My Two Favorite Authors Together!

Ladies, I have some very cool news. My two favorite authors are joining up for a “Heart of Texas” book tour on Friday and Saturday. Would you like to guess who they are?

One is our very own Siesta Mama, who will be signing copies of So Long Insecurity. Woo hoo!

The other author is…

…Drum roll please…

Francine Rivers!

Eeeeek! Can you believe it?!?!

I screamed like a little girl when I heard the news.

Ohhhh! That sounds like such a blast! I would want to hug them both! I've read a few FR, love them all but I stand amazed as I read the last book in "Lineage of Grace". God chooses the most unlikely people…..including me. Beth has helped me put it all together many, many times over the past 6 years that I've been doing her bible studies. I'm blessed just knowing those two are friends and will hanging out in book stores blessing all kinds of folks this weekend! I love you both and thanks for your faithfulness.

Francine Rivers is my fave, too! And the first book in the Mark of the Lion series is my favorite novel. Funny thing is that I used to want to use some of the lines in a wedding ceremony in the third novel in my own wedding. But then when I was getting ready for my wedding I read it again and thought, "What was I thinking? Uh, no."

How do you pick a favorite of Francine Rivers? She's amazing. But I must say Leota's Garden was so good, I hated the way it ended. But it really made me think of our culture, our lack of respect for the elderly and euthanasia.

I think I'm like #620 something in line at the library for her new one, ugh, how will I make it waiting that long! ๐Ÿ™‚ I may have to pull my other favorites off the shelf in the meantime!

Nothing has ever changed my life like finding this blog and Beth Moore Bible Studies! I am eternally grateful.

Great fun and lots of excitement today at the book signing in Southlake. I loved listening to all the lively & friendly chatter among the women waiting in line. And I agree with one of the earlier commenters that Ms. Beth embraced everyone like they were her very best friend! I was thrilled to be in line ahead of that cute momma with her darling little girl, Ella, when Ms. Beth stopped, hugged and visited with her sweet friends. I've been smiling all day and looking forward to reading me some good books!

    Beth,
I didn't get to go to the book signing, but my friend Heather took my book, to you. You were my moment closest to Christ this week as you gave me an A+ for doing the assignments. I can tell you I only received an A+ because you are such an excellent teacher. I am amazed by how you see the word of God, and how you breathe life into it. I can not tell you how many times I have just been floored by your God given wisdom – and brought to my knees in humility(again) by God's glory.
    Thanks for answering His call!
Continue in the grace of God,
    Anita
P.S. I just think it was the muddy paw prints in the book that endeared your heart to me.

    Katie says:

Oh man! I was so blessed to have the opportunity to meet Beth in B'ham last month (even though I feel like I totally blew it by not knowing what to say. I was so floored it was actually her when I got up there. This is someone God had used so profoundly in my life…so I opted for silence instead of coming across as a babbling insane person, and I still kick myself over not making a fool of myself over her like I really wanted to!)

Beth, if you are reading this, God has used you to show me how to study His Word for myself, how to personally apply His Word to my life, and how to love Him more than anything in life. I "caught it" from you. I cry just thinking about it…you will never know this side of heaven how much your faithfulness to our God has impacted my life and made me want to chase Him, and serve Him and love Him more. Your passion for Him and His Word lit into me and still burns to this day. THANK YOU!!!

This makes me look forward to the SLI conference in Atlanta! Thanks to my husband buying me tickets for my B-day, I get to be there!

WAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to go to the signing – then I had to go to a 9:30 funeral -hmmmm should I skip it? No, that would be wrong. So then my kids going back to college-wondering why mom is shooing them out the door……get my rainboots on, thinking maybe the crowd will not be too bad because of the rain – grab my Insecurity book, and Atonement Child (daughter stole my Redeeming Love – :)) drive (thankfully only 15 minutes), run in, picturing maybe a one on one conversation, because got a spot up front, run in yea, only 20 minutes left, and no one is there. I see the books, no Beth, no Francine. Asked the lady she said I missed it by 10 minutes, that they had signed all the books. I thought I was going to cry – isn't that dumb? Sniff, Sniif, "but, the website said until 12:00), She kindly offered me signed books but "they wouldn't be personalized." No, thank you. Shuffled out. Pouted all the way home. WAAAAA…….Signed, Houston girl every Tuesday night for 8 years. See you Tuesday, Beth – I will be the one pouting. xo

I am about half way through So Long, Insecurity. This morning I read about being clothed with strength and dignity. I LOVED it! I had been thinking on it all morning and as I was coming out of Wal Mart I saw a car with a bumper sticker that said: You Can't Make Someone Love You. (In my mind I agreed thinking seriously about human love vs God's love). And then I laughed out loud as I read the fine print…..You can only stalk them and see what happens. Good comic relief.

Two of my Bible study friends and I drove 3 1/2 hours from Oklahoma to be at the book signing at Southlake. I just posted about it. We had THE best trip filled with God's favor!

The best part was finally getting to hug Beth's neck and tell her she's precious and to finally get my picture taken with her. (Beth, my friend Shannon was the one who gave you the chiastic structure pendant)

    I captured the sweetest picture for her of you reading it. {{{sigh}}}

Francine Rivers was also very sweet. I am thrilled to have her book signed too.

I am so happy for all the people who get to go meet them and get their books signed. I am almost finished with Her Mother's Hope and know I'm going to be so anxious for Part 2 to come out. I have only read 3 so far, that one, The Scarlet Thread, and Redeeming Love. I dont know if I could pick! I know when I read Redeeming Love I thought it was the best book I had EVER read! She's wonderful!

I was able to go to one of the book signing on Friday. Beth Moore was so true to character. She didn't sit behind the table to sign the books (not that there is anything wrong with that) but she was standing ready to greet each of us with open arms. I am so thankful for my chance to meet the lady who has discipled me and been such an amazing tool in my walk with the Lord. I wouldn't know and cherish Him like I do without you Beth! I would not be so free. I am still growing in wisdom and I am still learning how to share that wisdom with others. If I can one day bless others and be used by God in such an amazing way…oh I long for it! As Beth Moore said, she is passing down the torch. We are the Generation Now. May God make us bold as we are set free from insecurities!

I was texting my friend to see if she was in Dallas (we both live in Stillwater,OK.) and I noticed her in the very restaurant we were in that was practically next door to Barnes and Noble. I texted her that in an hour we had tickets in group A, since my husband and I went early in am to get them and some coffee…well really lattes and they let me get 4 tickets. Needless to say I didn't make it back to Kansas today due to the weather in Oklahoma. Any siesta's along I35 that can let me know what the weather looks like on Sunday morning, would be appreciated. Text me at: [email protected].

Good Grief!!! I totally missed this. Oh well! But, my favorite of Francine Rivers' is Redeeming Love.

I started it the afternoon before my husband got back from a mission trip to Cuba. The kids and I were staying with my parents in the Texas Panhandle (a long way from our Houston area home). When he flew into Lubbock, we met him at the airport and drove home. I knew that I should be listening with amazement to his stories from the trip, but I was ALL WOUND UP in that book.

Finally, he asked what it was about, I gave him a brief summary and read out loud the page I was on. About 30 minutes later, he asked, "What's going on now?". I read another page aloud. 30 minutes later, he asked again. I suggested that I could read aloud for both of us. "Okay..", he pretended to be annoyed. I read…and read…and read.

About 2.5 hours later (and about 50 pages from the end of the book), I look up and ask, "Where are we?" He looks around and says, "I have no idea!"

We were both so caught up in the storyline that we had driven straight through Austin, missing the 290 exit and proceeding to go about 40 miles out of the other side of town! Needless to say, we finished the book before getting hom.

***Larry would DIE if he knew that I told this story in such a public forum!***

Wow, talk about cultural differences. I grew up in a series of small towns without Christian bookstores, and the secular book stores in Canada carry a copy of the King James Bible and the lastest by Deepak Chopra to create a 'spirituality section.' I had never heard of Francine Rivers.

I checked through Francine's website, and after reading through the comments here I think I'll order Redeeming Love. Of course I have heard of that author, Beth Moore :).

Hope the book signings are a blast, I'll say a prayer for you.

Ok – I am in PA and not part of Siesta Sisters BUT I LOVE BETH AND I LOVE FRANCINE RIVERS. Francine's book "Redeeming Love" was powerful. In light of the book "So Long Insecurity", I think it is worth mentioning that the closing part of the book where she begins to remove her clothing as she walks toward Michael speaks volumes to her losing her insecurity and finding it just where she needs it! (sorry for revealing the last part of the story) This was so significant to my life. Thank you Francine!

"Redeeming Love", of course! This was a favorite book when we had a discussion once about recommended books by any author! Love it! Almost made me cry! Probably would have made me cry if I wasn't still so shut off emotionally. Really wish I could find the switch! Been trying for years!

    I captured the sweetest picture for her of you reading it. {{{sigh}}}

Francine Rivers was also very sweet. I am thrilled to have her book signed too.

I was in Dallas last weekend on a "sister trip" with my 3 sisters and mom. We went to Barnes and Noble (where we got in trouble by a college kid for being too loud) ๐Ÿ™‚ and I saw a sign that said, "Beth Moore and Francine Rivers book signing, March 19". OH, how I wish our sister trip would have been one week later!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Beth Moore and Francine Rivers both! I am so happy for all the people who get to go meet them and get their books signed. I am almost finished with Her Mother's Hope and know I'm going to be so anxious for Part 2 to come out. My favorite Francine Rivers book is Redeeming Love. It's also my favorite fiction book of all time! I just love it!! Happy book signing!

I just finished Leota's Garden yesterday and it was awesome!! I wasn't even sure I would like it based on the back cover but I was at Lifeway and they were out of The Atonement Child (which was what I was planning on getting). Anyway, it was wonderful!

We just happened to be in Dallas visiting my son who lives here. I checked the blog and saw your announcement of the book signing. Well I had bought 3 books but wasn't able to get one for my daughter, Holly. Anyway… I was the one with the Go Away …. book.. Thanks.. it was great to meet you!! We are doing Esther right now.. our Bible study girls will love the story.
