My mom will be back soon for more wedding talk, but in the meantime I am bursting to tell you all that today is the first day of Bible study for 2008! Beth is incredibly excited and encouraged to meet our group. We will be studying Breaking Free. The core message of this study is simply freedom for the captives. I think it’s fair to say that many, perhaps even most of us siestas have been involved in this study before. I know that everyone who has been changed by Christ’s message of freedom will share in our joy as we set out to proclaim that wonderful message for the next 10 weeks.
We are excited to get to tell you that Breaking Free is being revised, much like the Tabernacle study (A Woman’s Heart, God’s Dwelling Place) was. Some of the messages will stay exactly the same and others will change completely. The updated sessions, which will mirror those taught this semester, will be taped in the fall. We could not think of a better location for the filming than Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, where the study was originally filmed ten years ago! (Having to add in a little note here with information we didn’t originally have so that we can help prevent calls to their church. The taping is a special occasion between Beth and their church and not open to the public. Thanks so much for your understanding!)
Siestas, may we incite your intercession yet again? (I was going to say “one more time,” but I know as long as there is a Living Proof Ministries, we will be asking for your prayers!) The enemy loves to see God’s people in bondage, and because of that we know he will come against us and against those who will participate in this study. Even so, while we want to be alert and aware, we march into this semester of Bible study with a spirit of victory and not of fear! Amen? Nothing could be dearer to God’s heart than ministering freedom and victory to captives, so we will do it with confidence, fearing no evil.
We claim 2 Timothy 1:7, which says, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” (The Amplified Bible) And we wholeheartedly believe 1 John 4:4, which tells us, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (NIV)
Our primary prayer request this semester is for the captives not to grow discouraged. Please pray that they will indeed be set free! Pray that each one will finish and make freedom in Christ a reality in her life. I am getting excited just typing these words! I am filled with faith that God is going to do a huge work in each life.
Other things to pray for include anointing for Beth to teach, anointing for our praise team to lead worship, wisdom and endurance for our Bible study coordinator (Jennifer) and other staff members, peace and calm over the parking lot and in the sanctuary as the women arrive, that many will come early, that the parking lot will accommodate every car, and for there not to be even one distraction while Beth is teaching tonight. The list could go on and on! Thank you in advance for your prayers. May God’s glorious name be praised!
Congrats to Melissa and Colin! I’m a hopeless romantic too so keep the wedding details coming 🙂
Hi Everyone!! I’m new to this blog thing – I have been reading your blogs for quite a while now but was unable to respond because…well…i didn’t know how – yes that’s right – technology and I do NOT go together. I’m blogging all the way from Belfast (in Ireland) and want to thank you Beth and team for all the times I’ve read your blog and cried, laughed etc; Congratulations on the wedding to be. Blessings from your new siesta xox
How exciting. I just started this study for the 2nd time last week. I did it once 5 years ago and decided to do it again on my own. I ordered the audio cd’s a little early I guess. I’ll have to do the study a third time too!! :o)
Be assured of my prayers for this new revised study.
Blessings,
Theresa
Praying for the next 10 weeks. Breaking free was my first ever Beth Moore Bible study. I loved it! I remember thinking about how I didn’t have any “Ancient Ruins” yet in my life.
I do wish that at some point someone would gear a Bible study towards a newlywed woman. New marriage is tough and we seem stuck in the middle of not having kids but not being “youth” anymore.
After completing two of my homework assignments for today from “Breaking Free”, here are some thoughts that came to mind (Week 2/Days 2 & 3).
Created
He’s the Filling of my hunger
The Quencher of my thirst
My soul’s satisfaction
When I put Him first
Chorus:
Created for His glory,
A temple where He dwells
Given chances to surrender
To all that HE entails
Is He recognizable,
In all I do and say?
Is it obvious to all,
I let Him have His way
He satisfies my longings,
Fulfills all that I need
How can I thank Him for
Everything He’s done for me?
Chorus:
Created for His glory,
A temple where He dwells
Given chances to surrender
To all that HE entails
Tag: Created for His glory for all that He entails
I will definitely be praying for you ALL (teacher, leaders, participants)as you serve the Lord in leading this Bible study. I am so grateful that you are doing this for the ones God has already prepared in advance to be part of this study. Exciting days are ahead – I can’t wait to hear what He does in and through each woman!
I will be leading the DVD version of Breaking Free in my Women’s Bible Study starting in two weeks! I went through the workbook myself about eighteen months ago and have been itching to do it with the women at church. How awesome that you will be revisiting it at the same time!
I will definitely be praying for this study. This was the hardest study for me to get through. In fact, it took 2 tries to finally finish it. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough by itself, but I am getting through my stuff. I don’t know if I will ever be done, but we’re working on it. Me and God. Praying so hard for the ladies in this study as well as Beth and everyone else involved.
I can’t imagine Breaking Free being better than it is, but I know if Beth is redoing it, it will be “powerful stuff”. Praying that the study goes smoothly and that people will take this study to heart and find their freedom in Christ. That they will live to become “a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor!”
I admit, I have been dreading dealing with my own stuff and it was hard to bring myself to a place where I was willing to plunge in to Breaking Free. . . Not what I expected at all but sooo glad. Isaiah and this study are apparently a manual for leadership, something we all are in Christ. So far, I am beginning to embrace the fact that I have to step into the roll I am called to, despite my fears and insecurities (huge ones). Praise the LORD that He is here to help.
You are all such a blessing and I praise God that you have stepped into the rolls that He has called you to. That obedience is a tool for Him to reach out to so many of us.
much love to you as your tuesday night siesta
My husband and I are “Breaking Free” together. Please pray for us to be free from some things that have been so much a part of our lives that we’ve not been able to be rid of them. We are praying that this study will be the thing that finally works for us. PRAY. . .PRAY. . .PRAY!!! We want so much to be all that God wants us to be in Him.
Breaking Free is very near and dear to my heart too! In the Spring of 2004 God prepared me for major lifestyle changes during the study which I facilitated for a small group of women in Athens, Texas. The following Fall, the lifestyle that God was preparing me for – finally happened. After moving back to Shreveport, where we had always lived, I had to take custody of two of my adorable granddaughters. It was a shock, but I knew without a doubt that God’s hand was on me and He worked out every detail! I will be praying for you, Beth and the women of your Breaking Free group!
Sincerely,
Lynn

I’m sorry that this is the comment on my mind, but I just need to say that I am LOVING Bethie’s outfit.
But I’m sure the spiritual part was great too.
Would it be possible for you to post the statement that you had us recite to each other at the end of the night. It was powerful and moving I want to keep every word.
Yea! I prayed for you all-wasn’t sure if you were still taping:) Prayed for Living Proof Live tonight in Jacksonville against crazy spiritual warfare-NOTHING can thwart GOD’s plans:)

Hooray for the village! And cupcakes! And how cute Beth’s hair looked!
I am picturing Beth in a wheelchair, a’la Kay Arthur at Deeper Still in Nashville… You have to admit, that was priceless when she and Priscilla imitated her.
**Also** I am celebrating my daughter’s baptism this Sunday morning! (She made a profession of faith on Easter Sunday!) There is so much security in one’s own salvation, but when it is that of your own child…Oh, Lord, it is so sweet!
Amanda,
Looks like it was an amazing time!! I wanted to share with you and your mom this blog my dear sister in Christ has started. I know you will be so blessed. God has given her such a gift to write. psalmthirtyseven4.wordpress.com Enjoy!!

Clearly I’m going to need some information on Beth’s jeans.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a fresh denim word.
Hallelujah.
Thanks for writing on Friday. Love to check the blog often. Thanks for everything all of you do for all of us.
I am excited to read that you are through. In the fall I will be leading my church through Breaking Free and it is my very first Moore study that I am leading. I have lead many a youth studies but never an adult group (not to mention all the beautiful wise mature seniors in my church). It will be quite exciting.
How I wish that I could have been there with you all! Thanks for all of the pictures. Will be praying for you as you travel to Jacksonville. I am still relishing in the word that you brought to us in Vancouver.
Blessings on ya!
Sandra:)
Looks like it was just wonderful! Forgive me if this isn’t the place to ask; if it is, feel free to redirect me. But speaking of breaking free, I’ve been wrestling with a question recently. There is a particular area in my life that the Lord has been so graceful to free me in over the past two years. But I fell into it again, not as a habit but in a moment of anxiety and weakness. If someone falls in an area they thought they were free in, does that mean they’re not free anymore? I feel like my mess up completely changes my testimony of freedom now, and I’m more than sad. I keep seeking Him to show me what He thinks and reading Scripture, but I don’t really have an answer. I know that Lord is always working to complete His good work in me, but I feel like I messed something up big time when I fell and that it’s ruined my testimony of freedom. Any thoughts or words of wisdom? And as I note, I haven’t done the Breaking Free study, in case my question seems like I didn’t do my homework. 🙂
Breaking Free. The bible study that finally helped me heal my broken heart with Jesus instead of on my own. I still go back and read the verses from that study. They mean life to me instead of living in the pit of despair. Thank you Beth…with all my healed heart.
Love that you documented our final night together on Tuesday! It was awesome and the songs to finish it out – rockin’!
Blessings Beth and the LPM team! Is it January, 2009 yet? How are we over 25’ers going to stand not having Bible study until then?
Keep us posted on the renovations so we can stay linked and what you are doing Bethie!
Oh, wow! Amanda, the slide show was great. I felt as if I were right there in the midst of all those smiles.
I am praying for your mom and the team as they are away in Jacksonfville. May the glory of the Lord be mighty in that place.
Do you know how many women are attending this weekend?
Blessings to you, sweet Amanda.

Oh, how I wish I could be there in person! My hubby and I talk about moving to Houston as all his sibling and his dad and stepmom live there. It is so hard to relocate. I know if God wants us to move to Houston He will shows us the way in His time.
We at King of Kings Lutheran Church love seeing in videos. We are looking forward to praising the Lord with you when you come to Mpls in July.
Namaste,

I am glad to hear people were set free. Praise the Lord! Oh how I too am praying for freedom and I am totally relying on God to free me…and stay free! It is the staying where I struggle.
Oh and can I say how jealous I am that you ate my favorite mexican food in the world Pappasito’s. I drive 3 hours to Atlanta just to eat there…(Yes Melissa all you need to do is google it and you will find the directions!)
YES!!!!! I cant wait to do it for the 7th time LOL!!
I’ve just stumbled across this blog and wanted to give a shout out to Beth! I’m dealing with too many things to explain here, but was drawn to Breaking Free when I saw it in a bookstore a few months ago. It was the first book I’ve read of yours, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A friend now has me reading Get Out of That Pit, and it is even better! It has been an eye opener in so, so many ways! Thank you, Beth, for bringing God’s grace and mercy to so many people. Sitting down to read one of your books is like sitting down to have lunch with a friend… you are so down to Earth, funny, and well, honest!
man oh man oh man – i so want to be there some day… i mean for the whole thing!!! i am starving here is my town for some girlie teaching like that… Oh Jesus – just maybe can I do it just once??? I mean one whole session Lord… Only with you!!
love, Leigh
How I thought about Beth, the praise team, the Living Proof staff and volunteers, and the Siestas attending Breaking Free on Tues. I prayed for them to finish with a huge outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
So many Siesta living in freedom now…glory to God Most High!
Beth,
Here in Jacksonville Florida and Just got home from a wonderful night listening to you teach me to “press on” and focus on what is before me and not dwell on what is behind me. Just wanted you to know that tonight I was watching a young security guard who was seated downstairs at one of the exits. I don’t know what was drawing me to her but I couldn’t stop glancing her direction all night. She was intently listening to you and occasionally, shaking her head in agreement and I even think I saw her tapping her foot a few times 🙂 As you were closing the night out, we were all faced backwards and then you told us to turn around. I looked over at her and she was standing there crying. I just silently prayed for her as the music started. I don’t know her name nor will I probably ever see her again but I believe God had appointed her in that job, at that time for a divine reason!! Maybe we just welcomed another siesta to the fold!
Thanks for a great evening and I can’t wait till tomorrow morning!!
Looks like a fantastic way to praise the Lord. Do you Moore girls every get tired? I think pedicures and manicures should be required at least once a month.
You gals work HARD!!
God bless-
Amanda

It was a wonderful ending to a wonderful bible study.
My favorite picture is the one where she is ‘having bible study with herself’!! 🙂 Hilarious.
And of course, those precious volunteers who always have huge smiles! 🙂 Thank you!
it was so good.
I can’t wait until Jan 09
Wow! Looks like a dynamic study, that Breaking Free. It’s one of the few I haven’t studied yet and I’m pretty sure it’s the one I need the most. The “Girls Behind the Screen in Jenni’s Living Room” can’t wait to get our hands on that one!!!
To scullysdownsouth…I am not an authority on the matter…but, I do know that Satan is especially interested in tripping us up when we’ve been set free from specific areas. It does not mean you have lost your freedom but he wants you to think so. You can get back up and still be free. I do know that freedom in Christ is worth going to battle for!
I am eternally thankful for your ministry and wish I could be there in Houston. I praise God for the men and women and all the technology available so you are able to bless all of us with the gift of teaching He has given to you!! Keep it up.
