Hey, Darling Things!
I’m working from home today and thought I’d take a little break and let my study-brain relax a minute and tune my heart into Siestaville. Let me tell you how proud I am of you for clocking in with the same general number of 2nd verses as you did your first verses. The hard part is not the start. It’s pressing on all the way through the year to the finish. But, then, like all runners that make it across that beautiful line, we get to celebrate a huge victory that only comes to those who sweat it out. We give all praise and glory to our empowering, sustaining God and sit back for a reflective moment, take a deep breath, and feel His glorious good pleasure. Community will become more and more essential as we realize that, without making a public commitment and running the race beside a host of others in this Scripture memory marathon, we’ll probably fizzle out. There is no doubt in my mind that we’re more successful at this together than we are separately. It’s God’s way.
Yesterday was a really fun day at LPM. I already put this on Twitter but it took about a half a dozen of our staff members to put together additional shelves for the books Melissa has acquired since she last worked within the ministry office.
I have promised Melissa my library when God takes me Home, but if she keeps this up at this rate for the next fifteen years, she’s going to pass me by and I’m going to leave mine to Curtis. (That threat won’t mean much to you but it will get Melissa and her dear brother-in-law sparring again over who gets the books which, in turn, gives me a great laugh.) Amanda has been promised other things like what sits on my left hand. But I might spite them all and live a really long time…with colored hair and firm foundations (and I don’t mean the latter in the religious sense. Or the former for that matter. I cannot find hair color in the Scriptures unless I get to count head coverings which, to me, is not unreasonable. In that way and others like unto it, I am a very submissive woman). We’ll see how that pans out. (The timing of my demise not my hair color.)
The other really cool thing we did yesterday at LPM was preview the movie Courageous. It’s the new movie by the people that gave us “Face the Giants” and it comes out in September. (www.courageousthemovie.com) I will remind you guys about it when the release day gets closer but I can’t wait till then to tell you about it. Sisters, it was so good. I don’t want to give away the story line but I can’t quit thinking about it. They have done such a magnificent job with it. We honestly laughed out loud and cried and cheered. I can hardly wait until it comes out. I think God has something far beyond good, solid family entertainment for this film. I’ve told you guys before that, after retiring from the Army, my daddy ran movie theaters so I love few things on this earth more than good movies and great popcorn. (Yes, we popped corn yesterday. And I ate mine with a Starbucks instead of a coke which was an odd pairing and one I might not venture to combine next time.) The primary message of Courageous is targeted to our men who we all know are also targeted by our very vicious enemy. I really believe I can tell you in advance that the guys in your life will love the movie. Mine will and he’s not easy to please. Courageous scores very low on the cheese factor which we know drives most guys crazy about any form of Christian entertainment or encouragement. I dare say that we may be a tad cheesy in Siestaville but we try to keep our Velveeta loaded with jalapenos.
Lastly, I’ll tell you that we started our January Bible study on Tuesday night with one of the best groups God has ever brought our way. We were flabbergasted. May He be greatly praised and glorified in that sweet sanctuary where He’s met with some of His people so many times. We’ll be talking on here about meeting on Tuesdays but we won’t be talking on here about the material because I’ve established a gag order. Laughing. The on-site participants are previewing a (very little) bit of homework so that their experience will be richer but, for copyright’s sake and for future publishing, we’re going to keep it and the session materials low key. It’s not that we’re hiding something. It’s that it’s just a long way from being finished. I also don’t want hype. Ick. Even well meaning hype from those who are sweetly biased. I just want to study Scripture as God presents it to us in His own good time and His own good way. I won’t actually do the LifeWay taping for this series until late April when we do it with a studio audience and I’ll still write through most of the summer. I am reluctant to keep bringing up the series on here because I don’t want to build it all up in anybody’s mind. A curriculum that speaks to one person can hit another person cold. How this turns out is all up to the Holy Spirit but what I can tell you in advance is that, God willing, we will do our best to know that brief Book of the Bible by the time we’re done. Whether anybody will actually “like” it or not is up for grabs. James isn’t necessarily a party bus.
Well, I’ve had about as much of a break as I can afford today. You’re on my mind every day and I pray for you often.
Oh, and this is one reason I got on here today! You know what we’re doing to stay in the Word this early 2011 but what are each of you doing? (Besides memorizing!) Tell me what you’re studying right now!
I love you guys.
I have the privilege of meeting weekly with special friends praying as a “Mom’s In Touch Group.” We are going to be reading Ann Voskamp’s new book “One Thousand Gifts” together. ‘Taking a Dare to Live Fully Right Where We Are’ with girlfriends. And Siesta Scripture Memory!
Hi Siesta Momma!! Me and four other girls are walking through Ruth by Kelly Minter right now! We are meeting tonight for week 3 and this study has been really speaking to all of us. I just received a text from one of the girls and it said, “This week’s study is stirring my heart, very weepy this morning…” I love that! I love how God speaks to each one of us personally yet differently!! SO in love with our Jesus.
Blessings!
I am studying the book of Revelations study with my hubby and you Beth. WE LOVE IT!!!! We are already in awe and we are only on Chapter 1=)
God is teaching me to TRUST Him more, with my children, my husband and my ministry…He is stretching me and I feel it…trusting is HARD for me, I’m so thankful our loving God is patient with me to no end.
Staying in the Word, it’s my sanctuary, my lifeline, my hope. Currently we are just finishing a study I lead in Dawson State Jail called ” Untying the lies that bind us”, these ladies have just been a joy for me, and that God would gift me with the blessing of watching Him hard at work in the trenches with these gals is a delight I can barely wrap my head around. Next we are doing a Beth Moore study on the book of Revelations called Here and Now, there and then, and the ladies always get excited to do a Beth Moore study, as do I.
In my own quiet time I am doing a Henry Blackaby study” Called and Accountable”, I just wanna make sure I am always watchfull to be heading where God is sending me, and maybe not where I am most comfortable, and that I’m accountable with the calling God has on me. Its funny I fought God for years over serving in prison ministry and now it is just the delight of my life, a real thrill ride.
Oh! I get to see Lysa TerKeurst on the Girls Get Away Cruise! You guys should all go! I blogged about her and it’s great seeing what amazing things she has been blessed to be a part of for the glory of HIS name.. and what she’s up to now.
I love reading through how God is teaching you guys so many awesome things. Thank you, Beth, for asking such great questions so that we can be blessed by others, too!
We just finished reading the book promises of security in our book club and the women are blessed by it. thanks for share your struggles and victory.

I would be much a bilged if I could ossicle sit in on the April audience of James. Please, if possible, let me know how I could be a part. Bless you!
I am in the thick and LOVING the BM JESUS The One and Only study. He has called me to dig deep into the Scriptures to get to know His character and to grow my relationship with Him. I can truly saw I fall more and more in love with Jesus while studying His life.
Love y’all, LPM!
Hey Lori! Those studio audiences will be handled by Lifeway, so you are welcome to contact them about the April taping.
I have been doing the Daniel Fast and have been so blessed by it. The Lord has been soooo Good. I have really found such a new awakening and closeness with Him thru this. God bless you my sweet sister. Am looking forward to our heart-to-heart sisters starting up again in Feb. with our studies from your study of David.
Our ladies bible study @ church is doing “Seeking Him” Experiencing the Joy of Personal Revival by Nancy Leigh DeMoss & Tim Grisson. My husband & I are doing “When God Speaks” in our Life Group by Henry & Richard Blackaby. I’ve been listening to EAT,PRAY,LOVE in my spare time & absolutely loving it. God’s word has been so timely & He seems to be intertwining what he wants to speak to me through all three. He’s so good!
Siestaville!!!
I can’t wait to share what I am learning! I decided this semester (I see everything in school years, it’s goes along with the territory of working at one) to attend Bible Study Fellowship and it is rocking my world! I joke with my friends who work during the day and can’t attend that the leader who lectures is the Colorado version of Beth Moore! She is passionate, loves the Lord, loves his Word and wants to proclaim it out load over 650 women! That’s right, 650 attend! But… I’m off topic. The study is on Isaiah and it is beautiful. It’s hard and sometimes I want to walk away but God is faithful and what I’m learning I will take with me to the grave. This week we focused on 40:1-10 The thought of Jesus, the Shepherd holding us close to his chest overwhelms me with comfort and peace! WOW! Love you all!
Karen from Kentucky, When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Hi Beth!
I came acroos your show this week and was “fed” by your words and passion for your love for our lord Jesus! You triggered something in me that has been asleep for awhile and I am happy to say -I have awakened! I ordered your daily devotional Praying Gods Word”and look forward to your message each day. I have been out of work for 9 days (had surgery on my achilles)am my recovering will be long as well as painful-so they say! I feel so fortunate that Jesus has given me this opportnity to turn it positive-and get me back into spending real quality time with him each day. I feel that he was with me in the hospital holding my hand, and has been each day since my injury.
Feelingso blessed to have him in my life!
A group of us women have recently gotten together through Facebook and are doing an online study of Breaking Free.
I always enjoy the blog posts, dear “Mama”. A visit to the LPM blog is often what I turn to in order to get my “head right” for the day. I’t sort of my warm up exercise for the never-ending efforts at remaining Christ-focused through the day.
Today was no exception…
On another note, I can’t wait to find out when the next study coem out. James, huh? For now, my San Antonio sisters and I are going through the Believing God study. We are on ou 2nd week of homework and are already all fired up about deepening and renewing our faith.
Be blessed!
The study Beth is teaching on the book of James will be taped by Lifeway later on this year, so I would anticipate they would release it sometime in (late) 2012.
Now I want to see “Courageous” something fierce! Upcoming James sounds fantastic too, not to return void, Lord I pray. I have been researching for a small presentation on encouragement in the midst of suffering, so I’ve read Kay’s book, When Hurts Run Deep. I’ve also gotten back into Bible study with my Bible study group. We did half of your Daniel study, took a break, and now we are into the prophecy part. I also started Lysa’s Made to Crave you know:) Lord help me, I am a mess:) and I started your John 90 day devotional. It’s more of a meandering pace with everything. All I know is I’ve got to be in the Word! Have mercy, it’s been a time for me to get into the Word lately. I’m about to go back to listening to the Bible on cd while I feed the baby, change her diaper, and cook dinner:)
Hey Girls!
I’m doing Beth’s Revelation with a friend….we are on Week 8 and it is REALLY Good! Also, doing some Les Feldick with my husband and a dear couple we meet with once a week. Les is in Genesis, but he tends to move all over.
I’m truly enjoying both very much.
Blessings,
b
I am in a group of wonderful, sensitive, caring ladies who are working on your updated “David” Study. We all love it, and as usual, God is speaking to each one of us (approx. 22
ladies) in His own special way. We all look forward to each week to see what God has
in store for us to tuck into our hearts. We hope that we can meet this evening because
we are getting the same storm that is affecting 29 other states. We are getting
ice and sleet instead of snow. In this part of Ohio, we can get either or both. :^(
Just wanted to say how much we all appreciate they way God uses Beth to teach us and
encourage us. We love Him for the way He has gifted her and uses her to lift others.
We always pray for Beth’s protection and blessing. Thank You.
Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take
your stand against the devil’s schemes.
I started (several times) since last summer, Breaking Free, and each time, the Lord impressed on me to ask a friend to join me… she said yes! The amazing thing… she grew up in the church and left it 25 years ago, now observing and practicing Jewish holidays and traditions. She’s knows this is a Christian study and I am so excited to see how God is going to move in her life through this!! If you think of it, pray for her. Her name is Cindy also! Thanks!
Just finished Beth’s study on Daniel through my church and am now starting Let the Nations Be Glad by John Piper. It’s a great study on missions. I’m also reading Beth’s book about insecurity, very insightful. Now that I’ve finished the Daniel study, I might look into the Revelation study!
I am reading through the Bible in a year (NLT Daily Walk Bible.) I’m waiting to see where God leads, and I am focusing on the blessings and “God winks” in my life, each day!
Saw Courageous Sat, Jan 30th! Our church hosts a large pastors conf. and they gave us a sneak preview. What a great movie! What a powerful tool for the body of Christ!
P.S. Just how many people went to chick fil a afterward? hee hee ran into people after the movie at our local one. Once Javier mentioned chicken sandwich, waffle fries and lemonaide the thought was planted in my head. hahaha
She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”
Proverbs 3:15 ESV
Ah Christ that it were possible For one short hour to see The souls we loved that they might tell us What and where they be.
Don’t know what to think of Truex. It seems he is good at certain tracks, but unable to adapt to other ones. I know I do not take him in Fantasy leagues because of his inconsistant performances. Possibly it’s a crew chief deal. Bet NAPA would love to have him, & let Mikey retire as promised.
