Let’s Talk About Bible Study!

I started this post out by typing, “Good Monday morning, ladies!”, but then I realized it was Martin Luther King day, so instead I’ll say, “Happy Martin Luther King day, friends!”

I imagine many of you are at home enjoying some snuggles with your little ones who are out of school, or maybe you’re a teacher who is loving spending a Monday at home as opposed to at school, or maybe, just maybe, you’re like those of us at Living Proof and you made the typical drive to work this morning. Either way, I hope your morning has started out peacefully and wonderfully! A few weeks ago our fearless leader reminded us that working is not a curse! Working is a good thing. So if you’re fighting thoughts of envy today, remember it’s a blessing to be working. Work with some excellence today, despite the way you feel!

Anyway, I completely sidetracked. Typical.

We are in full Tuesday night Bible study mode around here! I promise we’ll try not to wear you out talking about it, but I think it’s safe to say it’s high priority around here, and we joyfully get to serve. But, it got me thinking about you! I know for a fact many of you also started your Spring Bible study here recently and I’d love to hear what you’re digging into this semester. Plus, posts like these always benefit the reader that is looking for a study to do but just needs an idea or two.

So, let’s make our comments easy peasy. I’ll start:

Name: Lindsee

City: Houston, TX

Bible Study: I am participating in the Tuesday night Bible study, Children of the Day, but I am also taking a group of high school girls through Believing God written by our Siesta Mama, Beth Moore.Β

What are you most looking forward to? I am looking forward to watching these young girls learn the five statement pledge of faith and also being reminded of them myself. Praying we would all believe God for immeasurably more this year!

Your turn! No pressure to answer each of the questions, but it adds a little spice, doesn’t it? However, for sure add the Bible study and who it’s by so that if someone is interested in that particular study, they won’t have any problem finding it!

Oh, and I couldn’t log off without sharing a glorious picture with you all from Tuesday evening. I can take zero credit for this picture because someone actually texted it to me after Bible study that night, but I thought it was too fun not to share. Thank you for praying for our first evening! Praise God alone for a room full of ladies studying 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. You would not waste a prayer on our Beth as she concentrates on all things involving this study!

We love y’all so very much.

A study on the book of Numbers by one of our pastors Chris Flickinger.

I am looking forward to learning all of the little things that I miss when I just read the bible. Flick teaches to pick up on those little ordinary words that mean so much in a scripture. He has titled this series “Growing Pains” and I have already learned so much in just two weeks.

PS. This teacher didn’t have students today instead at our school we got to sit in the always “fun” inservice meetings all day.

    I am blessed
    I am chosen
    I am adopted
    I am accepted
    I am redeemed
    I am forgiven
These have been written on my heart since I first studied this five or so years ago!

I’m most looking forward to digging deeper into God’s Word with a group of ladies who want to do that same. I’m always encouraged by doing this together and hearing the different things God has to say to each of us as we work through the study.

I am working through Beth Moore’s Breaking Free with someone who has so generously agreed to counsel me as well. Along with that I am memorizing Romans 1, 8 and 12 through The Romans Project on annvoskamp.com.

I am looking forward to seeing God do some amazing things with these studies. Doing Breaking Free with just one other person allows me to dig so much deeper and I love that possibility. As for the memorizing, the challenge to memorize the Book of James from Beth Moore’s Mercy Triumphs changed my life. It gave me a love for scripture I never thought possible.

Praying for each of you ladies out there as you work through your own studies in the pursuit of knowing Him more deeply.

Thank you Lord for the opportunity to grow in our understanding of Your word.

I will be facilitating Ann Voskamp’s “1000 Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully” on Monday, Jan 25 with our women’s Bible study small group…our last two studies have been both Beth’s: “So Long Insecurity” and “James”. Love this group of ladies!

I am most looking forward to delving into this thought provoking book with others, using the just released study guide. This is my 3rd time reading Ann’s book since May; each time God speaks to me as I am learning how to practice Eucharisteo….finding God in the hard places and giving thanks to Him and finding Joy. We covet your prayers.

I have loved, loved, loved Beth Moore studies! My favs have been Esther and The Book of James. I have a request for Beth. Please do a study on the book of Joshua! I am reading consecutively through the Bible and found this book rich. It tells of the Hebrews once entering the Promised Land. (Isn’t that where we Christians are headed!) Beth can do a fantastic study on this book and I would love to have her insight! Hint. Hint. πŸ™‚

In week two’s homework of Beth’s Believing God! One of our ladies braided us all blue bracelets. So fun. Can I just say Lindsee that I think our Beth has slowed down a bit for her more recent Bible Studies. I think this is the oldest one of hers that I have done and she moves along at the speed of light! And her hair is much bigger! Seriously, though, I love the 5 statement pledge of faith. And after taking the Test of Faith in week two’s homework, I am looking forward to being able to re-take that test at the end of the study and hope to feel a much stronger faith. I’m Believing God sweet siesta! Love to Siestaville!

Seeking a Heart Like His by our Siesta Mama starts February 4th. I took the original a few years ago and I am anxious to start on the updated study.

I didn’t make a New Year’s resolution this year, but I dedicated myself to following a Bible verse. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. I know He has big plans for me this year and this Bible study is a starting point. I’ve already received THAT message, loud and clear!

I’ve already seen God’s hand in giving me direction over some big decisions I’m having to make so I’m excited to see what will be coming. I just feel as though He’s preparing me for something in the future – whether I think it’s good or bad. I know I’m being prepared so that I may help prepare the way for others.

We are in week 8, this study has really helped me walk closer with God. I’ve learned a lot of stuff about myself as well, not all of it good haha. It’s so amazing and life changing how God is using this study in our group!

What I am most looking forward to:
Just to see what God is doing in all of us, there is a lady facilitating it who lost her son to leukemia a few years ago. She is amazing and I wish she could meet or speak with Beth at some point but would never know how to go about all that.
