A Little SSMT Quiz

Ladies! Our SSMT Celebration is right around the corner, and believe me, we know it is on your mind because it is on our minds, too! Like, all the time. Grin.

SO, before we get any further I do want to clarify that this is NOT the post for registration. We are working on that and will have it up very soon (read: hopefully this week!), but we are ironing out a few quirks and we’ll have it up and ready to roll!

However, we didn’t want to leave you hanging and we also want to hear from you!

First and foremost, the date for our SSMT Celebration is official Saturday, January 18th. Yes! We’re mixing things up and going with a one day event, instead of the Friday – Saturday plan. So, as you’re planning, plan to be here for sure from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM that lovely Saturday.

With that said, here are a few questions for you:

1) Are you planning to attend?

2) Have you attended in past or first time?

3) For those that have previously attended, what is your favorite memory to share, especially for those that have yet to attend?

As you’re thinking ahead, just a reminder that Β the actual celebration event is free of charge as your β€œticket” is your worn out spiral, but when discussing finances, be sure to consider two things, traveling and lodging. (More travel and hotel information is found in the FAQ page when you register.) We are so excited to have Travis leading worship with us again this year, as well.

Alrighty, y’all. Let’s hear from you! And be checking the blog regularly for registration updates and more details! We love y’all dearly.

SOOOOO super excited about attending the SSMT celebration!! My daughter is coming with me. We both went last time, too. I LOVED the cookies last time! And I loved writing our verses on that board. Also, I loved the topic…Satan taking back ground. I’ve still got my dirt in a little Ozarka water bottle in my closet. What a fabulous weekend!! Can’t wait to come back and celebrate!!!

    Denise Wilkin says:

    Greetings,
Yes, I am looking forward to attending.
Yes, I have attended the last two.
My favorite memory is attending with my daughter and best friend, worshipping together, learning together and showing our Love for The Lord together by hiding His Word in our hearts and being accountable to each other for all 24!
I must tell my second favorite memory because I hope we can include this somehow in the next one. As we visited over hot cocoa and treats with other women and they shared a little about their lives, the significance of how God had used the verses they learned was so powerful and inspiring. Their stories were all different and unique with some pain and heartache as well as miracles and inspiration but overall, the Word was used powerfully in each life. I am always motivated and excited to see God use the very verses I have learned to minister to someone else and there they are in my heart and on my tongue. (They impacted me first, that is why i chose the ones I did)I have no idea how this could work, but if just a few could write their stories, briefly, and Beth could share them…….POW! For the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power. Anyway something I have been thinking about since last time. There it is, take it or leave it because I trust in your leadership and the Holy Spirits guidance in your life. So excited to be attending again!

    Suzy E. says:

    1. Yes!!!

    2. I’ve been once before and LOVED it!

    3. My favorite memory – well there are two favorite memories. First, I was so touched by the blackboard that was in the hall where everyone wrote their favorite scripture from that year’s memory work. It was a powerful statement of God’s word being hidden in some hearts and pouring out to touch others. Beautiful!!

Second, there is nothing in the world like worshipping with a room full of women that LOVE God’s word and are not afraid to show it. So the times of worship were just over-the-top.

I went by myself – did not know a single other soul there – so I want to encourage others to come, even if they don’t have someone else to come with them. I felt right at home with all those wonderful women – and had no trouble finding someone who would listen to my verses. We all had that strong connection of God’s word running through us to bind us together. It was a great time!

    1. I am planning to attend

    2. This will be my second time to attend – third time as a SSMTC

    3. I loved the ‘community’ feeling we all had two years ago. Praise & Worship, teaching by Beth, new friendships. A wonderful experience!

  9. 109
    Shelly Elston says:

!) Yes, I’m planning on attending and I am so excited!

    2) No, this won’t be my first SSMTC. I attended the last one.

    3) It’s hard to share just one favorite memory because the entire weekend was so much fun. I think the one memory that stands out the most is looking around me and seeing SO MANY WOMEN huddled together reciting Scripture to one another. We had all worked hard to memorize those verses over the previous year and to see that sight choked me up. I absolutely loved how kind and supportive everyone was of each other. Such a wonderful weekend of GRACE.

    Karlys says:

    1. Yes, I am planning to attend.

    3) favorite memories: Travis leading worship – no one else takes me to the throne of God quicker; and just seeing all these people who have hid God’s Word in their heart…..it’s inspiring, humbling, and knocks me to the knees in awe.

    Linda says:

    1. I don’t know if my daughter and I will attend this time. We haven’t talked about it yet. We just went to Africa on a missions trip together (she goes twice a year for the ministry she works for) and haven’t looked that far in the future. I will say I am sad that it’s only one day this time!!!

    2. Yes, we’ve attended both of them in the past.

    3. I loved the first SSMT gathering the best. It was fun for all of us to wear pink feather boas, meet other Siestas in the airport and around Houston and get a photo with Beth. With both SSMT gatherings, it was amazing to travel with my daughter and great to hear all the women reciting verses at the same time. It’s just been heart changing to memorize scripture with women all over the globe. Thanks for the opportunity to do so!

    2. Have never been

  16. 116
    Beth Beutler says:

I did attend last time and it was a neat experience overall. I’m not sure I’ll make it this time around. I encourage those who have never gone to give it a try. I didn’t really know anyone but it worked out fine. I met someone that I think originally connected via Twitter with the hashtag that was being used, and we spent most of the time together.

Lindsee, I do have one suggestion based on my experience but I’m not sure the forum is the proper place to share it. Is there a way to contact you privately by email? It’s not a huge deal, but something I think could maybe be implemented for future events.

    Thanks!

  17. 117
    Sherry says:

    Thanks for the post!
I went last time, loved seeing all the women saying their verses, and seeing the wall with posted verses all over it!
Likely wont come if just one day…hard to justify the flight and hotel for one day! We’ll see ….not sure…will hate to miss! If my peeps and I don’t get to come, would love to tune in some how! If not, totally understand!

    1. Probably going to attend (if my out-of-state friends are coming in). Probably not if it’ll be just me (again).

    2. I came alone in 2011. While I’ve often come to the Tuesday night bible studies by myself, it’s harder to come to the Siesta gatherings solo.

    1. YES!! With my best buddy which is so exciting.
    2. Twice
    3. So many!

    Listed in no particular order..:-)

Year 1- Meeting in Beth’s Sunday School class with only 500 (that felt like 100.) The a-z message from Psalm. The T-shirts were awesome too. Sneaking into the sanctuary and praying where so many of our studies were filmed. Travis and his ipod band. Meeting the Lproof staff. Not being able to get any words out when speaking to Beth and her telling me it was her privilege and staring into those giant eyeballs of hers for a second. πŸ™‚ and then crying because she means so much to me and loves us like her own.

Year 2- Beth reciting the 5 statements of faith at the end of a prayer and her telling us how much they mean to her too. Beth reciting with fire the passage we were studying. The love Vangy bags were adorable! Thanking Kimberly for praying for a friend’s daughter.

If you go to top of this page & click on Siesta Scripture Memory Team 2013 you will get the information about what we’ve been up to this year. Great stuff!! Welcome πŸ™‚

I would love to attend. It sounds great. I am very new to the blog and am working with my daughter on memorizing the book of James for our homeschool. Here is the thing, my beautiful older daughter will be marrying the man of her dreams (and ours for her) on that lovely day January 18th. Perhaps next year will be my time. I pray God’s Spirit will descend upon your day and fill you up with a longing to know Jesus Christ like never before!

I attended the last one by myself. Had a Blast!!! This time, my two sisters are coming with me because I can’t think of anyone else I would rather share this experience with.

My favorite memory was at the end of the weekend when we paired with another Siesta (I met a wonderful woman from Colorado, I live in Alabama, we still stay in touch through social media)She had attended by herself too so we got to know each other. This was our last goodbye but we held on to each other and told each other, through tears, that if we don’t see one another in this life again then we will see each other in heaven. It was, I don’t know, such a sacred moment for me. God’s blessing was all over it and I will never forget it.
