(OK, I’m coming back on here about four or so hours after putting up this post so that I can tell you that it turned out to be one of “My Favorite Comment-Sections EVER”! I’m not kidding. You guys are the world’s biggest blast. But, I’m now in the shopping mood again.)
Good Monday Morning, Sweet Things!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to observe some Sabbath rest and be still for a few moments, knowing that He is God. I had an usually wonderful weekend with unexpected joys. For starters, this was a weekend off. That means I got to awaken slowly on Saturday with no plans whatsoever then had an impromptu call from Amanda saying that she had a few hours to hang out. Turned out Melissa did, too. (The joys of having her back are too many to count!) As we were trying to think of what we wanted to do (and were shopped out and grossed out at the thought), Amanda said, “Let’s go see Aunt Gay’s new apartment!”ย I’m hoping it won’t be long before you get to know my big sister here on the blog. She has a story that might hit those of us presently slogging around in faithlessness with a fresh bolt of lightening. Her boys (25 and 15) also headed over to her new place at the same time and the thought of us all being together was better than a bubbling plate of cheese enchiladas with chili gravy running all into the rice and beans. (Man, I hate that I just did that to myself.) The six of us were inseparable in the early years when my mom, our Queen of Everything, was still alive and in complete control. (I say that with great affection…and without deception.) I have almost as many pictures of my sister’s boys as I do my own girls. Then a whole lot of life happened and that’s a story for another time. We had a blast together Saturday and laughed our heads off, which has always been a Green (my maiden name) family trait. What we lacked in emotional health, we made up for in humor. As my older brother, Wayne, says, we all have a keen sense of the absurd. And I might add, we earned it.
If you only knew the whole story…but, then again, you could say the same thing to me. Some whole stories don’t need to be told in public but they do indeed need to be redeemed. (To me, the line is drawn where the glory to God and the good to the listeners profoundly exceeds the pain of the testimony. If the listener will likely be left with graphic visuals and oppressive thoughts or pervasive sadness, we need to refrain from telling it in detail. In those occasions, generalities are best. We don’t have to tell people everything to tell them an important something. We also have to be very sensitive to the other people – often family members – whose secrets are inadvertently told as we tells ours. These are HUGE issues that need to be worked through with great sensitivity. Mind you, I’m talking about audiences here. I’m not talking about counseling sessions. We do indeed need to find someone trustworthy and mature in the faith, with a gift for counsel, to hear our whole story.) All this to say, if you’re alive enough to read this blog, you’re story is not yet finished and you’ve got time for a really great turn in the narrative that leads to a brilliant finish. I know that for a fact.
OK, can you switch tracks really fast? I thought we’d do something fun today. I was thinking again yesterday while I was putting on my make up and getting ready for church how ticked I am that L’Oreal discontinued the mascara Melissa and I used to use. It was our favorite EVER and no other mascara does lashes like it did. It’s so annoying when that happens. And what a double whammy after my favorite pen got discontinued! Some of you remember that nail biter. No wonder it’s been such a hard year. (Of course, I’m being ridiculous. I don’t want to insult those of you going through tremendously hard times. Like many of you, last year actually was really rough but, oh, that it would have been over pens and mascaras.) I decided it would be fun today to share your favorite ___________ ever. By all means, don’t share something that’s been discontinued or you will dangle a plastic carrot in front of your Siestas. Beyond that, it can be anything! (Suitable to this blog, of course) It can be your favorite mascara. It can be your favorite book. It can be your favorite recipe. It can be your favorite meal. It can be your favorite memory. It can be your favorite song. Share ONE FAVORITE THING of yours (only 1!) with your Siestas today. It may mean that some of us find a new favorite something this very day.
Start it like this: My favorite (fill-in-your-blank) EVER is… (then, for crying out loud, tell us)
I think this is going to be fun. I’ll start with a really stupid one.
My favorite lip plumper EVER is Sally Hansen “Lip Inflation.” It’s dirt cheap and it feels like you’ve rubbed Tabasco all over your mouth. If it plumps like it hurts, move over Angelina.
What’s your favorite something, Siestas??

Yes, Yes, Yes, to Jesus Calling. I just downloaded the other one on my Nook so I haven’t gotten a chance to get into it yet
Yes and Amen to Jesus Calling!! Love, love, love that devotional!!! (Dear Jesus and Jesus Lives are her 2 others)
Heaven Calling is similar, written from your Abba’s point of view and more scripture reading, I dig it!
Me, too!!!! It’s a message to me every day, right where I need it!
Sarah Young is used mightily by God in my life. He speaks loud and clear to me through her!
Read it ever morning. Love it goo!
Just ordered that book yesterday!
So, so good! Got it as a gift this past Christmas! And super excited to find out that there is another one! Thanks! ๐

My favorite candy EVER is chocolate covered peanuts or peanut M&Ms! No fancy chocolates can compare in my book!
My favorite eyelash curler EVER is by shu uemura. It’s the only makeup thing I’m faithful to.
TOTALLY agree. If you don’t own one, buy one. Don’t freak out at the cost – it’s worth every dollar and then some.
My favorite picture place is Shutterfly.com! I love it b/c they don’t require you to have an account to store your pictures. PLUS, they never delete your pictures or your account just b/c you don’t buy something! I love being able to make picture albums and greeting cards/announcements/invitations on there. They are very reasonably priced and always have great sales! I can share pictures with friends and family…and they don’t have to have an account to see my pictures. I just love it! You can also order prints from their website and have them sent to any Target! LOVE SHUTTERFLY!
Okay…I misspoke…you do have to have an account to story pictures. OBVIOUSLY! My thoughts got ahead of my typing. BUT….when you share photo albums with friends and family from your account, THEY do not have to create an account to see the pictures! That’s what I love!
I do a photobook every year with them for the coffee table and get a ton of compliments and it is a great discussion starter. And it is so easy. Love shutterfly too!
I love Shutterfly too!!
My favorite things is (are) … my pups, who growl at me when it’s time for attention.
How sweet… I love my pups to! I have one who makes the cutest whine when she wants my attention…
My 4 month old corgi named Myrtle Mae does the growl thing too and is irresistible, she kinda talks to us for attention.
What a hoot…love my pups too…my long haired chihuahua tugs at my pant leg when I’m walking…
My favorite frozen meal EVER is Trader Joe’s vegetable burritos. I’m fully, healthy, and only out about $1.50.
I guess it’s because I’m trying to lose 20 pounds before both of my precious girls’ graduations this spring, one from college and one from high school, that the first thing that popped into my mind is my favorite pastry is chocolate croissants from Williams Sonoma. They come to your door packed in dry ice and they look like little hot dogs. Put them out at night and the next morning they are absolutely gorgeous plumps of dough. After baking for 20 minutes they are the flakiest, melt in your mouth pastries filled with decadent chocolate! OK, I’ve going to go work out now!!!
It could be a very bad thing that I read this!
Put down the Chocolate and back away……nobody gets hurt………:)
My favorite concealer EVER is Erase Paste by Benefit. Miracle. Worker.
(I started using that mascara after Melissa blogged about it. I was obsessed with it and am equally heartbroken. How could they?)
My new favorite mascara is Maybelline Falsies Volume Express. It has replaced my old favorite, which I thought could not be beat, the Maybelline one in the pink tube with the lime green top.
Me too!!! Love it!
I was also going to say that my favorite mascara is Maybelline Great Lash with the pink tube and lime green top! It covers well, yet does not feel heavy on my eyelashes like some do. It’s also cheap and can be found anywhere–Walmart, Walgreens, etc!
My favorite mascara is Maybelline Colossal Volume express!!!! (love this post Beth!!! – having so much fun with it!!!)
My most favorite store EVER is Coldwater Creek. I live on a very tight budget and they have the best clearance website EVER and I am able to buy amazing clothes for outlet + 50% off prices. (ie: $125 jacket for $25.00!)
My favorite lipstick EVER is Rose Quartz from Hemp Organics! It is a lighter frosty color that I wear over different really dark lip liners for an awesome effect! I am a lipstick girl…and it is the one thing I can never leave the house without it on!
This is fun!

RICH TIME!
Me and my daughter are doing the same. I love it.
My favorite pants are my Target (Merona brand) yoga pants. All color, sizes and you can wear them just about anywhere. I put on a nice sweater and boots with them at Christmas, so I can have room for, um, all the food I can eat. Fabulous!

“What do they think I am? Dumb or something? Why, I make more money than – than – than Calvin Coolidge! Put together!”
**love this movie!**

Girl, Yellow Box flip flops are awesome!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Yellow Box flip flops. They are so comfortable and stylish.
I’m an Eliza B flip flop fan. You can custom order any combination on-line.
Everyone should have a pair of Yellow Box–life changing!
I TOTALLY agree! I thought my daughter was crazy when she wanted me to pay $20plus on flip-flops – until I tried them, too! Luv, luv, luv ’em!
Not when you have a narrow foot ๐
oops! That would be 2 of them, thus narrow feet!
My favorite book that I read at least once a year is “4:8 Principle” by Tommy Newberry. It is based on philippians 4:8.
Loved it too!!
My favorite hair product is Redken Smooth Down “Sleek Obedience”…great for shine and to tame down those annoying little stray frizzy strands of hair that have a mind of their own!!
My favorite desert EVER is Little Debbie’s Easter Puffs! They only come out once a year, so I do not eat too many and gain weight, and they taste HEAVENLY!
My favorite fiction book ever is . . . Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Truly could not put it down!
I almost never read fiction, but someone convinced me I just had to read that book. I lost sleep because I couldn’t put it down either! Definitely a compelling picture of Redeeming Love.
LOVED that book!!!
That is an amazing book, but I believe Francine Rivers is a very talented author.
My favorite book too! Ay!
I love that book also. You need to read her new series A Mother’s Hope and Her Daughter’s Dream. Along the same lines of Redeeming Love. Couldn’t put them down.
I just finished that book. I couldn’t stop. Didn’t get any laundry done all week! Finally stayed up until 1:30 Friday morning- determined to finish it. I did. Cried myself to sleep.
Love that book. I could not put it down either. I have recommended it to everybody
I have never met so many people who have said that is their all time favorite book. It was probably the most anointed work of fiction I’ve ever seen.
oh. my. goodness….LOVED this book so much I had to purchase two more to pass on. (I couldn’t give mine up due to the tear / mascara stains in the pages!)
Yes! I have a friend who had her second child after or during reading this one! Makes you just love a good God fearing man!
Oh wow! I just posted a long comment on the last page of comments about this book and why it’s my favorite book ever! God used it tremendously in my life!
loved it too
My favorite place to eat chicken Fajita’s is Los Palomas in BonneyLake. You can hear them sizzling all the way from the kitchen to greet you. Absolutely delicious ๐
I have a pair of brown Justin boots that I love. They’re my favorite shoe. They are coming apart, and I need to have them resoled, but I don’t want to let the shoe man have them for a week! I wore them on my first overseas mission trip last summer, and those shoes have walked miles with me, knocking on door after door, sharing my faith. I will never get rid of them, ever.
WOW!
What a blessing!!! Shoes that saved “SOULS” : )
My favorite episode of Andy Griffith EVER: The Pickle Story. Gotta love those “kerosene cucumbers”. ๐
oooh that is a good one. Good ole Ange and Barn!!
My dad has been with the Lord for over ten years. One of my favorite memories of him is this: Whenever he had to spank me as a child (the Lord knows it was many times)afterwards Dad would tell me to stay in my room. In a little while he would come back. He wanted to make sure I understood the reason for my punishment and then reassured me of his love.
My favorite goodie is a hot oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. My daughters now exceed my talent for making these scrumptiously delicious cookies. Here is the recipe. The secret is to not overbake them…
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Mix:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
Add:
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 cups flour
Stir in last:
2 cups Old Fashioned Quaker Oats Oatmeal
1 bag chocolate chips (may be semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
Roll in balls (about 1 and 1/2 tablespoons)and
bake in a 350 degree oven for 8 to 12 minutes.
MMMMMM good!
I love oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I’m going to have to try this recipe.
My Favorite Mascara EVER is Voluminous Original by L’Oreal.
Please tell me that’s not the one that has been discontinued!
I’m just today taking the Monday Challenge from Feb. 7th. I was wondering what the enemy was going to choose to mess me up.
That is the BEST mascara ever. I have used it for years and years. If they ever discontinue it I just might have a meltdown. Those of you missing your other L’Oreal should try this one.
My favorite grits are from the Flying Biscuit because they are creamy dreamy and can be a meal all by themselves or compliment an already great breakfast or kick the teeth out of shrimp and grits anywhere else!
My favorite comfort food is warm chocolate pudding!!!
Beth, you are too cute. Thank you for the tip on the lip plumper. I have never used lip plumper before, but now I will try it. God forbid my lips get too skinny! : )
I am addicted to body butter. It is so much better than regular lotion. My favorite body butter is Burt’s Bees honey and shea butter. It has a nice light fragrance. Many blessings in the name of our King Jesus, Amy
Favorite ending to a comment…our King JESUS!
My favorite piece of chocolate is a Raspberry Truffle from Godiva!!!
Have you tried their Cranberry Truffle in the fall? Yum! I love any berry and chocolate!
Love Godiva truffles!
My favorite nail polish is Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic. p.s. That Foray pen was my favorite too, Beth. I’m still grieving. ๐
My favorite recipe ever is Ina Garten’s Perfect Roast Chicken. First of all, it really is perfect. Second, it’s easy. Third, it makes my house smell like heaven on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Ina’s was the first cookbook I bought with my own money at the age of 16 and that chicken was the first recipe I made out of the book. I’ve been cooking it so long that I don’t need the recipe anymore but use it anyway, just for fun. The book falls right open to that torn, tattered, splattered page. We shred the leftover meat for enchiladas and use the carcass for homemade chicken soup. Yum!
I feel like Ina Garten taught me to cook! I love that if you follow one of her recipes, you can make amazing things! She has made me feel like I can be a good cook! My favorite recipe is her Beef Bourguignon which even my children love. I make it every Valentine’s Day for the family and it is wonderful!
Amen to that! I just discovered this recipe and it truly is Perfect Roasted Chicken. Blessings to you.
Lynn from Humble:
My absolute favorite cupcakes are the plain vanilla from Crave Cupcake in Uptown Park. Galleria – Houston.
yum yum
My favorite thing EVER is when my still young enough to love on his momma eight year old wraps his chubby little arms around me and holds me till it hurts.
That’s the sweetest thing ever Tammy!
My favorite thing to do ever is to have all my family together for a wonderful meal. Husband, 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and 2 grandchildren.
My favorite candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter cups. I love the “seasonal” ones because you get more! (Peanut buttter eggs, hearts, pumpkins, trees).
Yes!! I love pretty much anything Reese’s ๐
My maiden name is Reece. My grandfather was a Candy man by trade. Gramps had a candy truck and the interior was filled with every kind of candy you could imagine. Peanut Butter cups were the biggest seller. or the wax juice inside and candy necklaces. I LOVED being Kim Reece.
My nickname in grammer/jr. high/high school was BUTTER CUP!!!
Just ONE favorite thing? I have a LOT of favorite things but since we’re only allowed to say one here goes:
My favorite knitting needle is the Addi Turbo round needle. I know it sounds like its a car or something but for those of you who knit this knitting needle is the Ferrari of all knitting needles. Its smooth, knickel plated and has a cable that NEVER twists up.
Please understand, next to the Lord Jesus and studying scripture.. I LOVE TO KNIT!!!
And I bet no one else will have a knitting favorite on this whole post.
Heidi,
Fayetteville, GA
…gasp… I’m JUST learning to knit! Seriously! By “just learning”, I mean that I literally started my first cast on last night. I’m so excited to learn something new. ๐
Me too! I love to crochet and am going to attempt knitting.
Aha! I know all about those Addi needles. ๐ They are awesome. I love to knit too.
gotta check these out…knitting is the best!
I took a knitting class two years ago, but had to sit out due to health complications. But ready to pick it back up again.
Well… I was wrong. I have siestas out there who knit with me. Praise you Jesus!
My favorite memory of my dad is when I was about 6 years old and we would dance together as I stood on his shoes. He would dance me around the kitchen floor and I felt like a princess at a ball! Now that he is gone, I have a pair of his Bostonian shoes (he always wore those) sitting on the floor of my living room. I smile with that memory every time I look at those shoes!
That is beautiful!!! My Daddy passed away four years ago … and I miss him so much. So many things remind me of him! I like the idea of incorporating something into our decor!!
We adopted our two little girls just weeks before Dad passed away … and what I miss the most is the relationship they could have had with him … he would have loved them to pieces.
Thanks for sharing your favorite!!!
Mary ๐
OH how sweet. My precious Daddy has been gone 6 years this past month and oh how I miss him still. I have his roll-top desk sitting in my living room. I can still see him sitting at his desk working on his sermons. Now he gets to see the one he loved so much face-to-face, and that makes me smile.
Jane Mary Yvonne ~
Touched by your sweet comments.
I had ties my daddy wore made into a vest!
My favorite book ever is Beach Music by Pat Conroy.
My favorite snack (currently) are lightly salted rick cakes with honey and peanut butter. OH. MY. GRAVY. It is delicious! Of course, having a whole BOX of honey in the house is probably driving my insanity of putting honey on everything, but there’s worse things, ya know?
One more: my favorite candy is a York Peppermint Patty after it’s been frozen. I’ve been a Snickers girl my whole life, but there is something about that yummy, minty cool, dark chocolate goodness that is almost too good for words! This only started a few months ago, but now I’ve got to have at least one a week!
Chili’s molten chocolate cake!!!! No need to say more!
Susan in Oklahoma City
I’m right there with ya! ๐
So moist and gooey!!๎
Have you tried the new one? Peanut butter Molten Chocolate cake! oh wow!
My family just found out yesterday that Chili’s discontinued their white choclate molten cake. I don’t know if any other molten can compare!
Yes! With the warm peanut butter oozing out of the middle! I have to close my eyes and eat it. Don’t want anything distracting me from the party in my mouth!
Yes……… but can it compare with Chili’s Paradise Pie? No trip to Chili’s goes without dessert!!
I saw it on their menu. Yum!
My favorite day of the week EVER is Saturday Morning. It has to be morning because once you hit Saturday afternoon, the weekend is practically over! ๐
this made me laugh…so true
I am right there with you, girl. That is so me! (smiling as I am typing)
I am TERRIBLE at winnowing any category down to ONE favorite…. This is tough!
Hmmmmmmmm…
Well since we have so many coffee lovers here in Siestaville, I’ll say that my favorite brand/flavor of coffee is Don Francisco’s Cinnamon Hazelnut coffee. It is just perfect! When we lived in AZ, I could find it in most of the grocery stores there, and it wasn’t pricey either. Here in Chattanooga, it is much harder to find. Sigh….
Love and hugs,
Adrienne
