SSMT 2017: Verse 9!

Hi Siestas!
I pray that each of you have great delight in your memory work!

img_8106I am pretty much positive I am not the only “planner” in this SSMT group. right? My life is busy in every direction, I need a plan. But also I do dearly love a plan. I like a plan for my family, for myself, and of course for a team project, which all my co-workers would be quick to smile and confirm – actually I like a plan for doing nothing. But, I bet like many of you, my plans don’t always land as expected. Truly, there have been occasions when I leave my house with my nice neat plan for the day and by the time I make my very short drive to the office, my plan has morphed into a totally different direction. Then I come face to face with the choice of believing: failure (of my plans) or faith (in His plans).

This simple verse has engulfed my soul! God is faithful to us in the details of life, the steps we take and He has the perfect plan.

Sabrina Moore from Houston, Texas:

“People can plan what they want to do, but it is the LORD who guides their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9 (ERV)

As I looked up a ton of different translations I loved the revealing truth about “my plans.” What looks like a direction or an action item, actually begins with my heart, my thoughts, my needs.

This I know, I need Him!
This I pray, Lord, You lead.

Praying His faithful guiding steps bless you and your days!

Love, Sabrina

    Reviewing Psalm 119 NET

This two weeks I’m working on reviewing my memory work of Psalm 119 (NET). I won’t post the whole thing here, because it’s l-o-n-g, but oh so gorgeous! But I do want to say thank you to LPM for challenging us to regular Scripture memory and showing an example of biting of long chunks! I started memorizing this last May, and it’s taken a year, but what a year! Meditating on the beauty of Psalm 119 all year – through middle of the night nursings, car rides, and all the rest – has been life-changing. Praise the Lord!

A few snippets: Your Word is a lamp to walk by, a light to illumine my path…I learned long ago that You ordained Your rules to last…Those who love Your law are completely secure. Nothing causes them to stumble…You deserve praise, O Lord! Teach me Your statues!…I open my mouth and pant because I long for your commands…My eyes anticipate the night-time hours so I can meditate on your word…O Lord, Your instructions endure, they stand firm in the heavens…I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me…Turn away from me, you evil men, so I can keep the commands of my God!…Your Word is absolutely pure, and Your servant loves it…Your instructions are totally reliable; all Your just regulations endure…I run along the path of Your commands, for You enable me to do so…May praise flow freely from my lips, for You teach me your statues.

Hi Marissa! I love that your post came right after mine! I have decided to memorize a longer passage, as well. I decided to begin next month because I wanted to internalize this month’s verse first. I think it’ll be Philippians (which is so precious to me) though I considered Jude, Habakkuk, and Philemon. Your post inspired me! A confirmation….
