier to memorize than one that speaks to a topic that’s abstract to you.
    2. Start small.

Choose a short verse to start with… and make it even shorter by breaking it down into pieces. Memorize the first five words in the verse first, and when you’ve got them down, add the next five. As you become more confident, you can add more words, sentences, and even entire versesβ€”but don’t add anything new until you’ve got the previous words down pat.
    3. Write it down.

A vast majority of Bible Gateway fans suggested this simple strategy: write the verse you’re memorizing down on paper. But don’t just write it once; write it many timesβ€”five or ten times is a good start (and some people write out their memory verses up to 50 times!). Physically writing the words out is an extremely useful tactile memory aid.
    4. Say it out loud.

Just as writing a verse out can help in memorizing it, so speaking the words aloud is an excellent way to burn them into your memory. One person suggested turning the radio off during your commute to work or school each day and reciting your memory verse out loud instead!
    5. Incorporate the verse into your prayers.

When you pray, include elements of the verse in your words to God. Pray that God will help you understand and apply the verse to your life. Pray for God’s help in fixing the verse in your heart and mind.
    6. Put it everywhere.

Many people suggested writing your memory verse out on multiple index cards or sticky notes (combine this with tip #3 above!) and putting them all over the place, so that you’ll see the verse many times throughout your day. Tape the verse to your bathroom mirror or computer monitor. Tuck it into your purse, lunch sack, car glove compartment, school textbook, pockets… anywhere you’ll see it. One person suggested making the verse your computer desktop background, and another goes so far as to laminate the verse and hang it in the shower!
    7. Use music to help.

Do you find it much easier to remember lyrics than spoken words? Try setting the Bible verse to a simple tune (perhaps repurposing a song you already know well) that you can sing to yourself. (If this sounds like a strange suggestion, consider that many famous hymns and worship songs use Bible verses as their lyrics, and were written specifically as aids for Bible verse memorization.)
    8. Make it a game.

Turn the act of memorizing into a personal challenge! You might write the verse out on flashcards, leaving key words blank, and quiz yourself. Get some friends or family members to help quiz you, or even to memorize the verse along with you and encourage/challenge you.
    9. Translate the verse into a different language.

This tip isn’t for everyone, obviously, but several Bible Gateway fans suggested that if you’re comfortable in more than one language, try translating your verse into a different language. Translation requires an intense focus on the meaning and language of a verseβ€”an obvious help for memorization.
    10. Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Whatever strategy you follow in memorizing a Bible verse, do it repeatedly. Write it down, speak it out loud, sing it out, pray itβ€”but whatever you do, do it over and over until it’s a natural, reflexive action. The goal isn’t to reduce it to a mindless, repeated activity, but to slowly press the verse into your memory through repetition. Repeat your memorization activity over the course of several hours, days, or even weeks to pace yourselfβ€”there’s no prize for memorizing a Bible verse fastest; the point is to internalize it over time. And that means you shouldn’t be discouraged if it takes a while for the verse to β€œstick”—keep at it, and it will take root!

If you’ve never tried memorizing a Bible verse before, it’s much easier than you think! Pick one or two of the strategies above and give them a try, adapting your strategy as you figure out what does and doesn’t work for you. One thing is certain: you’ll never regret spending more time focusing intently on God’s Word. And there’s nothing quite so wonderful as an encouraging Bible verse springing forth from memory at just the time you need to hear it.

Even though I really don’t have much of a wardrobe and hate clothes shopping, I had to read the entire post because I knew it was going to be hilarious. I must say, Beth, that you really are a nut! I mean that in the most loving way possible, truly. One reason that you are so well loved is that you are so real with us. You make each of us feel like we really do know you and you are our BFF. Reading your blog about your personal life makes me feel like I have just been to your house for lunch and taken a walk with you in the woods…just us girls. Don’t ever change, Beth! You are just what we need.

I could write an explanation for each one of mine too! Blessed!

O what a fun post! I have a little “coincidence” of my own that I would like to share here (since I did not want to clutter up our Siesta Memory Team posts today) I am working at memorizing James, and the 5 verses that is scheduled for me these next two weeks are James 2: 1-5…. low and behold – it includes: “a man wearing fine clothes, and a poor man wearing shabby clothes”!!! I love God’s timing and sense of humour… Here I am sharing in a “clothing memory verse”… by God’s design! What fun!

Loved everything about this post — and I’ve been “friends” with you so long (via video instruction, LPL events etc.) that I recognized more than one of these jackets! I have to tell you something goofy — I have a brand-new (well, five months now) granddaughter and I am over the moon for her. On several different occasions, I’ve gotten her little outfits with such, flair, such style, such cuteness I’ve said (and I am not kidding about this one tiny bit) “Oh my gosh, she looks like a little Baby Beth Moore in this outfit!” Praying it’s prophetic and God raises her up (and clothes her!) to be a mighty woman of God! Love you, girl!

Oh, I’ve just enjoyed a delicious audible cackle. Aka lol! Thank you, Beth, for that jolly ride down memory lane. I’m particularly tickled because my last two days have been spent with my oldest daughter as my fashion consultant. We’ve shopped, tried on, closet surfed and good will given. It’s been exhilarating, frustrating, humiliating, and rewarding. We even did a fashion show of sorts to send pictures to my second born daughter whose in college out of town. After all, we needed her approval as well.

I can’t tell you the last time I’ve done this, but it was well worth while. I’m headed out of town in a week for a bit of a difficult situation. I knew that if my wardrobe were settled ahead of time, right down to the shoes and jewelry, it would be one less thing while I was there. Thanks, girls! Oh, and did I mention that cowboy boots finish off one of the ensembles? My second hand pair were eliminated from the competition, but my daughter is loaning me hers. I’m sorry to say I don’t know the brand, but they’re genuiiiiine something or other πŸ™‚ I know this b/c I was given some do’s and don’t’s πŸ™‚

I have to tell you that I had to share this with all my Facebook friends. My post said,”This. This is why I love this woman.” Of course, there are many other reasons why I love you, but the fact that you are a real live woman and put it out there for everyone to see is at the very top.

Sadly, when I went to share it, the very last picture, the orange jacket picture, appeared to be the picture that would be used for the thumbnail on my link. Well, I just could not have that. I am on my phone, so I could not figure out how to change it to one of the cuter jackets (the mustard one). There was an option to remove the thumbnail altogether, so I chose that option. Much to my horror, when the link posted, the orange jacket picture was, in fact, the thumbnail!

So, I love this post. I love you. And I am very sorry the least pretty jacket is the thumbnail for the link on my Facebook.

    Happy Monday! πŸ™‚

Oh Beth, we always get such a kick out of your clothing. It’s fun to see your colorful sense of style. I have a few things in my closet that have been around for a while. Sometimes it’s hard to let go of things!!!
There really is no good place to ask you a question but I thought I would take a shot at it here. It’s kind of on topic seeings that some who struggle with this may be critical of other’s clothing or posts about others clothing lol. Just to clarify:I am not critical of this post πŸ˜‰
I am being more convicted about having a critical spirit. I feel I have a good sense of what is right and wrong and I often find myself critical of other Christian’s behavior, actions, choices etc. I know that feeling is not of the Lord. I’m seeing that at times this makes me feel prideful or self righteous (also not of the Lord). How do I not allow my own convictions to seep out onto others and when, if ever, is there a right time to do so? I am praying about it and reading the Bible for answers but I feel so conflicted.
    Some examples:
    Christian’s who…
    swear on facebook posts
    drink green beer and party
    wear revealing clothing
jump on the mainstream bandwagon with music, tv etc.
Ugh….I even feel bad posting this cause I know it’s judgmental.
Tell me like it is girlfriend. Please. Any resources, studies to help me dig my way though this would be great.

Beth, I almost bought an orange jacket. I finally realized I would look like a member of a hunting club if I kept it. Thanks for the memories. Love you girl!

Beth, right about now I’m wishing more than ever that you were a close, personal family friend, because this totally fashionless, tomboy has found herself in the position of helping a state finalist for the National American Miss competition shop for clothes to wear to one of the biggest, most nationally known pageants ever! Yes, my daughter roped me in to taking her to a photo shoot and interview to become the next Miss Washington, but I didn’t expect it to go any farther, but my little Angela wowed the judges as always and was selected to compete for Miss Washington in the preteen category. I am totally out of my element! I have never been a pageant girl! So, now, this farmer’s daughter has to try to help my daughter shop for an age appropriate formal (they emphasize the age appropriate thing a lot! They don’t want spray tanned 10 year olds wearing a ton of makeup!)and an age appropriate business suit type outfit and help her find sponsors for the competition, cause we sure can’t afford it! All of this and I’ve only been sober for not even 4 months! My life is insane!!

HAHAHAHA! After having our sewer back up in our house this afternoon and the power blow out, ( Sumulitaneously, but not related?!?!?!) I needed a good laugh because my back is sore from mopping up poopy water (3 different times!! (finally the 4th I got to use a generous amount of cleaner because we finally got the problem solved)) and now my house smells like lemons and I am going to sit here and enjoy it after suffering through all of the putrid smells from earlier! The smell of lemon is a great break!

But let me just say the joy of the LORD is my strength and he has brought me much joy and strength through you tonight. God is so gracious and good in his ways and he made way for a shopping trip with me earlier today and I found some amazing clothes for amazing prices and I was still buzzing from that fun when the poop hit the back door (literally) earlier on this evening. I got 3pairs of different colored skinny jeans and 1 of them is orange!!! They are not quite as orange as your jacket, but they are orange and all will know it and I love them. I am planning on pairing those orange skinny jeans with a mens white POLO shirt (blousy) with the front tucked in and a polka dot belt. Its gonna be cute. Thanks for being you. πŸ™‚

I so enjoyed this post and the chuckles as I read it. I’m late on posting my 6th memory verse, and happened to go back and read this. You are a hoot in the best way.

Beth, thanks for sharing! This isn’t unimportant! This is you letting your light shine even when talking about your clothes! God bless you for putting yourself out there on your blog and through your ministry. Breaking Free (through God’s grace) changed my life. P.S., black Chanel-looking one is my favorite:)

I have to laugh at this post because I totally just put up a post on my blog about my manic process to buy something frivolous for myself. I can see that I am in good company. By the way, you actually made that post as you were part of my inspiration. I bought a Pandora bracelet while they were on sale. For my first bead, I bought a blue bead called “ribbon.” It is the reminder of my two journeys through “Believing God”, and the cord of faith that I once wore around my wrist.

Okay, I definitely want Melissa to go jacket shopping with. Glad the barista at Starbucks didn’t take your jacket. I think you would come to regret that decision. Great jacket.

You do care about the little things…smile! I have called your team and have been looking myself for several months now and I need to know about a set of your dishes and NOW that adorable red and white shirt you wore in Phx last Saturday…smile!

In your Esther study you use dishes to show a chiastic structure. I love all of them but I am looking for the pattern to the one with the red squares… you only have green, red in the pattern, and Christmas tree… I really want to buy the pattern with the red for my new set of dishes… when I called LPM they said your Nashville team put those props together but these dishes were not props and you had them in your car for weeks… can you email me the pattern name and number and I will hunt them down…smile!!

NOW for that red and white sweater you wore in Phx last Saturday… that would be the perfect shirt for me for this next baseball season in phx…

I gave a note to a member of your security team but not sure you will ever get it… and what I think about the conference I posted under that section…

AMAZING! I got the word and God did some wonderful healing for me… I got scares now!!! and Jesus’s name is all over them…smile!!!

    Beth,
I hope you get to see this comment. I am just now seeing this particular blog post from March on clothes. I think I recognize the red jacket from when you were in Tucson for LPL a few years ago.

I was blessed to attend that weekend and have something you might get a kick out of.

I rode to the Tucson Civic Center with a lovely young woman from my church and her mother-in-law. I sat in the back seat of her car. After we parked and got out she was behind me and said, “Oh no.” Turns out she had not cleaned the car after her dog riding in it and my backside was covered in dog hair. Now, I was wearing brown slacks and a nice top because, you know, you just have to look cute for Beth Moore! πŸ™‚ I wish I had worn jeans! I mean, my backside was covered *badly* with dog hair. God must have been grinning.

Fortunately, and blessedly, I appealed to people in the office at the TCC, and I don’t know if they were TCC employees or LPL employees, but bless this gal, she found some tape in the office and was willing to work on my backside to get the hair off. Thank the Lord most of it did come off so I did not feel embarrassed. LOL

I love you, Beth, but I tell you, if I get a chance to attend LPL again I will be careful about where I sit beforehand!

Hope this gives you a laugh.

Okay! I’m so excited to see that there may actually be a way for me to find out where my latest “coveted coat” came from…In the Sacred Secret video you are wearing a beautiful outfit (I never thought your jeans looked like leggins) that would be perfect for my husbands company Christmas Party. It’s a Western Theme Party being held in Arizona (we live in Georgia)and looks like it would work for the anticipated weather. Actually I could care less about the weather – I’m just in love with the outfit! Can you post a still shot of the tops please ma’am? Thank You!

I love this post. i suggest you give this jacket as a gift to someone close to you and they re-gift it back at odd times. Neither of you know exactly who will end up with it and when to expect it back in their closet. LOVED this post probably because I am equally bleached blonde and have a special affinity for my jackets

Oh Beth, you make me smile :)! I came upon this post tonight as I was unable to sleep. It made me chuckle as was sitting in your bible study (James) tonight I couldn’t help but wonder how could one go about buying your old clothing :). I learnt a lot in class tonight as I do in all of your study’s but for whatever reason I found myself getting stuck on how one clould buy your old clothing. Thoughts like does Beth have time for a simple grade sale and so on.

I do want to thank you for following the call God has put on your life! I love your books and study’s. I’m understand Gods word more and more all the time! It’s so refreshing that your able to be so real with us in sharing your personal experiences. May God continue to Bless you and your family!
