Hey, Darling Things!
I’m working from home today and thought I’d take a little break and let my study-brain relax a minute and tune my heart into Siestaville. Let me tell you how proud I am of you for clocking in with the same general number of 2nd verses as you did your first verses. The hard part is not the start. It’s pressing on all the way through the year to the finish. But, then, like all runners that make it across that beautiful line, we get to celebrate a huge victory that only comes to those who sweat it out. We give all praise and glory to our empowering, sustaining God and sit back for a reflective moment, take a deep breath, and feel His glorious good pleasure. Community will become more and more essential as we realize that, without making a public commitment and running the race beside a host of others in this Scripture memory marathon, we’ll probably fizzle out. There is no doubt in my mind that we’re more successful at this together than we are separately. It’s God’s way.
Yesterday was a really fun day at LPM. I already put this on Twitter but it took about a half a dozen of our staff members to put together additional shelves for the books Melissa has acquired since she last worked within the ministry office.
I have promised Melissa my library when God takes me Home, but if she keeps this up at this rate for the next fifteen years, she’s going to pass me by and I’m going to leave mine to Curtis. (That threat won’t mean much to you but it will get Melissa and her dear brother-in-lawย sparring again over who gets the books which, in turn, gives me a great laugh.) Amanda has been promised other things like what sits on my left hand. But I might spite them all and live a really long time…with colored hair and firm foundations (and I don’t mean the latter in the religious sense. Or the former for that matter. I cannot find hair color in the Scriptures unless I get to count head coverings which, to me, is not unreasonable. In that way and others like unto it, I am a very submissive woman). We’ll see how that pans out. (The timing of my demise not my hair color.)
The other really cool thing we did yesterday at LPM was preview the movie Courageous. It’s the new movie by the people that gave us “Face the Giants” and it comes out in September. (www.courageousthemovie.com) I will remind you guys about it when the release day gets closer but I can’t wait till then to tell you about it. Sisters, it was so good. I don’t want to give away the story line but I can’t quit thinking about it. They have done such a magnificent job with it. We honestly laughed out loud and cried and cheered. I can hardly wait until it comes out. I think God has something far beyond good, solid family entertainment for this film. I’ve told you guys before that, after retiring from the Army, my daddy ran movie theaters so I love few things on this earth more than good movies and great popcorn. (Yes, we popped corn yesterday. And I ate mine with a Starbucks instead of a coke which was an odd pairing and one I might not venture to combine next time.) The primary message of Courageous is targeted to our men who we all know are also targeted by our very vicious enemy. I really believe I can tell you in advance that the guys in your life will love the movie. Mine will and he’s not easy to please. Courageous scores very low on the cheese factor which we know drives most guys crazy about any form of Christian entertainment or encouragement. I dare say that we may be a tad cheesy in Siestaville but we try to keep our Velveeta loaded with jalapenos.
Lastly, I’ll tell you that we started our January Bible study on Tuesday night with one of the best groups God has ever brought our way. We were flabbergasted. May He be greatly praised and glorified in that sweet sanctuary where He’s met with some of His people so many times. We’ll be talking on here about meeting on Tuesdays but we won’t be talking on here about the material because I’ve established a gag order. Laughing. The on-site participants are previewing a (very little) bit of homework so that their experience will be richer but, for copyright’s sake and for future publishing, we’re going to keep it and the session materials low key. It’s not that we’re hiding something. It’s that it’s just a long way from being finished. I also don’t want hype. Ick. Even well meaning hype from those who are sweetly biased. I just want to study Scripture as God presents it to us in His own good time and His own good way. I won’t actually do the LifeWay taping for this series until late April when we do it with a studio audience and I’ll still write through most of the summer. I am reluctant to keep bringing up the series on here because I don’t want to build it all up in anybody’s mind. A curriculum that speaks to one person can hit another person cold. How this turns out is all up to the Holy Spirit but what I can tell you in advance is that, God willing, we will do our best to know that brief Book of the Bible by the time we’re done.ย Whether anybody will actually “like” it or not is up for grabs. James isn’t necessarily a party bus.
Well, I’ve had about as much of a break as I can afford today. You’re on my mind every day and I pray for you often.
Oh, and this is one reason I got on here today! You know what we’re doing to stay in the Word this early 2011 but what are each of you doing? (Besides memorizing!) Tell me what you’re studying right now!
I love you guys.
I am continuing a study on Revelation that began in the fall. We are to Chapter 13 now, so it is really getting exciting. I have also committed to reading the Bible through in one year, not just for the sake of reading it but really trying to soak in what God saying and apply it to my life. Really am enjoying being in His word and taking it all in, makes the day a lot less stressful!

Thanks Beth and Gang once again for being REAL! It is greatly appreciated.
My early a.m. personal study is going slowly through the Gospels and purposely looking/meditating on how Jesus loved through Word and Deed.
Hubby and I are doing James McDonald’s monthly devotional and getting ready to listen to his series on Trust.
Church family is being blown away by a series on Isaiah!
Home group, Psalm 119!
There ya go! I LOVE the Word and the Author!

AND the women’s study is just about ready to start the last Deeper Still series, “Abundant, Faithful, True.”
Besides the SSMT, I am in my local BSF and we’re going through Isaiah (BSF is tough as always, but in a good way), and my kids and I are reading through the Bible using Egermeier’s Storybook Bible. We’re in Judges now. I am learning a LOT!
joining late, so excited to become part of Siesta! LOVE YOU!
I am using a reading through the Bible plan that currently has me in Isaiah and Mark. I feel like if I can make it through the first 30 days then it will really be a habit and I’ll actually finish. I’m also using Storms in the Desert for my devotionals and am working on finishing up Breaking Free but taking my time because I want it to stick.
Just want to thank Living Proof Ministries for making downloads of the video sessions of your Bible Studies available. Just finished the “Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place” study and seeing the video session each week is such a blessing! It far surpasses having just the audio CD’s. Thank you again for using technology to further your ministry.
Love hearing about what’s going on among this community of believers! Thank you, Ms. Beth, for sharing what’s going on in your part of the world! I am enjoying the challenge of scripture memorization, as I have never been a marathoner! As for what I’m studying…I’m a bit of an overachiever in this area…or ADHD…not sure which. ๐ I have been studying Genesis with a Precepts group for the past year and a half. We are on Part 2 right now. Learning all about marriage, and God’s plan for us in that. Humbling, and amazing!! I have also just begun Kay Arthur’s study on Covenant. Not the Precepts, but the condensed bible study. I will be leading that one at my church over the next 8 weeks. Looking forward to learning about my covenant-making, covenant-keeping God even more! I also continue to work inductively through Proverbs as part of my QT each morning. I can’t seem to get enough of God and His word! I just love studying and discovering the Lord I serve even more!
My small group of women just finished No Other God’s by Kelly Minter and this week we will start For Women Only by Shanti Feldman.
My husband and I are leading a small group in our church FBCL and we have just recently started the “Fireproofing your Marriage” study based off of the movie. So far it is great sharing each week how the Lord is calling us all back to redefine what it means to love our spouse. It’s been exciting too, as most couples in the group have never really prayed with their spouse before on a regular basis & that being one of the biggest challenges set forth by the study I look forward to see how the Lord will use that in each couple.
Sadly not able to do bible study right now, I am required to attend evening classes for my job….so I am reding through the Love Dare….very appropriate and it falls between our anniversary and Valentine’s Day. Can’t wait to see you in Fresno!!!! ๐
A group of amazing women (from FBC in Manchester, TN) and I are studying Kay Arthur’s-Lord, I Want to Know You. The study itself, the time with my Jesus and the fellowship with wonderful friends is nothing short of inspiring!
I’ve been reading ‘Self Talk, Soul Talk’ by Jennifer Rothschild.
Jennifer Rothschild is a sweet, sweet Christian lady.
I had the chance to meet her at one of the women’s events.
I am currently attending BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) and this year we are going through the book of Isaiah (chapter by chapter and verse by verse)!
Doing your “Believing God” study at my church. It is TRULY speaking to my heart and are words I really need to hear. Thank you!!!
Judy from Louisiana-We have a group of 8 women who meet weekly to study “Jesus the One and Only”.
Tomorrow we start the Bible study “Faithful, Abundant, true.” Very excited!
On my own I am reading Lysa Terkeurst’s book “Made to Crave”. Excellent book for anyone who struggles with food being an issue in her life. I would definitely recommend it!
I am currently doing the study “When Godly People Do Ungodly Things” and am only one week into it. The Lord has been so gracious to teach me a ton already. Thank you Jesus and Beth for having such an open and willing heart to be used in this way by Christ. We all love you too!
We are in Week 3 of the new David study by one of the most gifted Bible study teachers on planet earth.
Our women’s group will start Priscilla Shirer’s Discerning the Voice of God this Monday.
Our Women’s Ministry here at Oldham Campus of Southeast Christian will be studying “God Seeker: A Journey Through Exodus 33” by Kristen Sauder (resident author and speaker).
Can’t wait for the Courageous movie to come out as well. We have all of their other movies and enjoy watching them. My husband cries every time at the end of Facing the Giants. He’s not a member of the “daddy team”, but he’s #1 of the “uncle team”!! His nieces and nephew adore him.
Blessings to ya’ll at LPM…welcome back Melissa.

Studying the Ted Cooper Bible in 90 Days. This is my second attempt at this – last session I worked on this along with another study and it did not work! 12 pages a day of reading does not sound like much, but 12 pages per day that you don’t finish add up quickly (12, 24, 48, ….)! Two weeks into this session I am keeping up with the reading and learning so much about our Awesome God. Just finished Deuteronomy this morning. I never realized that God Himself buried Moses. The entire final chapter of Deuteronomy is so beautifully written.
Starting Faithful Abundant True on January 24th. Very excited to be facilitating this study.
I just came through a 3-day absolute fast. On the last two days I managed to finish a book that the Holy Spirit gave me the outline for 4 years ago. I pray that He will now lead me in the right direction for publishing and that it will bless all who read it (and that lots of people read it). Pray with me please.
I am in the throws of studying Daniel! I am in week 2 of the homework and can’t wait to get to the next class for the beginning of session 3.
Beth, I so appreciate you and the way you bring out the essence of WHO GOD IS in your studies. I am a Pastor’s daughter and have walked with the Lord since I was 6 years old, so to have fresh revelation is exciting. The word of God never gets stale!
Blessings,
Tammy
So glad you asked! Here and Now, There and Then….with get this…a friend who is BRAND new to Bible study. God is so amazing..I wish I could tell you all the details and the amazing revelation He gave her on week one. I mean seriously she didn’t know there was and Old and New Testament, or a Chapter from a verse..I am so humbled that God let me be a part of her journey. And He is showing up BIG!
Alongside my small women’s group at church, we are doing the “One in a Million journey to your promise land” study by Pricilla Shirer.
I am Blessed to have moved to Tx July 2006 & can take Beth Moore studies live & in my local small grps. Currently beside the James study I’m taking bible study class- Precept upon Precept(Kay Arthur) “The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly, course of Kings & Prophet series on Fri am. I also love typing so I type outlines, words we are to color code, scriptures ref found thru-out whole study, etc so that classmates & put these in front of the study notebooks for future ref. I am also Blessed to have married a Godly man Sept 2008 & he has made me a wonderful work space in spare room to have plenty books, pencils, markers etc. Thank you Lord for everything good & the bad. Lord I ask you to continue to Bless Beth Moore ministry, Kay Arthur ministry & others that are based on your word (BIBLE=Truth). Have a Blessed weekend everyone ๐ Cyndi in Friendswood, TX
I am currently studying Colossians 3. This chapter of the Bible always speaks to me. I find God taking me back to it when I am overwhelmed by the current events of this world. God always leaves me feeling like I just finished reading it for the very first time! I am once again at the great eye doctor, (God!) allowing Him to perform His version of Lasik as He adjusts my vision so I can once again set my sights on things above not on the things of this earth! Praise Him!
30 Life Principles by Charles Stanley in Sunday School, Revelation in service, 1 Cor in Sunday small group and Living Beyond Yourself in Monday small group!
I’m having trouble landing somewhere … but the Lord keeps returning me to Jeremiah in my quiet time … disjointed and undirected as it may be!
We are studying David with the updated “David…Seeking a Heart Like His.” We’ve just started and it has already meant so much to me in my pursuit of Biblical knowledge and more importantly, in continuously pursuing a deeper relationship with Him.
I have a prayer request…..I have a completely wonderful and adorable 3 month old grandson who has completely stolen my heart. He has a large mass on his neck under his ear that the doctor is very concerned about. My daughter will be taking him to see a pediatric surgeon in a larger town next week for a biopsy. I know God loves him and will keep watch over him. I am also holding to Philippians 4:6-7. Please pray for him. I am praying for healing.
I am using my free download of e-sword to read through every mention of the word “hope” in the Word. Feeling like I could use a stiff dose of hope. It has been a rough year.
I am going through both the ESV and NET versions as both are free. I like having it downloaded as I am not always connected to the internet and it is easy to use. http://www.e-sword.net
I am just finishing reading the ‘Bible in 90 Days’–in 120 days! I LOVED IT! I read it in the Message, the one that has ‘conversations’ from it’s author , Eugene Peterson, includedin it. It was enough to make me stop and tear up often. I’ve been doing this in my quiet time every morning, and Beth’s David study later in the day. I am one satisfied woman!
Wish I’d gotten to this sooner, as I’m super-excited about what I’m doing with my Bible study group!
We just finished a great two months soaking up the truths found in Ephesians 6:10-20. It was wonderful to go slowly and take apart each piece of armor, locating other places in Scripture that talk about prayer, knowing God’s Word, etc. We ended by discussing Paul’s command to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power (vs. 10) and what that meant.
Well, (and this is where I get excited!) we are now going deeper into the topic of faith by going through some character sketches. We started with Gideon and will be looking at Hannah next week. Since faith has a lot to do with believing God to be trustworthy, we are connecting one of the names given to Him in Scripture with what our character was facing in that moment, as a way of drawing out His qualities and discussing them.
Don’t know if that makes sense to anyone but me, but I’m bouncing in my chair!
Our ladies Bible class on Wednesday mornings is doing a study about prayer. It is hitting home with me! Love you Beth! ๐
Because of the snow and sickness we were unable to finish the last two lessons of our Bible Study together. But now I’m reading Jan Silvious’ new book, “Same Life, New Story”. I’m reading it on my own. I think it can be used for groups…?!
But never-the-less I’m looking forward to the next study with the ladies group in a few weeks. I’m not sure what it’ll be yet.
Hi I am 47, and October 28 I went to treatment for alcoholism. As a child i was molested raped and then lived thirty years of self abuse. Drugs, abortions, prostitution on and on. Somehow i married for ten years and have 4 beautiful children. After out of treatment, I heard a message on James Robinson which helped me to stop before I took a drink. I love the nitty gritty messages Beth Moore gives. I am not ashamed any more, and I can work this out with God and the twelve steps of AA. it has been said that AA steps are all found in the book of James. i can’t wait to buy this new series.
Congratulations, Tina! Keep strong. Don’t hesitate to ask for help from God. He knows you inside and out and loves you unconditionlly. I will pray for you.
Beth, we’re just starting your study on Revelation. I wasn’t sure how I’d like less homework but I’m loving it because it gives me more opportunity during the week to study the text on my own, doing word studies and allowing God to speak to me personally(you know…revelation ๐ I’ve found a great online atlas to look up places. It’s http://bibleatlas.org/ I looked up Patmos and found interesting facts about the island as well. Then I typed in “seven churches” and was able to see all of them in context and read about these places too. Thanks for all your wonderful studies. My ladies love you.
We started your Revelation Study – Here and Now…There and Then a few weeks ago! It is an amazing study which has caused our ladies to dig deeper into Gods word! Thank you Beth!
Just reading the Psalms right now. Enjoying it, but I really need to find a group of ladies and dig in to something.
working through Jeremiah with the Eat, Pray, Love free downloads!!! WOWZA! God is plowing up some ground in me!!!!!
I have been fasting and praying for the Lord to show and tell me what He wants me to do in my life. Just finsihed at Wayland Baptist University and looking to understand what He want s me to study for Master. This scripture memory is a blast because God is showing up!!! Thanks
I am doing Elizabeth George’s Woman After God’s Own Heart Bible Study Series, and am on 1 Peter, Putting On a Gentle and Quiet Spirit. I’ve been invited to join a group doing Believing God, and another group doing Breaking Free. I’ve done both studies before, (Believing God 3 times!), and would love doing them again! But I am not sure yet how that’s all going to pan out. It’s so hard to say no! Excited to have so many options! It’s all good!!!
Studying through Philippians this month – this week I’ve been reminded to rejoice in the Lord always and to be anxious for nothing!
David, Seeking a Heart Like His (new version) am amazed at the new women God brings each time we offer a study. getting WM up and running at Trinity UMC in Lansing, MI and am thankful for LPM.
My husband is currently leading our small group through the book of James. I Love James! One of my favorites! So much to learn from this power packed little book from God’s Word.
I am new to this blog and look forward to being part of the SSMT! I have chosen my verse for this 2 week period, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of SELF-DISCIPLINE.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
Daily Devotions and in my second week of David, A heart like his bible study at our church. Thank You for your dedication to Him and may God continue to bless you and use you to help me and many others grow in His Word!
I just recently joined BSF, so I am studying Isaiah.
