“My husband is in Afghanistan and a few ‘favorite things’ would brighten my day!”
How about that, Sisters?!? OK, Edie, please contact Living Proof Ministries at toll free (888) 700-1999 and give us an address. Please ask for Kimberly or Susan. Knowing what we now know, all of us here would want so much to send you to the beach…but, instead, we’re sending the beach to you. ENJOY!!!
PROCEED WITH CAUTION: this post will embody most everything you anticipate and perhaps even despise about women’s ministry. There will even be pink nail polish. As the great Professor Thornbury said a few weeks ago on the Twitterverse “something is not a stumbling block if you can see it coming.” So, consider yourself warned.
Colin and I just returned from a week at the beach in Mexico. It was crazy fantastic. I slept. I read classic literature. I also swam with a dolphin named Duey. And on the day I returned home I was greeted abrasively by a stomach bug and a crick in my neck so bad I could barely move my head. Oh, and then my 100 lb puppy Winston ate my over-priced prescription eye-glasses. But how can I really be frustrated with this bad boy?
Anyway, since this weekend was the Memorial Day holiday I scrolled through numerous tweets from people who were somewhere fabulous while I was at home with a bag of frozen corn under my neck. And I began to weep for the serenity of the ocean and my dolphin Duey.
But enough about me.
I want to talk about you.
I got to thinking that there may be some of you who won’t get a break this summer. While nearly everyone you know is off to some fabulous island, you won’t get a moment’s rest. For whatever reason, you won’t be able to retreat to the beach or the mountains or to wherever else makes your heart happy. We want to send a little fun and lots of love your direction so we’re doing a random give-away. And it will not include commentaries, concordances, or anything super useful or meaningful.
This giveaway is simply full of some of my personal favorite summer things including: Bobbi Brown Beach parfum (seriously smells exactly like the beach!), classic Ray-Ban aviators, Votivo Candle in White Ocean Sands, a pair of bright yellow Moleskine notebooks, Tea Forte’ Pomegranate Blackberry Iced Tea, and America’s Test Kitchen Best Summer Dessert recipes. See the contents below:
There are really no conditions for this giveaway. My hope, of course, is that this gift makes it into the hands of someone who simply can’t get a break this year and not someone who is heading to the Maldives or Bora Bora next week to stay in one of those little huts with glass floors sprawled across sparkling turquoise waters. But truly, if this gift brings a big smile to a single one of your faces that is quite enough for me.
So, please enter your name in the comments section if you could use a little sunshine in your world. We’ll do a random drawing and announce the winner at noon on this Thursday the 31st.
You are loved.
Melissa
Ahhhh, no rest for me this summer…but, a little at-home R & R would be fabulous 🙂
Thank you for this very fun giveaway ! I will be at home this summer with two teenagers ( well, one is 20 ) home from college. The beach perfume itself it making me giddy. I may have to buy some if I dont win !
Oh, it’s as if you heard me crying! Okay, so I wasn’t actually crying but I was doing some pretty severe pouting. I thought by the time I reached my 50’s I’d be able to finally start taking vacations. Wanted to give my daughter a trip for her graduation….instead, we will both be working hard this summer trying to earn enough for her to start school in the fall. She’s even trying to find a second job and having to miss her final year of youth camp! I’d love this giveaway for me – but I’d REALLY love it for her….just so she’d sense a little of God’s love for her in the midst of all the hard work she’s putting in.

That giveaway is perfect! Bless you, Beth! Just heard you on Wednesdays with Beth this morning, “Out of the Net”. It hit the spot!

Pick me! Pick me! 😉 Thanks for doing this, what a thoughtful and fun idea! (I think I need those bright yellow moleskines even if I don’t win!)
How fun!
What FUN!
Melanie Williams – Dreaming of the beach as always, but landlocked in Georgia for the summer.
Big smile…Deb Martell 🙂
Reading the posts from all of you will bless And brighten my summer. Thanks.
How exciting! Please enter me…
Summer vacation this year consists of traveling for family weddings, which will be a great time of celebrating with family and friends!
Why is it easier to get angry at someone…but a dog- never!
So exciting!
You are so kind! And generous! Everything looks lovely.
I’m pretty sure I won’t be going anywhere in the forseeable future.
Thanks for brightening this day with possibilities! 🙂
What a cute puppy you have!!! My littlest girl looks at me like that when she knows she has done something wrong. It’s hard to discipline her when she looks at me with her big blue eyes. So glad you got a nice break in Mexico!!!
What a lovely array of goodies, certainly does make you feel beachy and restful just scrolling through!
What a nice idea! Thank you for your ministry to women.
How wonderful and I was just daydreaming about a beach getaway!! My name is Donna D’Andrea.
How thoughtful-please add me to be in the drawing!
May God bless you abundantly!
Looks like a great package! Definitely no vacation for me this summer. All extra funds go to sending my future youth pastor son to summer camps. Wouldn’t trade it for the world though. 🙂
My husband and I have recently moved to Boone, NC to plant a church and have no plans to go on vacation this year. Thank you ladies for the encouragement you give us–it is greatly appreciated. Have a great summer. Please pray for our church plant.
Entered! I’m so excited! I won’t get a ton of junk mail like I do when I enter to win free cars! 🙂
Hi. Love the beach theme. Hope I win! Christine Walsh
love it! hope the crick is better, too.
What a great giveaway.
No exotic destinations for me this year. Come to think of it, none since my honeymoon. But being a momma, a wife and servant of the Lord don’t often leave opportunities for such.
Good luck to whomever!
Oh What fun!
Your blog was a blessing to me
WOW!!! What awesome gifts!!!! Thanks for being so sweet!!!!
after 15 yrs of working for the same company we were bought out by a new company that allowed us all to keep our jobs, a true blessing in these times; however benefit wise- they treated us as day 1 employees so no vacation time this year. Your beach escape is the perfect companion to my “stay-cation” year!
I am leaving my name for my sister, Brenda, who has no access to email. If my name would be picked, I would bless her with the gift. She has not had a “real” vacation anywhere for MANY years……her life is a constant struggle and has been full of many disappointments. Yet she remains upbeat and continues on in her faith. Thank you for entering my name and for thinking of others the way you do!! Be Blessed!!!
Wow, this is awesome! This would make me feel like i have a vacation. I’ll wear the raybans at work in front of computer while burning the candle wearing my pink nailpolish. I feel refreshed already.
Thanks for the chance to win, very generous.
I hope you feel well soon.
Fun! I’ve only ever been to the beach once, and that was right after I graduated from college. I guess it goes with living in land-locked Montana! Unfortunately, life on the farm (ranch) makes it a little tough to get away for a vacation, as it tends to be the busiest time of the year. We are hoping to squeeze in a little fishing and camping at Fort Peck Reservoir at some point before harvest though! Thanks for thinking of us Siestas Melissa!
Yay! Super fun! Pick me! Pick me! 🙂
This is such a wonderful idea! Thank you, Melissa!
Tammy Ruby..
Enter me please. Even a mental 10 minute get a way is a blessing.
Melissa – great collection of “beach” things you put together. Seems like you could get away anywhere with all this.
Rebecca
I absolutely LOVE that the women on this blog (both writers and readers) think of the rest of us ladies on a continuous basis. You all give in so many ways rather than focusing on receiving. That is refreshing to see. This wonderful gift would benefit so many wonderful ladies who need a “pick me up” this summer. Thank you for loving us so dearly.
What a fun idea! thanks for thinking of us Siestas!
Sorry! I thought the first one got lost in cyberspace!
How lovely! Being unemployed has meant working every odd job I can find to pay my bills. It also means no money for vacation, especially after using a credit card to buy plane tickets for my grandma’s funeral. Somehow God provides!
This is so sweet!! What a great idea.
Wow! Thanks!!
What a great gift! This would make any day seem like a vacation. Thanks so much for loving the Father and encouraging women. 🙂
There won’t be a long vacation time for us this year. Our plans are for a couple of short weekend trips in the area and backyard camp outs with the granddaughters. Someday maybe we can go to the beach with them.
What a great give away. Not going anywhere this summer, bummer. : )
That is a great gift! I haven’t had a vacation in two years. I work six days a week April through October with no time off. I could use an escape!
