Siesta SMT Celebration Recap

Good afternoon, Siestas! Monday probably would have been a more appropriate day to write this post, but we went straight into Tuesday night Bible study, so I wanted to get through that before we spent one more post on SSMTC. So, please forgive me for any details I might be missing.

It was a wonderful weekend, was it not? I personally had the sweetest time receiving and giving so many hugs, and putting names with faces I see all the time on the blog. In fact, I think someone mentioned on Saturday that is was National Hug Day. How appropriate is that?

One thing some of you may not know is that this was my second SSMT Celebration. I attended the celebration in 2010 as a participant and Siesta. Isn’t that so fun? Getting to serve you ladies this time around was a complete joy and honor. I often referred back to the first SSMTC and took in where the Lord had brought me since then. Who knew? To be so honest, it was very surreal. He is so good and sweet.

We started out Friday evening STRONG! I got to the church early around 2:30 with Jenn, who happened to be in charge of the entire event, and some of you beat us there. It was so fun to see how excited y’all were. Jenn and I ended up getting ready in the bathroom at church before things got crazy, and I got so tickled when about five of you walked in on us as we were freshening up our make-up. Real life, folks, real life!

After getting things all set up and ready, we opened registration at 5:00 and that’s when most of you started flooding in. At the registration table we gave a lot of hugs, and also some cute tote bags, pens and a program. They were adorable!

At 7:00 sharp Travis and his team led us in some powerful worship. If he doesn’t do it for you, I’m not sure who would. They are such an anointed and gifted group that genuinely loves serving the Lord, and it shows. Not to mention the excitement in the room. During the second song I walked up to the balcony to get a quick picture and just stood there for a minute to take it all in. We are a real blog community that has come to life. Instead of reading and posting your sweet comments, I got to stand there for a minute and listen to y’all sing. It was a sweet moment. Again, probably just another one of my nostalgic moments that I’ve been having lately. Please forgive any sappiness.

Once worship was over Beth was up and not only did she have a WORD for us out of 2 John, she surprised us all by reciting the entire book to us by memory. Because of how animated and passionate she is, I think it’s safe to say we all felt like we were watching a portion out of a Broadway play, except she was speaking the living, breathing word of God. For the next three sessions, on into Saturday, Beth spelled out the word WALKING for us and had a point for each letter.

There is no doubt in my mind that each woman walked away with some truth in her heart and the courage to take back her ground the enemy has trampled on or stolen! Wow. I’ve been thinking about my ground all week.
When we wrapped up the Friday evening session, while Beth took pictures with the different regions represented, the rest of us enjoyed cookies and cocoa in the Fellowship Hall. I didn’t get to personally drink any of the hot cocoa, but I heard it was out of this world. I know for a fact the sugar cookie was, as I did enjoy one of those. Or maybe two. Grin.

We all cleared out Friday night, only to lay our heads quickly on our pillows to return bright and early Saturday morning. Travis and his team and Beth all did a phenomenal job.

Halfway through the morning it was time to say our scriptures to each other. During this time I walked around to snap a few pictures and it was really fun to see everyone in pairs all around the building reciting your scriptures out loud. What a powerful time!

Throughout the weekend, we gave the ladies who could recite all 24 verses an opportunity to do so with a partner and claim a gift we had for them, and do y’all know we counted 385 that signed off for reciting all 24 verses? That is amazing! I think our in house cheerleader, Evangeline, cheered each of them on individually very enthusiastically. It’s what we do best at LPM.

We even had one Siesta recite all of her scriptures in Greek to Melissa on Saturday. Incredible.

Once we’d all said our scriptures, and all the pressure you felt was gone, Beth sent us out on the letter G: Go out into the world WALKING in what you know. It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend. Travis led us in some foot stomping worship and then when all was said and done, I heard most of you talking about going to get Tex-Mex. That was very wise of you to do.

Ladies, you were an absolutely blast and the sweetest, most gracious and warm group of ladies and not to mention fun and beautiful. To say y’all are easy to love would be an understatement. However, I don’t want to leave out those of you that couldn’t make it this weekend! Know that you were thought of, prayed for and MISSED! Your hard work didn’t go unnoticed by us one iota. We love each of you dearly and haven’t stopped talking about you since Saturday, which started out through text message the minute we all left HFBC Saturday afternoon. Thank you so much for making a trek to Houston to celebrate with us!

Although saying this doesn’t plaster a pretty pink bow on this post to wrap it up, I want to let y’all know that we will not be doing scripture memory this year on the blog. That has been the number one question we’ve received so I just wanted to make it clear. We do, however, encourage you to continue on doing your scripture memory and grab a few ladies to do it with you! Don’t let this blog keep you from memorizing scripture. But do be looking out for Siesta Summer Bible study and be sure to check back in 2013 for scripture memory.

If you wrote a recap post, feel free to share a link to that specific post in the comments section with your comment. I know other ladies would love to read about your experience.

We love you ladies dearly. And we mean it!

Travis and Angela Cottrell

Worship. Sorry for the quality, these were captured with my phone.

Ladies reciting scripture to each other all over HFBC.

Our youngest Siesta who recited all 24 verses as well. Each time she did one, she jumped up and down and clapped. It was precious.

Our scripture wall. Awesome!

    Oh sweet ladies…
My heart is still full and I dare not come down off the mountain top! Thank you for loving us so very well. Sweet conversations with Nancy and Lindsee that lets me see exactly why you are all so special to us!

Beth…when you got all teary during the commissioning I thought I was going to fall apart. I haven’t heard you get like that after so many events, so it truly felt and was received from a momma to all her babies. 🙂

I started my new spiral yesterday beginning with a verse from Tammie Head’s “Duty or Delight.” Ephesians 1:4 it is……”For he CHOSE us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.”

So much love over all of you. Thank you for a most unforgettable weekend.

Crave cupcakes might have been consumed as much as Mexican. 😉

How can you sum up such a fantastic weekend in just a few words, not possible. The weekend was more than I could have hoped for. God spoke a word to me like never before. Beth was filled with the Spirit and brought a message that hit me like a ton of bricks. Almost 4 years ago I lost the ground I had gained and walked into a pit of sin. NEVER AGAIN! I am claiming victory! Memorizing scripture has become an addiction for me. I need it, I want it and God has so graciously allowed me to have it. Travis and the worship team were amazing I am sure the sound of our voices rang in to the heavens.

Then to top it all off the message that Curtis gave on Sunday at BCF completed the weekend. It was a spirit filled weekend that I will never forget or take for granted.

I am thankful for the LPM staff for organizing the weekend, Beth and Curtis for allowing God to speak through them to us, and Travis and his team as well as the worship team as BCF for an awesome time of singing praises to God.

Lets keep WALKING an MARCH ON!!!

    Love to you all,

Even though I was unable to attend, the live feed was a HUGE BLESSING! There were moments when my heart ached to be there, but I still felt such a part. I realized that I have definitely allowed the enemy to steal some ground from me…..very important ground that I fought hard with God’s strength to overcome. I am taking it back, I am not believing satan’s lies. Love is better, it covers a multitude of sins and I want God’s blessings in my life over being “right”, or desiring my rights, I choose forgiveness and love in this particular relationship that I have lost my ground in. I am taking it back!! I decided to start reading “Believing God” Read the 1st 3 chapters last night and was so encouraged. The Lord really spoke to me…..I am posting the 5 statement pledge where I can see it every morning and will speak it every day when I am tempted to believe lies. I am getting a blue cord for my wrist today. The Holy Spirit has already impressed on my heart what I am to give up/stop doing (God had already called me to greater sanctification over the last months and there have been so many things I have been convicted to give up and WOW, it has made a lot of difference, but I KNOW exactly what He is calling me to so that I may be more sanctified, more like Him!) and I am so excited to begin writing down all of the things I know I will see Him do because of this. So, it was a great weekend for me in seeing how God uses His word mightily in us and He clearly spoke to me in what He wants me to do now. If any of you Siesta’s haven’t read Believing God, it would be a great next step after the SSMTC. I also went out and bought “Praying God’s Word” I am just so excited about what God is doing and is going to do in and through my life. I love you all and love Living Proof Ministries. What a blessing & encouragement you all have been in my life!
Thank you for this weekend, and thank you for always seeking God and speaking the truth boldly in love.

Hi Michele! I was able to attend SSMTC this year and it was a huge blessing. I am overcome and overwhelmed at God’s love and mercy and goodness and patience with me. Memorizing these 24 scriptures this year has impacted me in ways I can’t explain. The Believing God Bible study was also life changing for me. I did the study about ten years ago and I still wear the blue bead bracelet every day to remind me of who God is and who I am in Him. When Beth used those statements in her prayer I felt like God was confirming what He spoke to me during the study. Those statements and God’s Word have been life to me. I can’t tell you how many times I have said those outloud, to myself and to others over the years. I am so sorry that you couldn’t attend but am thankful that you were able to participate through the livestream. March on, my soul, be strong! He is faithful!

    LPM staff and Beth,

Thank you so much for going to the extra trouble of the live feed. It was such a blessing. I missed Friday night but caught most of Saturday. By the time Travis came on to wrap up the weekend I was in tears and could hardly sing.
Thank you so much for all you do to help us on this narrow road as we battle Satan’s lies and schemes.
What a party it will be when we all meet at His throne.
May God richly bless each of you at LPM as you have blessed us.
    Thank you,
    Linda

I participated through the simulcast and it was incredible! The worship time with Travis and his team brought me to tears. the teaching by Beth was fantastic. I was very blessed by being able to be a part of this even online. Thank you for offering to let those of us who completed the scripture memory be a part of the celebration remotely, since I could be there in person. FYI – I am doing “Jesus The One And Only” by Beth with my church bible study group right now. God’s Blessings!

Ok. Am I allowed to be a bit jealous? :0)
I wish I could have made it there with all of you. To be in a room with all Siestas… :0)

I had a really rough weekend back here at home, but I knew all of you were there together and were probably praying for us Siestas, who didn’t make it, and that just kept me going!

    Carol says:

I didn’t attend in person, but I followed right along via livestream. Does that count?
I thoroughly enjoyed it from my little computer screen and am SO appreciative that you offered that for us non-attenders.
I am smack dab in James, so that is my Scripture memorization for the year. I am doing the Mercy Triumphs study on my own, downloading the video sessions. I know I will be through the study before I have the book memorized so I have decided I will just start the study over again when I’m finished to give me more time to work on the memorization!

Please share what the prize was for reciting all 24 Scriptures. I am overly curious. 🙂

What a blessed weekend! We started out the Siesta weekend by meeting a whole bunch of Siestas at Pappasito’s. YUMMM!!! I was able to reconnect with several Siestas and put faces to the names of so many others I’ve come to know through Facebook & the blog.
Thank you all at LPM for hosting a “WOW” weekend! 🙂 You were all so gracious to us. Thanks to Travis & the praise team. What a blessing. Thanks for the dvd gift. I memorized 28 verses. Just last night I went to bed troubled about something and started reciting some of my verses and I received immediate peace and even had a very sweet dream about Jesus. I remember waking up in the night smiling. 🙂
God is so good to have blessed me with SO many wonderful friends. My group went to dinner after the service Friday night and out of sixteen ladies seated at our table, eight different states from California to Virginia to Wyoming to Tennessee were represented. Isn’t that so cool?!! We went on to enjoy the Sunday service at Bayou Fellowship Church. Curtis Jones preached an amazing sermon.
Thanks again for EVERYTHING. We felt very loved and valued. Love you all!
P.S. Will the closing commission be available? It was so good!

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift!
    2 Corinthians 9: 10 to 15
Thank you. Because words fail me, so I will give you these. Please convey our appreciation to the entire LPM staff, Travis and his team, and HFBC staff.

    Again, thank you.

I was one of those siesta’s who was blessed to feel very much a part of the event even though I participated via livestream. I’ll limit my comment to one line from Beth’s teaching that resonated so deeply. “Christ came to flesh out God. We are to flesh out Christ.” It was a joy to memorize Scripture with all of you and I hope your day is blessed.

This was my first SSMTC to attend and I am already looking foward to next time. My friend Carol and I drove 1300 miles roundtrip from Southeast Missouri and enjoyed Praising God both directons :-). Lindsee, it was so good to meet you and hug your neck at check-in time. The LPM staff and First Baptist Staff were all so nice and friendly (a shout out to Kimberly @LPM for the hug and time of sharing). The music was truly a time of worship to our Lord and the message was right-on!! Getting to meet siestas I recognized from the blog was a blessing as well. The scripture memorization helped me so much in 2011 to stand firm during a difficult time in my life. Thank you Beth and LPM for all you do!!

That darling little “living doll” that recited all 24 of her verses is such a joy to see! I had so hoped to be there, but God had different ideas and plans for me. Praying that in two years I’ll be willing and able should the LORD tarry! I know ya’all had an incredible time. Also loved the unique scripture wall…Amazing!
Blessings to Beth, all the LPM team and our Siestaville sisters that make the blog a ministry and a joy.

I absolutely loved the celebration weekend! Everything about it blessed me. Saying my verses with my sister was a treasured time and being able to experience all of it was beyond! We both recited all 24 of our verses! Thank you for the powerful teachings, anointed worship time lead by the uber-talented Travis Cottrell and his team, the entire LPM staff for everything!, and for the goodies. I loved getting to meet fellow Siestas, to hug and to just mingle our lives together a bit further! I am in awe at the worship that we shared in that place. It so moved my heart, my soul, and my feet!
I will be posting a recap of the weekend tonight or tomorrow and will post a link then!

Thank you so much LPM and Houston’s First Baptist and Travis Cottrell & Team, and Beth, for having us and for walking through this thing called life with us!

Thank you for a spectacular weekend. I am still soaring from such a strong and enveloping message. I love how God brings a timely word through Beth, and confirms it through Travis in praise and worship. Eklecte Kuria and Kurio – love the message of how if we spend time with God getting the message of how much He loves us, then we will act differently – like dearly loved children.

When we sang “Victory in Jesus”, a song I have sung many times, tears welled up as we sang, “He sought me and bought me…,” as if hearing for the first time. How everyone yearns to be sought after…

Love, thanks and hugs to an incredible team.

WOW what a great weekend, one surely worthy of getting the SEAL of APPROVAL. The journey began last January when I started memorizing scripture (a first for me), then I met a wonderful gal at the September Simulcast and learned she was a Siesta. Getting to reconnect with long time friends and meet new ones was also great. Worshiping with Travis and the team was great, hearing Beth share the Word was great.
I didn’t get to bring any dirt home, instead I found an 18 pound bag of Texas RED grapefruit, along with 2 jars of Texas BarBQ rub and that exceeded my luggage limit.
I came away with my heart full (and my suitcase). I so much look forward to continuing my scripture memory and the next celebration.
Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it a success.

I memorized the scriptures in ’09 and jumped at the chance to do it again in ’11, because those verses were used so amazingly to help me and others. I did not attend the celebration in ’10, but forced myself to go this time. God gave me a new friend, Connie, from Iowa, and Beth’s message is one that has been pinging around in my head for a while…why are we backing up when the enemy throws lies at us? Why do we hit the fetal position and wait for a good kick in the rear (my words, not Beth’s)when he comes at us? It does make me mad, so I am encouraged to PUSH BACK. Fearful where I used to be bold…ugh!! The celebration was an oasis, a regrouping, reloading, refreshing, rest-for-the-soul-full experience for me. And, I am grateful for the love you all showed us by pampering us, preparing for us, and praying over us. I was scared silly about the verses..so I recited my verses Friday night..wouldn’t have been able to sleep well, otherwise. Thank you, Beth, for the reward. I have already watched and absorbed that study, too..relationships..wow. Thank you, God, for this very generous labor of love showered on all of us. Amen

I am still in the after-glow of last weekend! It was awesome! The hospitality of the Living Proof Staff was great; especially Jenn. You went out of your way to make me feel welcomed, thank you so much! Also, thanks Living Proof Ministries, for the tote bag and other gifts, cookies etc.

Travis, I can’t say enough about what your music does to my soul. Thank you and your praise team for your talent & inspiration!

Hello to my new friend Katie from Colorado. I hope you made it back safely with your adorable 3 month old. My tears just flowed after Beth’s commission on Saturday when we said goodbye. I know that I will be seeing you again! I pray that it will be at the next SSMT Celebration if not sooner.

Beth, the impact of God’s powerful message last weekend will be with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for every moment you spent in praying, studying, preparing and delivering it to us… “Your Siestas.” I thank God for you and your ministry.

Melissa, I was the one you saw scoop up dirt at the edge of the church campus. I thought to myself, Did Beth’s sweet daughter see me do that? Of course, when you stopped your car next to ours and smiled and waved I knew I was busted!!

I love all of you in Siestaville!!!

And not only from me but from my children (ages 4 and 2) who needed their Mommy refreshed and energized. 🙂

Grace and peace to you in Jesus!

I want to thank everyone at LP for a wonderful and very memorable weekend. Everyone was so friendly and kind and the hospitality and goodies were over the top. Thank you so much for all you did for us. Our lives and those around us are so enriched because of the love you have given us for scripture memorization. Thank you Beth for your love for us. You have dramatically changed my life and given me such a passion to encourage other women to do Bible studies. I was a “Raleigh girl” and that came just when I needed it. Thank you Travis for the awesome worship music and truths you shared with us and for using your gifts to glorify God. What a blessing I received this weekend!!

LPM, thank you so much for putting this together. I still can hardly believe I actually drove to Houston by myself and did this. I really relished learning the verses – I had always had trouble memorizing the scripture references but this MADE me do it and I continue to review them even now (don’t want to lose any ground!). Hello to my recitation sisters, Sue from Houston and Margot from Roundrock, I am praying for you. Since there is still room in the spiral I bought to memorize with, I am writing the book of James in there to memorize it for “Mercy Triumphs”. I can’t wait till next year to do a new spiral and come back to Houston to see Beth IN PERSON again! Thanks again to the LPM staff and Beth for this great celebration!!

I was SO sad that I wasn’t able to attend the Celebration last weekend but am so very excited to tell you that because of the changes this powerful practice has made in my life this year, several of my close friends have decided to implement scripture memory in their lives this year. And I am just beside myself about it!

Thank you all, LP team, for just loving us so very well last weekend! That is how I described last weekend to sweet friends and family who have asked — we were so well loved. I’ve told them that you simply showered us in so many ways and with so many details. The worship, teaching, and fellowship continue to impact my life this week in my interactions with family, coworkers, friends, (and parents with whom I interact daily). So much love back to each of you! Muah and hugs!!! 🙂

Such an amazing year! God has used you, Beth, and each of you, Siestas, to lift my head and help me press on in joy, memorizing and embracing the Word. The scriptures in my spiral have become a part of my walk with God and He has been so faithful!

I was not able to attend the Siesta SMT Celebration, but for accountability, and to celebrate the power of this amazing scripture journey with my sweet daughter, I spoke all 24 of my verses to her when she and her husband came out to California (from Dallas) for Christmas.

    She recorded it …

I was so blessed to participate in the simulcast from my Uganda home :). I was up at 4AM for the Friday night session. Me. my puppy and many prayers for the internet to hold so I could see the whole evening. And it worked, Praise the Lord! The word from the Lord spoken through the passionate teaching convicts me still. And the worship. Praising with sisters (siestas!) in my own heart language in my own heart-land (I’m a Texan!) filled me with such deep emotion I can’t confine it into mere words. I cried the WHOLE time. Tears of sweet joy. Thank you, thank you dear LPM servants for making this time available and including those of us far away. In my current ‘desert wanderings’ you offered a chilled glass of perfect water that will sustain me long. I praise Jesus for your ministry. Our Faithful God is so very good.

What a wonderful weekend it was. I’m Pushing Back and taking back My ground that’s been taken from me. The other “girls” were extremely loving to me and I felt a part of other groups who welcomed me since I came from NC to TX alone. Thank you for putting this wonderful conference together. What a word that was spoken to us….loved it.

A million times thank-you, for everyone who works so hard to put these things together for us!!! I know it is no small feat, but it was SO incredibly wonderful.

I knew I would come away feeling like ALL was right with the world…and I did. It doesn’t mean that the events of this past year, don’t still sting, but the time I have spent this past year, memorizing His promises to me in Isaiah 40, DO renew my spirit.

So wonderful to see women I had not seen in a couple years and to finally meet women I had only been friends with on fb and twitter.

Did you ever imagine…in your wildest dreams….that it would become this THING! This wonderful, loving, supportive, fun THING, when you started the blog???

Amanda, bless your heart. It was so sweet to see you being the pastor’s wife at church on Sunday. You wear the mantle well. A couple from your church prayed with me and promised to keep my daughter in their prayers (Sharon and Bob?, I think….I was going to remember!) Took back my ground from the grounds of your church.

Thank-you again for everything you do for us, at LPM!!
