Breaking Free

My mom will be back soon for more wedding talk, but in the meantime I am bursting to tell you all that today is the first day of Bible study for 2008! Beth is incredibly excited and encouraged to meet our group. We will be studying Breaking Free. The core message of this study is simply freedom for the captives. I think it’s fair to say that many, perhaps even most of us siestas have been involved in this study before. I know that everyone who has been changed by Christ’s message of freedom will share in our joy as we set out to proclaim that wonderful message for the next 10 weeks.

We are excited to get to tell you that Breaking Free is being revised, much like the Tabernacle study (A Woman’s Heart, God’s Dwelling Place) was. Some of the messages will stay exactly the same and others will change completely. The updated sessions, which will mirror those taught this semester, will be taped in the fall. We could not think of a better location for the filming than Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, where the study was originally filmed ten years ago! (Having to add in a little note here with information we didn’t originally have so that we can help prevent calls to their church. The taping is a special occasion between Beth and their church and not open to the public. Thanks so much for your understanding!)

Siestas, may we incite your intercession yet again? (I was going to say “one more time,” but I know as long as there is a Living Proof Ministries, we will be asking for your prayers!) The enemy loves to see God’s people in bondage, and because of that we know he will come against us and against those who will participate in this study. Even so, while we want to be alert and aware, we march into this semester of Bible study with a spirit of victory and not of fear! Amen? Nothing could be dearer to God’s heart than ministering freedom and victory to captives, so we will do it with confidence, fearing no evil.

We claim 2 Timothy 1:7, which says, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” (The Amplified Bible) And we wholeheartedly believe 1 John 4:4, which tells us, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (NIV)

Our primary prayer request this semester is for the captives not to grow discouraged. Please pray that they will indeed be set free! Pray that each one will finish and make freedom in Christ a reality in her life. I am getting excited just typing these words! I am filled with faith that God is going to do a huge work in each life.

Other things to pray for include anointing for Beth to teach, anointing for our praise team to lead worship, wisdom and endurance for our Bible study coordinator (Jennifer) and other staff members, peace and calm over the parking lot and in the sanctuary as the women arrive, that many will come early, that the parking lot will accommodate every car, and for there not to be even one distraction while Beth is teaching tonight. The list could go on and on! Thank you in advance for your prayers. May God’s glorious name be praised!

OH GIRL! What I wouldn’t give to be in Houston! I LOVED this study and my life was changed in such a HUGE way by God’s Word thru Beth! There were chains around me that I had carried so long I kinda forgot about them. But God (love those words) not just showed them to me but He broke them, crushed them and I’ve been more free than I ever thought was possible!! GOD IS GOOD and I will be praying for the participants there tonight!! And asking forgiveness for my jealousy! haha

How exciting! Our ladies here in Port Angeles loved Breaking Free and many want to do it again. Perhaps I will wait for the updated version! I will be praying for captives to be set free.

Speaking of freedom, I have posted on here before about Christina, the young woman with brain cancer. (www.christinaahmann.com) Well, her MRI last Friday showed NO VISIBLE TRACE of the very large tumor that was in her brain! The cancer is gone, PRAISE GOD! He is so amazing, there are no words…
    Loving Him,

    Dori says:

    Dear Amanda,

My eyes well up when I read the words “Breaking Free.” My heart is especially tender towards this study and “Believing God.” These are the last two studies that I have facilitated and God has orchestrated two of the most special groups I have ever had!

With Breaking Free we started with 11 members (one of the smallest groups I had ever had) and finished with 11 members — I’ve never led a study where at least one didn’t fall away. Each and every lady there came in with chains and shackles and this message took hold of them and they went away free! God just met with us sometimes with boldness and “in our face” about our stuff and then there were days where He couldn’t have been more tender and gently put his fingers under our chins and was, indeed, the “Lifter of our heads!”

So, with all that said, I’m praying! I’m praying for each and everything you have requested for I know the logistics of pulling off Tuesday night Bible study in Houston are huge! But it was for freedom that He came and I know that He will move heaven and earth to meet with that group tonight and for the next 10 weeks!

Oh boy — if ever I wished I were a Texas woman, now would be the time because I would be there with my old raggity Breaking Free book literally falling open to the stories of the kings, ready for a fresh word!!

Blessings, sweet friend! I can’t wait to hear all about His visitation tonight and in the weeks ahead!

Oh what a privilege it will be to pray ! I know Beth must be soooo excited to be back with the Siestas doing what she does best.I’ve done 5 or 6 studies of hers and have been blessed by each one of them. So,what a great way to get 2008 off to a good start. There’s been alot of exciting personal stuff shared on the blog lately.I am so appreciative that the Moores are so open to thier fellow servants. But,i also know beth’s ministry is at the heart of this family too so good to hear what’s going on in that area.Btw,does anyone know when the Esther study will be coming out?

I will be praying for Beth, for Jennifer and all the LPM team. May His prescence be so strong tonight, and visible in everything from the parking lot to the one who turns off the lights at the end of the night.

We re-did Breaking Free last year at the request of some ladies that had not done it with our group the first time. I reused my workbook from the first time, and was amazed to see the new things that God had for me and how He did build on what He had already begun in my life the first go around.

At least all of you know that there is someone praying for you from Georgia! I pray that the Lord opens hearts and minds all throughout the study so everyone can see Him clearly. Definately praying for you, Beth and all of those involved in putting this Bible Study together. Can I just say, sometimes I wish I could be a Houston resident for a season of time, so I could participate?! I, personally, have not done breaking free. I have heard great things about it, and perhaps it is one I should do, just to make sure my stuff is dealt with victoriously!

Oh, I will be praying for you all. I don’t normally post, but Breaking Free was my first ever “Beth” study….and not only did I begin to break free, but it started me on a course of many studies by Beth that God has used to absolutely change my life! May God bless you all richly….

Oh, for about the hundredth time I wish I lived in Houston, Texas! :o)

May God help Beth empty herself of herself, leaving a willing vessel for Him fill up and use to blow a fresh wind of freedom into all the hearts that gather there.

And…let’s be praying for ALL the new studies starting up this week and next! I’ll have a new group here tomorrow for Jesus the One and Only. Praying against the enemy as hungry hearts all across the country, the WORLD, seek to know our God.

    Hadassah says:

I just finished leading two groups through Breaking Free. The barriers put up by the Evil One are very real. I had several women who didn’t make it through to the end. But, Praise God, there were more who did. It is amazing what a powerful study Breaking Free is, I’ve seen many eyes opened. Mine were pried wide open more than anyone else! As usual!

I will be praying. The power of a changed life is exponential.

I stand in agreement with you in prayer.

I bought the Breaking Free workbook the last week of the Esther study, but will be unable to attend due to my parents’ health situation. The good news is I am going to lead a small study in my home, we will study the Psalms of Ascent in the Stepping Up study.

My heart is with Beth, the Living Proof staff, the praise team, and all my siestas (and the men) who will attend the study.

Dear Siestas…Go For It, Stay the Course, Be Free in Christ Jesus…the Truth will set you free!!!!

I’m so excited for us all. Our Life Group will begin this study on Monday night, 1/14. I took it in 1999, and then two years later I read the book that ROCKED my world, Praise Jesus! Just in my first week of study I have been challenged and I’m amazed at how timely this is for my life right now. Praying and believing God!

I have “been in church” all my life, but had never been involved in a Bible Study until I participated in “Breaking Free” in 2001.

In fact, several days ago, I had a conversation concerning a moment during that particular study when my life began to change.

I am so excited about what God is going to do thru the revision of this study. Lives WILL be changed. Bonds WILL be broken.

Beth, your courage and faithfulness have never been more evident to me than they are right now.

This Siesta will stay on her knees for you.

    Sheri Lyn says:

Oh – how I will be praying – I’m in the middle of week 9 of Breaking Free for the 1st time and to be honest with you when I started the study I really didn’t think I had a lot to break free from. Boy, was I surprised! God is so unbelievably good – how I love Him!! He is truly breaking chains off of my life and mind – strongholds that have been there so long I really thought they were just a part of me. Oh and week 6 where Beth talks about the refining process – how we think we’ve gotten past something only to see the old us rear her ugly head with a vengance. But, He is just refining us – bringing things to the surface that we just didn’t know were still in there. I just love Him more and more everyday!

Congrats to your beautiful sister, Melissa and her future hubby. I pray God’s Hand on their lives and that they will live in the very center of His perfect will.

Thanks again for all that you, your sister, your mother and the LPM staff do for all of us women – God is using all of you in such a wonderful way – you all will never know this side of heaven what your ministry and obedience to God have meant in so many of our lives!! His word is LIFE!!

God Bless and Happy New Year!

Isn’t it a blast to start a new semester bible study! We will be starting Daniel this evening! My husband and I have listened to the audio Cd’s and I filled out the listening guide. Which was a wonderful blessing. I am such a visual learner and can’t wait for the DVD’s and doing the awesome daily homework and getting together with my precious sisters in Christ.

May God be praised and may peace prevail tonight. I pray for His anointing over Beth as she teaches her heart out, and for Jennifer to have an organized mind, for all those bound and those free who will attend. May there be great LIBERTY tonight from the first moment until the closing prayer. May each woman feel the precious power of Christ as soon as she approaches the grounds tonight.

And may those of us who cannot attend (in person) be set free from envy…:)

I’ve done this study twice and lead it once…it completely changed my life. Taught me to walk in freedom, to claim freedom through the power of the Spirit at work in me, to recognize the lies of the enemy, to believe (for real!) that God does love me. I will definitely be praying for your session this winter! I SO wish I lived in Houston so I could make this journey with you all. I have been honored to watch so many women find freedom from their chains during this study, and it has been, for me, one of the most instrumental studies of my entire life…praise God! Blessings on you all!

Love that you all are led to do this. It would be awesome to see Believing God in a child’s/teenage version (sort of like you did with the David study). For me, it was the basic foundation of believing Him and taking Him at His WORD!! Believing His truth towards me that I had never been told in all my life. Your ministry is so on fire for Him and to make His name known in all the world! May this year be another that praises and raises His Name high!

Breaking Free was my first Beth Moore study and let me tell you it open a whole can of worms for me. Ultimately I ended up in the psych ward of a hospital but with no regrets because today I am living in more liberty and grace than ever before. As an athlete I knew that physical commitment to goal was hard but in Breaking Free” I learned that the spiritual training is hard and just as rewarding. Prayers to all of you and remember that hard work will bring about blessings that are yet to be known. so y’all go ahead and just ROCK THE UNIVERSE because God is with you all the way.
    Be blessed today…

I am SO wishing that I lived in Houston right now! Of course if all the siesta lived there, LPM would have to find another facility.

This is the study that has most radically changed my life. This is the study through which I discovered the “real” Jesus and began a relationship with Him. I am excited about the plans for the revision (and not because of Beth’s hairstyle!). The wisdom that God has given Beth since the first edition will surely be evident and used mightily for His glory. If the first had such an impact, I can only imagine the multiplied impact that this one will have. I cannot wait to see what God has planned for this! I will be continually praying for ALL of LPM.

He mounted a full scale attack in the weeks before I even went to the first meeting. Too bad! He lost big time. And this former captive is blessed to pray for each of your participants.
