Siestas! We are less than two weeks away from our Siesta Scripture Memory Team Celebration! In case you realized how much of a mouth full that is, that is why we lovingly refer to it as the SSMTC around here. Grin.
With Christmas, New Years and Passion 2012 behind us, we are looking very forward to the celebration, especially because of how quick it will land on us. Sometime during the next week be looking for a fun FAQ post about the weather, food and all things regarding Houston, but until then, we want to hear from you.
We are anxious to know who completed the scripture memory challenge on this blog EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING TO COME TO THE CELEBRATION. That just means that you have your spiral filled with 20-24 scriptures, posted your verses on the blog, and have hidden the Word in your heart, we want to know who you are.
If this applies to you (and you completed the commitment), weβd love for you to comment and tell us three things:
1) Name:
2) City:
3) Are you coming to the celebration? Yes or No. (Because we want to acknowledge and celebrate you either way!)
Remember, this is for anyone who completed the 2011 scripture memory challenge! When we say there is NO condemnation for those who didnβt finish please hear us loud and clear: there is no condemnation or guilt! We just love a good party here at LPM and want to celebrate with you.
So, even if you have no plans to come to the celebration, but have completed your memory work, let us hear from you!
We love yβall dearly. T-minus 11 days. We cannot wait!
P.S. Some of you have been looking for the SSMT FAQ page, here is the link to help you out.

I have my spiral with its 24 Scriptures in it. I did post each one twice a month. They all have the word “heart” in them. It was a wonderful time spent in the word. All the best for your celebration. You can send some Houston heat up to the GTA if you like!

Lindsey
Fuquay-Varina, NC
I will be 38 weeks pregnant at that time and unable to travel. Huge bummer but hope you girls have an amazing time! π
PS – My spiral of verses is in my labor bag, I have a feeling I’m going to need those verses I’ve memorized about being brave and having no fear π
Wouldn’t it ROCK if baby arrived on the 20th or 21st! π I had a couple of key verses that I printed in HUGE type and slipped in a couple of page protectors for labor. (that’s for all three of my birhts.) I’m so excited for you that the Lord gave you your verses to memorize because my page-protected verses never came out of the birthing bag YET the WORD sustained me through hard and natural labors. BLESS YOU, SIESTA as you enter birth-land in the next soon days!
I’m so glad I have them memorized too! I’ve been saying them over and over the last few days when I’ve been on the verge of freaking out! π
Lindsey – Your post about using your verses during labor reminded me of the delivery of my first child π I, too, had verses I’d meditated on and memorized, and, let me tell you, girl, it was amazing how God met me there!!! I still had the typical long labor of a first time mom (and 2 hours of pushing!), but it was a beautiful experience that I wouldn’t change at all! I also had praise music that played even during my transition time – the doctor delivering me was singing along with it π Sweet memory!
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. That baby girl is now 15 so I don’t think of her birth often π Know that I will be praying for you as you bring that blessing from God into this world. May His Presence bring you peace that passes all understanding, may you have no doubt that you have not been given a spirit of fear, and may our gracious God be glorified in it all!
awww that is so sweet! I definitely need that peace right now! I’m working on a playlist for the iPod with lots of praise music! π

Chrissy Myal

My entire Women’s Ministry Leadership took the challenge and we did it together- completing ALL 24 verses in 2011! Whoooot HOoooot! We had all planned on taking a road trip to come to the celebration together, however the ten of us faced some financial restraints and had to let it go and not join in the celebration in Houston. What a joy it would have been to celebrate with so many!! We are overjoyed anyway with what the Lord did in our lives this year! THANK YOU!
Janice Rempel
Steinbach Manitoba Canada (YAHOO!)
Not coming… but memorizing the various verses that refere to ‘stand firm’ this year in Scripture.
Janice- Your name makes me think just maybe you have mennonite background too. My grandpa Reimer
was one of the founders and first teachers at the now-gone Winkler Bible School that I bet you have heard about in your area. So so cool to know you have memorized too- I am alone here in memorizing-all the ladies think it is just too hard and can;t get their brains wrapped around it: also too hard to commit to the challenge. But oh what a wonderful rich blessing they have missed, eh? ! I use each of these verses that the Lord has directed me to in prayer at least twice a week over others or myself. This is my second time around – 2009 also – unfortunately can;t attend this year in Houston either. Want to come within a few years to Winnipeg to visit my one remaining old aunt. May the Lord bless others thru you with these His Words embedded in your heart as you shine for Him.!
