Hi Siestas! I’m writing this while visiting one of my baby grandsons. I have found a whole new level of delight, watching the world unfold before his sweet, young eyes. Whimsy and wonder, sheer gut-wrenching joy in the simplest of new experiences. The giggles, unencumbered, the wide-eyed enchanting outlook on life. He teaches me, he inspires me, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that one of my main purposes in grandparenting will be sharing our awe in the wonders and majesty of Jesus. Generation after generation. So…
Nancy Mattingly from Houston, Texas
“God is magnificent; He can never be praised enough. There are no boundaries to His greatness. Generation after generation stands in awe…” Psalm 145:3,4 – The Message
I pray that for you and yours as well…total awe at His greatness and goodness. May the simple, profound love of Jesus pour over each of you as you continue to meditate and memorize His perfect Word.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”

I have just discovered SSMT and am pretty excited. I’ve never been good at memorization but have al aye felt a yearning to have them close at hand. I didn’t have the courage or believe that I could commit the the time to actually memorize so I posted scripture around the house. I even have a big chalk board that I use. After discovering this blog today I have decided to jump in and commit to SSMT. I realize that I won’t get in much before now and the end of the year but God seems to be pushing me not to wait so here goes….(picture eyes closed and foot stepping off that high dive!). I think my first attempt should be the 23rd Psalm–I like to start big plus I’ve never. Deb able to get it all memorized.
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures..He leadeth me beside the still waters…He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. Yea though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (KJV)

As Jesus encouraged the disciples to venture out on their first missionary journey, his instructions included, “Take nothing for [your] journey”. Mark 6:8 ESV
Jesus was asking the disciples to trust in the provision found along the way. This directive reminded me of my own journey – Walk by Faith. I am reminded, once again, to trust the direction of my life to the ONE providing the plan.

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Therefore if there is any encouragement and comfort in Christ [as there certainly is in abundance], if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship [that we share] in the Spirit, if [there is] any [great depth of] affection and compassion,
2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love [toward one another], knit together in spirit, intent on one purpose [and living a life that reflects your faith and spreads the gospel—the good news regarding salvation through faith in Christ].
