I want my kids to see an authentic loving and real mama.

Happy Mother’s Day to you! Thank you for a beautiful beginning to a sweet day.

I make so many mistakes as mom. But, tonight the Lord reminded me of a beautiful seed that has begun to grow. If you came by my house you might hear one of my boys say, “Mommy, Jesus knew we needed that.” or “God is good to us.” or maybe “Jesus helped me.” I don’t share that out of pride at all only as a glimpse of hope for my own heart.

I do pray for that sincere faith & fiery love for God. Lord in heaven, please make it true for me.

    Katie says:

    Oh Beth.

I just happened to get on here tonight – as my babies sleep and my husband watches a basketball game. And now I’m cryin’. And honestly I feel guilty about it. I’m a blessed woman – with a healthy almost 4 year old boy and a healthy (and fiesty!) 9 month old girl. I have a great Mom. Great grandmothers, etc…And oh, I’m thankful. I have friends who have lost babies….friends who have lost mother’s – so wow I’m grateful for my current situation – however – my Mama (and the rest of my kin) live down in Texas, 1200 miles away from me. And, oh I miss them – their direction, their laughs, their love. So to have you pour some godly wisdom into my Mother’s day – just really touched me. I needed that….real bad. Thank you!

    You rock.

    Love and Hugs,
    Kate

Thank you so much Beth for this wonderful video!! It’s so nice to be encouraged by a Mother! I did not grow up in a Christian household and I’m trying very hard to bring my children up in one. I feel very lost at times since it’s not how I grew up and I haven’t had an example to follow. I appreciate any help I can get!

I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day! You are a GREAT Mom! Thank you for being our Siesta Mama on top of being a Mom to your family!

Happy Mother’s Day to you and Amanda! I Love you all!

    Beth,
I’m baking a lemon cake with coconut icing and a sugar-free chocolate pie for my family coming tomorrow. I’ve got chicken to roast and dressing to make early in the morning. I’m making something we’ve not had in a long time…it’s a favorite of the women in my family…Harvard Beets! And a batch of Fried Okra will be cooking when they come.
Other dishes are coming with my guests. It will be so good having them here for Mother’s Day!
I have much to be thankful for. Things aren’t perfect at all for me right now. But life is still good.
Have a very happy Mother’s Day…all of you at Living Proof…and all of us in the community of blogworld.

Wanted to share a little of how this mother’s day began…my husband is in Iraq. He has been gone since last summer. We were at the breakfast table earlier this week and I said, “Boys, it’s sad daddy isn’t here to help you shop for mother’s day this year.” My three boys looked at me blankly. Then my oldest who is eight announced, “Well, we just won’t celebrate Mother’s Day.”

I did not burst into tears at that moment. I waited until I was in my room ๐Ÿ™‚ It was more than this “single” mom’s heart could take. Their daddy bless his heart has sent cheese cake & Sherrie’s Berrie’s (if you’ve ever had them you know he did good) via internet.

Tonight my oldest asked me not to look under the couch because he made me something and it was drying under there. They have all agreed to try to stay out of trouble for the day ๐Ÿ™‚ It is turning into a great Mother’s Day and it’s only Saturday!

    xoxoxo to you.

Oh Ya’ll, what a precious Mother’s Day this has been. Filled with more tender moments than I could have imagined. The special present my oldest prepared was a Valentines Project (that we never got to this year)a bear holding a big red heart. On the heart he wrote, “Wii Love you Mommy XOXOXO” Precious!! I did not correct him. I will teasure it always and it will be a good reminder of this season of our life ๐Ÿ™‚ LOL

Thank you for all your prayers and sweet words of encouragement. I love you all!

My heart was broken for another family today. We met an Iraqi family belive it or not! They are refugees to the US. The mom was beautiful and had two beautiful children. A boy and girl. The daddy has been lost for four years. They don’t have any word on him. The mom was so strong. They’ve been in the States for about six months. The boy about 11 yrs was playing a violent video game. He told my son that he was practicing to get revenge on the men who killed his daddy. Many many tears. My heart just cried out to God. I know ya’ll will join me in prayer for this precious family.

What a blessed gift to give each of us.

I’ve thought so much of my son (17) and daughter (almost 13) today. What each of them have brought to my life. My son – joy, and my daughter – love.

Your encouragement means so much because I long to live a life of sincere faith, and my heart is so full of love for our God. I pray that I have, and will continue to pour these over the both of them. That is if I survive the teenage years – smile!

    Beth,
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this message! I so needed to hear it. I did not grown up in Christian home and wonder a lot if I am “doing” this mother thing right. Should we be doing devotionals every day, more spiritual “things” as a family?? My husband and I just had this talk. I keep trying to force the disciplines while he pretty much said the same thing you did. It was easier to receive from you ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t know why bc he is an amazing man who passionately loves Christ (I always joke that he is a guy version of you..hehe!)
Anyway…thank you for confirming what Christ is trying to show me. My heart is OVERWHELMED with thankfulness for my Siesta Mama ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you, Beth, for this beautiful encouragement to mothers.
I professed Christ as my Lord and Savior late in life, and since that time the Lord has given me great blessings as a mother by bringing two of my daughters to faith. We now join together in loving and serving the Lord and teaching our precious three year old Zoe about the love Jesus has for her.
Yes, motherhood does indeed begin with that first knowledge of a life within you, and it never ends.
Thank You God for the gift of children! โ€œOh, Lord, I love you so.โ€
I have had the privilege of meeting your two beautiful daughters. They are beautiful inside and out. You should be so proud.

    Hey Beth

What a sweet encouragement for us young moms! I ponder the line, “I thought I loved you then.” Hm,what a Savior! I’ve had a song playing in my head all down…also found its way out of my mouth, “Hallelujah glory be to our great God…” In all our mothering I pray that our love would well up so much so for the Lord and for our husbands and for our children and all those around us that it would bring Him glory, even honor, and yes praise! Thanks again. Happy Mother’s Day to you too!

    With love in Christ

I couldn’t relate much to your message because I’m single, but I thought it was interesting that this weekend I’m finishing a final paper on Isaiah 7:14 – Immanuel. It was a mom who brought God into the world to be with us.

I know we are not the same as your real family, but when you described how much you think of your kids & grandkids, I couldn’t help wondering how much you think of us. I know you do.

But, I have faith and I know God loves him more than I ever could – this is helps me daily. I also have a wonderful daughter. I am blessed – no doubt. Katie says:

Thank you, Beth, for that Mother’s Day blessing. As a mother of two young children, it was so good to be reminded that the very best thing I can do for my children (and my marriage for that matter) is nurture my relationship with Jesus. When I was pregnant with my first child I read Andrew Murray’s Raising Your Children to Love Christ. He spent an entire chapter in the beginning of the book, I think, encouraging parents to abide in Jesus every minute of their day and that nothing could bring about more fruit in laying the foundations of walking with Him in our child’s heart than that. Your video was also a good reminder to me to get back in the discipline of journaling. Their are so many truths the Spirit reveals through out the day that get lost in time’s shuffle when I don’t take the time to document them…not to mention quotable quotes from the kiddos.

And by the by, as a first time “commentor” (I know that’s not a word) I just wanted to thank you Amanda, Melissa, and Beth for taking the time to write, minister, and sometimes just make us laugh. Amanda, I’m your age with two kids, I know there are days you probably have no energy to write and I so appreciate your willingness to let the Spirit use you.

Blessings on you guys and your loved ones!

Happy Mother’s Day & thank you Beth. I’ve been mothering for almost 32 years, yikes! I So agree with you, keep your relationship with God first, keep getting to know Him through His Word.

Remember that sometimes good enough is good enough when it comes to your job as Mother.

I know for a lot of Moms tomorrow will bring sorrow, I think of a friend who’s son died about a year ago, oh that must hurt so bad. Some of you Mom’s won’t hear from your kids. Some have husbands who are off to war or other kinds of duty which takes them away from you and makes your job even harder. Mother’s Day might not bring flowers or thanks for you. Dear Father in heaven please help those Moms to feel your love today and hope and the knowledge that they are good mothers. Blessings Erin

Haven’t checked the blog here in months, maybe even a year or more. Sure glad I did. What a sweet message for Mother’s Day! Thank you so much for sharing Beth. I did notice something that most might miss. During the beginning part of your message a bird was calling in the back ground but almost at soon as you started reading your poem, the bird was never heard again. I noticed because one of my dogs goes nuts whenever he hears birds calling like that and I was just about to just the video off when the bird stopped. I think God really wanted me to hear your poem and to realize that before I know it, this little 4 year old of mine, who’s the center of my universe right now, will be all grown up and gone. So, I need to get reaquainted with the only one I can truely rely to always be there and that’s God. Thanks!

    Dear Beth,
I am a woman struggling with infertility, and it is heartbreaking. Literally.

I have become initiated into a whole new world of the infertile woman, and there are MANY of us out there who are suffering in silence.

To my dear sister in Christ who might also be suffering, I’d like you to know that Christ is right with us in our longings and in our sufferings, and He LOVES US LAVISHLY. Even on Mother’s day. Especially on Mother’s Day.

Happy Mother’s Day Beth and Amanda!

      Beth says:

Thank you for this, Jen. I never live a Mother’s Day that I don’t think about those who have not been able to parent but so badly desire to. Even when I made the video, I thought about it. It is a bittersweet day even to many of us moms because we think of our other sisters to whom it brings pain. I think about it every Mother’s Day in our church service as I look around the sanctuary and wonder.

I pray for every single one of you that God will blow your minds with His faithfulness and bring you great fruitfulness. May He bring all of you sons and daughters, and, yes, naturally born! And if not naturally born, may He increase your spiritual sons and daughters 100-fold. Do it, Lord. Do it, Lord.

      • Michele says:

Thank you for that, MamaBeth. It can be hard for singles around holidays or hearing about other people getting married and having kids. I get jealous because I feel like a huge chunk of my life was stolen my childhood victimization. Would I have had a family if I was emotionally and spiritually healthy 20 years ago?

Even though Iโ€™m only 40, I am just finally growing up inside and new hope is mixed with the reality that some things you canโ€™t go back and re-do.
While I canโ€™t have kids, I am still hoping God will give me a husband, and I think about how, after the pain, God restored Jobโ€™s fortune twofold. So I trust that God has other blessings in store for me.

And I do know that this long season of loneliness and isolation has brought me closer to God than I would have gotten if I had other people to lean on.

        • Erin says:

Dear Father how greatful I am for this sweet sister, Michele. I hear her sweet female soul, and the desire for a husband. Lord your will be done. Biblical women we both want to be Lord.

Thank you Beth. As one who finally followed God toward adoption, mother’s day has been bittersweet. My two beautiful children were naturally born to someone else and became my own. Thank you for the sensitivity to all of us who still desire to feel that life in side us.

Jen, I’ve gone this way too. Yes He does love you Jen, very much so! Keep that truth close to your heart, and abide in Him. Use this time to get to know Him, His real heart. He is with you Jen, He is:) He will do more than your eyes have seen, and your ears have heard, more than you can imagine:)

Love in HIM to you my fellow Siesta:)

    Happy Mother’s Day!!
thank you for ecouraging words to moms!! Better than a cool drink of water on a hot day is encouragement on a day loaded with expectations and guilt of ‘not measuring up’. <3 Keep up the good work Moms!
