    Becky says:

    Dear friend Beth,
Yes, yes, I (we) will be coming to LPL in Columbus! Been looking forward to it for months and especially since it’s worked out for my daughter from Omaha to fly in and we may be bringing my 8 month old grandbaby Charlotte!! She can be a little wild woman at times, so we’re not sure how it’ll work… Also, there’s a possibility (please pray it works out) that a sweet niece who’s recently moved to the area will come and she has a 6 month old so we’re hoping to get the baby siestas all together!! I’ve been praying for you during the James work and in preparation for coming here. We seriously need God’s Spirit to fall in Buckeye country!

Becky, I confess I have a critical spirit against Buckeyes. Go Blue!! hahaha
Have a blast with all the baby siestas! (Siestaettes?) ๐Ÿ™‚

Boy, you will only know when you get to heaven how badly I needed to hear that word this morning. THANKS….by the way, what were you drinking? I can’t imagine being that peppy at this time of the morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Lyndsey says:

Hello!! My you are looking so great and adorable today Beth! ๐Ÿ˜€ Just wanted to let you know that! Its always an encouraging blessing to see ur smiling face greeting us! The word you brought to us to day is very relevant and has been something I think God is starting to get after me about. Thanks for sharing!! I am ever grateful for your work in the Kingdom! Have a lovely day! ~ Lyndsey

    Nancy says:

    Oh Beth!
Did I ever need this word today! I have had such a critical spirit and I
    am repenting this second!
You are such a blessing to my life!
I want to also say what an encouragement it is for me to read through
the SSMT verses every 15 days! Just so sweet to know what the siestas
are hiding in their hearts and minds!
Know how much YOU are loved by this community!
Praying for your ending of James study!
    LOVE you, Nancy

    Amy says:

I was there! I saw that screen come up and almost went down but wasn’t quite sure what it was for. I thought maybe it was a preset group of people helping out in some way. Now I wish I would have gone!

I had SUCH a wonderful time in Charlotte.

    Michele says:

STAR!!! – Love her! Such a sweet pup! Meeting Star is on my bucket list. Please give her a hug from me. โ™ฅ

Hey Beth – we are praying for you & Melissa with James – but please do us a favor – no backflips! Don’t let that younger lipstick make you forget you have a bad back. We don’t want you to get hurt! ๐Ÿ˜‰

You are hip, Mama. We love you!

      Michele says:

p.s. – I hear ya on the critical spirit. Although I’ve told people: I’ve always been a glass-half-empty type of person; I thought about switching to glass-half-full, but I got thirsty.

      hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Kathy B says:

Girl, that’s the second time I laughed out loud at your comments. I’m trying hard to censor my Big Ten comments. But that’s mostly because Michigan doesn’t presently have the game to back up my mouth!

        You got thirsty! Too funny.

        • Michele says:

๐Ÿ˜€ Was the first time at my reply to Becky (top of page)? You have same critical spirit? hahaha

It sure will be interesting this year – both have new coaches and the new division structure w/championship! Go Blue! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was there!! That’s me in the green shirt in the first pic ๐Ÿ™‚ What a fun, special weekend. I was so happy to get a Siesta picture. Thank you, Beth!

    Dianne says:

Thank you so much for this Word! It has been a hard couple of weeks for me (ugly cries and all), and I was starting to lean toward this critical side about many things. I think I found my next memory verse!

  9. 9

Love the video greeting and seeing sweatheart, Star!

Thanks for the word on a critical spirit… “old school” it may be, but you’re right to remind us that attitude IS everything! Thank you, Siesta Mamato share Phil. 2:14-16 …YES, YES, YES!!! – Amen : )

Have a blessed week- I’m hoping for some much needed rain down here in Corpus from “Don” comin’ in for a visit (hopefully) tomorrow night.

Much love~ Teri in Corpus Christi, TX

    Renee says:

    Good Morning!

Some thoughts. ๐Ÿ™‚ 1) I wish I could have been there last weekend – I had a family thing & couldn’t come, but I prayed for ya! 2) You look very pretty this morning with the pale lipstick. I would call that lipsticky success. 3) I don’t struggle particularly with being critical as a rule, but I did wake up quite grumpy and definitely needed this Word. Now I’m off to grab my Bible! Have a great day!

    Beth,
Thank you so much for your word to us today! As a teacher getting ready to go back to school, it was much needed! I love ya!

      Mindy, Indiana says:

Tanya, I can relate!! I teach 5th grade and am counting the days of “freedom” left. It is hard at school to stay positive and upbeat. I’ll pray for you today that you have a great year and get everything done you need to before it starts! We have a chance to bless kids and “give a cup” of love and kindness each day.

I was in Charlotte and volunteered as an encourager. It was such a blessing to pray over two sweet ladies that I had never met before and probably won’t see again this side of heaven. Your message to HOLD FAST was such a blessing too and I’ve heard from the women in my congregation who were also there and were so touched by the message.

Love the pictures and hate that I didn’t get in on it. Next time!

I also have to tell you that in Bible study on Monday night we were talking about memorizing scripture…and I mentioned your scripture memory cards. So one of my newest women sent me an email on Tues morning about wanting to set up a “recipe” book of scriptures and then print it for all of our women. Thought it was a wonderful idea and I am so blessed by this sister’s new excitement about her walk!

Thanks for all you and your staff do, Beth!

    Sarah Marion says:

    Hi Beth,

Thank you for your cheerful greeting this morning and the word on discernment. When we let it go wrong it ends up as a critical spirit.

Have you tried Juicy Tubes by Lancome? They add a lot of gloss with out a ton of lip color.

  14. 14
    Tina says:

    Hi Beth,
I truly find this amazing… you got me on the critical spirit – that’s me this week. I’ve been so sore it’s unreal, I need prayers. I was blaming the summer heat here in missouri – 100 or very close to it each day for 2 weeks now. But it’s more than that. Then as I’m typing this I remembered I’m beginning week 3 of your Breaking Free course. *Bingo* I’m a mess right now. But in the middle of all of this I want to thank you Beth for all that you do for us Siestas!

    Kimberly says:

HOORAY…it looks like I will be coming to Columbus…I have had the ticket for some time…but there was a chance that my son would have to have a surgery that week but we found out this very morning that is not the case…
Thank you for the reminder that we need to be mindful of a critical spirit…and the verse that says do ALL things without complaining…because He commands we know we are empowered to live it…and it indeed is a choice…O Lord help us to make choices that reflect Your character…may You be gloriously conspicuous in us.

    Amy says:

    Hey Beth,
I wanted to let you know that God is taking you to Cols, you aren’t just showing up!! My girlfriends & I were in Charlotte over the weekend (had to leave early or would have met up with other Siestas!!) and we heard the ‘word’ for Columbus. My friend was in shock. Its the same word that another one of her friends has been saying God has been speaking over her, but she doesn’t feel like its a good thing. She lives outside Columbus and my friend with be visiting her over the weekend you will be there too. We prayed that God would find a way for us to get her there. We decided it wasn’t an option. The tickets were bought yesterday and I will be praying every day that she hears the message God is preparing thru you, for her. You are in my prayers as you prepare for Columbus (well, really every day, but especially for this message!)

Thank you for taking the time to come to Charlotte. It was such a great experience to see that your camera crew is so great – the capture your spirit for the Bible studies.

    Holly Smith says:

“All we have the power to change is our attitudes.” Thankful that there is something I have power over…and boy do I need to change it right this moment. Been a hard week for our family, dear Beth. Pray for me to do the thing…as James Robison said at the Feb. taping (paraphrased), Attitude creates atmosphere, which creates climate, which creates a culture and determines how things grow.

OH, may I contribute to GROWTH in my family…{Sigh} Lord, help.

      Jennifer Tricarico says:

      Holly!
I have been praying for you! Gotta tell you… it’s the kind of sweet interruption kinda prayer like the Lord tapping me on the shoulder and wanting me to just lift you up to Him at all SORTS of random times. Oh, His love for you!
And I use my DVR to capture all the Robison Tapings and I was like, “Hey! I recognize that person in the audience” when the camera panned past you! It was you, right? It’s been a year next month since I sorta ‘joined’ Siestaville –and that’s happened a couple of times now. yay! Anyway, will be praying for you Holly. And when I forget to, the Lord will obviously remind me! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • holly smith says:

I AM LITERALLY JUMPING UP AND DOWN, JENNIFER!! WOW~ How great the Father’s Love….how precious…how pure. Bless you. May God return upon your sweet life a ten-fold blessing for how you have blessed me. Now I’m crying happy tears….awww, thank you. And yes, that was me ๐Ÿ™‚ It was the most blessed weekend–I am still carrying around truths that James, Beth and Betty shared that weekend. {Sigh} He loves me and He loves YOU! AND HE loves this community so much!

        • Jennifer Tricarico says:

Holly – I’ll stop the string here and keep it up off-line, but I had to tell you I just snuck down to my computer away from my 3 kids and hubby because I’m beginning to get VERY discouraged and wanting to run and hide. So I thought “I need a word – anything – to get me back upstairs.” Yes, I did try to recall some SSMT verses then decided to just check the blog again. AND YOU HAVE JUST STRENGTHENED ME with this. Praise our sweet savior Jesus that He does exactly what He promised! He is WITH ME until the end of the age and when I have trouble feeling His arms around me, I can look around in the ‘fam’ and find my sisters arms as well. Bless you and all Siestaville for encouraging each-other!!!!!

MAN!!!! I totally wanted to come to the Siesta secret mtg after the event but I was with my Mom and she wanted to get going (beat the crowd) and also had to get back to my precious little 7mo old baby girl. You could photoshop me in? ๐Ÿ™‚ I was there! Would have loved to meet some fellow NC siestas. Thank you also for the Scripts this morning. GOOD. WORD. Also, in the NASB vs. 16a reads “hold fast the Word of Life”.. hold fast! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was there at Charlotte with my daughter, Rachel! We are in the front row of group 2 – Rachel is in the blue striped top, and I am to her left. Sadly we did not get enough time to visit with the siestas, but it was great to see familiar faces.

Melana – Do you see my bag? I know you will recognize it!

Much love to Beth and siestas!

    Linda, Colorado says:

As the wife of a pastor it seems so easy to fall into a critical attitude and name it something else, like “caring” or “tough love”…..we have to be so careful that our very thoughts are Spirit controlled. Not easy when the flesh of pastors (and wives) want to see big numbers and big ministry growth. We have to keep reminding ourselves that the church we serve belongs to Jesus, not to us…

    Thanks for the word!

    Jacqueline says:

Hi Beth, thanks for the message update. I have had your blog as my homepage for about 6 months. I want to be a siesta. Do you consider that someone who is interacting with the community or more? I am so encouraged by your blog and also your Life Today appearances, I have them on my ipod and listen to them while I drive to and from work. Also I’m going to LPL a the end of September in Baltimore Maryland. My mom and I can’t wait and I’m so SOOOO excited about what God is going to teach us! ~Jacqueline

      KMac says:

Hey Siesta! This is from the link on our Blog homepage, “What’s A Siesta?” Isn’t “siesta” the Spanish word for nap? Yes! Then why are our LPM blog readers called siestas? One time Beth typed out the word “sistas,” referring to our blog readers, and her spell checker wanted her to change it to “siestas.” The name stuck! You can read about it here. If you read this blog, consider yourself a siesta! It’s just another word for sister. Welcome!

Thank you, Beth! What a beautiful scripture and word for today. I’m constantly amazed how the Word can fall afresh on my heart. I needed this today. Thank you so much.

    Sarah S. says:

Critical spirit — you were talking about that person, so I thought of one person, then I thought AHA! Listen to yourself! Ugh. Flesh. PMS. We’ll always have it, huh?

On to critical questions: do you have a recommendation for a high sheen lip gloss? I am using a Neutrogena gloss that I love dearly, but I fear that my sheen is not up to par. Lead me, Siesta Mama.

  32. 32
    Kathy says:

Thanks for taking the time to connect and encourage us. A very important “WORD” for each of us and especially for me to remember right now during an unexpected challenge. God Bless you with plenty of energy, rest, calm and fun. Can’t wait for your new study.

    kathypinkbicyclearkansas says:

Yes, that critical spirit is my biggest obstacle. I work so hard but it keeps coming back again and again.

Wish I could be there this weekend, it’s been four weeks since my surgery and I came back to work this week but I’m exhausted and looking forward to a very lazy weekend.

Looking forward to Spt 10 and eagerly awaiting next years schedule! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for this update, the word about critical spirit/discernment was important for me to hear.

Just so you know, I’m a newb-ish Siesta and was at the Charlotte LPL (my first)but couldn’t stay afterward! I’m just blessed to know there are a bunch of us in Charlotte…

and thank you again for the scholarship that enabled me to attend with a 19-year-old missionary kid who was extremely blessed by this time as well!!

  38. 38
    Leanne says:

That was a word for me this morning as well. Thank you Beth. For all my “Siesta Friends” who also struggle with a critical spirit can I recommend reading “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp. I’m working my way through it this summer… life changing!

    Michelle says:

Beth- I certainly needed to hear the WORD from God himself. I am battling a critical spirit as it relates to my sister-in-law. This relationship has never been easy but now that my mother-in-law’s health is dramatically deteriorating things are much harder!!! I need to see her from His eyes not my own.

Love the neutral lip gloss because it highlights you big beautiful eyes!!

Loved to see the siesta pictures from Charlotte. I was part of the group of siestas that had their picture taken with you in Minneapolis. I can’t seem to find out how to locate that picture, can anyone help.

Blessings as you finish strong with the James study. Can’t wait to participate in doing it.

Hugs and kisses sweet Siesta Mamma ๐Ÿ™‚

    Leanne says:

Oh I needed to hear that today! This is my first comment aside from the memory verses, but I can’t fully express how much I enjoy this blog. Thank you!

  41. 41

Thanks for this word of encouragement today. I stumbled onto a blog late yesterday re: LPL/Charlotte and found it to be written by someone very critical of you. In fact, you were being blamed for even the high price of concessions at the arena during LPL this past weekend. Like you can control that?!

My heart just broke because obviously this woman missed the entire point of the weekend. And my spirit quickened with compassion for her and the need to cover you in prayer. I’m sure you get more criticism than I can imagine. But, remember …

H.O.L.D.F.A.S.T. ~ God has set His love upon me!

Keep teaching the Word with humility and authority and doing exactly what our Great God has called you and equipped you to do. It is all about Him and actually not so much about you anyway! We follow Him alone but sometimes you get to “serve the meal”, so to speak! Thank you for being faithful and always, always pointing us back to the Father!

I missed the photo op but hope to be there with you all in January!

    Many blessings,

That saddens me so much to know someone could attend that event and not walk away blessed beyond measure. I join you in prayer for our sister and for Mama Beth as well.

I knew of your coming visit to Charlotte, last October. I did not find the money to attend and then on Friday, I had GODSTOP! I was given, not only tickets, but “suite tickets” to both days! My heart was bursting with joy and humility at such a blessing from God!
It was my first time hearing you speak in person.
God spoke MANY WORDS to me those days and also gave a fresh anointing to my friend I brought with me.
Because of your book, When Godly people do Ungodly Things,I received a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit and I have been experiencing God’s presence and a heart full of praise as I memorize scripture and study HIS Word in a way I never have before!! Hallelujah! God has been so faithful and used your teaching to show me that HE wanted to restore me after years of disobedience. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being willing to share and teach what God has laid on your heart, to sisters like me.
I pray for you daily that God will continue do GREAT THINGS in HIS NAME through your ministry.I just want to say, that ” you are doing this very well”! Your humility and obedience to God is glorifying HIM only! Be continually strengthened and blessed dear one!

    Beth,
I was in Charlotte with my daughter who is 27 and we had the best time. The teaching on “HOLD FAST” was what I needed. Thank you so much for your time. And tell Travis that I love, love love his music. I also needed the word you gave today.

Thank you for this word today! I’ve been working on my critical spirit, but wondering why it’s still hanging around towards the people closest to me that I love the most?? (Like my 12-year-old?!) I also think that it’s connected to my perfectionistic tendencies.. ๐Ÿ™ Keep working one day at a time!

Charlotte was just amazing! Can’t thank you enough for bringing the blessing. I will HOLD FAST as we travel to China this month to bring home our sweet daughter. It was just the fortification I needed!

Yes Lord, only in You can I rejoice, holding fast the word of life and I can only pray and hope that I can shine just even a bit here in this dark depraved world…

I wish it was Columbus GA instead of Columbus OH because I’d be able to be there then! :o) Blessings to all who get to go…

I woke up at 4:59 this morning ( 1 1/2 hours early for me) thinking about God’s word. I got up and read the first chapter of John where The Word became flesh, then did some skimming through verses talking about the words of Jesus. The two that stood out this morning were John 6:63b and Hebrews 4:12a, then here you go reminding us how we should “hold out the word of life.” Love it! God gave me a theme for the day!

Thanks so much for the timely word. My kids have been convicting me about being negative when I didn’t think I was. So hear it three times, better take note.
