Simulcast – August 1-2, 2008

My mom has had a lot of interesting phone calls in her life. I used to sit at the bottom of the stairs and listen to her talk on the phone when I was a kid. I wasn’t hearing both sides of the conversation, mind you. And if it was important mom would go talk in her room. Even so, there was some interesting stuff to listen to!

Yesterday’s phone call beat all. Mom got to have a conference call with well over 300 host site leaders for the August 1-2 Living Proof Live Simulcast. I can’t even wrap my mind around that! Over 300 people on their own phones, all connected at once! I’m amazed! I wasn’t listening in this time because I thought it would be awful to have Jackson squawking about his Cars! Fast cars! and Monster trucks! in the background.

The conference call reminded me that I should let all of our blog readers know about this simulcast opportunity. If there’s not a Living Proof Live event in your region this year, or if you can’t attend the one near you for whatever reason, you may have another chance to experience Living Proof Live.

The LPL event in Louisville, Kentucky, (August 1-2) will be simulcast to host sites throughout the country. That means there may be a church in your area where you can go to watch the live broadcast of the conference. I hesitate to say “watch” because it is much more than that. You are actually a participant. My church in Irving hosted the Get Out of That Pit simulcast in 2007 and it didn’t take long for me to forget that we weren’t actually at the main site. Hosting the simulcast was a great experience for our church. We loved getting to bring women together from sister churches all around our community. If you can’t find a satellite site in your area, it’s not too late to become one!

If you’d like to know more about the simulcast, here are two helpful links for you:

Is anyone already planning to attend the simulcast?

I will be at the actual site- Southeast Christian Church. This will be WONDERFUL! I do agree, however, that being at a simulcast spot is just as great – I was in attendance at a simulcast spot for Get Out of that Pit.

Our church in Millington, Tennessee, is very proud to be one of the host churches to do the simulcast. God bless each of you taking a part in this. Much prayer is definately going into this great event!

Our church FBC Blairsville, GA (www.fbcvision.com) will be a host site for the simulcast. We did the Get Out of That Pit simulcast and the E-Woman simulcast and had a great response. We would love to have some Georgia, western North Carolina or Eastern Tennessee siestas join us in Blairsville.

We always have the privilege of having Lifeway Christian Stores come set up a mini-bookstore at our site and the ladies who attend just absolutely swamp the tables to purchase the items that Lifeway brings to sell.

I’m not going to the simulcast, but that’s only because I’m attending the REAL DEAL just two weeks prior in Minneapolis. It’s one of the most looked-forward-to events of 2008 for me.

Missy, I will also be attending the Peoria, IL site at Riverside Community Church. I have to say I was a little put off by the high price of $45 for the simulcast! The women I know who most desperately need to hear Beth’s message and words of encouragement don’t have the money to participate! But I used my birthday money to cover my registration fee since I’ve heard Beth speak before and have always been revived by her energy and wise words of faith.

No. I’m not going. I can only afford one conference or retreat a year and I already did mine this year when I went to Boise last weekend. Besides that particular weekend my husband has a men’s ministry event so.. Not happening. It sounds amazing though if you can actually feel like you’re actually there. I always thought why would I want to do that. I’m just watching them on a screen. I do that at my church all the time for a lot less money, but it doesn’t sound like it’s anything like watching one of her videos. I’ve always been amazed at how personalized it can feel (for lack of a better word) when you’re in a building with that many people. The people involved sure do a good job of making sure everyone feels that they are important. No one gets lost in those huge arenas. Well, at least not spiritually. Physically is a different matter for people like me who have no sense of direction. Actually I did fine in the conference center because I just came out the way I came in and didn’t bother trying to find the bookstore, because i would get turned around and get lost. Anyway, sounds awesome. I’m going to have to check one of those out some day. Hopefully, this time I’ll be coming with a smile on my face, right, Miss Beth.

I also attended the “Get out of that Pit” last year and I am still looking for a church nearby. I feel like I live in the city of the forgotten- Long Island, New York. There are some sites in NY but very far from where I live. I got to attend a LPL event in New Jersey few years back. I was so looking forward to SA in August but can’t afford it due loss of job and a single mom.

    Hi Amanda,
I just received a call today from the host representative at Cornerstone Church in Long Beach, CA. She is sending me all the info I need to attend. I’m going to talk this up wherever I can. I’m so looking forward to this and maybe introducing a few new women to the siestahood.

    Praise God for technology!!

I had two tickets to Louisville and traded them for San Antonio and I would love to go to the one in Louisville but it is sold out. I just remembered after reading this post that I still have my hotel reservations. I am praying that God will bless me with tickets again but if not I will go to the one in Brentwood, Tn. I have attended all the simulcasts and they are great. I am so thankful to God, LifeWay and Beth for another avenue to meet together in His Word!!

I was actually lucky enough to be in on that conference call. Don’t think for one second that we weren’t sitting muted on the other end of that line going “yahoo-jah!” Please let your sweet mama know that out here in Atlanta we’ve got an email prayer chain for the conference going, including the specific prayer requests she mentioned yesterday. Can’t wait till August!

I was told that we were hosting a simulcast, but our name was not on the list, so maybe not. I’m going to call and find out. Thanks for the heads up! Maybe that’s why she (as in your mom) hired both you and Melissa: You Know Too Much!
(lol, I know it’s because it’s part of your heritage and because you both are so willing to be used by God!)

WE are sooooo excited that we too will be able to host a site. Reno Christian Fellowship is partnering with our Church, Sparks Christian Fellowship and we are set to go and can hardly wait. We are going to be able to accomidate 400 hungry souls for Christ and hopefully turn some lost ones on to Him. Thank you so much for doing what you do you are all so loved.

    Barefoot Mom says:

Oh Amanda, you reminded me of that Get Out of the Pit simulcast. I was in Hoffman Estates, Illinois and remember your mom talking about how you did your hair “big” for the day so everyone would “recognize” you as Beth’s daughter. What a hoot! I would have loved to see your “do” that day.

Yes, I am anxiously awaiting the simulcast and have moved since the last one, so I will probably attend in Richmond, Virginia, which is the closest large city near me. August 3rd is my 40th birthday, so it will be a gift to me to attend the LPL event via simulcast with my best friend. It’s the next best thing to being in San Antonio a few weeks later for the Siesta Fiesta. I was hoping THAT event would be my 40th birthday gift, but the timing coincides with my oldest child starting his freshman year of high school, so I can’t miss that and will have to be at home.

Thanks for the reminder! I agree, it is a lot like being there! Looking forward to it,

    Michelle

This is not about the simulcast, but…

There is a very little baby whose mom is only 8 weeks along. The parents aren’t married; in fact, broke up about a month ago. The mom is very angry and wants an abortion. The dad is very sad and wants the baby.

Their Christian friends are trying to help the mom think calmly and to make healthy choices for herself and her baby. (One of her friends had an abortion five years ago when she was 15 and still cries herself to sleep every night.)

Please pray for the mom, and the baby, and the dad, and the friends, that God’s love would be so real to each of them, that the mom especially would know beyond a shadow of a doubt how very very much He loves her, and that the life of this baby would be spared.

    Thank you.
    Alyson

Our ladies from Calvary Baptist in Erwin TN are so tickled to be attending a simulcast in Johnson City TN at Boone Ridge Baptist! What a wonderful concept, Beth!

I absolutely can’t wait to be there!
