Simulcast – August 1-2, 2008

My mom has had a lot of interesting phone calls in her life. I used to sit at the bottom of the stairs and listen to her talk on the phone when I was a kid. I wasn’t hearing both sides of the conversation, mind you. And if it was important mom would go talk in her room. Even so, there was some interesting stuff to listen to!

Yesterday’s phone call beat all. Mom got to have a conference call with well over 300 host site leaders for the August 1-2 Living Proof Live Simulcast. I can’t even wrap my mind around that! Over 300 people on their own phones, all connected at once! I’m amazed! I wasn’t listening in this time because I thought it would be awful to have Jackson squawking about his Cars! Fast cars! and Monster trucks! in the background.

The conference call reminded me that I should let all of our blog readers know about this simulcast opportunity. If there’s not a Living Proof Live event in your region this year, or if you can’t attend the one near you for whatever reason, you may have another chance to experience Living Proof Live.

The LPL event in Louisville, Kentucky, (August 1-2) will be simulcast to host sites throughout the country. That means there may be a church in your area where you can go to watch the live broadcast of the conference. I hesitate to say “watch” because it is much more than that. You are actually a participant. My church in Irving hosted the Get Out of That Pit simulcast in 2007 and it didn’t take long for me to forget that we weren’t actually at the main site. Hosting the simulcast was a great experience for our church. We loved getting to bring women together from sister churches all around our community. If you can’t find a satellite site in your area, it’s not too late to become one!

If you’d like to know more about the simulcast, here are two helpful links for you:

Is anyone already planning to attend the simulcast?

The simulcast is AWESOME I went last year and LOVED it! Everyone needs to sign up if there is one in your town… or even look into being a host church!

I was so bummed that the Louisville event was sold out since I’m close to it, but now my church is hosting the simulcast and I get to help serve!!! It’s at Indian Creek Christian Church in Indianapolis. We have 1600 tickets available and we are PRAYING that it will be a sold out event and reach many, many people in our community for Christ – and for those who already know Him to live in greater FREEDOM and JOY. Also, the proceeds are going to benefit Shepherd Community Center here in Indy. Go to http://www.shepherdcommunitycenter.org and you will see the promo for the LPL event!!

I also attended the Get Out of that Pit simulcast and agree that it was AWESOME!!!

    Love,
    Linda

    Amanda,

I’m so excited — I will be there LIVE in Louisville. It will be only my 2nd LPL to attend which is shameful because (a) I’ve been a facilitator of your Mom’s studies for 10 years this year and (b) Travis and Angela are good friends of mine, as well as Julie and Lici on the praise team. Yes, I know — so sad!

Anyone else going to be in Louisville? I’d love to meet up with some other Siestas while there.

    Blessings,
    Dori

Our church is hosting in Waco. I actually think one of my husband’s best friends is getting married that weekend, so I might miss the simulcast, but I am comforted because I have my ticket to SA and the Siesta Fiesta!

I am on the prayer team for the simulcast at our church…very excited to be a part of it however I can.

    Blessings,

If any other Siestas are going to be in Boone, NC let me know. I’d love to meet up.

I’m so glad you mentioned this Amanda! Our church hosted the Get Out of the Pit similcast last year, too and it was so awesome! You truly do feel like a part of everything and it is so amazing to know you are worshipping with so many women around the US. Unfortunaltely we are not hosting this time, but thanks to your link I was able to find a church in my area that is! I’m so excited!

Okay I have a question if you can answer me great. I am here in the KC area and I know of one or two of them. But I am coming to San Antonio for the Siesta Fiesta, will it be the same event as will the topics be the same? I am just thinking financially and time wise, would I just be best to hold off until San Antonio? Hopefully not to confusing!

OH MY GOSH!!! I was one of the over 300 and was just downright blown away by the technology of it all. Then a couple of hours later, one of my spiritual daughters called me from spain where she is doing an internship for Avant Ministries and introduced me to skype.com where you can talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime by webcam. I was able to see her and talk to her! What a world!!
We will be participating at our church, Frederick Boulevard Baptist in St. Joseph, MO. Praise God!!

I am so excited too that a bunch of my girlfriends and I will be physically on site at Southeast Christian in L’ville!! (We were there when Beth came the last time…2000, I think.) ๐Ÿ™‚ We “hard-core Beth groupies” (as my hubby lovingly calls us) live 45 miles south of L’ville, but have ventured to Indiana, Ohio, Alabama, and Tennessee, to attend LPL events. Our church also hosted the Colorado simulcast a few years ago, and a group of us went to the “Get Out of That Pit
simulcast. They were both awesome. Looking so forward to August!

My, I have heard of Conference calls, but with 300 different churches? That is simply AMAZING!!! Hallelujah !

I would sure like to come to this event, so I am going to try to find out if my church has the capabilities of having the simulcast there, or try to convince the other church across town to have this one, as they did with the 2007 Simulcast!!! I am praying that it is possible!

Thank you LPM for doing Simulcast events!!! I think God is truly leading you in this way to reach so many more people for Christ – I was just thinking how a simulcast will make it so much easier for us to bring non-Christians to an event like this (rather than to a colliseum with assigned tickets – make sense?) I praise God for what is doing and will do Aug. 1-2nd!

I will be participating in Greensboro, NC. This will be my second simucast I have attended. A few years back I went to Kernersville, NC to “watch” Beth. I attended the Raleigh conference and seeing Beth live is wonderful. The next best thing is to attend a simucast. The Spirit of the Lord is there whether is live or simucast. Can’t wait for August 1 and 2nd. I’m ready ! CINDY in HIGH POINT, NC

And I just have to meet up with some siestas. I bought my ticket (not thinking as I should’ve bought two!) and by the time I found someone to go with me it was sold out! So I’ll be coming by my lonesome and look forward to hooking up with some of you…especially since I can’t be a the fiesta. Looking forward to it!
    Prayers to all…
And let’s all be praying for Steven Curtis Chapman’s family. I just heard the tragic news and am literally sick.

I’m planning on attending the simulcast at a local church. So, that’ll be twice in one month that I get to “see” my BFF Beth speak!!!

I can’t fathom that many people on one phone call. Did your mama do all the talking? How would you ask a question over 299 other folks???

Our church is a host site again. Sadly I will not be able to go because of a Mother/Daughter retreat that was previously scheduled.

  38. 88
    Faran says:

    Amanda,
I don’t know if you or Beth have heard the news yet, but Steven Curtis Chapman’s 5 year old daughter Maria was killed. (here’s a link to the article on FoxNews http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,357046,00.html)

I just felt compelled to ask you to post a short blog so that all the siestas can be praying for him, his family, and especially the son who was driving the car that struck her. I pray the Lord Jesus protect them from any enemy attack that is sure to come in moments of tragedy. Steven’s music and heart for Jesus and for orphans has so blessed me. I feel almost a personal loss for him.

Thank you for considering a post.

I have done two simulcast and two events, and they have all been incredible! I will attend the simulcast at Grove City Church of the Nazarene and then attend the LPL event a couple weeks later in San Antonio. Trying to make up for not being able to attend any last year. ;o)

For any siesta who is attending the actual event in Louisville and hasn’t found hotel accommodations, I have a room reserved near Southeast Christian Church that I will not need. I’m not sure how we can work it out, but if you’re in need of a room email me.
