Oh how I love when you do video entries…I’m with you – they are so much more personal, and informtive! I am a fellow notebook-nerd (nerd is a compliment to me, not an insult πŸ™‚ and I felt like God was speaking directly through you to me regarding annoyance…I need to work on this area at the moment! (I love how Proverbs speaks to so much more than you even expect! I’m working my way through your Proverbs video/audio currently….sooo good!) I am praying for the James study and sooo excited to tackle it after it is released! Blessings and Love to you Beth!

    Erin says:

Thanks for the fun update. Praise God the study of James is done…I cannot WAIT to get it in my hands and study it with my girls! The verse in Proverbs has been underlined for me lately…God knew I needed a reminder!

    Joyce Watson says:

Thanking God for you and your ministry. Will keep Amanda in my prayers. What a wonderful plaque and how creative.
I’m guilty…of looking up words in the dictionary/ commentaries etc. I have all these note-taking books that I keep writing in and none of them are filled up.

You would be excited to know God is blessing your Bible study “When Godly People Do Ungodly Things” this week. There were 10 ladies that came and they really opened up.
Even though I am listening to the videos a second time, it always amazes me how I learn something new and cannot remember hearing some things the first time. I loved how you describes the birth of Amanda and how precious she was to you.

Words can hurt or heal. I pray that God gives me words that encourage, bless others and honor God.
Thank you, Beth for your sweet words that speak to my heart. You are a blessing always!

The essence of the mind of Christ was humility and sacrificial love for others, while the essence of unregenerate human mind is selfishness and pride. Jesus Christ’s life provides the perfect example of humility. He humbled himself to become obedient to God’s will, which led to His death on the cross Phil. 2:7. Jesus urged His followers to humble themselves before God. It is a yielding of the heart.

    Joyce Watson says:

oops, I said Amanda and I meant Melissa, so I will keep both of them in prayer. Beth, you never get your two girls mix up do you? lol

    Melanie Miller says:

    Beth,
Rejoicing with you over James! I will pray for Melissa as she nears the finish line. Our pastor just started a series on James two weeks ago. It is great timing. I saw the sample on the all access blog today and I am excited about the change in style. It’s gonna be good!

Your hair looks good, but thanks for clarifying what was different. Grin.

The LPM sign from Renee is so cool! Very creative!

How I wish I was going to Salt Lake in two weeks! Maybe next year you can come back to Boise? Praying for God’s Spirit to show up mightily in Columbus & SLC!

    Love to you!

When I got home from working 12 hours today , I opened the new LifeWay flyer that had come in the mail and on page 3 there is a picture of JAMES MERCY TRIUMPS…AVAILABLE NOV. 1st !! Now to top that I got to hear from you. LOVE the video greetings… and a shout out to RENE for the awesome LPM plaque.

    Love, Linda

  7. 57

Oh heavenly day … I was doing great with the notebooks and Rene’s sweet gift, but then Proverbs hit me square in the eyes. I’m in the middle of a kitchen remodel and let’s say … easily annoyed right now. I went to bed last night feeling just rotten over my ‘short fuse’ with my sweet girls.

God’s mercies new every morning … thank you, Lord. Thanks for the word, Beth!

    amybhill says:

so funny about the notebooks. i once worked for a lawyer (who later became a judge) who was OBSESSED with notebooks. i was his right-hand girl so i am like the best darn notebook-maker you have ever known. i thought you would think that was funny b/c your grandfather was a lawyer and you wanted to be a lawyer at one time.

  9. 59
    Amanda says:

I was watching the video, and I clapped with you and was so happy about James and my husband walked up behind me…I turned around and he said, “what are you doing?” I paused the video explained and he shakes his head and walks off like I’m the craziest person in the house πŸ˜‰
so I had to rewind the last part and play it just as he was walking through the room again

  10. 60
    Kathy says:

I love notebooks, too, and after hitting save on the computer, I love printing the newest thing I have written or revised, and hole punching it and filing it in the appropriate notebook.

And,I love pencils! Notebooks and pencils, and I like my notebooks to have O rings, not D rings.

Thanks for sharing a few fun things with us on yet another hot, hot summer day!

Congrats on finishing writing James, maybe we will hear from Melissa when she finishes her part?

  11. 61
    Amy Beth says:

You are the cutest thing ever.

P.S. — My foster daughter turned 18 this weekend. πŸ™‚

    Georgia Boone says:

Annoying – Pride…..new concept to me. It is approx 10:45 pm here in MI and I could have used that word of advice earlier….I was annoyed at my man!! Oh well, I am sure I will get to use it tomorrow…God has a way of letting me redo my tests.

Loved the hair and lipstick. HOWEVER….long sleeves!! Isn’t it hot in TX???? I keep seeing 100’s on the news. I think I’m hot here in MI with 90’s..which is unusual for us to be quite that hot!! Lots of humidity too…..darn curls!

Will lift Melissa up in prayer as she finishes. Looking forward to the study.
BLessings for a great rest of the week and a special blessing on all for the event this weekend in Columbus.

    natalie says:

thank you for such a refreshing word…i LOVE that verse in proverbs. i needed to hear it. desperately. after my littles continued to get out of bed for this & that tonight…i needed to be reminded to not be so quick to be annoyed. thank you again & blessings to you all.

    Diane says:

    Thank you so much!

I have a prayer request ahead of your SLC LPL event. Some of our youth group members were away for the annual youth mission trip. The mom of one of our youth group girls died in her sleep, and she needed to return from the mission trip early. She is going to be encountering many unexpected “firsts” in the coming weeks and months. Please keep her in your prayers, you can call her “sweet gal” in prayer before God –He already knows the precious-hearted soul you’re praying for.
    Thank you so much!

  15. 65
    Cheryl says:

Uh oh. Flashback to earlier this afternoon when I was getting on my high horse… Thank you for the reminder that annoyance is another way of showing pride. That was definitely what I was feeling today when I got cranky. I needed this reminder. Thank you, Beth!

  16. 66
    Becky says:

Love your hair! I think you look younger with your bangs off your face. Have to say your hair was the first thing I noticed..ha ha. I was like “Whoa! Beth’s letting her hair grow!”. lol. Love and prayers for you! πŸ™‚

  17. 67
    Casey says:

OuCH. I needed that scripture today. I will be plastering that one on the inside of my eyelids.

So grateful for the James study and can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Mama Beth, I just love ya to pieces and am so very grateful that God allows so many of us to learn from your teaching.

  18. 68
    Sarah says:

Beth, I really enjoy getting to watch your video messages. It’s a nice change up! Thank you for the encouraging words today!

    Maria says:

Oh my gosh I LOVE BINDERS TOO!! hahaha…I was in the store where they have back to school supplies and I was actually looking for a fresh box of crayola crayons to smell…lol..and than I found those pencil erasers that go over the yellow 5 pencil… I wanted to buy schools supplies just to smell the lead and crayons…memories ..loved back to school days…love when you post a video!!! So happy your finished..praying for Melissa…

  21. 71
    Tina says:

WAHOO on James being finished! We just prayed for that tonight as I put my little one to sleep. I can’t wait to read it.
I had just prayed today, in my car as I was playing taxi driver, that God would let me know what verse to pick for this month’s memory verse. Yes, I’m a little behind as it’s already August 9th. I was having a hard time and wanted HIM to show me what it should be. Well…He definitely told me that the Proverbs verse should be it! I have the hardest time not showing my annoyance on my face! Thank you for that “word” today!

  22. 72
    Christy T. says:

HAHAHA. You crack me up! Honestly, I just grin the whole time.
And I’d like you to know that I’m always watching your videos with my dog (lab/shepherd mix) underfoot (because that’s where he always is), and there is always something that makes him jump around. Last time it was the jingle of Star’s collar, and this time (if you can believe it), it was the doorbell in the beginning! I had to pause the video to go open the door so he’d see no one was here and stop trying to bark and wake up the sleeping baby!
Amen on the completion of James, and the continued prayers for Melissa. I cannot wait to do this study. I love the book of James despite what Martin Luther thought about it.
And thanks for that word. Guilty for sure. Totally pride.
    Love to you, Ms. Beth!

Hi Beth, Thanks for touching base with us and encouraging us to watch our displays of easy annoyance (my facial expressions? um, ouch, hallelujah!– yes, I need to watch that!) I can’t wait for the James study and btw, who is Kay Mack? I’m probably just clueless, but I didn’t know exactly who you were referring to. Love you, Beth! God Bless you!!!

Awesome psalm! I may put that one to memory in a few days. I am excited for another notebook to be made by you next month when it will finally be my turn to go to Living Proof Live in Lubbock! Yay to your white notebooks full of truth and light! πŸ™‚

  31. 81

Just purged some of my old writing today. Notebooks be gone! Gulp.

Congrats on finishing James!! We’re doing a James read-along on my blog in September. Feeling compelled to memorize the whole book. Double gulp.

I live in Columbus, and I’m working on a way to get to see you this weekend. If not, I’ll be praying for you!!

    Natalie says:

Did God whisper in your ear that Natalie needed a little word about annoyance?? I have been so easily annoyed lately and I don’t really know why. As soon as I heard you read that verse, I knew it was time for me to listen up! Thanks for the reminder and encouragement.
Btw, I have a thing for notebooks too!

Ah Beth, what a bright spot in the day you were. Thank you for that verse. I was encouraged by it greatly. You’ll know someday what it meant to me :0) . And now, for a very important, crucial question…where do you find your adorable tops? They are so sweet. Guess they suit the wearer.

Bless you, Beth. I continue in prayer for you.

    Sarah Marion says:

We had a house fire this weekend so I am watching your video from a hotel room. No one was hurt and we are so thankful. I loved hearing from you today as I was feeling alone and annoyed by our circumstances. I think I have my next scripture verse to memorize!

    Praying for endurance for Melissa.

    Molly says:

Beth and Team…Y’all shine so much light!! Keep on keeping on for the JC-man…..thanks for letting Him use you and thank you even MORE for sharing what He teaches you.

    Texas in the Mountains says:

It is SOOOO good to see you! Praise God for His faithfulness to bring you to the (almost) end of yet another Bible study.
I think I like the look of your bangs off to the side…
I loved your word, Mama Beth, but now I HAVE to ask, how do you watch over your facial expressions? I wear my heart on my sleeve and my thoughts on my face. How do I develope a poker face?
    I really want to know!

What fun and encouragement to watch the update! Just started Jesus The One and Only – melting my heart and I am just on Day 4 of the 1st week. Thank you for the awesome job you do in these Bible studies – the glory is God’s alone – just thanks for your willingness to serve in this way. Glad to hear about the James study – WooHoo.
BTW – my daughter (17) totally enjoyed the last update (pale lips, dramatic eyes). You are a hip Siesta Mama!
Praying for your time in Columbus.

  42. 92

I am such a notebook geek; I just put together another one tonight! I think there are more than a few of us around who love us an organized notebook.

Congratulations on finishing the hardest part of your manuscript; I throughly enjoyed the study and look forward to the completed version! Melissa is a deep and interesting thinker, I am looking forward to seeing how God speaks to her to expand on an already rich study. I enjoy the process of helping put together a message; the prayer, the brainstorming and research; I love it all. Even more special is experiencing God’s orchestrations and seeing who and how people are touched so personally by Him in how He uses you to speak to them, each hearing a unique message in the one that He gives you. I hope this weekend’s event is a great experience for everyone, from you all the way to the person in the farthest reaches of the facility. May you all experience God in a powerful and intimate way, individually and corporately.

Proverbs is such a great reminder. It is so true! If I find myself easily or quickly annoyed, chances are it is because I have a root of pride and have made something all about me. Pride is so hard to completely extinguish; it’s a weed that just keeps raising it’s ugly head in many disguises to hide it’s roots from being pulled up completely. Thankfully, God gave us a natural and powerful weed killer in the Word. It takes consistent application to keep the weeds under control ; )

I hope you and Melissa find joy in the process of your projects this week.

Much love you and the LPM Siestas!

  43. 93
    Tara G. says:

Living in a culture where rudeness is the rule of thumb, that verse is a wonderful reminder. As I interact with the nationals, it’s so important to remember that I am interpreting from an American point of view and need to respond not only as a gracious guest in this country but as an ambassador of Christ. Thank you for sharing that!

Secondly, and I hope this isn’t offensive- you looked like Kathie Lee! I thought your hair looked just fine! πŸ™‚

Love the notebooks- why would anyone want to organize any other way?! I can’t but them here and have had to send people at home out and about to pick up the exact ones I want to mail me!

  44. 94
    Warm in Alaska says:

Oh, oh, oh! What a fun post! Not least of which is because I, too, am a notebook fanatic! So much so. I keep notebooks for everything. Just the other day I moved some things around in my house and decided my hefty 3 hole punch contraption should maybe go in a desk drawer, not sit right out in the middle of the dining room. I felt so sad putting it out of sight. I’d rather look at it than a center piece. (Weird, I know).

Also – a mighty big THANK YOU for the chit chat about how you and the Lord work together on your messages. I’m one of those who’s periodically asked for you to elaborate on the process – so, thanks for that!

And one last note: the verse from Proverbs was very apropos (like usual). It reminded me of Proverbs 19:11 “…it is his glory to overlook an offense.” This was one of the first verses I taught my boys when they were very little and could easily be miffed with each other (ie. “He took my Thomas Train. Waaaaaa.”) One day I heard little three year old Noah saying to himself, “It is my glory to look over the fence.”

Thanks for the show and tell, Beth!

  45. 95
    Shelly says:

You make me smile. Needed that Word from Proverbs like I need water to drink! Have a blessed day.

  46. 96
    Fran says:

Well yesssssssss!!!! Praise God for your completion of James!!!! Praying for sweet Melissa to finish strong. You and the entire LPM team cross my mind so very often Beth. Thank you for loving us so well.

And that precious Renee Sandifer is a gem. I love that lady and am thankful for “finding her” here and on twitter. What a cool gift.

Have a wonderful day. Praying for all that is ahead of you this week and LPL in Ohio this weekend.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Fran

    Jean says:

    Good Morning Beth,

I loved seeing the Columbus notebook…I’m always amazed by the process involved in bringing the Word of God to other people. So amazing that God already has something “just for me” tucked in those pages along with something special for thousands of other ladies too. Is this your first trip to OSU ? See you in about 47 hours…

  48. 98
    LisaShaw says:

Praying for Melissa now as she writes…

Congratulations on this study Beth and I’m looking forward to the moment it is released…love the book of James! Power and instructions for us is awesome in that book!

GOD IS SO GOOD!!!! He’s faithful!!!

    Much love!

    Kathy Actib says:

Good Morning Beth!! Blessings on you sweet girl. Thank you for all you do for us. I am in the middle of working through your new Breaking Free in preparation for a group this Fall. It is blessing my socks off!!

  50. 100

Hi Beth…what a sweet video to share with my morning coffee. And thank you for the proverb…much needed reminder for me this week as I have been deeply annoyed. Whoops!

I am so excited about the James study. I think I have said it 1,000 times so you should know by now πŸ˜‰ but I was rescued from the pit by James 1:2-5. I treaure the book like pure gold and I will no doubt love the study. My group and I are in the middle of the revised “Breaking Free” and having a blessed summer because of its powerful word.

I last want to share that my life and heart are radically changed because of the scripture memory challenge. I cannot begin to describe it….but joy could blow the roof off my house right now. Thank you so much for the challenge. God has used you many times through your studies, your blog and your books….in my life.
